I received the OTA .906 update and now my phone is unrooted! Does anyone know if the one click still works with this update? How is this even possible? If anyone knows how to re-root my previously rooted phone please help.
Did you even read the other threads about this update? (one of which you even POSTED in!)
One click root doesn't work anymore. Motofail works.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1644207
And i admit im guilty of it once but lets not keep posting questions in the dev section

Not flaming or anything but I'm tired of people posting general stuff in the dev section, our dev section is becoming less and less of a dev section now and more of a general section. Please stop

Isnt posting all theese negative comments just as bad?
A forum is a forum and people with ask their questions or post their comments no matter how you/we feel..isnt the best thing to answer the question and move on? Seems logical to me
Yes that is true but that is why there is different sections. Post in the section relevant to your topic, and if you have a question about the ota post it in the ota post, don't start an entirely new topic. It makes things cluttered

Ok, so I know just enough to get myself into trouble. I've looked at multiple ROMs on this site and installed a couple different ones. I can't keep of track which one I installed most recently. Can someone please help me figure it out, if possible, from the attached screen shot?
I'd like to know which ROM it is and if there is a newer version of the same ROM that I could flash?
Please help!
Thanks!
You're running what is now Team Nyx ICS. Backup and wipe data before flashing. There is a new version out.

So, you're talking about the one located here:
http://team-nyx.com/index.php/releases
Right?
It would seem that there has only been one update since the ROM installed. Not sure I can tell if there are any useful updates in the newer ROM.
There are so many ROMs out there. How is anyone supposed to figure out which one is the best one?
Thanks for the reply!

Questions never belong in Development. Ever.
Sorry, thought since it was a question about a ROM and not stock stuff, it was more like a development question. Sorry about the wrong placement, but please know that I did consider my placement, just got it wrong..
Thanks for keeping things organized!
As per the title, I'm wondering if this is now possible? I've checked via settings => update - but it says no update available.
- Is this update now available?
- If so, does it only apply to phones that are rooted? How do I go about getting the phone rooted?
This should be q&a, report yourself.
There is a leaked version out called ls7 or ls2,both available to download in development section. As they're leaks, you'll need to be rooted, follow drive ketans thread on rooting, easiest way is to install philz kernel via stock recovery.
Don't post questions in general, it's possible they'll just be closed.

Hi there. Apologies - upon reflection, you're quite right. I didn't notice the Q&A subsection when I went to post initially. Just saw 'general' and thought this would fit into general. Mods, please move as necessary.

Or he stopped reading after the phrase he quoted ofcourse...
He needs to read a LOT. spoonfeeding the procedure is dangerous if he is not even reading the replies.

Back up the bus people. You originally posted this;
"This should be q&a, report yourself."
Clearly, you came back and edited your post later. I thank you for that - but people, ease up on the assumptions and judgements. I never asked for spoonfeeding from anyone!
Is there a likelihood that this upgrade will be officially supported at some stage?

You are correct, I did only post that originally because usually posts are closed immediately in general, but I edited way before you replied, pretty much straight after, certainly not after 3 days that it took for your response.

Yes available as a leak.
The update is not official till at least December.
That is why you couldn't see a new JB update from Software Update (OTA).

You need not necessarily be rooted to install JB.
You can flash XXLS2, the earliest leak available from Odin 3.04 (The ROM flasher for Sammy phones)
XXLS7 is known to be unsoundly slow. It's probably not optimised yet from Sammy's side.
However the infamous Multi-window feature is available on XXLS7.
If you really want the latest and greatest aka XXLS7 with all the bells and whistles,
you need to be rooted. As for that, do your own research. :victory:

I assume you mean XXLS7 from leak, not XXLS7 cooked by xda devs. Because the last one is actually faster than XXLS2, and battery life better. No match.
@livebyte : Thanks for taking the time out for your comprehensive post. I think I will hold off and wait for the official update. That was what I was referring to when I posted initially. I appreciate that there are alternative roms available - but if the official becomes available sometime this month, then I guess that's the path of least resistance.

So I am newer to the development for custom recoveries for LG phones. Knowing that the loki is still locked it doesn't mean we can't start working on some new ROM's and the custom recoveries for the phone. So I thought I would open this up so that we can start working on it together on what we are all waiting for: custom recovery with a cool ROM and modding some of the features and apks that came with the phone (quick remote, q slide, etc.).
I am starting with the TWRP and CM that have been made for the G2 in the hopes that it won't take as long to develop. Would making a repo on github be the easiest way to host the code and have source control? I look forward to working and learning from those who choose to participate.

That would be the way to go!! I would love to help out but unfortunately my knowledge is nill when it comes to custom recoveries and such!! But count me in if a tester(guinea pig) is needed for testing! Whatever gets us closer to having a working recovery!! Count me IN!!!

The custom recovery is not possible at the moment with a locked bootloader, and unless it gets FreeGee or Loki a custom recovery won't be possible, unless you have safestrap. Which you'll need @Hashcode for that.
But as far as modding APKs, that's easy, pull them using adb or copy, decompile, make your mods, compile, and push back to phone. Adb might be best, and I suggest a shell stop if pushing framework or systemUI.
While its awesome your wanting to contribute to the community however, this thread should be moved to general.

I've been using XPosed for the time being. I was hoping that maybe we'd get lucky and somebody would be able to find a way around the bootloader with Safestrap.. I will just keep my toes crossed for the time being. Thanks for the info though..:good:

I can definitely move it to general if that is the rule, but I am doing this in anticipation for either an unlocked loki or boot loader. I'm sure it won't be that long before one or the other is unlocked.
Thanks for the info on the apks I appreciate it. I've been doing android development for a while now but haven't really gotten into the ROMs more than modding some of the CM and PSX ROM s on my rooted development phones and tablets. I was hoping to start this thread to get some people in on the Flex development so we could figure out an exploit or workaround on the boot loader or loki. The more we know about the device itself The better to understand how to work around the vendor's security right? And if there is development being done then you would want it in a development thread right? If I am wrong then I will apologize and move it.

I have been waiting patiently for this and am so excited at how quickly things are moving for this device. It really shouldn't be too very much longer but in the meantime I will continue working on my ROM and patiently wait for those that are working on this to make it so we don't brick our devices trying to unlock what LG doesn't seem like they want unlocked. And to be honest I'm not that impressed with the LG ROM but I do like aspects. The quick remote is nice and the quick slide has proved useful so I would like to keep those but get rid of all the bloat and that LG keyboard.

As to who is working on what I will allow them to tell you. This really wasn't a thread to steal the thunder from the developers that are working so hard to access what we currently can't. I put this thread up to start a dialogue on ROM creation in anticipation for the unlocked loki or bootloader. Having said that I will keep everyone updated on what I hear but I am going to let the people that are doing it post if first so as to not steal their thunder.
What do you guys think, as we wait patiently for news :/ would be the best base for a custom ROM for the Flex? CyanogenMod, AOSP, AOKP, or maybe PSX? I have started two different ROM projects; one CyanogenMod and a vanilla AOSP ROM which seams to be easier to work with if you are newer to the ROM building process. I'm interested to here a why and how from those who have built a ROM from compiling to posting. So what are we thinking for the Flex because it is going to be interesting because of the screen size and native resolution.

How do I overclock my Samsung Exhibit. T599n? I purchased it at MetroPCS 2 days ago and rooted using Cydia Impactor. I do not know much of anything about this device. So first I need to find out if it is possible to overclock.
I appreciate any input.
Since this forum is for the T679, you won't find much help here. As far as I know they don't have a dedicated forum on XDA for your phone. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Ok. It's there... General disussion of the T599n. Now I have some info! And some reading to do.
Today I reformatted my 32GB sd card on my computer. Then I was able to use it again. Then I reinstalled Busybox, then opened the AParted app. Made 2 partitions and rebooted. Then I opened Link2sd, set primary partition as EXT4. Rebooted. Opened LINK2SD again and linked all non-system files. Haven't tested it yet. Will get back with how it's working.
