I broke Google Apps. Help? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok so I started dabbling in rooting my HTC one got the boot unlocked and everything and was working on installing CMod. With CMod you require the Googleapps.zip too but I foolishly put Googleapps.zip on top of the load list and the Rom didn't install but the Googleapps did. So when I loaded up my phone after none of my google services are working now and it keeps giving me error messages.
Obviously this is my own fault for not doing a backup also before I tried this but is there any way at all I can fix this?
Any suggestions are welcome.

Have you tried to flash the gapps now?

Hanging on Install/Uninstall

Disclaimer: did several forum searches and google searches and came up empty, so if I missed the exact wording and this is covered elsewhere please don't flame me into oblivion.
For some reason my Nexus One running FRF85B is unable to install or uninstall any apk's. It just hangs at the installing... or uninstalling... respectively. Has anyone else ever seen that?
Installing has always been really darn quick. Now it just appears to be hanging.
EDIT: Adding new symptom: "Manage Applications" shows the apps installed , but their space is forever listed as "Computing...". It's like the manage applications service is just hosed.

I have seen that as well. I would have to exit (back or home) then when I got back to the applications screen again it wouldn't have to load at all.
Same here, AT&T Nexus One using FRF85B.
The weird thing is, the app(s) actually DO uninstall or install correctly, just that the Market page shows it's not, and hangs at it.
When I force stop the market, then relaunch and check my downloads, they're now reset to the correct info.
Well I'm glad it is not just me. Thinking it was a bad ROM I reinstalled (with complete wipe) Modaco's ROM, then stock Froyo, etc.
Problem went away when I just said screw it and installed CM 5.0.8.
The only problem that persists now is the server error going to the downloads tab of the market. I can't seem to lick that one even though apps download and install fine from the market.
On a side note CM5.0.8 still is snappier than Froyo. I'm salivating at the thought of CM6.
If anyone is also getting persistent errors with the market downloads tab, please chime in. I find it suspicious that I'm having this problem regardless of which ROM is installed.

No matter what I do I still get the server error in the Android Market application when I go to the downloads tab.
I've re-flashed the Froyo Radio and tried both CM 5.0.8 and Froyo.
I don't see others complaining about this so I have to imagine there's something wrong on my end. I just don't know how to diagnose it. Does anyone have any ideas? At All?

I did see that in the CM 5.0.8 ROM, but Froyo is a complete no-go. I've reflashed the radio, and have been using Modaco's ROM because it is the only one I know of that is just a rooted update I can flash with Amon-RA's recovery, but still no luck.
This is scary.
UPDATE
I went all the way back to Stock, Unrooted 2.1 from January, and still get the server error in the downloads page of the Market app. So for giggles, I wiped, created a new gmail account, and lo and behold, everything works. I could download apps, and they showed up in the download tab as installed.
That pretty much puts an end to thinking it's an app/ROM/radio problem, I think.
I then wiped again, went through initial setup with my primary Google account and I'm back to server errors on the downloads tab.
I guess maybe it really IS a server error. Don't know what I can do about it, except gripe...but at least I can stop scratching my head over what ROM/Radio is installed.
After several days of experimenting, the fact is that on any Froyo rom, whether it's stock or rooted, google's or cyanogen's, wiped or not wiped, new gmail account or existing gmail account, what I'm seeing is that, even if I wipe, go into Android and DO NOT enter a google account, going straight to settings | Manage Applications | running applications, shows "Computing..." forever.
Now, if I do a full wipe, it doesn't know anything about my account, right? And the cache, and all that are all wiped. So, what could possibly cause the infinite "Computing..." in the apps?
Does anyone know?
It happened to me as well last night. I was installing an apk (updating over an older version), and it showed "Installing...." forever. No hardware button gave me any response and I eventually had to reboot the machine by pressing the 3 buttons (luckily this worked. I really hate the thought of pulling the battery out...). After the reboot I tried again and it installed without a problem.
I m on a stock Nexus One FRF91, never hv an issue b4 that latest system update. Looks like it is bringing more issues to me...
what 3 buttons reboot the phone?
The same thing is happening to me. When trying to install any market app, it just hangs at "installing. I have to reboot the phone to get it to stop doing it.
Every once in a while, about 1 out of 15 times, I can get an app to install correctly and quickly, but all the other times it hangs.
It started happening when going to froyo. I have tried several different froyo mods and the same thing happens on all of them. When I nandroid back to 2.1 it is fine.
It happens to me with the Rodriguezstyle mod, the Kang-O_rama mod and the evil n-one shot Noir mod.
In order to fix this issue. You MUST do the following steps:
1. Wipe the SD card.
2. Wipe ext partition (if there)
3. Delete spareparts if you have it ANYWHERE on the system
4. Reboot the system into recovery
5. Wipe all cache's
Tada! Fixed!
This fixed it for me on Kang-O-Rama.
I belive the problem is when moving ROMs and the new app2SD feature stores files on the SD. When moving ROM's, it try's to scan them but fails. Something is stuck in a loop and wont stop .
When taking out the SD card, it ALL works flawlessly (give it a go if you need to install some apps to help)

Press the trackball, volume down and the power button all at the same time.
If you have root then the app quick boot is a one click solution.
When I was or do have a stalling at the install. I clear the market data and this works for me. I also try to keep the cache clear.

Installing or uninstalling apps get stuck

I went to install Factbook from the market yesterday and it just got stuck on "Installing..." so i killed the app and tried again but had the same problem. I tried other apps and they all froze as well. Now i can't seem to install or uninstall any app and all the apps on my sd card refuse to work. If i go into the application manager and select an app, all the fields just sit at "Computing..." I was able to fix it once by clearing the cache in recovery, but now Factbook and the other apps i tried to install after it just sit in the market as Free but not installed. Trying to install any new app will make the installer/uninstaller crap out again. This sd card is brand new and i've had no problems with it until now. Anything I can try to fix it?
Currently running FRF91 not rooted (waiting for Cyanogen 6 to release)
Did you manage to solve your problem? I'm facing the same exact issue right now.
I had this issue since frf85, somehow today it went away. I think Google fixed it on their end.

[Help req] Galaxy S unresponsive !

Hello Guys.
I actually have a problem. I flashed my phone with the firmware which has the bootloader on it. Gingerbread 2.3.3. JVJPG
It worked perfectly for about 2-3 weeks. Then i did something foolish. i forcestopped the 'maps' process . Thought it might free up some RAM.
now after that i continuously been getting the 'maps has been unresponsive and would forced stop' message on the phone. So to get rid of it I flashed the phone against thinking it would reinstall . But no. I kept getting that message after flashing aswell together with OTHER APPS also started giving the message.
i have cleared the cachet and factory reset the phone BUT STILL those APPS remain on the phone. they dont work just continuously gives the force stopped messages. The camera works but doesn't save the pics. Any app i want to d/L . it doesnt install says something about ' package is unresponsive'.
Thankfully the downland mode works. I flashed it yet again with FROYO but now it seem like the whole system has crashed !!
The wierd thing is that APPS dont seem to get uninstalled and no date is lost even after factory reset.
Can anyone help me with this ?
Also even if i uninstall the apps. after restarting the phone. they just remain on the phone !
but don't work
Got the firmware for this thead:

I get the following unresponsive and need to close down messages :
google partner setup
Google services framework
maps
etc.
Also process system is unresponsive.
Flash back to stock firmware, install a kernel with CWM recovery, download your chosen rom, before installing, reboot into recovery, before installing, got to mounts and storage, format system, data, cache and datadata, then wipe dalvik, then install custom rom all should be fine after that let me know bud
Sent from my CM7 modded I9000. Kernel is one mean son of a Glitch!
Thanks a lot Djice for the reply. I had an inkling that i had to meddle with the kernel now :s
The problem is I have never meddling with the kernel before. Can you help me find a suitable tutorial for all those steps?
I'll search for em as well.
Guys, Any detailed help?
havn't been able to solve the problem still.

[Q] Can't receive notifications anymore ! Need Help !

Hi everyone,
I've owned a HTC One since 3 months now, and I started trying to customize it a little. So, I followed the different guides I found on this site, and successfully managed to unlock my bootloader, install TWRP and finally flash a custom rom.
I flashed the Android Revolution HD v12.1 , and everything worked fine. Then, I made a backup with Titanium Backup Pro, no problem again. So I decided to push a little further by installing the CM 10.1 nightly version for the One; indeed, that's a nightly, for sure. I then got back to my previous custom rom and used my TB's backup to restore my datas.
I did not notice the problem immediately, but it was obviously present from the beginning : it appears that I'm not receiving anymore any notifications coming from any app I installed from the Store. I tried to uninstall then install the apps again, did not work. I looked a little bit in TB's option and I found one called "Manage Android ID", TB told me my One had a different Android ID from the previous one; I tried to restore the previous one, but still, I don't receive any notification from my apps !
I have no problem with message, call, missed call... notifications.
So, how can I fix this quite annoying problem ?
Thanks a lot.
A little bump, I need you guys!
try formatting your phone and installing an app, then check for notifications.
Ideally before changing from ARHD to CM, you should format the phone. Also titanium backup tends to have issues when you restore across different implementations.
Currently, I have ARHD. I just tried CM but TB tends to bug the entire system while restoring, anyway that's not the problem.
Of course, even though I didn't mention it, I made a FULL Wipe with TWRP each time I installed a new ROM.
I think -obviously I'd say- that the problem is caused by TB, but I'd like to know if there is any possibility to fix it without wiping the phone and installing ARHD, without using TB; Doing it this way would solve the problem I guess, but if I could avoid to lose quite a lot of data, I'd be glad !
Thanks for trying to help me.

Google Now and others resetting when phone restarts (please help!)

I have tried everything and nothing works, so I am coming to this expert forum for help!
So, in March I downloaded the TWRP 3.1.0 for my rooted OP 3T and installed it. When I updated my LineageOS version a couple of days later, it didn't install properly, an error came up... and something in Google broke. The TWRP 3.1.0 wasn't working properly, so I downgraded to 3.0.3 and went back some days in LineageOS, but the damage was done.
This is what happens now each time I restart the phone:
- Google Now resets (I need to re-sign up for it every time I start the phone)
- Google Play Store resets (I need to uncheck the autoupdate, the new icons for new apps, etc)
- Contacts and Calendar data resets and downloads again
- Phone calls disappear
- Google Now Launcher resets (bloody annoying, I have to use Nova Launcher because of this)
- For the first week, GMail was not starting, luckily I updated the GApps and it started working again
It's almost like some Google account data is being wiped every time I restart, which is extremely annoying.
I have since upgraded TWRP to 3.1.1 and all works smoothly with installs etc, but the above persist.
I have tried updating Google Play Services, GApps, Lineage OS, have tried wiping all the partitions (literally), I really don't know what else to do. Anyone with a clue?
Many thanks!!!
Just to follow up, it seems to have been fixed after I literally wiped ALL partitions, including all data (I had to sideload the OS and GApps!). Anyway, hope it helps anyone who had this same problem. Cheers!
