1- does it give you a sim card error -> if so could be a loose simcard, you may need to use the "tape" thingy
2- are you SuperCID? some carrier's are blocking that

Could simply be a defective SIM card. I'd take my phone by the store to see what's up.

no it does not give the error about the sim.and yes i am superCID but most of time it works fine.

try setting back to your carriers CID and see if the problem goes away, I've definitely seen it being blocked for quite a few people; for some the case was similar to yours, for others the dialer wouldnt work at all.
try changing it and see how it goes, if it does work after changing CID, why not post back and let us know which carrier/country you're on to know it's being blocked.

i am on orange but i also tried o2 and still the same problem at least once a day i have to restart the phone.and then it works fine.
and it is not carrier branded phoe.

doesn't matter if it's branded or not, for some it started working again after changing CID to anything (like HTC__001) but not SuperCID. i would recommend trying it.
good luck mate

thanks will change CID tomorrow and report back.

no signal

Hi
Every time my incredible S is left for a while it the signal goes to zero. It then stays that way untill I try to make a call and then it goes back to normal ..... until the next time. This seems to happen sveral times each day.
Is there anything I can do to rectify this?
Did you tried to flash newer radio, this may fix your issue.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1129014&highlight=radio
Take the latest from the list "20.2810.30.085AU_3805.06.03.16".
If this doesn't fix your issue then try to reflash.
In order to flash radio, you have to be S-OFF.
Hope I helped..
Couldn't get it to s-off. Kept saying failed to get root so guess I'm gonna have to re-flash.
Cheers m8

if it goes to normal when you are making a call than what is the issue? Are the phone calls bad qaulity? etc?? If it bugs you that much than call your service provider and ask them. Possibly get a new phone sent to you.
He might not be able to receive texts or calls when he leaves his phone as the signal is 0.

Try taking the back off and cleaning the contacts on the phone and the back cover. They are the antenna.
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using XDA App
Then try to flash to virgin mobile ruu so to be able to s-off

Try flashing a different ROM, upgrading your ROM, or factory reset your device, if none of this thing works, then your phone has some phisical damage/problem.
Hope this helps
All I tried.4 different rom istalled and is the again. I think it was a sim card.???

Try with a different SIM and then you will know if it is because of the SIM, but as far as i know, there couldn't be a relation between a faulty SIM and a software reboot, but who knows.
Maybe it's a hardware problem, in this case you should make it as stock as possible, lock it and bring it to warranty if you have one
Hope this helps and keep searching, maybe your problem is present at other devices, maybe you will find a fix there.

By any chance is it a CDMA device and your trying GSM sim Cards?
or is the device fully locked down - or been reported as stolen?

No it's a GSM Devce because of the SIM-Card-Slot (or am I wrong? How can I identify?). The Device was bought in Germany and is not reported as stolen!
might sound silly... but could i ask when you say not getting signal, is it registering with a carrier at all?
Hmmm i think the device may need to go back to where it was bought from... Without looking at the phone, i would guess the Sim Contact between the card and phone might be faulty... Try talking to HTC directly, they mave have an answer.

[Q] SIM stopped working in my LG Optimus 4X HD

I'm new to this.
A totally random event. I restarted my phone one evening last week and it show no sim. Using the LG support tool I had multiple failed attempts to update the software. Then as sudden a the sim registration had disappeared it came back to life. All fine until again the phone just stopped registering the sim.
Phone is secondhand. And I have tried numerous times removing, cleaning and replacing the SIM. Tried another active SIM on the same network with no luck.
I've never had a 'bricked' phone so don't know what to expect but I imagine the phone wouldn't even boot up!
I have now rooted the phone and installed CWM recovery, still no joy and have in desperation performed a hard reset. Nada!
Software is V10h. I read something about EFS folder to backup but all I could find is a text file. The IMEI is not registering on the phone. It could be a very simple answer but currently I'm stumped. I have requested a replacement SIM but have little hope this will resolve the issue.
I hope someone has an answer...

re-flash 10h or 20a kdz. look for various tutorials on the forum. (btw, your phone isnt registring on network cuz your imei isnt being read, probably due to failed upgrade process
(or some other bug). it should be fixable though)
also, replacement sim wont help. its your cell phone that's faulty, either hardware or software, not the SIM itself
also, i'm not sure how it goes if your IMEI is blacklisted by your cell phone company - is it possible the phone was stolen? perhaps the original owner reported it stolen to his carrier and they blocked the IMEI?

If the IMEI is blacklisted, the phone will still show it correctly in the settings and the carrier will just block based on this. This is why changing an IMEI is illegal in most countries and why discussions on how to change it aren't allowed on XDA as it can get the site in serious trouble.

check if ur gapps are fine. reinstall all gapps. maybe u deleted some app that u shouldnt. happened to me too 2 weeks ago and i had no sim so signal , i couldnt see my imei, etc. if that doesnt help , then reinstall ur rom or install a custom one. I mean maybe u must be sure to check if u deleted some system app that u shouldnt. Since u have double checked with other sim , if its not from an app , then the above thread is right, the owner could have reported the phone stolen

Okay, strange happenings with this phone. I've not hd the opportunity to re-flash as suggested but by the by I put my SIM back in and it worked fine. IMEI registered in the phone settings and all was as it should be. Until again first the signal disappeared and when I restarted the SIM did not register. Has anyone experienced this before?

There have been some problems with this, but normally due the the RIL on CyanogenMod-based ROMs. I would suggest that you find the time to either reflash v10h or upgrade to v20A/B/C (as appropriate for your region) and see if that fixes it for you.
you still havent mentioned anything about gapps. this means you checked and you are sure that they are fine ??
So I have tried flashing software V20A using the LG software updater and now all I get is the phone booting into 'S/W Upgrade please wait while upgrading'
I can get into any other screen, despite pressing all combination of buttons together.
I have attempted reflashing back to V10H and try and get it back to how I had the phone. No luck there
And also tried again with V20A. No joy.
Is there anything else I could try?

I have always found this thread [TUTORIAL]Update firmware through flashing the kdz files( With Picture )Step by Step works perfectly every time.
Got the same problem here, running cm for a month with no probs, restarted phone and sim not recognized. Installed a backup of the original rom and everything ok. Reflashed kdz's and did a fresh install of cm and still no sim. Am now on Zaiben which is ok but takes about 15 mins to recognize sim?

flushing ruu will not end

I'm flushing a tmibile ruu into rooted with custom ROM. I did all step. Installed drivers, relocked bootloader, launched the exe all went well except that the whole operation should take about 10min. It's been an hour now and it's not finished, it's still updating. That's not normal. Am I doing something wrong? Any suggestion on what to do to finish this update up.?

If your sure your using the correct ruu it could be HTCSync. Do you have it installed. If you do uninstall it but leave drivers installed. Reboot your pc and try again. HTCSync is known to interfere with RUU mode
Other than that just make sure you have the correct ruu. It should match your MID and CID and if your s-on it must match or have a newer firmware than you currently have :good:

Can you post the output of
Code:
fastboot getvar all
What type of bootloop are you having, looping before its finished booting or is it booting up ok then randomly restarting.
Did it bootloop immediately after flashing the ruu or did you flash something after like a custom recovery or rom?

It reboots randomly sometimes just after boot loop when swept lock screen to get to home, sometimes it for about 10min then reboots. I'm not rooted anymore I have stock recovery that's why I flashed the ruu. Because when I was running custom ROMs, there was no random reboot but the baseband was unknown, no radios I couldn't connect to network. I tried to flash tmo radio through twrp it succeeded but baseband remained unknown. That's why I wanted to unroot and go back to stock. Sorry I don't know the history of this phone. That's the way i got it rooted, unlocked bootloader, twrp recovery running cm11 with no baseband.

I have come across many cases of this on the forum. Only one of them I was able to help get working again and the symptoms were slightly different. There was no RUN in that case so we returned it to stock with a ROM and firmware package and it was working normally again. Obviously the RUU will have done this for you.
Only 1 other i know of that was repaired and it was opened up and to the best of my knowledge the Antenna Connector wire was replaced. And it solved the problem. I'll try track down a link for that one and post it here.

I did flash the ruu once again it was worse, I did not go past the lock screen. as soon as I swipe to get to home it reboots. now I decided rooting it again and using a custom rom like cm11 or smoothliquid, the rebooting problem did not exist when I used them, but I hope the base band holds there this time.
I succeeded to submit a token to htddev to unlock bootloader again, and I'm waiting for the unlock code bin email. it's been like 10hrs and still nothing. should I do something or just wait?

CM11 will stop the rebooting, I don't know why but it does. It won't fix it though. But at least the device will be stable.
This issue is also known to get worse overtime. So I think it will only get worse.
If you have your original unlock_code.bin you can just flash it again you don't need to wait for htcdev.
If you don't have it on your pc see if you still have the original e-mail it was attached to. :good:
