Just an inquiry. I just got my sony xperia z1 last week and may I ask if its okay to charge it even if it's still 30% . And if it is okay to remove it from being charged when it is not yet 100% charged.
i read on some articles that the battery of my xperia should not be 100% charged because it can hasten the aging process of my bat.
any suggestions ? thanks! I just love Xperia so much. It's so awesome! :good:

yes. charge it to full, plug it in whenever you want, etc.
how long should it take to fully charge the phone ftom let's say 20 to 100%?
I have the impression it is taking too long for me as it went from 20 to 50% in 3 hours
Is there an app I can use to check?

That is so long. Are you using the charger that comes with it or an old charger?
mine takes ~2.5 hours to fully charge from 15%. But when I use my old X10 charger, it takes twice the time.
in case youre not using the phone during the charge:
(this calculation will not be perfect but good enought)
20% left means, that 2400mah of your 3000 are used.
your default sony charger has an max. output of 1,5A.
that means you can charge 1500 mah /hour
that means you need 8/6 hours to charge from 20% to 100%

wot?
the phone is supposed to fully charge in 3 hours...
I guess my estimates would be like 2hours tops to get me full charged. From 4%
Just charge it when you go to bed if less than 30% if more than that, Charge it it morning If above 50% should last a working day on stamina mode then charge it fully when you get in, I get about a day and a half which sometimes makes it awkward, unless you can charge it at work?:fingers-crossed:

I really don't understand this z1.mine took 6hours to charge today turned off at 1%.first time charge took more than 3hours.and once it took 3hours to charge 40 then another 2hours or so.but I searched the Web and people have said 3hrs to 4hrs max.and under 3hrs if phone turned off. Is there something wrong with tye Xperia z1?

As topics says and like your battery is under %20 percent approximately how long does it take to get it fully charged
About 1.5 - 2 hours
Mine seems about the same, however if your using the phone wile charging it takes a lot longer, which is strange because there should be enough current to charge and use simultaneously.
1 hour 45 minutes from 25%, also I have juice plotter installed and theres a widget that you can put on your homescreen that changes from time left to how much time it takes to charge when it is actually charging which is kind of neat.

You guys could try a 2 amps charger (such as the one that comes with the ipad), theres some evidence it will charge faster, although not by much.

30 seconds.
(battery swap )
But seriously, about 3 hours from empty to full on the charger that came with it, and about 2 hours with my 2amp galaxy tab charger.

True when I charge my GS2 with my Galaxy tab charger its dramatically faster.
._. there must be something wrong with my gnote then ... it takes around 4h30m to fully charge from around 10%... and even longer if using phone at same time...
I had several smartphones and this one is the one with the worst battery ever ... my dell streak's battery charges faster and even tho it also has a 5" screen, its 1500mAh battery lasts longer with the same usage.
Yesterday my gnote battery took 3h30m to go from 100% to 13% just from playing 2h30m of games and 1h browsing... innaceptable! and I do use betterbatterystats and I have few wakelocks that could be draining battery...
This phone charging scheme is really crappy, as I understand from my use, while charging instead of the charger powering both the phone and the battery at same time, I think it only charges the battery and the phone is always powered by the battery alone...
I din read about it yet, but I almost sure the gnote works like that, cause if i use Skype video call for example, i only get a 1% charge increase around every 10mins, which is really ridiculous ...
plus, while with my other smartphones I could take out the battery while charging it and the phones would keep powered, same thing doesn't happen with the note... battery off while charging, phone also off, which can only mean IMO that the phone is 100% only powered by the battery even when charging...
Besides making it take longer to charge, won't the battery life also decrease that way?..
.
Hi,
How long does it usually take u guys to recharge ur note from dead or almost?
It took mine. Over 8 hours to charge from 12%.
Also if keep my note on charge but im usimg it for browsing or whatever, my note still dischares.
Is this normal for the note as my htc Desire didnt diacharge while using it while connected to the charger.
Thanks
Neil

Hmmm I've never really timed it but its gotta be around 4hrs for a full charge.
I have been playing Stardom even when charging and it gains battery.
That doesn't sound normal at all.
If u r charging from USB port den its possible. Charging from ac will be a different story
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA
Charging by USB is at around 12% per hour, so it does take 8 hours.
Charging by a/c is upwards of 35%/hr.
Some of the apps usage would demand battery usage at 20-25% per hour, so if your battery usage is more than your charging rate then you would be losing battery which is what might have happened when you are using USB charging etc.
If your stats are for a/c charging, then I suspect the charger.
Yeah i charged for 8 hours with ac and also got discharge while using the note and charging.

Depends on what you are using for, but it still doesn't sound right.
Mine charges from 5% to full in about 3 hours when it's just sitting
on the table and I'm just using it for a phone call every now and then.
charging shouldn't take more than 4 hours when done from an AC outlet. just check if you have original batteries and charger. if not, take it to the shop and get it replaced immediately. 8 hours is just too much.

When you are using it heavily while charging it might be normal,
try leaving it alone while charging for one cycle, that'll give you
an indication.
If it's still substantially higher than 3 to 4 hours under these circumstances
you've got a problem, either battery or charger have an issue, or there's an
app sucking battery like hell.
as said, 3-4 hours is normal. Do you have a battery drain issue when in normal use? if yes, then u can use betterbatterystats to check which process is using the juice.
Also, its advisable (in the first cycle after flashing a rom) to charge the phone with switched off. After full charge, take out the battery, wait for 1 min , reinsert & restart. This will help to reset the battery & start afresh.
From 8% to 100% with the charger it took me less than 3 hours.
I only charge by USB on my PC and its never taken close to 8 hrs for a full charge..
The only time charging has taken a very long time for me is when I ran a ICS ROM.
So i did a charge with my usb cable and it tool half the time. Maybw theres a problemwith my ac charger.

I've had my One for a few days and have noticed that it charges very slowly. 3-4 hours at least, longer if it's being used.
I charge it overnight while it's off so it hasn't been much of a problem for me.

I've noticed some very slow charging speeds, I put it on charge at midnight and at 6am it was at 84%!!. I was using an older HTC charger and not the one that came with the phone so it could be that but I doubt there's any different in output between them.
I've recently installed a battery app that tracks my usage and predicts when the battery will die. I took it off charge at 5:30pm tonight and it things it will flatten out at 6am tomorrow!.. that's only 12 hours on a full charge!.. I hope it's wrong but I'm already 10% down.. maybe it's no better than the HTC One X but I thought it was supposed to be better with a 2300mah battery
on mine from 5% to 96%is about hour half then hour half for the last 4%

I just got my HTC One a couple of days ago and noticed it was taking forever to charge. So today I timed it. I put it on charge 3 hours ago and it's gone up 30%. It's taking around 6 minutes for 1% of charge. This is using the wall charger, it's slower if I plug it into USB. I'm barely using it while it's plugged in.
My Battery Widget says voltage is 4262mV and temp is 34.6C
It's discharging on normal use at around 10% an hour with power saver on, which I guess I'm fine with, but not if it takes that long to charge up again.
Anyone have any ideas what might be causing it or what I can do about it? (It's my first Android phone and I don't know what the factors are with this).
Thanks.
HTC One on AT&T running Nova Launcher
Dont forget to turn off wifi, blue-tooth and gps, these will kill your battery.
apps like "juice defender" can automatically turn these off if you forget them.
Change from 4g/3g to 2g/gsm it saves battery life
Dont have your screen brightness set too high
use an app like "watchdog" to find high cpu using apps and system processes
also use "wakelock detector" to see if any apps are waking your phone up and wasting battery power when it should be asleep when you are not using it.
You can also turn on the built-in "power saver" from the drop-down list.
their are lots of threads on how to save battery power

Is my charging routine bad? Here is my daily recharging
I let it charge over night. By the time I get home its normally in the 60% or so. So its left on all night until about 7am.
Then about half way through my day I charge it again while I'm at on my office. By then the phone is around 70%. So I let it charge to 100% then move on with my day.
So about 2 times a day I charge my phone. Is this healthy for the battery or does it not matter? I'm trying to get the most out of my battery. I seem to burn about 3-4% per hour with it just sitting on desk. Thanks for any advice!

Nothing wrong with that
You are charging twice a day though so you will half as many days until your battery dies. Still a couple of years until it reaches 80% capacity though

Well yeah, but don't worry about it. You'll get another phone by the time you notice a battery drop on this phone.
Ideally you should be charging the phone when the battery gets down to around 40% and charge it to almost full, 97%-99%

I've always felt that the less you charge s phone, the better in the end. And once its done charging, unplug it. So don't leave it charging over night. I have a timer set up so my phone charges only for a few hours a night then shuts off. When I wake up, my phone is usually in the 90%+ range

That's simply not true.
Lithium-Ion batteries are designed to be used - not to be used as permanent storage (thats why batteries in always-coorded laptops die faster)
(storing li-ion batteries should be done at 50% charge, never 100% nor 0%... )
Li-ion batteries should never get below 30% and likewise never hit 100% - The reason why, is because you are stressing the battery the most in the extreme ends... an almost empty cell is stressed when it has to deliver .. and an almost full cell has to charge at higher voltage to reach 100%.
So the best thing you could ever do is to charge from 30% to 95% if possible.
Regarding the amount of charges... with Li-ion you shouldn't think about the AMOUNT of charges, but the SUM OF HOURS that your charge..
so lets say you charge 500 times a year and you in total charge for 500x4 hours = 2000 hours of charging..
the battery usually last for 5.000-10.000 hours of charging ..
The reason why it is so, is because charging li-ion burns the Kathode (or Anode, can never remember) -- and when its all burned off, the battery wont charge anymore ...
Discharging too fast, also burns the Kathode (Anode) !!
Everyone is all over the place in this thread. The two things I will tell the OP to do is not leave the phone plugged in over night, and stay away from 100 and 0% and you will be fine.
But even if the OP keeps treating his battery the way he says, it will be okay. Not ideal, but still okay.
I personally try to keep the phone between 30-80%.

One should not charge it overnight.... it reduces the battery life...
Your phone will stop charging once it hits 100%, but charging to 100% every night will reduce your battery`s life to between 300-500 cycles.
If you only charge to 90% and don't discharge below 20% you will get over 1000+ cycles, but you have to manually unplug the charger.
I use an app called batterybot, to sound an alarm so i know when you charge or stop charging.

I just reversed what I usually do when charging, charge during the day and leave it off at night. My standby usage over 8 to 9 hours is about 5%. I easily get 32 hours average with around 2 to 3 screen time.

I've always charge overnight. I guess I'll have to change my charging schedule. It's a shame the One takes so long to charge, I can't just stick it on charge for 30 mins before bed.
I read that 4.2.2 charges faster, though it has not been released in the UK yet so i cannot say for certain.
