[Q] Android 4.0+ for Nexus One using a Mac? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I am wondering what is the most stable Android 4.2+ build for Nexus One?
Using a Mac only, I have downloaded MountSD and CM10.2 for 3.2, but how to execute them on a Mac?
There seems to be no instructions for a Mac user.
Please shred some light, thanks.

This is question should be posted in the Q&A section of Nexus One.
Any how, I will try to help.
You do not have to run anything from your mac. Just place the ROM zip in the SD card, boot into the recovery and install the zip.
Do the same for Mounts2SD, if you have the recovery flashable zip for it.

[Q] Virtuous Unity 1.31.0 on Inc S

Hi all,
Anybody has an idea why flashing this version on Incredible S does not work and shows a message "assert failed" (in the beginning - like it`s checking if the device is exactly what it has to be but it fails).
the MD5 of the image is okay.
Any ideas?

Which custom recovery do you have installed and are trying to flash with? You might want to try this one that was mentioned on the OP of The Virtuous thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1104765
Absolutely the same one.
Now I just tried Vituous Unity 2.33.0 Beta - and had the same problem again.
It looks to me like it tries to recognize the device as a different one.
Are there any links to older versions which have different ROMs for each device?

Do you know which model of the IncS you have? There is the S710A which is the North American version for Canada/USA and the S710E which has 3G bands for the rest of the world. Since you are now S-Off and have a custom recovery installed, it shouldn't make a difference, but there is definitely something amiss since you are having issues with multiple Roms.
Have you tried downloading the rom zip files directly to your phone's SD card?
The Virtous ROM refers to the Incredeible S as Incs rather than vivo (which is it's proper name). You need to edit the update-script and folder names to give it the right name

Yes - just to confirm that this is the solution.
Same issue. Some clarification needed.
I am a newbie to this fascinating would of rooting and am a proud owner of HTC Incredible S. I rooted the phone and installed the ROM Manager. These are the issues I faced :-
1) I could not find Virtuous Unity for download there.
2) When I downloaded the Virtuous Unity 1.31.0.zip from the website, copied it to my SD Card and tried to install it.. It installed the HTC Sense 2.1 instead of Sense 3.0!
Could someone please guide me as to how to change the update-scripts and which folders to rename so that I can install Virtuous Unity 1.31.0? I would be really grateful...
Probably you didn`t do a full wipe before installing the Virtuous Unity rom.
Try resetting to factory details - that might work for you.

You should be able to just use 4Ext to flash. Be sure backup and do a full wipe before you flash.
Can you tell me why this ROM does not work in the audio equalizer?
Thanks for the replies and sorry for my bad English
If you mean srs that doesn't work in the default music app. You have to use an app like poweramp to use srs.
Thanks for the help, it worked!!!

cyanogenmod 7.1 or phiremod 7.1?

Hey guys,
i'm going to root my nook color and I see there are two versions: cyanogenmod 7.1 and phiremod 7.1. I know phiremod 7.1 is based on cyanogenmod 7.1 but i'm just wondering which one is better to install into my nook color.
What do you think guys? give me some suggestions
I would just stick with CM7. Phiremod doesn't actually add anything feature wise. It is more of just a theme.
Sent from space
Also, Phiremod is not developing anymore so there is no support for his rom, other than fellow users..
I am having great success, along with others, with the MiRage rom.

I flashed the 1/26/2012 version of MiRage, and while it performs very well, I consistently get errors when connecting to the Market, making it unusable. (I installed the 20110828 version of gapps.) Suggestions?

What kind of errors? "Device not supported" can be fixed with build.prop. A good place to post would be in the Mirage thread, I'm using an earlier release of Mirage and I haven't had any errors with the Market (or anything else-other than the facebook app being wonky without a gps).
what version of clockwork mod are you using? I just went the rounds trying to help someone else out, to find out that she was using an outdated CWM. It should be 3.2.0.1.
Your gapps are the right version.
What procedure did you follow when you were flashing the rom?

Pdroid on Touchpad

any information on this? i tried patching the rom i currently have but, it just doesnt work. does anyone know a rom which works with pdroid ?
I don't think it supports ICS yet but if you're on CM7 then just flash the patch and it should work.
Use GOOGLE and XDA search to find the info you need please instead of starting a new thread asking for info that is already out there

i did do a search and i even tried following their method, it just doesnt work... my rom is cm 7 and it still doesnt work... im asking if anyone has intalled pdroid on their touchpad and what rom did they use so i can use the same one
no one has pdroid installed on their touchpad ?

HOW TO ROOT coming from ICS STOCK FIRMWARE?

Hi all,
I have European Version of the Galaxy Tab 8.9 P7310 Wifi only.
I at least waited for the official Stock ICS Update to finally go and root my phone now. My first impression is that I made my life a little bit harder now.
As is can see so far in the forum there is only the possibility to flash CWM recovery from odin and after that go root as described in suwandiapr thread here:
**NEWEST P7310 ICS FOR USA RETAIL**[STOCK ROM]GT-P7300/P7310 odin image at One Place
Now I have a few questions. Can I use this method described in the thread for my European Galaxy Tab as well?
Can I use a CWM 6.0.0.8 file to flash with odin? Or only the versions shown in the thread?
Should be possible to unpack the "recovery.img" from a flash file prepared to be flashed from recovery, right? For example the one in the TOOLKIT thread from nirogu325 that is inside the Toolkit package
[GUIDE & TOOLKIT][8.04.12] One-stop Guide for 7300/7310
Finally, is there a possibility to flash root file from stock ics recovery. Becaus only possibility if have in stock recovery is to choose option "apply update from external storage" and when I choose this option the phone will show me "E:unknown volume for path [/sdcard]" and I have no access to my data in /sdcard folder.
Thanks for your replys.

I answered similar question yesterday...
I would recommend to use the stock ICS file for Odin flash. If you want, you can follow that up with an Odin-flashable recovery & a root.zip flashed from recovery.
see e.g.
Odin-flashable recovery (I still prefer the slightly older 5.1.2.6 - for a more complete and logical menu than 5.5.0.4; and more reliable than 6.x)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30839339&postcount=52
for root package:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30837767&postcount=47
Edit, to answer your other questions.
- There is no Odin package for cwm 6.0.0.8, so you can't use that directly over stock ICS.
- you can not use stock ICS recovery to flash anything at all, no root.zip, no nothing. Reason is that it does not mount sdcard correctly
- all of this will work on p7300/7310 of any region
Sorry fred_be9300, I searched a lot before opended this thread. Maybe not good enough, but I just want to get sure that I do everything correct before bricking my device.
So, thanks for your answers, this helped me to be completly sure what I have to do.
I sucessfully flashed the CWM with ODIN and after that installed the root.zip from CWM Recovery.
It was easier than I thought before, verything worked fine for me. Now I´m happy with my rooted Stock ICS for the moment and hoping for some more cool custom roms!
Thanks a lot!

It works for me..
That a busybox and su binary fix.. You can use that package for implementing v6 supercharger from zeppelinrox..
Got it done.. Shameful how easy it was to do after the kies update.

Probably whatever was the first root package you tried, has messed things up. It may be preventing the other packages from installing properly.
It might work to run an unroot package to clean up; not tested that myself.
I vouch for the success of installing ICS + CWM5.1.2.6 + kk_root_ics. Try it clean, if nothing else works.

Thanks for my first "thanks!" I've been desperately trying to help people so I can shake my xda noob status and participate in the dev forums. I've been into android modding for a few years, but on a different forum that was more active for my phone. It's nice when someone says thanks!

Wow you really picked up an oldie!
I would recommend you move on to a newer ics *for p7300* though. The one you are on now, was ported in August, from the initial p7500 (tab 10.1) ics release. When used on p7300, it tends to give battery miscalibration issues after one or several charge cycles. The thread you linked is full of the complaints.

At the moment i´m just glad it works but thanks for the info! Have you got a link?
There's about half a dozen roms to choose from. I can't post links, cuz I'm a noob to xda, but the 8.9 android development forum has all the threads. Look for the most recent version of each and browse the threads to see what people thought of them.

[Q] Rooting Help

Hey I know this makes me sound like a real newbie but its not my first time rooting an android phone. I've previously owned a rooted Droid Charge and Droid Bionic. I'm currently running 4.0.4 on my Droid 4 and want to install Safestrap to then install AOPK JB 4.1.2. I'm using Mac OS X (and just installed Linux on Parallel's Desktop). Can anyone maybe guide me in the right direction for rooting and then installing Safestrap 2.11?
