I'm getting my Glass soon and I was wondering how does it connect to internet, I know it's via bluetooth, but do I need to have a tethering data plan?

It uses Wi-Fi and doesn't require a phone for data. If you want to share your phone's data plan, you can do so via bluetooth, and it does not require a separate data-plan or a tethering plan.
It works off your phone via bluetooth. If you are not in a wifi area then it will tether off your phone for data when needed. I recommend like any device that if you are in a wifi area to hop on the network to prevent data increase on your mobile device.

It might depend on your wireless carrier. I'm on verizon and at every bluetooth connection notification it pops a message about requiring a tether plan, click here to subscribe.
I have such a love / hate relationship with VZW.

I am trying to figure out how to make "wireless tethering" between 2 Android phones work. Is it possible? I can't find any info on it.
I have a Captivate with an Unlimited Dataplan and a Captivate without a Dataplan. The one WITHOUT the Dataplan is on AT&T's $50 Unlimited Talk, Text & Web Plan (Prepaid). The Talk and Text work just fine but the internet does not unless I pay for a separate package. I was wanting to use my Rooted Captivated with the Unlimited Dataplan to broadcast my internet over to the other phone when nearby. We don't have Wifi at home. I use the Wireless Tether apk all the time for a laptop, but for some reason the other phone can't see the signal. Any help would be appreciated!
Put a rom that includes mobile ap on the phone with the unlimited data plan, create a hot spot with it, and connect the other phone to it with wifi.
I haven't done any Custom Rom Flashing yet. I was just wondering if it is possible to do it with an App like Wireless Tether apk.
There are instructions on how go fix this around it involves removing tge wirelesstether apk i did it on my stock rom and works great

I use the Bluetooth through PDA along with the network spoof I always choose spoof WiFi and just to see if it would use my WiFi from the phone I turned off all mobile data on my phone and it used the WiFi instead of my mobile data and to me seems to be pretty much faster than using the mobile data ....

So what your saying is, your using BT PAN linking your watch to your phone but you want to use WIFI instead of your cellular data for BT PAN? That works but only with certain BT PAN apps. If I understand your question correct.

Tethered via Bluetooth, using phones wifi instead of data. Works fine with international roms, but with some carrier branded ROMs, if tethering is enabled, wifi is disabled
Gear itself has no wifi, but apps can be tricked into thinking Bluetooth tether is actually a wifi connection via the network spoofer (closed framework module)

So we established there are no apps that will share the wifi internet via bluetooth and that the switching off of wifi during tethering is an automated function. So is there a way to prevent that auto-switch from occurring?
At any rate, if you have the galaxy note 3, and you have a USB 3.0 computer, just tether the internet from USB. Great for when at home, but the downside of this is: if you want to reverse tether from wifi in an airport or coffee shop, then a laptop is required. And at that point, what would you be doing on the watch, that isn't easier on either your phone or laptop, now that you're forced to already have those items out?
Therefore, it would be nice to tether wifi to bluetooth so I can just leave my phone in my pocket and not be forced to use mobile data when I don't want to.

Depends on rom. Most (if not all) international roms can use phone's wifi with Bluetooth tether
Spoofer Module?

This "Closed Framework Module" your refer to, what is it's actual Module Name (I can't seem to find it among the many avaialbel Xposed modules).
Anyone able to tether with a VZW MX2? Foxfi?
Sure. Easy using built in tethering.
I assume this means you have paid tethering? I am on unlimited, can I add tethering without losing unlimited?

Yes, I'm on a family share plan. While you can set up a plan to pay for tethering, I'm a firm believer that you shouldn't have to. Do a littleore research on foxfi and some of the other tethering apps.
I don't necessarily want to pay, just want to be able to do it and keep unlimited. I don't have my phone yet (est Oct 27) so curious if anyone has been able to get tethering to work with foxfi or similar.

From what Verizon has told me.yes you can, and you will have unlimited tether.
I have unlimited data and no tether plan, just tried to setup the mobile hotspot with no dice says I have to pay 30/mo for tethering. Been using EasyTether which works - I hate having to install separate apps on both the phone and pc to do this, but it works which beats the alternative.

Thanks for checking, did you try both FoxFi and built in? Are there any other hotspot apps that might work?
I am really hoping to tether my tablet from my phone, so the EasyTether won't really work for me. I also use my phone to tether my chromecast and tablet together...so bluetooth isn't the best option for that either.
I presume once root is achieved it will be possible, so I will have patience just hoped it would be an easy fix
If possible, I am curious about the same thing. Can someone install FoxFi and see if it will work with Moto X?

Damn, I was afraid of that. Wifi tethering is essential for me. Thanks for letting me know.
With respect to wifi tethering (via Foxfi or other), someone suggested the need to encrypt the phone, which then (somehow) permits wifi tethering to work. Before I spend the time doing so, I wanted to see if anyone has heard this as well and/or attempted it?

What they mean encrypt the phone is by putting a password lock on the phone. Even if you do it, it still gives you the error message seen above, "WiFi tethering blocked by carrier"

Yes, encrypt the data/storage on the phone by going under Settings->Security->Encrypt phone.

My dad just got this new phone, and was wondering, is there a way to use this phone's internet to use waze on his old moto x? because the old one fits perfectly in the car dashboard and the new one is too big.
You could use Bluetooth or Wifi internet tethering, assuming your call plan allows tethering, to share the internet connection with the old phone, and just use the old phone as a glorified satnav.

What provider does he have? He can add a tablet to his account and use the new sim card. Data should work, calls won't. I'm on AT&T and my tablet line is only $10/mo.

Think you misunderstood the poster, who means that you tether both phones via WiFi hotspot to use the data connection of the new moto x on the old one.
Is there any app or "fix" to enable wifi tethering on a G870A running 5.1.1 using Straight Talk? Tried FoxF, PdaNet+ and a host of playstore junk. Nothing.
I don't think if there is a native wifi tethering fix anymore. However USB tethering seems to work (tested on G900A). Have you tried ClockworkMod Tether? You will need to install the a client on the PC as well as the APK on the phone.
Can't use the USB tethering for the application I need it for.

What application is it? EasyTether can handle some complex setups.
I need Wi-Fi for the car radio. No USB option there.
Assuming the phone is not rooted, you might be out of luck at the moment. I'm guessing that you want to share your unlimited data plan. Have you looked at how much data you have used in the past few months? Just wondering if a different service provider might be a better choice in your case.
Really don't use that much data even though its unlimited. I have an aftermarket radio that I would like to use the phone's data. Works great with my "retired S4" but have since started using the S5.

You may want to consider looking into ProjectFi and getting a Nexus phone for the service, that is my plan for my next phone which includes tethering by design. When I did the math, it turned out that my bill will go down and the savings would pay for the Nexus phone. $20 for the line + a penny for each megabyte.
