I've seen it mentioned that people on MI1 haven't been able to get the update to show up. I would reroot with the MI9 and that would also replace your AT&T update app. Make sure you use the survival mode in SuperSU to keep root after the update.

Yes m1 will not take update! I had to flash m9 last night and immediately received the ota!

If you plan on upgrading anyways, go ahead and use the one click odin from the mi9 dlv thread. That will put you bone stock mi9 and you will recieve the mj5 ota with no issues

[Q] When will the new root tool be released?

I got a new AT&T Note 3 and applied the Root De La Vega. Everything was working great until I accidentally installed AT&T's OTA update from the "Software update" menu. Now my Note 3 has Baseband version BMJ5 and the root has been invalidated. I know that the Kingo tool can bring root back, but it won't worth the potential security risk.
So I guess I have to wait for the next root tool being released?
And anyone has a rough idea on when that could happen?

Read bruh. There's a thread on how to restore back to MI9.
You can also root with Kingo.

The security risk with Kingo is just Hype because nobody can explain how they get paid for the app. I used Kingo and it works fine and my personal information is still safe. As long as you don't have financial date STORED on your phone which would be careless in today's skimming world there is no real information they can get that Facebook or other social media does not already have...

AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has received its first root from DesignGears and Chainfire

Hi,
AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has received its first root from DesignGears and Chainfire, but it will come with a cost as you will be forced to wipe all data in the process. Also, after applying the ‘Root de la Vega’ method you will also need to stay on the same firmware, any stock OTA Updates applied will remove root and you might not be able to apply root ever again for your Note 3

People have reported success with SuperSU's survival mode starting from RDLV.
Of course, there's also always kingo, which works on latest firmware.

If you have rooted 24A with a stock recovery, you can take the OTA and retain root..
Ok so I figured I'd ask here instead of making a new thread since it's sort of relevant. Hope not to thread jack. I have a vs980 rooted on 24a with stock rom and twrp. My phone tried to update to 25b yesterday and I canceled it by switching from WiFi to 4g. 2 questions I have are can I take the update and stay the same or not yet since I have twrp? And 2 it started downloading automatically, if I can't take the update is there a way to keep it from downloading again? Thanks in advance.

1) It won't install without the factory recovery.
2) You have to remove/disable/freeze the updater app to stop it from prompting you. (I don't remember the exact name of it)
So there really isn't any harm in letting it download since it won't install without factory recovery? I'll check the apps I have frozen again I thought I froze it, but maybe not. Thanks. Do you know if it's simply called system updates?
Software Update is the app name people are freezing using Titanium, don't know what the .apk is, I have a debloated rom currently. You should be able to find and rename the .apk for Software Update to stop it.
I've been using ultimate backup lite and I have a system update app I could freeze just wanted to make sure it was the right one. Tried to post a picture, but I don't have enough seniority.
is ioroot still the best rooting tool?
Also when I take 25 will I have to reinstall twrp?

Did you do this personally? I have stock rooted 24A now. I am using xposed and other root apps. Will the OTA effect any of that?

[Q] How do you take an OTA after Root?

Ok so many of us have successfully rooted our devices and frozen update and renamed security files to avoid losing our root.
What are the proper steps for Dummies like me to accept the Lollipop OTA in December without losing my data?
Also now 4.4.4 is anounced with Bluetooth fixes that I have noticed while streaming
(My gut tells me keep update frozen until a flashable rooted 5.0.)
It was said in another thread NOT to take the 5.0 update until a root method for it has been established. If you wanna keep root, I'd wait. I'm still running stock rooted AND3 firmware/kernel. I'm looking to get the newest update up to today (I think ANG3 or something of that nature.) I'm just not taking updates yet so I can keep my root. I'm having problems with the phone freezing and restarting though so I'd like an update.

I am stock rooted with ANG3 pre-installed on my purchased S5. It runs smooth as silk if you use the method posted by muniz_ri in general. All I've done is turned off or frozen some bloatware and installed Chainfire SU 2.16.
My question was more geared towards the person who might want to go from rooted to the lastest OTA without losing data etc. I have been diving in pretty deep to the AT&T side of XDA since leaving sprint a week ago and I think the answer might have been posted by shortydoggg with the soft-bricked thread.
I was hoping someone might be able to tell me a non odin 3.09+ way to remove the freeze on my apps in the correct order to take the OTA without tripping KNOX if I wanted to do that knowing I might loose root.
I thought we might be able to follow muniz_ri and odin the one file back towelroot again after.
Basically I like stock always have, but I want root also for AdAway Titanium Backup Etc. and being a truck driver I wanted the 4.4.4 Bluetooth fix for Iheart radio.

It's hard to say what the best approach will be until the update arrives. In the case of 4.4.4, I'm rather confident that a somewhat simple method can be developed to take the update while keeping root. As for 5.0, I have some ideas none ideal but we'll see.
Is Android 4.4.4 for the AT&T version of the Galaxy S5 out? I have a Galaxy S5 AT&T phone but I don't have AT&T service. I am running Android 4.4.2 with build version ND3 is there something newer than this?
Updating to NG3
Het guys, so today I got ahold of Odin 3.09 and the NG3 update, I applied it through Odin in the AP slot and it DID NOT update my phone to NG3. My Baseband still says AND3 and kernel is 3.4.0-2178781
Tue Jul 22 13:58:46 KST 2014. Anybody have any options i can use without having to downgrade to NCE just to upgrade? LOL...Im kinda at a loss,Ive tried it in download mode twice now and no fu go.
Plz disregard my message. I'm good now and running rooted NG3.

[Q] what is going to happen

I have a rooted s5, stock ROM just rooted to over clock and change emojis, neither of which were worth it. I have the ota alert for lolipop, I want to update, loosing root is fine. I searched about the results of doing ota I got mixed results. Will I brick if I update? Will I loose everything? If there is a thread or post about this and I'm that oblivious, please link it. All help is appreciated

What is your software now?
You can try full unroot in super user app then ADB side load OTA updates.

Carrier Updates

Hello everyone. I did the root on my Galaxy S6 edge, and everything's been working great. The only thing I really use it for right now is so that I can run my app radio unchained reloaded app. Otherwise I haven't changed anything. Recently I've been getting carrier updates coming in that I have not been able to accept. They continue to fail. Is there a way I can update my phone yet still keep root? Or is there something else going on?

You can Odin back to stock (oc3), take update, then root using latest ping pong root. Or, flash a custom oe2 rom using flashfire, then use Odin to update firmware to OE2, such as is explained here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=61198002. Or use smart switch to update, which will remove root.
