Quick someone grab the ota.zip before they reboot lol
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk

waiting waiting waiting. I hope it comes tonight to my nexus 7!

Has anyone picked it up yet? I've been mashing the check now button every twenty minutes since I read the G+ post a few hours ago. Just wondering if anyone got it yet.. Really not looking forward to having to uninstall multi-rom and set up all my roms again though.

How can I get the OTA if I'm rooted ?

You can flash it manually once someone posts the files from OTA.

Make sure you have the stock recovery installed or the OTA will fail to install. No one ever knows if root will survive a OTA until people start getting it and finding out. For me it has never stuck, I always have to re-root.

How do I get back to OTA? I just want KitKat!

If anyone gets the OTA do this before you reboot:
adb devices
adb logcat -d -f /sdcard/logcat.txt *:V
and post the link.

I got the OTA but my 7 year old twins were using the tablet at the time and before I could grab the OTA I was rebooting into TWRP and installing. But now I am stuck at new Kit Kat boot animation. Any help would be appreciated.

Custom recovery kills OTA, it wont install and puts you in a boot loop. Use Wugs Toolkit to go back to stock 4.3 and make sure soft bricked/boot loop is checked.

Yeah but the new multiRom installer app makes the process alot quicker. And most of my extra roms have independent kernels so I can do individual nandroids of them.. MultiRom is such a genius mod.

Waiting

OTA Update

Here's the zip of the OTA that was pushed out. It won't install through either CWM or TWRP, so can someone who's more knowledgeable in these matters make it flashable?
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/821854/OTAPkg.zip
And in case it helps, here's the log from CWM from trying to flash it manually:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/821854/recovery.log
And yes, as with any OTA, you run the risk of losing root, etc. But for me, I really don't care. I've even tried pushing the included stock recovery, but it doesn't work like this. You get a phone with an exclamation point over it (I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about) when you try to boot into that recovery. A quick push of TWRP back onto the phone fixed that error, but I still can't flash the update, obviously. Anyone want to take a crack at it?
Thanks to nuclear_eclipse for getting this and the log for us!

That symbol just means that it doesn't know what file to use for the update; this is part of what get's communicated somehow from the OS to the recovery during reboot, but I'm not familiar enough with the way recoveries work to know how to trigger that myself. I would assume this is a similar mechanism to how ROM Manager et al can tell CWM/TWRP what to flash.

That makes total sense. I guess it's not automatically checking the folder that Software Update puts it in. I've got another 22 hours until I can get Software Update to check again. I'll push the stock recovery before I do that, unless someone makes this flashable through TWRP or CWM before then.
In my stock Rom thread there are new files up. They are the ota roms. So if you are running stock, download the odex one ending in 1.08 and flash in recovery, no need to wipe data. Then pull boot.img and fastboot flash it. You now have the ota software. I will post instructions to upgrade the firmware that came with the ota

Just went to pull that for you but realized im not rooted right now. Planning on rooting again soon if you still need it later message me
Thanks!,
I just realized I have a bigger problem now anyways, ADB says device is offline which means I could not push it anyways.
Looking for other options now.

yes, I took the MJ5 update, so MI9 is not an option,
I modified the framework-res which caused a soft brick, however I must not had turned on debugging in dev options prior to doing so, so I cannot use adb to push anything as it sees the device but is offline.
I could sideload an update.zip in recovery it has to be signed or else it would fail...
Any suggestions?
Are you booting at all and getting fcs or no boot what so ever?

Android 5.0.1

It showed up this morning for me on T-Mobile, Folsom, CA. but I didn't go for it yet.
No problems for me so far. Seems about the same as 5.0
Thanks!
Seems like only yesterday I re-rooted after going to 5.0.
My OTA failed. I have put stock recovery back but I am still rooted and have installed the custom LTE radios. Would one of the two be causing the problem?
Well, With 0 knowledge in the world of compiling and recompiling - can someone assist and build an flashable update to those who have closed bootloader but has TWRP recovery? (I've closed it in the past)..

One question why would you install TWRP and reclose the bootloader? That doesn't make scense.

Yes. Both will cause it to fail.
Flash the factory image manually (leave out the "-w" to keep your data), then re-root / flash radio if desired.

In the past I used to install custom roms. I've stopped but the TWRP was still on there.. and the locked bootloader is a mistake that iv'e made :/
well, got any clue what can I do without opening the bootloader once again?
you could root your phone and reopen the bootloader with an app called boot unlocker.
Long story short, I finally got the job done with Wugfresh Nexus Root Toolkit, what a breeze.
Any changelogs?
Is the upgrade worth?
Better than 5.0
rooting 5.0.1
Is the any difference in rooting 5.0.1 compared to 5.0?

Does anybody get mobile internet connection issues like slowing down or anything like that after 5.0.1?

This should be your device's matter.
Either reflash the same or try other radio.

Phone showed 5.0.1 update ready but went to twrp

So my phone is rooted with unlocked bootloader running faux kernel. I just received the ota update and clicked the button for restart and install. When I did that it brought me to my main option list in twrp. I didn't know what to do so I hit reboot system. It rebooted but nothing showed updating when I did that. Showing I'm still on 5.0.0.
What did I need to do? How do I still update now?
You cannot accept ota if you're modified.
You'll have to flash a ROM.zip or fastboot flash system.and boot image.from the factory images

See that's what I thought but was confused that I got the ota. I'm having a problem finding the rom.zip. Only finding images and I don't want that. Do you happen to have a link?

If you download the image from google there is a zip drive with the files you are looking for inside of them. You can fastboot them individually.
Or you could just flash one of the many roms on here that are using the newer 5.0.2

That's the thing, I was trying to keep it relatively stock for a while. I don't see any reliable roms out there yet.
Give Sinless rom a try. There is a thread on here for it. It is based off of the office 5.0.1 image and not aosp. Great speed and features and decrypted

Help Please! Downgrading from 5.1.1 PA3 to 4.4.2

Hey everyone, I'm new to the galaxy s5 but not to xda and rooting, buy anyway I bought this with 5.1.1 PA3 Build any realized I couldn't root it on this current firmware version, is there any way to root this device or temp root it so I can try done of the s7 edge roms out there for the s5
It is Not able to. bootloader is so locked up, that once it goes form 5.0 to 5.1, you cannot go backwards from that point.
