Hello!
True story: while listening to music through my headphones I was looking at the headphonejack cover (which makes it waterproof) and wondering that it is, compared to my old Moto Defy, quite fragile.
2 seconds later I drop the freaking thing and it hits right the ground right on the cover and it breaks in half...
Anyways I have found spare parts here:
http://stellatech.com/sony-lt25i-xperia-v-audio-stecker-cover-(schwarz),a,de,814797.html
I come from germany, so this would be no problem, however I wonder how do i insert the retaining mechanism without opening the xperia? I dont want to void the warranty completely!
And yes, the cover is important to me, I need it to be waterproof!
Thanks for your advice and experience!
Dan
I just want to thank you for the link. My USB cover is broken after 4 months only. Seems on the long run a shocking expensive OEM dock is cheaper than replacing these.
you are welcome.
I think the USB-Cover will be next...especially since I need to charge it quite often. With my DEFY the covers held the whole 3 years of intense usage...
OT: which dockingstation do you use for the V!? the only one i can find with different plugs than the micro USB is for the Z!?

Sony DK25. Look on Ebay. Haven't bought it yet. The price is so scary.
I am using a Chinese type that is meant for the Z, modded, but this is not good I don't recommend it.

well...I think a dock is very impractical anyways. i think this is a perfect time for building something ourselves. Isnt it just a 2 pole magnet plug, to 5V usb!?
Are there any technical specifications avaiable? I would find a plug much more practical than a docking station!

If I have the part there are plenty small handphone workshops here who can do that for a few $. Sorry I also don't know what you want to know.
With a smart design it would be just squeezing the part into some hole for self installation, and Sony would sell these caps in packs of 3 for $ 9.95.

I was wondering if anyone has any links to dust caps for the mini-USB and 3.5mm phone jack?
I don't use the phone jack all that much and I noticed it getting a bit dusty.
Cheers!
i would like this,
just go to mobile phone shops and pinch the ones of the dummy models, any one surely other manufacturers have caps for this sort of thing.
which phone originally have this? cause dummy phone is exactly the same like the actual model so i think xperia dummy also should not have right
ahh dust caps.. In need of those!
There are only 2 solutions:
1) http://www.instructables.com/id/Apple-IPhone-Headphone-Jack-Plug/
2) http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.15259
Tell me if you ordered one for the Xperia. [iphone 3G headphone socket/port should be the same as Xperia's port]. After that tell me if it is a good plug.
i mean pinch them of any dummy phone not the xperia dummy model,
gotta pop to voda shop todaytake my GF crappy W980 back for repair 6 times now, ill have a look,
im not gonna pay for a small piece of rubber.
Dust caps... hmm... sounds useful... unfortunately haven't heard of anything like for these either over here in Singapore.
same here. if any news for where to find in Singapore pls share.

all you would need to do is trim some bits off the psp headphone cap and its done
I'm soon gonna buy an used Sony Ericsson Xperia, but the thing is that it's battery cover and front buttons are a little scratched. I was thinking of buying a full housing but soon changed my mind due to it's price(80€). And besides, i don't need a new Qwerty keyboard and camera cover. So i checked for a dummy phone, which has a price of 25€. I was thinking, is it possible to remove it's battery cover and front buttons and place them on a real Xperia X1?
Here is the link to the dummy phone: http://cnn.cn/shop/sonyericsson-xperia-dummy-phone-p-6107.html
why dont u call sony ericsson and tell them about ur battery cover? i did and got a new one few days ago

I know some people from UK and USA, but then again, the shipping will cost some money. And besides, It's not just about the battery cover, but about the front buttons too. That's is why i'm asking if Dummy phone parts are removeable. If they aren't, then i'll just buy a battery cover from Cnn, as you suggested.
So, do you maybe know if it's possible to disassemble a dummy phone?
Thanks for you answers
Just buy a battery cover from ebay or something.
shipping should not be much dude, i got SE to post my cover to my mother in the USA which the paid for, she only paid about $4.00 usd to post the package here (barbados) regular post...it took about a week
i dont know anything about dummy phones except that they do not make them 100% like the original
Nope, dummy phone parts are usually not removable... at least, not in the way you want them to be XD None of the ones where I work are, so I'd say it's a safe assumption that you'd be better off buying new parts.

The front buttons seems to be included in a front cover. See for yourself here: http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/x1-front-cover-p19247.htm

Thanks for the link. Helped me a lot. But, is it possible to buy front cover and battery cover together?
Like this: http://mobile.brando.com/sony-erics...ment-front-battery-cover_p04302c0670d088.html
Just with the soft buttons included?
It appears to me being a f***ing nightmare to change the housing of the X1...

Well, mobilefun sells both parts, just not bundled (battery cover £17.56). I suppose you're looking for a cheeper price and there I can't help you. I've shopped at mobilefun before and they work flawlessly even with orders abroad as in my case.

Well thanks for the help. The faceplate looks really awesome, but i think it's overpriced. At lease in my opinion.
You can see for the battery cover which is £17.56(about 18€?), while on the cnn.cn is only 10.99€(about 8€). It's a shame they don't sell the faceplate tho
Battery cover on the dummy phone is plastic. The battery cover is the same piece as the entire bottom housing.
On the back of the screen when the keyboard is open...those little rubber screw covers have fallen off on my xperia! Any idea where i can get some from can they be removed from a dummy phone ?
Thanks
my OEM battery is a goner, due natural aging.
got 2 after market ebay batteries, they sucks big time, they were fine for the first 2~3 weeks, but now one of them died already
the plastic casing they come in, are made of poor material, and broke down already after your regular swap in/out of a daily normal use.
i want to get some OEM battery for our device, but i can not find it anyways, even the ones sold on those "trusted" e-stores are the fake replicas from the same sources of ebay.
they do not have the latch for the red button, and the 3 teeth pin is made of plastic instead of metal.
i want to keep using my device, but it wont last much longer without a decent battery.

I see that you are in Canada....do you have a Batteries Plus store (or equivalent) near you? A while back, I was able to get one from them by using the part number from the battery that is now 2 1/2 years old and works perfectly!
Hope this helps...... Later

Hi there,
the cover for the USB port of my HTC Dream /T-Mobile G1 became loose. The little plastic cable that holds it to the phone ripped but I still had it - I planned to glue the cover back to that plastic cable thing.
Unfortunately I lost that cover now. I was searching the web (including ebay) for replacement but even if I bought a complete housing they'd come without that little plastic cable holding the USB cover.
Does anybody know where to get replacement? By the way I would like to know where to get good (high quality) tools for opening the housing without breaking it.
I appreciate your help.
You would probably have to buy a broken phone and hope that the cover is still intact. While I managed to maintain that cover on mine, I did find it highly frustrating. Many people actually PREFERRED to rip it off. I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to replace it, since that cover really is quite redundant. You won't hurt anything by not having it.
Yes, you're right somehow, it is redundant. It looks a little ugly, though. Maybe someone can still point a way to that cover
2 bricked G1's for sale on ebay for parts:
http://cgi.ebay.com/2-BRICKED-G1-PH...652?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item20b72aa884
Thank's for the ebay link. I am already bidding on some broken phones on ebay.de. though. I though was hoping to find that cover as a sparepart somewhere.

Try topicovers.com if you are still having problems. I bought some and now is a big fan of them. Good luck!
I work outside and here it rains a lot. Its tempting to buy Sony Z1 or Samsung S4 Active. But damn, its boring phones!!! So is there a way to keep LG G2 dry?
The best would be a case, but if not, what do you recommend?
not sure while back I read about a company waterproofing phones with a special coating. Maybe worth a google

Thanks. I did before posting but didn't find anything useful. Still, have ordered it now, seems like a beast of a phone.
I think bachera was referring to something like this:
http://www.smartplanet.com/blog/thi...pany-will-8216waterproof-your-smartphone/9792
Article is a bit old so not sure if the company is still in business & doing this or if there are others doing it as well. Sounds really good, but until I hear of people repeatedly getting great results, I am a little hesitant. Especially since you have to send the phone away for a few days. I think I'd prefer to go for a good case.
More than a few days when I send it from here. Nah a good case would be nice.
The Active is a bit scary to me since ATT will only replace it once for water damage and from what I read its a temporary promotion.
If water resistance is a priority you might want to wait and see if one of waterproof skins that wrap your phone instead of a case do become available for LG G2.
However, your ports wont be usable and low or no sound i presume?

The Winnergear skin appears to only be available for the SIII, SIV, or iPhone 5.
iOttie is also not available for the G2.
check otterboxs website their launching a new one thats slim. Only not for our phone so maybe if all who wants it asks

Just a heads up to anyone interested in NeverWet who hasn't used it. In their video they show the guy waterproofing an iPhone... But, if you actually buy it ($20 @ Home Depot/elsewhere) it says (on the packaging) NOT to spray it on electronic devices (which totally contradicts their promotional video). I bought some just for the hell of it and it works (for the most part) but it does leave a nasty residue and tends to flake off as time progresses. Just an FYI.
