Hello all.
I saw for another phone that it's possible to have OTG AND charging the phone (here)
I test with some resistor to build my own OTG charging cable, but it don't work.
Is someone have already bought this kind of product and in this case, could you give me the link to buy one please ?
Bye
I'm bumping this thread cause i really want to know if someone has tried it in their g2.

I have been trying to make one as well. I posted about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49280093&postcount=60 bc there was a similar discussion. What have you tried and did you try without a resistor?
For me it doesn't charge. :'(
I have a d802 with LRS G-Flex v1.1.0 rom.
It charges and only charges... when connecting ID/sense pin with GND using 100k resistor....
When shorting ID/Sense with GND it works as usb OTG when connecting sth to it.... but charging does not work...
I think it will require kernel mod to allow OTG + charging simultaneously and maybe sth more.....
Bumping this thread too to know if anyone managed to make this work ?

I would love host cable with 2 usb inputs but cant seem to find it and dont know if its even possible.
Any help would be appreciated.
I found this on the bay : item # 140839631580 (Can't post link I'm too new... I was a lurker for a while -_-)
i didn't think the N7 could support power and OTG
You want it for video or audio? You could try a wifi solution for audio. Or be the guy that gets the pins to work.
there is NO data and charge at the same time. This is due to how the device switches from charge to usb mode thru the pin 4 . it senses rather a data cable or charge cable is being used . will not charge via otg..
there are several threads with experiments trying to get this work .You could use a wifi or bluethooth drive for data...
I have no clue what im doing but this is what im playing with at the moment. Its a old dock for sgs2 i believe but it has a dc and usb input on the back of it.
Im about to this because i have very little patience for china.

Would get the cheaper one but the juiced one has a flexible cable vs the fixed usb on the other one. Would this be pointless though?
Unfortunately OTG sends ground up the sense pin to trigger host mode. Once activated it sends 5V DOWN the USB cable to power your USB devices. Trying to send voltage up the cable at the same time to the Nexus would not be a good idea. The only way around it I can think of would be to hack the firmware to only activate the data pins in host mode and keep the power circuit seperate, then you could power the USB device from a modified dock/hub which sends power up the USB cable to the device.
A lot of work, and without the powered hub, OTG would be useless!
In the long run wouldn't it be easier to just plug in the power lead when needed and have the otg in the rest of the time? (or vice versa). It would mean you having to have easy access to the usb port but I can't see an easy non technical solution to connecting both at once.
Don't use the Nexus 7 for a car install. You can get an Acer Iconia A100 with a full-size USB port to connect to whatever external storage solution you want, and it's usually about the same price or cheaper than the Nexus 7.

Would it be possible to charge while using an OTG Cable for Keyboard/Mouse or does the same principle apply as inn data via OTG & charge?

Same principle. In normal OTG host mode the tablet powers the peripherals. A USB keyboard/mouse will be no exception to that.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but was wondering if you ever ended up getting that Juiced systems adapter and if it worked well with the N7. Been looking at it but haven't found any success stories on XDA with the N7, just the few Amazon reviews...
That cable would work but u need specific kernel tweaks for otg + charge to work. Pm me if anyone needs it.

I am interested in this kernel patch quite a bit. I have a galaxy note 2 (sprint version). What are the odds someone has figured out how to get power and otg working on the note 2?

Ofcourse there is charge and otg at the same time by just simply shorting pins 4 and 5 with a resistor,in my case for xperia p , a 100k resistor does it.
Timurs USB ROM from another site is what you want. Has links and everything you need.
I was going to do a car install as well but after sourceing parts and work estimates ( I want clean install, like stock) just more hassle than its worth for me. Please post pics if you get an install going.

Hey guys,
I was looking at the Samsung smart dock :
( can't insert link as I am a new Member)
And was wondering if it would work on the Xperia z1?
I know that the z1 supports MHL and OTG so I'm guessing it could work..
Also, I realise that the actual phone won't fit onto the dock properly but I really want hdmi out with at least 2 usb inputs, so I'm fine with using a micro usb male to female cable to run from the phone onto the dock.
This is my first post so let me know if I'm doing something wrong
Thanks in advance

It's a hardware issue actually, Samsung uses special usb connectors which can active both mhl and usb at the same time, not sure Sony does too...

I use something like this and it works fine to have HDMI out, but never tried using the USB in at the same time.
You can use the usb as storage or only for charging while using hdmi?

I heard that the USB input on that could only be used for power and nothing else.. :/
I think that's correct, as the HDMI output does not work unless there is AC power going to the Micro USB in.

Theres a cheaper version of the dock on ebay for $11 which has HDMI and USB (both full size) ports. I might buy it and try that one first.
A stupid question, how can I use the MHL cable and charge the Z1 in the same time? It is possible?

Anyone got a charging dock? or recommend one please OP3 on its way and like to have it stood up next to the bed like!
I would also like any suggestions for a cradle/dock. There are plenty of USB C cradles listed on Amazon and other sites, but they don't seem to support the Oneplus charging system.
Anyone know of a cradle/dock that would allow me to use the USB C cable that came with the OnePlus 3?
well if it's a usb dock overnight charging should be ok regardless of dash or not? I'm thinking if there isn't one soon I'll make one or something using a dash cable.
This one I am looking:
https://www.amazon.es/Type-C-soport...68248445&sr=8-14&keywords=base+de+carga+usb+c
It is Benson-tested (Benson is the Google Engineer that started all the thread about USB Type-C compliancy). It will NOT fast-charge or Dash-Charge your phone, but it will also not make a fire out of your phone. worth a try, I think I will order it soon.

its the same im using. a bit tricky to plug the phone in without looking closely, but it works
Hello everyone,
I'm looking for good USB Type-C compliant OTG cables. I'm stumbled upon cables that provides nice feature of keeping the phone charged while utilizing the OTG port.
Take a look at this :
http://www.banggood.com/BASEUS-USB-C-Type-C-to-USB-3_0-HUB-Adapter-Charging-Date-Sync-For-New-Macbook-Chromebook-LETV-Phone-p-1030330.html?p=QZ14021624945201505Y
or this Y cable
https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-Macbook-Chromebook-Surface-Supportted/dp/B01AJMDQDG/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1471884770&sr=1-1&keywords=type-c+power+y+otg+cable
Do you think these are compatible with OnePlus 3 ? or would they damage the phone if used ?
Funny you should mention. I have the Amazon one arriving tomorrow (going to attempt it with a display link adapter now that they are compatible). Either way I'll update either tomorrow eve or Wednesday and let you know!
I'm currently testing nougat on my 5x and will try on both devices.

And the jury is in. On both my one plus 3 and 5x you can not charge and use anything at the same time. The y cable will only supply power to whatever device you have plugged in.

hey all
i have a problem with my usb port
alot of time its no charging too and the cable look too loose in the usb port
first i thought its my cable so i ordered different cables to test it out ( 3* all quick charge cables )
all cables are charging min 500 max 860 mah
with that conclusion i think my usb port is broke so i ordered a new usb port
questions is do you really need a heatgun to change the connector ?
sorry for my broken english

depend on usb port
but i suggest heatgun is better
cause broken stip leads to change motherboard
Easiest fix is a Qi charger.

Hello,
Check this video, might help you:
I would take the motherboard and bring it to an electronic shop and get it replaced by a professional... :good:
Good luck...
Thanks all
I looked the video and I know I can't do it :--)
Too afraid to burn the other things on motherboard
I will ask some shops if they can do it
Thanks again
