I have just installed CM10.1 on my Nook HD+ and all appears to be going well.
I am now wondering how I can install apps I have purchased from Barnes & Noble to my tablet? I have the Nook app but it only shows books and magazines, not apps. And when I go into my B&N library online, there is no option to download the apps.
Thank you.

You cannot. But if you know what you are doing, you can. You can put stock back on and install the apps from B&N. Then root with my universal root. Then copy the apk files from /data/app and move them to your sdcard. Then once CM10.1 is reinstalled, use the copied apk files to reinstall. Most will work but some may not.
You can get my universal root from my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature.

Thank you for your reply.
I dont think its worth me going to that much trouble for the apps I have at B&N. There is only a handful and none are all that important or were very expensive. I read someone elses comment somewhere that they had been able to get their B&N apps working but they didnt say how, so I assume they did as you have suggested. If I had more apps at B&N I would probably make the effort but at least I now know it is actually possible.
Thank you
Just sideload them from somewhere like aptoide.
You've paid for them so it's not exactly piracy! Not in my eyes anyway!

Got a rooted nook through nookdevs.com. Mistakingly deleted contacts app in titanium backup app and not having backed it up. Now I have no more contacts app on my Nook. Now I am unable to log in to Gtalk and now I can not download apps in the market. Been looking of contacts.apk compatible with rooted nook but have not found one. Am I right that deleting my contacts app by mistake has something to do with my gtalk fail and android market fail? If yes please help. Thanks...
Are you sure it was just the contacts app and not the GoogleFrameworkServices.apk file as well?
I did not uninstall that. It was only the contacts app that I uninstalled.

I have a question about a Rooted Nook also. I used Auto-Nooter 3.0 and everything worked fine. I backed up the ROM last week and flashed HC from deeper blue. It was nice but I decided to go back to my old ROM. Now my Market acts strange. It won't let me look at my downloads, it just jumps back to the main Market page. When I view the Market online on my computer it doesn't seem to be linking to my Nook now because when I download something on the Market on the computer it doesn't download on the Nook as it did before. I also can't get my email to stay open.
My thought is to wipe date with Titanium Backup but I can't find any info about this. Has anyone had experience with this and have advice to offer?
Thanks.
So I sussed out the steps to root the Nook HD+ and got Gapps running.
Some apps, Google Play says " aren't compatible with your device." It's been suggested to 'sideload' them.
Googling how to do this, it seems like a PITA but I followed thru.
Basically, I had to run a program called "ES File Explorer" and have it find an already installed version of WordHero on my phone.
I took that APK, put it on my Google Drive, then loaded it on the Nook HD and it works.
Is there a more direct way to get the APK from Google Play? Or, is my route going to be to pull it from my phone via ES File Explorer and put it on the Nook HD+?
Bonus Question: Will apps that are side-loaded auto-update correctly?
Is there a known source for the Chrome APK ?

Another source of free apps is 1mobile.com. It installs an app very much like Play Store and will let you download and install them when Play Store might not.
If Play Store said it was not compatible and you sideloaded it, I doubt it will auto-update.

Hello,
I've just rooted my KFHD7 and installed GO Launcher HD.
Everything is working fine but I don't seem to be able to access my kindle books from it. I can go back to the carousel and open books there, but when I try to open the Kindle reader application nothing happens?
Does anyone have any experience with this?
Any help would be appreciated thanks
same issue in Nova, no solution here either

Does that on mine, too. I made a app shortcut (it's the home app) to the Go desktop and just click the house icon to get back to Go after I've finished reading. Does that make sense? It's not ideal but it's ok for me for now.
I tried ADW launcher and the standard Go launcher and they had the same issue. Not tried any others though.
Edit: Oops, sorry replied to wrong thread, that's what I get for having multiple tab's open on xda, d'oh!
I have the same problem.. someone has solved it?
Go to system/app/ folder and move the kindle for otter apk (this is the amazon kindle version that comes with the kindle) so place this in a safe place like your download folder. Then restart kindle device. Once restarted install this one http://db.tt/G14HspkX Now any book thats not been purchased by amazon needs to go in the kindle folder not books folder.

Move the books to your kindle folder. And you need to change the app settings in. The. System folder.

Should not have to change anything. I actually just deleted the books folder the kindle folder is now your books folder. Books folder is from the original kindle app. Kindle folder is for the one you installed. You can copy and paste everything from the books folder to the kindle folder and all your books should transfer to the new app.

Is this method compatible with the latest Kindle apps on Google Play ?
Is it safe after the reboot ?
If yes, i think it will be good than anyone create a tutorial for a Working Kindle App on a launcher
Thanks
Yes this is good thru a reboot all this does is remove it as a system app and makes it a user app. If you install this over the system app then on reboot the kindle reinstalls its version back to the system. So when its just removed the system no longer looks for it. When the new kindle app is installed its installed to sdcard instead and is no longer bound to kindle system.
Also if you want it to work in kindle os as well as launcher keep the books folder and make sure you keep both books folder and kindle folder with the same exact files in them.

This is the same version as the one on Play Store.

Just create a shortcut to amazon kindle. Any books you have open and are actively reading will open automatically. Now to change books just go to home and pick a new one.
What I did was move the Kindle app out of the system folder with Titanium Backup (requires root). I may not have needed to do that because my next step was to "backup and uninstall" (again with Titanium Backup). I then went to Google Play/Market and re-installed from there. Now it works fine.
Update: you do have to change Kindle app from a system app to user app if you want to do a "backup/uninstall". Another option may to just to a "force remove", but I wanted to have the app backed up.

No. It is an issue with Play Store. Just because it says incompatible does not mean it will not run, it just means you cannot install it from them.
Try some alternate stores like Amazon Store or the one from 1mobile.com. or download them from the web somewhere and install.

I just rooted my Nook HD, even selecting "fix permisssions" in the root menu, but still can't seem to install apk's that aren't from the Nook Store. Can someone help me?

You need to enable unknown sources. Go to my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature and flash my zip that does that.
