Sprint HTC wont find other networks - Sprint HTC One (M7)

Ok I got my Sprint HTC one Sim Unlocked and Super CID, Rooted and Booloader unlocked.
I need to get it up on the ATT network, it reads my Net10 sim, but wont pick up any other network except the Sprint.
Do I need to flash a GSM rom to get it to work or is there another way please help.

If you want a brick, go ahead and flash a GSM ROM.
In seriousness, what have you tried? You should be able to switch the phone's network mode under Settings -> Mobile Data -> Network Mode. For AT&T, you'd probably what GSM/UTMS only. Failing that, you can try dialing *#*#4636#*#* and under Phone Info, changing the network mode there to something with GSM. No guarantee that those settings will stick across a reboot though.

Still nothing

Thanks for the reply, I know I could brick my phone so I havent tried a GSM rom. But i have tried all the settings that you stated above and nothing sems to work. My HTC does read the NET10 sim I put in but just wont pick up the network. I am thinking a few things that either the Sprint RUU I am running does not allow the phone to pick up other networks, or maybe the band frequencies are not installed only CDMA. Or maybe the option to choose GSM may be locked somehow on the phone and maybe needs to be unlocked. These are only guesses thought. I do know for sure that the phone does give me options to choose gsm, lte, cdma and more but when choosing it does not get signal only CDMA. I even tried choosing other radio band frequencies with no luck. There has to be a way.
Is it possible to flash GSM radio bands without messing anything up? Not sure thats why I am asking. Or is there a sprint ruu that includes GSM bands.
Please help if you can.

Wait, you're not sure if you're SIM-unlocked? Your phone should be capable of picking these things up by default; you could talk to Sprint cusotmer service and see if the phone's global mode has been enabled.

Yes

Yeah my phone is Sim Unlocked, Super Cid, and rooted. It does read other sims but wont pick up other networks such as GSM. This really does suck. I cant call Sprint because I got the phone off of someone who no longer has Sprint and their contract was never finished. So I Sim Unlocked it myself.

My Conclusion
I come to beleave that it is not possible to have a Sprint HTC One work on any other networks except theirs. I have tried every possbile solution that this site has to offer and nothing. It also seems to me that no one has come up with a soultion either. I have searched everywhere and no one has a strait forward answer. All that I can get it to do is recognize other sims once sim unlocked, but whats the point if you cant get it to pick up other networks such as GSM.

You have to enable domestic roaming and turn roaming guards off. Than go to network and select the network operator MANUALLY. This way it'll work, but it was stated by some users that you'll loose signal from time to time and will have to redo the process again (select network manually)

Will try thanks.

I feel that way about locking onto AT&T.. or connecting at all for that matter. But I HAVE used T-mobile for about 4 months, albeit losing the signal, and having to re-register from time to time. you can make it work. in *#*#4636#*#* go with WCDMA preferred.. 800Mhz freq.. I wasn't even s-off when I was making it work..so obviously no SuperCID either.. i have since obtained both, and STILL cannot connect to AT&T.. the Network Selections are just greyed out...

Hello, I have a Sprint HTC One running perfectly on a GSM company, called Telcel here in México. Recently I wiped everything and started again, and with the stock rom (Sense 6 4.4.2) I wasn't able to choose the GSM mode, I was stuck on CDMA mode without service, until I flashed again the latest firmware (5.09.451 or something like that), and all the problems were solved, currently I'm running ViperOne rom for the sprint variant, with the latest firmware and everything is perfect, hope this help.

First is the unlock process, to do that you first should install a 4.2 RUU, then unlock the device company. After, root and install a recovery, flash the ROM that you want, and flash the required firmware, depending of the version of android. That's all, if you want more help add me on skype, I speak spanish.
Good luck.

[Q] no 4g or lte on stock or custom rom

So I've had this phone for almost a week now and I used to he able to get 4g LTE. But ever since I rooted it, I no longer get more than 3g. I now have bananacakes Holiraider 1.6 but I still don't get any higher than 3g. So my question is how do I get 4g and 4g lte. Oh and if anyone is using that custom Rom, is it possible to get faster than 1512? In his thread it shows you can clock it to 1566. Thanks a bunch I'm kinda new to this!
try dialing *#*#4636#*#* and see what your modem is set to, it should be GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto
you also may have an APN issue, verifiy that your APN is correct, perhaps contact your carrier for the correct APN settings for you phone and plan.
Well I'm now running a custom ROM. The apn is the same as other users and it does say the above. And yes I am in a 4G LTE area
Sent from my HTC Raider X710e using XDA App
Try doing the above and change to LTE only.
Then once you have 4G change it back. It should stay on 4G. I had to do this to get 4G on official rom.
Ok I just tried that but it wouldn't let me to switch it to LTE only. When I did, it switched it back to GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto. I'm just gonna relock my phone and set it back to the original stock rom and format my phone (yes I have the apps and stuff backed up). Because my actual mobile connection fluctuates on and off as well
the phone should be locked into the GSM/WCDMA/LTE setting. If you try to change it from that setting it just returns back. The phone will get instructions from the carrier's base station to tell it whether to be on LTE or just 4G/3G. Using *#*#4636#*#* under phone information, what is listed as the Network type?

It is locked in GSM/WCDM/LTE auto.
above that option it should tell you the network type. it is about half way between the "run ping test" button and the "Set Preferred Network type" option. Need to know what it says there.
Oh ok I see what you mean, it says HSDPA
make sure that you are in a active LTE area. toggle the radio off and on. the network type should change to LTE if it is available. remember that if you make a phone call your phone will drop back to just 4g/3g and it might take a second for it to switch back to LTE.
I live in Los Angeles so I'm like in the center of the LTE center in Southern California. But for some reason my phone won't get anything higher than 3G, and my actual cellphone reception toggles on and off randomly too.
It worked before. For the first 3 days atleast. And now all of the sudden it wouldn't work, so I rooted it and installed a custom ROM
Try one of WildChilds custom ROMS. LTE works on both and they're tailored to US users.

if the problem arised before you rooted and rom'd the phone I doubt the rom is the problem. there is always the chance that you have a bad radio.

That's what I'm thinking... What would I do about this?
i would verify your sim with another 4gLTE phone and vice versa.
Hrm... So it could be a Sim card problem eh? Unfortunately there are no other LTE devices for me to get a hold of... Would this be the only way?
it could be. i hope you have pulled battery/sim and then rebooted already. you can verify your phone with a known good sim and verify your sim with a known good phone. I would try your local at&t store. they might be able to help.

Unlocked HTC One Having AT&T LTE Issues

Hey everyone I just bought an unlocked HTC One and switched the SIM card from my iPhone 5 into the new phone. I unlocked the bootloader, rooted it, and installed ARHD Sense version and I am having problems with the phone getting LTE. No matter where I am, I am unable to acquire LTE on the phone. Even in places where I know for sure that it has LTE (due to getting it previously on my iPhone) I'm stuck on HSPA+. Anyone have any ideas what the problem might be? Faulty device maybe? Would rather not have to send the phone back. I have tried also changing the APN, which changed nothing.

Do you have LTE turned on? You should be on LTE/GSM/WDCMA under Network Mode in settings. Wording may very depending on your ROM.
Yeah I have Lte enabled, which is why I'm confused as to why lte is not working.

My best guess... Consider calling AT&T and switching off the iPhone data plan to a "smartphone" data plan. I don't know the differences between the 2 but it could be effecting your ability to connect to lte from the one.

Hmm I've been considering it just I have seen other people just pop their iPhone 5 SIM into an unlocked/developer edition HTC One and have full LTE connectivity, and not to mention the fact that dealing with AT&T is a pain.

I know what ya mean... You could also try flashing at&ts latest radio... It probably only really effects AT&T based roms but it's supposed to open up some new lte bands. I used the link from post 95. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2325564&page=10 just make sure you grab the right one installing the one for cm 10 on a sense Rom will mess up your signal strength because it replaces some ril files while flashing the radio. It's a shot in the dark but wont hurt to try.

That actually used to be a really common problem, but they seem to use the same data plans for all smartphones now. Still, might be worth a try.

Thanks will try that out soon. Also, to the person above, tried flashing an AT&T radio, which didn't help anything, but was worth the shot. Thanks for the help guys.
EDIT: So tried out switching it to LTE Only and it wouldn't let the setting stick. It would automatically change the preferred network type back to what it was whenever selecting LTE Only. Also, the LTE, CDMA option did not change anything. Again thanks for the help, I'm just going to send it back and hope for the best with a new device.

LG G4 Sprint SIM / Network unlock

Has anyone been able to SIM / network unlock Sprint variant of LG G4? For international use? for domestic carriers?
The phone appears to be locked. I tried putting GSM micro SIM and putting phone in to GSM mode. Got an icon about invalid SIM in notification tray. But no prompt to unlock. Also no menu in settings to unlock via network like my note 3 had. Even worse, no menu to select GSM Network operator in the settings.

I know , that is the theory, I am curious if anybody actually tried it. I am concerned about the fact that I don't see a menu to select GSM network, which was there in Note 3
it almost looks like the phone can roam on GSM network using Sprint SIM, but all the menus that would allow presence of different SIM where removed.

Friend called Sprint and they unlocked his phone OTA. Now when non-sprint SIM is inserted it no longer complains about invalid SIM, however it will not connect to any networks in USA and still no way to see a list of networks or do a manual selection of network. That menu is still missing. I suspect the phone will now work outside of the USA in automatic network selection mode only, which may not be a good thing some times.

You must be new here. Domestic gsm has been unlocked on most modern Sprint smart phones. Just in the years I've been with Sprint ive unlocked the Moto Q, G2, S4, and now the G3 for ATT and straight talk. Ive read of several others having the same ability. The s5 can also be unlocked but only one guy knows how but you gotta pay him for it. Kinda ****ty but it actually works.

Any chances of unlocking when outside US? I got my phone from Amazon and got it shipped in my country. Tried calling them but they said they only unlock activated phones. Also tried various sites that offer unlock codes but since G4 is not asking for unlock code, they can't do anything.
Do I have any other options?

I can't confirm, since I don't have access to any AT&T SIM at the moment. If you're already rooted, you can try it out, but make sure to back up the files.
Another update: After updating the APN, my data finally worked. LTE is impossible at the moment since the this doesn't support the LTE bands here in my country
Warning: Don't try to disable auto activation for now. I got the Security Error and still on the process of fixing it.

If you want to get s-off, and your phone is 32 bit and NOT 64 bit, you can go to the website ---> The Root Ninja and download the app called Sunshine that @jcase made specifically for obtaining s-off. After you get your one time, one use license, if you need help with it you can either talk to @jcase or if he's not available you can come back here and I'll help you out. If your phone is 64 bit don't bother even trying to s-off it's not going to work with Sunshine and don't bother @jcase about it working for 64 bit because it doesn't and won't.

If you're not in USA then it doesn't matter because you're phone is most likely 64 bit since only 32 bit is sold in USA. If you're sim unlocked already there might be a way to get GSM to work so try this... Open the phones dialing pad and enter code *#*#4636#*#* and then tap Phone Information and then scroll down to "Set preferred network type" and select LTE/GSM auto (PRL) and then see if you can get it to work. But you'll most likely need your service providers APN (Access Point Name) and you'll have to set it up in the phones Settings in Network.

no, my phone is a virgin mobile (from sprint) i have tried the 4636 menu but with no luck, the phone only allows me to change to some of the options like LTE only, LTE CDMA, LTE WCDMA, CDMA EVDO GSM WCDMA LTE AUTO, GSM WCDMA LTE AUTO, GSM WCDMA, CDMA + LTE EVDO AUTO, and others and with any it doesnt wrabs signal. any of the gsm ones should do the trick but none does it.
and when i try to auto connect to network show that my simcard dont allow connection to this network and i tried 2 working sims with the same result

I've tried to tell a lot of people that there's no way to get a CDMA Virgin Mobile brand phone to work on GSM Networks, it's impossible and no one bothers to listen to me so I don't tell people to not try anymore I just try to support what they want to do. It's never going to work but you can keep trying and if you find a way to get it to work post the solution here.

ok, but how are you so sure?
the htc one m7 and the m8 from sprint can be used on gsm being cdma phones in first place, in fact i do own a htc one m8 from sprint that i succesfully unlocked and use it right now with a gsm network in my country.
also i do remember that other cdma/gsm phones like the htc pro 2 was capable to work on either network.
maybe something is still missing and we havent done all to achieve succes. ill keep try before selling the desire like this

Because Virgin Mobile purposely made it that way so that it can never be used with any other carrier but them... I know this because I have gone out of the Country a lot because I'm in the Military and when I asked VM to unlock the SIM card they said they cannot unlock it because even if they did it's never going to work with another SIM/Carrier and believe me I tried and tried while I was in Afghanistan and I eventually just gave up and bought a small stupid flip phone to use while over there instead. But like I said, you can keep trying. I'm not trying to tell you not to try because you might find a way when I couldn't.

hello,
we had a discussion about it in other thread. people tried it, soffed 510, and tried all the way. i have sprint, virgin, boost 510 sim unlocked. i am using it with other cdma carrier with evdo working. i even tried it setting to gsm, but it doesnt works. i tried adding gsm bands via dfs tool too, but still it doesnt work. igsm bands are locked in radio or radio doesnt have support for it. We need a gsm 510 radio to work on it. if someone have a knowledge uptill radio level, who can patch radio of 510 then it may work..
but @MrMike2182 is right too.. lol , but we never know... like sprint htc m9... people thought its impossible to unlock, but now you can sim unlock it ..

im begginning to suspect that the lower level devices the issue is that the hardware is acutially different. flagship phones are not made with many different variants,so the simlock and profile are controlled via software and thus able to be "unlocked"
ive gotten a sprint one max to work on gsm,but tried alot of different things trying to get a virgin mobile desire 816 to work with zero success. the fact that folks to use these phones on other cdma networks does indicate they are no longer sim locked.
cheaper phones like this the best advice is to sell it off and just get a gsm version. there are plenty out there that will work without the hassle.

Trust me I've done everything under the sun to get this sucker to work on GSM and it won't do it... When Virgin Mobile refused to SIM unlock it saying it cannot be unlocked I got pissed and S-off'ed the phone and it works with other CDMA carriers but it just won't work with GSM but I was thinking it may have something to do with the radio but I don't want to mess around with that just yet because that'll brick it for sure if I get it wrong..

true. lower end devices, dont have capabilities. i used htc one max sprint on gsm , it works on cdma with nv and also on simcard. m7 also works that way, but to make it work with other cdma sim, we have patched radio for m7, it was realased on some chinese forum, later posted by someone on xda. Htc one m8 sprint, verizon works best. works on gsm, works on cdma sim, works on nv too with other providers, you dont even need to touch radio.. i even relocked and got latest ota. still it works best with all. truly world phone..

SM920P Can't establish wireless data connection troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I bought a SM920P Note 5 (Sprint) in , I could use 3G at VietNam without any problems but when I arrive at Japan, I can't use 3G anymore, only ordinary phone calls and SMS. The phone keeps alerting this error : lte:esm - 29 emm - x unable to stablish a wireless data connection.
I have entered the APN setting of the carrier. I tried to put the SIM into another phone and it works without problems.
In the settings>more>about device>status : the networks says HSPDA. So I changed the Bearer in the APN setting to HSPDA but still no luck !
My OS now is Nougat, and I don't think the phone is rooted because I'm receiving auto updates.
Does anyone know how to troubleshoot this problem?
Forgive me if there were missing information, just ask me and I will provide, sorry I'm not very "technical" !

Thanks for the reply.
I only have 4 mode in my network mode :
- CDMA
- LTE/CDMA
- GSM/UTMS
- Automatic
If I chose CDMA or LTE/CDMA there won't be any signal at all, the working options are GSM/UTMS and Automatic which I assume is the GSM/UTMS itselft.
Any ideas ??

Did you get Sprint to unlock your phone for a different carrier before you left? Those APN settings have to be set exactly right and you must save it. Once you change your network mode it may take a bit to get signal.

No, unfortunately I bought the phone in Vietnam, are there other ways to solve this? Like rooting the device and make some system changes?

I do not know if rooting it would do you any good. I am not sure if changing the firmware would allow you to change carriers. I am not even positive that's the problem. Did it ask for some kind of code after you inserted the new SIM?
Is it a data only SIM? I think it needs to be a data only SIM being a CDMA phone.

Hi RedNeck, sorry for the late reply.
No it did not ask for any code when I inserting the SIM, the SIM is capable of Call and SMS.

No problem. I could be wrong but I am pretty sure your Sprint phone is CDMA and I am pretty sure that the only thing your phone uses your SIM card for is LTE data. So if I am correct you need a SIM that is data only. The other phone it works in, is it CDMA or GSM?

Actually I don't know anything about the CDMA or GSM things. Here is the result I got from googling the spec of the other phone :
Technology
GSM / HSPA / LTE
So, assuming you're right, can I just "disable" the calling and SMS function of the SIM, make it to become a data only SIM? I already got into a 6 month contract here, so I can't change the contract type in about 5 months !!!

You are welcome. I do not think you can do that to a SIM. The other phone sounds like a GSM phone and if the SIM works in that phone it will not work in a CDMA phone. I would go to your new carrier and ask if there is anything they can help you with. That's assuming that you are not carrier locked to Sprint. Then you have the fact that the CDMA SIM will not work in your other phone.

Thanks, but are you sure this is a CDMA Phone? Because when I change the Network Mode to CDMA or LTE/CDMA, the phone will lose all the signal?

Yes I am sure. I have seen CDMA carrier phones that were refurbished by third parties that "claim" they are unlocked for GSM carriers. I am not sure how much I trust that. You may hit up Sprint support and see if there is something they can do for you. If you bought it on contract from them they may not do anything for you.
Good luck.
