[Q] Factory reset but keep rom, HTC One - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Trying to sell my rooted and flashed HTC One. I want to do a factory reset to erase my pictures, data, accounts, etc but I want to keep it rooted and flashed to the rom installed which is Android Revolution 31.0
What is the safest way to do this?

Do a full wipe in recovery and sideload the ARHD

Really easy. Just boot into your custom recovery whether it ne CWM or TWRP and do a factory reset and also wipe the system

Will system wipe require me to reload the ROM again?

HERO to CYANOGEN?

G1 is stuck on T-Mobile G1 screen for over 10 mins HELP! I wiped everything.
If you want help, I recommend telling us specifically what you did (what Hero you were on, what version of Cyan you flashed, what recovery you're using)
But without knowing any of that, I'm going to suggest (assuming you have Amon_Ra's latest recovery) that you boot to recovery and wipe everything a couple times, then flash Cyan. By everything, I mean Factory Reset, Wipe EXT, Wipe Dalvik-Cache, and to be safe, Repair EXT. And do all those at least once, factory reset again, and flash.

You don't mods will, and it wasn't flamed or anything so it'll probably stay for awhile

[Q] bootloop after factory reset

Hi
I wanted to update my 5830, so I flashed firmware via ODIN to the newest, all was good since I wanted to give my phone to my wife, and I needed to do factory reset... after that my phone stuck in bootloop, cant go more than samsung logo, sometimes animation, and its blinking and restarting again. What can I do? I performed new flash with new rom - all going good, but I'm trying to factory reset it again, and its bootlooping again...
can some1 help me back my phone to good condition with factory reset possibility?

I'v done this several times, by cwm and by stock recovery - same result. Finally I've installed branded rom and it's working perfectly to the moment I wanted to uninstall operator apps by titanium backup. Sometimes at the finishing of uninstall phone reboots... but working.

yeah n between uninstalling system apps system boots but thats not a problem as those apps which you wanna remove get removed even if your phone gets rebooted
Did you also wipe dalvik? Try to flash a stock (old) firmware via odin and do this steps.
1.reboot to recovery
2.wipe data /factory reset
3.wipe cache partition
4.reboot
İt has to boot normally in 2-3 minutes. İf doesnt tou gotta make a Jtag operation which you cannot do without the RiffBox.

You should flash a multi package firmware when rolling back from custom roms.XXKPH is one such rom, then you can flash latest update afterwards.Cache etc never matter for me

[Q] Factory Reset on Rooted M7

Hi friends,
I wanted to be very sure before I tried anything stupid and end up bricking my phone.. I hope you will find time to answer some of these questions..:fingers-crossed:
Is it safe to factory reset a rooted HTC One M7?
If it was safe, do I need to do anything special like factory reset it from TWRP (what?) or just hit the Back Up and Reset option in the Settings of the phone?
Will I lose my root access?
Appreciate your time! :victory:
Much respect,

Factory reset from backup reset will fail because you don't have stock recovery
Factory reset in TWRP deletes the /data partition
make a backup first just in case.
If you want a true wipe factory reset you need a RUU (ROM Update Utility)

download the rom
transfer to internal storage
boot 2 TWRP(2.6.3.3)
wipe-- advanced wipe-- wipe dalvik cache, system, data, cache
install
choose rom
swipe to flash
finished.
btw, very unlikely that a hardbrick can occur unless ur on low charge nd the phone conks off in the middle of installation

Well i will need to search properly. But a wipe is usually recommended when you are installing a new rom. It is NECESSARY when you are switching roms which have a different base. Like Stock Android based ROMs like Cyanogenmod to Sense based ROMs like ARHD or vice versa.
P.S. If you think that i helped you, please hit the thanks button

Having issues trying to flash anything. Would appreciate some help from a pro.

So I am trying to flash the nougat CM, but it keeps on failing. My moto x is currently on the 6.0 brazil firmware that was leaked almost a year ago. I flashed that firmware and then flashed US radios. That is where my device currently stands. After failing to flash CM 14 I tried to flash CM 13 so that maybe I could take that path to CM 14. However, that has failed as well. So then I tried to flash official 6.0 from motorola to at least get back onto 1097 firmware. No go. I am literally unable to flash anything. I have flashed the most current version of TWRP via fastboot, but thats about as far as I'm able to get. The bootloader is also unlocked. I would really appreciate somebodies time to help me out with this if they could. Thank you.
I assume you are at least doing the default wipe with twrp (data, dalvick and cache)? You may need to wipe even more though. What exactly is happening when you try to flash the zip with twrp?
And after full wipe (cache, dalvik, data AND system), make a factory reset of your phone. (Wipe->Swipe to Factory Reset)
After all try flashing again and you will have no problems.

Yes I have wiped. It says "error 7" when trying to flash CM 14 when I tried flashing the stock moto 1097 firmware it said something about signed Android version from Google or something.

I have factory reset a couple times. Still no go.
I think I'll find the thread that had a guide on how to flash the Brazilian firmware that I'm on and see if there's an accompanying guide on reverting back and go from there. Worse case I brick it. Time for a new phone anyway. Lol.
