[Q] *URGENT*Kindle not powering on after rooting with KFU - 7" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I booted my kinle fire into fastboot mode and ran KFU. I chose option 2 to root the kindle and at the same time kfu installed TWRP recovery. My kindle proceeded to reboot but the kindle logo never showed up and since then it showed no sign of power. I tried the wall charger and i tried the hard reset. None of them worked. What do i do now?

Please confirm you have the first generation Kindle. I ask because you're in the Kindle Fire HD area.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the kfu utility is for the first kindle fire not the HD. I believe you have flashed the wrong bootloader and are now in an unrecoverable hard brick.

so you're saying there's nothing i can do to fix this? absolutely nothing?

I would wager yes it's gone. But you could try a fast boot cable (I'm guessing that would be a waste of money though) or you could read the thread in the kf2 thread that discusses bringing these types of bricks back to life by taking it apart and attempting to flash the boot loader straight attached to the microchip. But I'm not sure that it's been accomplished yet. Or worth the effort is you'll only be fixing one.
Some people have returned them to amazon if they were still under warranty. I believe it's kinda dishonest but hey that's your call.

Not when you flash KFU to a KFHD. That's a different bootloader. Sorryy, your tablet is permanently hard bricked.

You need to restore.. Go back to Kindle First Aide Software, restore your selected model. Hopefully adb or fastboot is still working for you? It should be with no problem, but yea thats what you need to do.
cannot get computer to mount the fire.
saw the cable mod have a few extra cables.
will be good practice and nice to have for my next mistake.

made the cable in 30min. used an LG cable that came with a phone, very easy but the connections are bare and could break.
used the recovery program from this forum.

The recovery will likely remove all the apps you had installed, but that is the only way to fix your bootloader problem. It's a brand new day!
Factory cable is a must have if you have no recovery installed. You should check out both links in my signature.
GOOD LUCK!!!

To fix your recognition errors, post your problems in the "Kindle Fire First Aide" thread. Once fixed, I strongly suggest you visit THIS thread and get TWRP. That will allow you to backup your "good" working setup, and give a recovery to boot into to load the backup if you ever mess it up. I have TWRP installed on my KFHD7 and have had zero problems with it.(in fact, it's saved me 3 times already)

Something is not right then.. You need to head over to the Kindle Fire First Aide thread and post you screen shots of what the software is telling you. Sometimes it will say succesful but in the writing there are errors. If you have used the restored option, while your kindle is able to use fastboot, then you should not be in a bootloop. Any other question just post them..

[Q] Stuck On White/Blue Kindle Fire Logo

Hey there!
I had rooted my Kindle Fire HD 7" with success from the instructions from this thread:
androidforums.com/kindle-fire-hd-all-things-root/669366-idiots-guide-rooting-kindle-fire-hd-7-7-2-3-a.htm
Then when I went on to section 4 (installing Google Play) to the bit where it says ' Before you go any further re-boot your kindle (Power off and power back on Kindle!)' the Kindle rebooted with the normal Kindle Fire Logo then changed to a white/blue Kindle Fire logo. It will not continue onto another screen and is stuck on it. I tried holding the power button down for 1 minute but just reboots the same. I am having problems detecting the Kindle, my computer recognises it for a few seconds then it makes a noise to suggest that it has disconnected. I am using Windows 8 32 bit. No orange triangle. My computer wouldn't let me paste files onto the the device.
Does this sound it is bricked? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I am a bit of a beginner to all this.
Thanks
The white and blue logo sounds like Hashcodes second bootloader.

Thank you very much. If the link doesn't work type: Idiots Guide To Rooting Kindle Fire HD
Found it. Read it. Makes no mention of a second bootloader.... I'll read more in depth. You may want to purchase a factory cable. I can't guarantee that you will need it but it's better to be prepared if someone has a solution and it requires one. A $13 investment that will save your kf when all else fails. I can't give you the exact answer but I can direct you in the right direction. The solution may be simple or it may be a pain.
Lemme get you some links.
Go here and ask about the boot logo. > Hashcodes 2nd bootloader & TWRP
And here for factory cable and possible recovery software > kindle fire first aide
Good luck.

I tried to post a comment on that thread but I do not have permission to access the page. So you think if all else fails the factory cable should sort it out? In theory....
You should be able to post a reply in the thread I linked, (bootloader). The cable is always good to have incase you have bootloader issues. Give the Kindle Fire first aide software a chance. If nothing works, even the cable, call Amazon and tell them it just died. Don't mention all the rooting business. More then likely they would send you a new one. Only use XDA methods to root your kf. AND ALWAYS GO SLOW AND READ EVERYTHING TWICE.
**EDIT** You may need a post count of 10+ to post a reply in certain threads.

[Q] (new) I need help very bad Kindle Fire HD

Ok im very new so plz dont use smart words haha ok i think i bricked my kindle i think that is the term, i had it rooted then i was in the system folder where i was trying to paste something and i acidently pasted it over a file i guess idk it closed out and it gave me a red triangle and said "your kindle dosnt seem to be able to boot. Resting your device to factory defaults may help you to fix this issue" Then it shows Reboot you kindle the other one says Reset to Factory Defaults. Ok so i select Reboot your kindle and it just goes right back to the same thing it was on. So then i select reset to factory defaults then it gives me a list of No's and one yes i select Yes and it says kindle fire and it has a loading bar that is slowly filling up. The bar hardly fills up at all then it says kindle fire and it reboots AND GOES RIGHT BACK TO THE SAME THING AS IT WAS ON!!! So any help is great and i would love any help becaose i dont want to have a 200$ or so useless kindle Fire HD

Did someone say they needed a factory cable? Lol
Sure no problem, however cables do not have brains so they do not fix kindles by themselves. All they do is put the device in to Fastboot mode. It is then up to the human and the hosting computer to successfully use Fastboot commands in order to do what ever the end goal is.
I do not own a Kindle so I can't do much on my end. All I can do is build high quality Factory Cables to force the kindles to go into Fastboot. Once you have my cable, You then need to ask the kindle experts how to use a factory cable... I would try the KFFirstAide software since it's made to fix kindles.

[Q] Installing Bootloader & TWRP with KFFIRSTAIDE!

Hi,
I just wanted to ask when flashing a new rom with KFFIRSTAIDE how long should it take? It's just my KFHD7 went to the FastBoot logo screen and it says now flashing the freedom boot loader, how long should that take? I've not done this before so didn't know if it's still working even if it looks like it isn't.
Thanks

If you bootloop, you will need a fastboot cord. You can go to Hashcode's 2nd bootloader / TWRP topic if you want to use push commands from using 7.4.6 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2128848.
You can also go to seokhun's thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2271909 and flash the 2nd bootloader / TWRP. If you do this you will want to full restore to 7.2.3 using KFFA first or bootlooping is highly likely.
Some great info about this on Opemsystem's thread as well. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2347170

Thank you for the links.
I have a question. My mom owns a kfhd7. Months ago I used kindle fire first aid (iirc) to root it. I did not have a fastboot cable, although I did get the drivers and adb working to it - I didn't want to flash a 2nd bootloader or custom recovery because I wasn't quite sure if I would soft brick it or if I could get it back without the fastboot cable. Not wanting to risk the wrath of mom... I used a utility to force golauncher, enable sound tweaks and live wallpapers. I left it like that.
But.
She somehow enabled parental controls and doesn't have a password for it... And is running out of books. So I may have an opportunity to make it a little more useful and install a custom recovery.
Not sure what to do next. Follow the 3rd thread on your list? I need a boot loader and custom recovery.

Link 2 and 3 cover the same ground. The 3rd link covers some important information that became more pertinent as the firmware expanded and bootlooping became more frequent.
Here is a very important tip. Hashcode's thread (first link) is where the boot.img and TWRP files you flash are located. Use no others unless they are posted by him. When you restore back to 7.2.3, use the boot.img listed in Hashcode's step 4. Not number 4 of step 2 but step 4. Use that 7.2.3 boot.img and which ever TWRP he has in his original post. This way you have a match and if you read and follow the instructions exactly, you should turn out just fine.

[Q] Kindle Fire HD 2013 model rooting help

I'm having two issues with my Kindle Fire HD 2013 model. First I can't get it to be recognized by my laptop, it was once before but ever since it hasn't been. Secondly I'd like to root the Kindle so that I can add apps from Google Play. So far, the only was to root the device that I've found are by connecting it to the PC. Is there anyway to root it without hooking it up via USB? Also, does anyone think they could help me? I'd really appreciate any help.
Find a one-click no computer root tool for android.... it accepts apks just so you know... go find one and download a apk of it then install and click root button done
I would recommend TowelRoot

Link broken. Is there a better source?
Can I use fastboot to flash a rom even though I do not have root? I do have a working fastboot cable, but I'm on the latest version of the Kindle OS and there is no root for it.

You need kindle suite and a fastboot cable.
Get kindle suite here:

Buy a fastboot cable on eBay.
