[Q] How to install android 4.4 on our xperia z - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I really want to flash android 4.4 on my z but i don't have a clue. Any detail solutions?

Official 4.4 is not relesaed. You only can flash a custom rom bur not more..
Gesendet von meinem C6603 mit Tapatalk

I mean the aosp one but I don't know how to use adb to flash the rom

Have you backed up your TA partition and unlocked you bootloader?
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app

either read the stickies and learn or if you don't know what you are doing then why risk bricking the device?
i'd suggest reading up on adb commands and unlocking boot loaders etc before anything if you still don't know what are you doing then leave the device as it is

Easiest way to Root Xperia Z any firmware

Got my hands over Xperia Z
was going through all the forums to root my device
doomlord 's way failed because the firmware i have is newer than what is been tested by Doomlord.
than i tried what i always do
ok I'm repeating myself this time on Xperia forum.
1) unlock bootloaders from sony's own site
2) flash Doomlords kernel for stock firmware which is with recovery
3) get into recovery and flash the zip attached
now you have super user and can install all that stuff needs root.
have a nice day!
And now you also have
1.Invalidate warranty
2.Bravia Engine 2 will not work anymore
3.Download music info, trackid... may also not work..
Doomlords way is fully working on locked bootloader you just need to downgeade kernel. If you have newer fw

1. Music Info works
2.And yes you're right dooms method works like a charm , no need to unlock bl just for rooting
@general: well it's obviously that you can root you device this way, because your bl unlocked. If you don't plan to use a custom kernel /rom you better root using doom's method.

in germany it's like that: if you buy a new product, the law enforces the manufacturer/dealer to give a 2-year-warranty on the product. this 2-year-warranty can't be reduced or limited (normally).
the manufacturer/dealer might give an optional warranty for another X years, but that's up to him.
so sony might say that their additional, optional, voluntary warranty might get lost when unlocking the bootloader, but they cannot reject the warranty enforced by law. to do so, they will have to prove that unlocking the bootloader is definitely the cause for the devices' fault.
let's say the power button isn't working anymore, and the device is 1 year old, then sony can't reject only because of an unlocked bootloader. it will be very hard for them to plausible prove that unlocking the bootloader damaged the power button. if the device is, let's say, 3 years old, then they can reject.
at least in germany this is the case, and i guess in many other countries as well. in germany they distinguish between "gewährleistung" (warranty by law) and "garantie" (optional, voluntary warranty given by manuf./dealer).
(unfortunately, i don't know the proper english translation for the german words, and my translation app shows "warranty" in both cases.)
I read on these forums that even requesting B/L unlock code from Sony is sufficient grounds to deny warranty - whether you unlock or not

Easiest root ever is with program called KINGO ANDROID ROOT its only one click root. No need for kernel downgrada, i use it on official .67 firmware and it works like charm. I saw it somewhere on xda and download it its imba.

Hi !
Unfortunately is not entirely true !!! Please update your correct title : " Easiest way to Root Xperia Z any firmware ( only for unlocked bootloader ! )"
Thanks !

do I need to re-unlock my device after returning to stock via flashtool?

I meant following the unlock instructions from the Sony website.
I want to reinstall cyanogenmod/aokp and use CWM that cm came with this time!
Thanks!

I did the ta backup.
I just want to know if I need to reunlock the device if I wanna install a AOSP-based custom ROM like CM/AOKP.
If you want to try a non-stock based ROM, you must have the bootloader unlocked.
Otherwise your phone won't boot. It's self-explanatory in the ROM's thread

Downgrade to 4.2.2

Hi guys
I updated my Xperia Z C6603 to JellyBeam 4.3 via OTA aaaaaaaand I lost my root. So now I want to have root again, and as you told me I have to go back to 4.2.2, then root again and update to 4.3 with flashtool.
So, could anybody help me with that? What exactly I have to do?

Don't forget to also download the drivers which you can do easily with windows. Go to C:/FlashTool/drivers and click the icon. Otherwise you won't be able to enter flash mode if you haven't put the drivers in the folders too. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45464122&postcount=3

Can you unlock your bootloader? If so, then you could easily root. If you can i suggest you to unlock it.
If not, you must downgrade and get a pre-rooted firmware.

Bravia engine just oversaturates colors and make them look like amoled. No offense but if this is the only reason you should unlock.
Also bravia enginr still works for videos.

No you don't need to downgrade.
Only if you own a z1 you have to upgrade to 4.3 or your cam focus will be broken.

Dont forget to backup ta partition. Unlocking bootloader will void your warranty and wipe all data in phone.
You can restore ta partition to return back factory state with drm certificates.
to backup ta partition you have to be rooted.
if your phone is not rooted yet, only way is downgrade to 4.2.2, which can be rooted.

[Q] CM on locked bootloader opportunity?

Do you think there is a new possibility to put CM on Xperia Z with a locked bootloader now ever since it was successful with Xperia S?
It would be awesome, hate looking at ROMS and realizing I can't use it :/
If a dev made this possible I would be willing to donate in the future

We can't do more than wait. I hope also that the devs will do it for us. The dev support and the experience intrest is here for the Z.
Thanks for the article.

We need the init.ramfs script, in which everything is loaded, and thats present on the 4.3 firmware.
