It's in kitkat accessible via adb...see https://developer.android.com/about/versions/kitkat.html under screen recording....
Here's a windows utility here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2510952
Here's someone who's tried to make an app of it using tasker here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dwak.screenrecord
...and of course, see the mother of all resources here: mother of all resources

I am a new happy owner of the Kaiser and would like to find a music program similar to the interface of the iPhone. I love the feature where you can scroll through album art and select your music. Has anyone come across a Windows Mobile program similar to the iPhone music software or is something in development?
Thank you
XDA Developers Rule!
Welcome to xda-developers Haron, well i was finding a program like this too.. but i couldnt find it.. so im trying to develop a program, but i just started, it will take me a time but when i finish it i will upload it here for free.
** IF ANYONE HAS ONE PROGRAM LIKE THIS NOW, LET ME KNOW.. **
Regards.
A_C S2P (Slide 2 Play)
Try this its not perfect but its still in development and this is the first version with the album scroll. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=377627
one of the problems with the lack of hardware video acceleration. The iphone actually has written drivers for their hardware to help them with video rendering unlike HTC that relies on software rending, you will be running head first into a bring wall attempting to make something as smooth and workable as the iphone app.

I bet S2P's album scroll screen would be abit better if the device didn't slow down when ever you touch the screen.

Thanks for the link Infuruno , I will give that program a try.
hello,
I'm searching a app that uses the front camera of the kaiser as a webcam for the kaiser itself, not for my desktop computer, my goal is to chat and webcam when I am in the car, or on holiday, just like a videocall. Is that possible??
thnx
Sorry No Hopes
When i was 2 my Sr. Brother spoiled the fun about Santa before my Mom Tried
Don't Give Up
It is a good idea
but I think there isn't any app to make the front cam as a webcam

try this
http://www.ateksoft.com/webcamplus.html
or this
yes but that ar both the options I don't mean, because it makes your phone a webcam for your desktop pc, not on the phone itself...
Try Microsoft Portrait.....
Its been around a while, but it works.
Google it.

This looks like it, but I can't get it to work with my msn messenger...
I have another question... is it possibile to broadcast my webcam over an ip-adress, because then I could watch that cam with a program like ViewCommander. That way I could set up my webcam at home, leave my computer on to broadcast and monitor everyting.

you might want to look in to this software http://www.ix-m.com/ i have been doing some beta testing for them with the use of gps (gps app here http://www.ix-m.com/LiveMediaGPS.aspx) and currently use it to stream live video while driving! works really well and supports voice and text chat.

yes there is a home app... and front camera isnt yet supported but is being worked on..
nope, don't get it to work
Anyone came across one? I'm hoping to either buy one tomorrow but if there is one for Android I'd much rather save my cash..
Thanks
i want this also, would be very handy.
We don't even have a working video camera yet, so this isn't very likely until some time much farther down the road, if ever.
im sorry to say, but there is a video camera app out there in beta stages(crappy but good) it has some errors and what not..
in order to make a web cam app you dont have to have a video camera app installed on the g1, video capturing image is already enabled on the phone, just someone has to make an app for it. to make a webcam app you would have to make your own video capturing system, or use an existing one if you code it right, some where some how some one will do it, just takes time :'(
Doesn't the vid cam app thats out now record video in motion jpeg?
Are you thinking you'd connect your phone to a PC and use it as a webcam? Surely we are not talking about using this on the phone, otherwise you'd have to turn the phone around every second to type, view the other persons video, etc...
That being said, the ADT Plugin For Eclipse adds Screenshot Capability to Eclipse... Might be some way to adapt that into a video feed? Although, this would then be more of a PC driver request than an Android app request...
use your windows mobile as a webcam
Its free and simple....
Download mymobiler: http://www.mymobiler.com
Download VH screen capture driver: http://www.hmelyoff.com/index.php?section=8
Start mymobiler and activate your mobile camera
Grab the part of the screen you want with VH screen capture
Now you have a webcam stream which you can use in any program like skype, msn etc..
Look at this video as example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wveANUBUIJM
Instead of using the microsoft remote tool use mymobiler. It is much faster.
PS: You need active sync to communicate with mymobiler

This would be the purpose I would want to use it for. Granted webcams are cheap these days so i'm not sure it is really all that practical.
Probably not but might be cool nonetheless.
The idea

I am not high or abusing your eyes. Maybe you can read between the lines and use my example as you wish.
Or is there maybe no camera option on a Android phone ?? I don't know anything about googles attempt to make something for a pda/phone.
Or is there no software available to remote control the phone. Or is it the lack of applications for Android ??? Ok you mentioned WINE...It seems you are waiting for windows emulation on Android because there is actualy more software available for Windows Mobile ???
Anyway if your are able to display your camera on a Windows screen you can capture it with the VH screencapture and use the stream for skype etc...

So, spam it is!

You people need to upgrade to one of the Builds of 1.5, so you can use Camcorder (the google cam recorder).

I agree. What a waste of time. But For one I would love to see a Webcam on my G1.

Uhm I have the 1.5H A2SD
And there is a camcorder..but you cant stream it through MSN or Skype..which is what people are wanting to do.
Hi
Would it be possible to make that? Recording with the possibility to pause and then resume instead of "stop"...
I'm not sure I see the benefit? With record and stop you can make clips that can easily be sewn together with basic video software.

but thats an extra step which would simplified immensely by the ability to pause
I don't see the benefit...
Record/Stop Record/Stop
or
Record/Pause Resume/Stop
is the same...
I get what you're saying and agree. It would be like a real camcorder. And you wouldn't have to edit later cause it would all be part of 1 clip rather than several separate ones. If you can find a way for my N1 to do this (which im perfectly sure it's capable of)it would enhance the N1 experience that much more!
+1 for need, recording tennis etc so helpful to be able to pause between fail rallys instead of making 30 vids.
I don't know how you CAN'T see the benefits... it's a GOLD feature to be able to pause and then resume... when you STOP you need to record a new clip...
Is this feature available in any android camera apps? Please let me know if it is. Sorry for bumping the old thread, been looking for such an app for a while. It is quite a failure from google not to incorporate this in android standard app - even a 10-year old nokia can do it!
I have come to the conclusion that Netflix can be run in the background when you put your phone into split screen and going to your home screen. I do not know if this is even possible and I am not a developer. But I believe that this can be implemented into an Xposed module by taking advantage of this wierd "glitch". Just an idea and again, I'm no developer, but if someone is willing to take this on, that would be so awesome.
Why you want to run Netflix in background.

I listen to comedy on netflix when doing mundane repetitive tasks at work, for example.
If you are using bluetooth headphones, you can turn off the screen or switch to another app, and when the video pauses, click play the headphones play button.
