[Q] Faulty battery?

Hi guys
I have an Optimus 2X which get really hot when charging.
After a little while it gets so hot that the phone turns itself off and wont boot until cooled down. Overheating protection i guess?
The battery cant hold power and drains in minutes.
So the battery is dead yes? Or could it be the phone?
Did you use the original usb cable with the original battery and the original charger (if you don't use a computer) ?
Moreover, you can install battery life. It indicates the temperature. Tell me what temperature it gives you in cold and hot mode.

Well if the battery is getting very hot then its most likely the battery, stop using it while its charging for starters heavy use with high cpu load combined with the heat of charging can produce alot of unwanted heat, but yeah if the battry isnt holding charge then its the battery so change it and see what happens.
try the blackbery charger first, if it's still too hot i think you should buy replacement battery
I had the same issue with mine Lg 2x with lg stock rom and froyo it was hot like hell!!! Than I switched to another ROM and the phone was OK !
Ergosum
I used the original charger and cable.
Now it won't charge at all with the original, but my HTC charger works. Still gets hot though.
Battery Life shows a temperature at 42-45' C when charging and 35-37 at standby.
But I've looked a little closer and actually where the phone gets hot the most is on the phone itself right above where the battery connects to the phone?
Eraldo
I don't use the phone at all when charging.
Antec123
As said above I've tried using another charger. Same result.

Which ROM did you have and which one did you switch to?

It has gone from fully charged to 30% in 3 hours. In standby. Haven't used it at all

Try a different ROM or kill the battery-stats with "Battery Calibrator" from the market.
I recommend you the [ROM] 20110921- lg o2x gb stock mod by topogigi v1.6 - Bug defeated!
In v1.7 will be added a new cpu power management to improve battery life. May give it a try...

Phone heats up easily?!

Hi, my HTC Incredible S heats up easily when i am just surfing the web or playing games. Sometimes my phone heats up till 40 degree celcius that i can't touch the phone So could it be a battery problem?
40 degrees and u cnt touch the phone? u must be made of butter lol
i had my phone up to 43 degrees before
so it is normal for phone to be so hot?

it's not normal for it to be hot all the time, if it heats up when browsing or playing games then it's normal
I too see this overheating thing while using Maps on Miui and HTC Locations on Sense. The phone reaches u pto 41 degrees Celsius. By the way, can anyone tell me what is the safe range for an IncS for a high temperature.
Also, I have heard that the touch screen might become faulty due to high phone temperatures. The reason given for this is that the digitizer is glued in HTC phones and at high temperatures the glue softens leading the digitizer displacement and static discharge. Can anyone confirm this theory?
That theory may be true but for phones made of higher quality components like HTC and Nokia ... It's not.... I experience heating while using sygic.... But not any other time... Also heating is aggravated by surrounding room temp... If its already hot then phones heat up easily...don't worry just try to keep your phone cool or give it in the service center for inspection...

Are you overclocking too high?

Maybe a little off topic but my HTC Desire ran very HOT! when browsing the web and stuff.... I was very surprised when I got my Incredible S ... it gets a little warm but nothing that can compare to the Desire... I had my Desire for abour 1 and a half year, sold it about a month ago when I bought my Incredible S and it was still just as new, never had any problems with it so I don't think you need to worry about the heat...
i think u over clock CPU to high.try another kernel or change your Rom...
be careful may it damage your battery or phone hardware..
if heats again turn off phone and remove battery for 5 min..
Nope i did not overclock my CPU at all

[Q] My Galaxy Note is not storing charge??

hello there,
everything was fine just 3hrs before.
I plugged my fone on charging....i dont know why it suddenly started to heat,i havent seen such behaviour in past 2 months.
the fone is on charging,it shows that the fone is charging but the battery % remains the same as it was before..like
i place it on charging with 20% battery remaining, after 2 hrs charging it show the battery is still 20%.
i am using darky rom note with FM kernel....can any body tell me what should i do...whether the problem is in the software or in the hardware....
plz.
Can you take a look at the battery? It should be perfectly flat. Sometimes when batteries go bad they bulge. And how hot does it get. If the battery is hot to the touch my guess would be a bad battery pack.
battery is absolutely fine....using it for allmost 2 months.....battery heats up but the portion of camera & around that is seriously hot,not warm....hot.
You using the mains charger? Mine has packed up after a month, it wasnt charging properly but via usb it was and with my old hd2 charger it is charging fine

I think that is the CPU. The CPU is up there, and (we know) the battery is lower down. I find when I play games etc, the top part gets warm.
It sounds like you may have a rogue process. First off I would recommend a reboot, and then perhaps an uninstall of recently installed apps if that does not fix it.
i have also noticed that the latest version of flash is killing my battery, if you have updated flash try removing the update and then reboot and monitor the situation

as for the part arnd camera it heats up coz the cpu is located there..this happens with me when i play games for hours..so if its heating during gameplay then i guess its normal

[Q] Battery Overheating

Hi all, I get the phone last saturday, and now with all the apps, I feel that the phone was overheating, then I install Battery Monitor Widget and saw that my battery never was never under 35ºC, and only with Wi-Fi on and browser, I get to 38ºC, when charging was about 42ºC so I was worried if my new phone was defective.
So I want to know if this is normal because of the two cores, or I should go to service center.
Thanks
My phone is about 40°C when it is charging, and about 35°C when I use it without charging. So I don't think it's a problem.

whats so weird? it shows that while you use the phone, it drains battery. and when you dont use it, the battery doesnt really drain.
