I'm worried.
I went to install a new rom, so formatted my sd card first, without realising it I've wiped my backups and also the rom I was going to flash. I can still get into twrp but I have no idea how to get a rom across to my handset.
ive tried fastboot update but i just get "waiting for device"
Someone please help

Triy adb sideload, links for how to http://www.google.nl/url?sa=t&rct=j...v4l4QSOgEwWvPXvTXm_X0Kw&bvm=bv.48705608,d.ZWU.
1. Connect your phone make sure it's actually connected and you have the drivers.
If you don't have the drivers check this out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1983470
2. Rename the ROM you want to flash to something basic, I used Find5.zip
3. Open CMD (command prompt), navigate it to the folder you placed the ROM
(e.g. code: cd C:\Users\Jelle\Downloads\ will navigate to my Downloads folder)
4. Boot to recovery on your phone and enable the ADB sideload function.
5. in CMD type adb sideload Find5.zip
6. Let TWRP or CWM flash the zip and prompt for reboot.
7. Reboot and be happy, your phone is fixed!

Ok so I tried updating my phone that was already rooted on Android 4.3 S-OFF to 4.4 kitkat with sinless rom sense. Transferred the rom zip to my phone, then proceeded to wipe the system and data, as well as davalik cache with clockworkmod recovery. Attempted to flash the rom and it aborted. Tried a few times and nothing worked. Didn't realize till after that my phone had no OS, and now all I can do is enter the bootloader. Can't enter recovery as the phone will enter clockworkmod then abort and reboot the phone. Not sure what to do at this point as I tried one of the guides and couldn't figure it out. If anyone can help me I'd greatly appreciate it. At least I backed everything up on my computer manually and am using my iPhone 4 until I can get this fixed. Thanks in advance.

How do I reflash recovery when I can't access the filesystem? Do I need to setup ADB and connect to my phone via command line to initiate the transfer? Can you link me to a thread that explains how to setup ADB in a case like this? Thanks
You need to reflash cwm. I'll try find a link. But after recovery is working you would have to use ad b to sideload the Rom. Have you tried from bootloader fastboot erase cache?

My biggest issue is being able to reflash clockworkmod. If I could that out of the way, I already have the rom on the phone storage, so I should in theory be able to reflash I'd think.
I don't have the option to delete cache within the bootloader under fastboot

How did you get your One rooted, then?
You need to install ADB/Fastboot on your computer. Best to create a folder directly on C:
In that folder you also copy the .img of the recovery (you need latest TWRP for 4.4 ROMs)
Now, once ADB/Fastboot Folder is set up, the TWRP download is copied into the same folder, you go to your bootloader and connect the One via USB and select FASTBOOT (red letters) and once connected you see (USB)
You open a CMD window (START and type cmd) , in that window you point to the fastboot folder:
cd c:\fastboot (or whatever name you choose as in link above)
fastboot erase cache (enter)
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.4-m7ul.img (enter)
fastboot erase cache (enter)
you see the commands running in the cmd window
after that you can choose inside the recovery the ADVANCED option and SIDELOAD ADB
I have not done that, so you need to search the forum on how to do that.

Screenshot to see the Fastboot folder on my laptop with the TWRP file in it
Just saw that you still have the .zip of your ROM on your internal storage. So just choose to install that and that's it! Be careful with the wiping option and only choose factory reset or cache/dalvik and never system!

Just tried everything and it worked 100%! Can't thank you enough!
I know this one has been answered a few times in pieces, and somewhat understandable manner. However, I wanted to decrypt this for everyone to be able to understand how to do it and to overcome this particular issue.
Issue: You have a custom recovery installed and your LG G2 prompts you to install the new OTA (i.e. KitKat update). You then accidentally/unknowing of consequences accept the update. Your phone restarts and keeps going to the custom recovery which you had installed, instead of booting to the update. You endlessly try to boot to your phone, but it just keeps going back to your custom recovery.
Things to do ahead:
1. Have LG G2 drivers installed on computer you will be using. You can get those from the LG website easily by searching LG G2.
2. Obtain ADB and fastboot files from HERE
3. Obtain working TWRP vs 2.7.0 from HERE if you don't have the TWRP recovery installed (i.e. if you're using CWM or Philz recovery).
Recovery Procedure:
1. If you have TWRP recovery installed, proceed from step 9
2. If you have CWM or Philz recovery installed, follow these next steps.
3. When inside CWM/Philz recovery, click on option to install zip.
4. Have your phone connected to a computer which has the LG G2 drivers installed, found on LG's site. Make sure to install drivers without phone connected to computer first. After installing, restart computer, and then plug phone to computer USB port.
5. Now that you have the phone plugged to comp, and that the comp has recognized your phone, open up CMD and navigate to the folder where you have your ADB file located and workable TWRP recovery zip file.
6. Once there, click on install using sideload on your phone's custom recovery which should be located inside the install zip option.
7. Then type in CMD on computer this: ADB sideload TWRP-file-name.zip
Note. Replace TWRP-file-name.zip with whatever the TWRP zip file on your computer is named to the letter.
8. Your phone will install TWRP recovery at this point. Once it finishes, restart your phone by rebooting recovery (should be an option somewhere there in the main level of the recovery)
9. TWRP should boot now. Once inside TWRP, click on Advance
10. Then click on Terminal Command
11. Next click on Select
Note: Do not navigate to any other folder. Just click on Select. You'll know what I mean once your in Terminal Command.
11. Type this command in the space provided in your phone (NOT in CMD) which should be now in Terminal Command mode exactly to the last letter. I'm not kidding; don't miss a character or replace a number. You risk nuking your phone. Double check your typing.
Type this: dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/fota
Note: You should note that there is a space between dd and if=/dev, and another space between /zero and of=/dev
12. Once the command finishes running, about 30 seconds or less, restart phone. And voila. Your phone should boot back to your pre-selecting update with OTA mode.
In my case, I wiped everything and tried restoring one of my nandroids. That did not help me boot my phone. However, when I did the above mentioned steps, my phone booted to my backed up state which I installed prior.
Hopefully you don't end up being a victim of this. But if you are, now you can confidently bring yourself back :good:
Good luck and share your progress. Thanks!

I repeated this three times, and no luck... any suggestions?
I did it a tad differently. I am running Windows 7.
First I downloaded these universal drivers so my phone was recognized under Device Manager, went to my adb directory with command prompt and typed the following:
adb shell
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/fota
I just preferred using the keyboard, but your directions will work, too.
secure booting error
got the OTA update ...after that boots to Logo with a "secure booting error" message then a black screen, can't go to download mode, phone is recognized as QHSUSB in device manager, factory recovery doesn't work.
what can be done in this case??

oh no, well here goes, your going to need it, especially as your in a bootloop.
so download and install this, everything including the drivers, the file must be run as administrator: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
then download this img file and put it in the same folder as fastboot and adb that you just installed: http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/m7/openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img
open a command windows (CMD window) in that same folder, to do this, hold down control & shift & right mouse click on any white area in that folder and select open command window here.
with your phone plugged into the computer and in fastboot USB mode type the following command one at a time
Code:
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
let me know when that's done

that was quick, enter recovery, and select wipe, swipe to factory reset then I always go into advanced wipe too and select everything except internal storage.
once done, go back to the main screen of recovery, main screen only, no sub menu's.
download the rom again and put in the same folder as adb and fastboot again.
then with your phone plugged in, rom in the folder, and a command window open type:
Code:
adb push (name-of-rom).zip /sdcard/
takes a while and will look unresponsive but the cmd window will let you know when its done.
once done, unplug your phone, and slect install, select the rom from the list and swipe to begin the install.

Hi Seanie,
I followed the instructions on this post, as I was having a similar problem. I installed the Apolo7 v4.1 rom on my phone using CWM instead of TWRP and entered a boot loop. After following your instructions for installing ADB and flashing TWRP, when I try to enter recovery to perform a wipe it won't and goes back into a boot loop wherein it is perpetually trying to enter recovery. Any suggestions?
thanks!

Hello,
I'm requesting for your help.
I have installed TWRP using fastboot mode.

Happens that after this I select install to install the new rom, but the Zip file has dissapear. So now i don't have OS and I can't access to mobile memory to paste de ROM Zip file.
@VGCC no offence intende but.. why post it here on "Xiaomi Mi 5 ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Other Development" when there is a section called "Xiaomi Mi5 Questions & Answers"?
Tell me.
Sorry.
It was a desperate act.
And i thought this was the right area!
Sorry.
@VGCC you can restore your phone as follow:
Download the flashable zip of Miui7/8/CM13
Download adb/fastboot driver
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48915118#post48915118
Install Drivers
Go into TWRP
Go into Advanced - Sideload
Rename the zip (example: cm-13.0-gemini-UNOFFICIAL.zip) to a.zip
Copy it onto your Desktop
While pressing shift key -> left click -> open command windows here
type "adb devices" without quotes
you should see adb device and some numbers
then type adb sideload a.zip
wait, and you are ready to go

You can use twrp to put it into adb mode and install the rom that way. Use Google for instructions
