follwed all the steps on this thread but it just doesnt work evrytime i enter the command it says no such file found, pls help
If you see the main thread you notice lot of people are reporting problems mounting internal storage.. why not keep an eye there...
Or maybe you use the alternate method or putting an alternate kernel the file in /preload/TWRP/
This does not require root, and the preload partition is mounted in the recovery instead of the sd card automaticly.
placing it /preload/ does require root, so go for /preload/TWRP/

also to restore previous backup, you may also flash philz kernel and then restore.
Should be fixed in the latest nightly
kindly advice

If you use root explorer, can you see any of the files? IN TWRP recovery, when you click on "Install", which folder do you see as default.. try to place the Philz kernel zip to that location and flash it in recovery.. then reboot recovery.
can you please explain alternate method

Why is there no OS? Anyhow.. boot into twrp recovery.. connect phone to pc and run adb devices. It should show the phone.. then activate adb sideload. In cmd prompt, use command adb sideload "path or the zip file on pc". this should install the kernel/rom.
thanks

Easy way use pc Odin flash philz kernel. Boot into recover using three button method and restore cwm backup. You will get yellow triangle but that's easy to remove as well. If anybody is going to be flashing any Roms pc Odin and adb is a must have. If don't have a backup or a Rom on your sd card you can flash a stock Rom with Odin.
Experimental roms are going to leave you stranded most of the time and if people are going to flash roms labeled as such then the should learn how to recover from them before flashing

I recommend Odin(PC).
As an alternative, try this, should mount the external SD card.
This does not work if that sd card is partitioned.
Code:
mount /dev/block/mmcblk1 /sdcard/

Hi
Can someone kindly help me here please. I'm fairly new to flashing custom ROMs and was eager to try out the Ultimate 4.1.2 Jelly Bean ROM I found here on XDA. I installed and setup the ROM no problem. However, was unable to format the Internal SD for Settings - Storage. I really wanted to start with a new, clean system so I (stupidly) connected the Note to my Mac via USB Mass Storage Mode, and formatted the Internal SD Card using Disk Utility.
Now I am unable to use the Note. However, I am able to boot into CWM 6xxxxxx. Under Mounts/StorageI have managed to mount the Internal SD, I can copy files onto it from my Mac and format using Disk Utility. But I am unable to get the device up and running again. As I get messages in CWM saying can't mount SD, and similar.
I do have some Nandroid backups on my Mac and copied these across to the SD Card using CWM Mounts and Storage. However, as I get the message can't mount SD card, I am unable to restore the system.
Please help someone. I love my Note and want her back.
Thank you in anticipation.
What format did / does your mac format in ? It needs to be FAT32, try reformatting it in recovery
Also, the error mounting sd card, is this internal or external ? I get this error a lot but i can still flash from both cards.

Hi - thank you for the reply. I formatted it FAT32. I've tried formatting it in CWM under Mounts and Storage - format /sdcard, but get the message: "skipping format...Done."
Can I try anything else?

I should add that in desperation I have probably done some things I shouldn't have done in CWM including formatting system, wipe data and wipe cache etc. Therefore, am I correct in thinking have no ROM installed to boot from?

Do I need to flash this ROM? I really just want to go back to UK Stock ICS 4.0.4 and then root. Can you advise me please, thanks.

Hi - I flashed the UK Stock Rom successfully and the internal SD is there and fine. Thank you so much for your help - I've learned so much. One final question, the phone rebooted automatically after the flash, at this point it was still connected to the PC with a USB cable and Odin was open. On the phone I saw a message saying MTP syncronizing. I then quit Odin and unplugged the USB cable. Can I confirm that this will not harm the newly installed ROM on the phone?
Thank you again for your help and guidance
That's normal. Phone boots automatically because auto reboot is checked in odin. You have a perfectly working phone now ciao

Please help i have rooted as i have titanium backup and superuser installed. I am lost as to how to fix this issue and have read everywhere. I saw a link for cwm ver 6.0.3.1 which is what i need i believe but it was on a tmo s2 thread so dont know i can use that link and just reflash thru odin again like i did the first time. Thanks

Instead of odin, try to flash the TWRP zip version through CWM and see if that gets you anywhere.

The newest CWM is 6.0.4.9. My suggestion would be to delete LGFreedom folder off your SD Card and re-run the FreedomFlex app again as it will then download the latest CWM and you can just flash the recovery again. I had the same issue with 6.0.4.8
Problem is I can't get anything accept CWM, and I can't mount internal card, LG driver is already installed, and I tried to reinstall it, but he is still not seeing it. Any idea how to access it? If I have to have old Sprint ROM to install FreedomFlex again, I need somehow to transfer it to the internal memory and start the installation from there.

I don't quite get what the problem is.... Are you stuck in CWM or can you boot into the rom?
If you're stuck in CWM and don't have a backup or any other rom to flash (why?), you can always sideload a rom using adb (if you are stuck in a CWM bootloop look here for help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2744482)
If you can boot back into the rom, follow my previous reply....
The only other option is to flash back to stock by following the tutorial here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2644083

Can't boot back to the ROM, I have stock ROM downloaded on hard drive, but I thought if I make a mistake, I would easily copy it to internal memory, and install it from there. Problem is that I cant, adb devices is showing nothing, so I can't use shell to copy ROM.

Well it looks like the only option is to go back to stock from the link I posted and start again, but make sure you've got everything on your phone you need before trying anything... Also trust me CM11 isn't worth bothering with just yet as there is a lot of issues with it, but I'm sure it will get there as PlayfulGod is working on it

Tnx for help, but I spent 4 hours trying to solve why I can't reach internal memory. At the end, LG drivers weren't working, so I pushed manually to set it as ADB port , and finally found the phone through adb devices command. After that, returning stock was easy. Now, I'm on CM11, thanx on those links, combining with one more thread and the problem is solved.
My S Advance is hard bricked and I am unable to bring it back to life, though it does go to recovery mode and download mode I've flashed plenty of firmwares from 2.3.6 to 4.1.2 and none of them work. Anyway I'm past that because I've bought a new phone now, what I need to ask is this: Can I somehow recover the data from my internal SDcard, and how should i go about doing so?
I want to add one more thing...
I know the problem of the phone not booting is hardware related, but i believe that the internal memory is intact. I believe so because when i go to recovery mode I am able to mount and unmout sdcard0, also using the "Install zip" option I'm able to view the folders inside sdcard0.

If you are able to enter the custom recovery,as you said, you could do an nandroid backup and it will be automaticly safe to your sd-card.
After that you can open it up in your new or other smartphone with nandroid manager and you can pull out all your files and savegames etc. .
Hello Everyone,
I know this is an old tablet and mine works fine but there are so many apps i cannot run on it because it's so old.
For some reason when I go to recovery (power plus volume down) it only gives me options to install from cache or to install from SD card. My Tab doesn't have an SD card slot and I've tried many different things like putting the Google Apps file in an /sdcard folder but no luck. Maybe I need a better recovery that will allow me to install from OTA USB or from Internal storage, or directly from the PC.
I have never rooted a phone before or unlocked a bootloader, and maybe I'm missing a step, but no matter how many forum posts I check people seem to be able to run it from /sdcard which is simply not working for me.
Please help!
I've got the same issue here, and tried everything, from what you've said you've done to using command lines in adb fastboot, and nothing seem to bring me closer to write on the root of the device. Maybe with both of us asking here someone pops up to bring some light to this.
@saitar
Install the TWRP Recovery 2.8.7.0 or higher.

I used this TWRP recovery, then flashed the lollipop rom here. But I stopped at the gapps... the only one I was able to flash was this one, but the keyboard isn't showing up. I tried the complete compilation and the flashing failed due to lack of space, although the device was plenty of it...

Thanks for replying. Yes, this is what I found out reading in xda and other forums, as the recovery I mentioned above is the 2.7.1.0, but is there a 2.8 recovery for the Tab 8.9, or should we be able to update the 2.7 to 2.8 without problems? Edit: I noticed in your post signature you got a 3.0 version on your device... how?

You're the man! th tar file didin't work, but I was able to flash the 3.0 TWRP, then flashed the Nougat version and the Gapps. Everything is working fine.
Thanks again!
Nougat update for i957?
Great to see the efforts here, kudos.
A naive question, whether this is going to work on my i957 currently on 4.0.4 ICS? If no, any recommendations for any latest ROM for i957? Being on 4.0.4, a number of apps have started causing issues, support not being available.
If there's another thread I should post on, pls suggest the same.
Thx

Recover using ODIN n with official firmware
