It is not on the Asus support page for the US SKU, but Android Police already received the OTA and installed it.
Does unlocking puts the tablet to receive OTA later than locked tablets?

I can confirm battery life indeed improved on 4.3. Haven't been using the tablet that much over the past days, but it has been on stand-by for nearly 4 days, with 4 hours of screen on and i'm still at 40%.
Not bad at all.
Yeah that's gonna be be the big question. I will be recieving mine in a few days. Should I take the OTA first then unlock and Root. Or Unlock, Root then take the OTA and just reroot?

Not sure if the unlock tool works with 4.3, so I would unlock first, OTA (or flash with fastboot if available on website), then root (you will lose root anyway when upgrading to 4.3, so no point in rooting before the update).

Yeah the US update isn't out yet, as I just checked the Asus website. The only 4.3 OTA is the TW version.
EDIT: 4.3 Firmware not OTA I meant.
I checked for system update, and it said I was up to date, then the firmware update notification popped up.

Just about every hour of the day, I have touched my finger on that "Check Now" button in the System Updates page. It keeps saying I am up to date, although my system software number still says it is 4.2.2. I am on stock android, non-rooted, and I live in the USA. I just don't get it.
Also I am EST, so right now it is 9:18 pm as I post this.
It always takes a day or two for the rollout to get to everyone. Just chill, you'll probably get it by tomorrow.

OTA rootkeeper will NOT keep root they changed the way security works in 4.3

Android 4.3 Notes:
Based on Android 4.3 release notes, on Enterprise and Security, Restrict Setuid from Android Apps, su binaries and Superuser apps designed for previous Android generation will simply not work on 4.3:
It means preserving root with OTA Root Keeper won't be possible anymore as new rooting techniques rely on more than just a setuid su binary in /system.
I'll look into solution of course to preserve the functionality if possible, but until then please follow Chainfire's job on SuperSU betas.

Ok so I got the update a few days ago and it failed to install because I'm unlocked and rooted and all that jazz. So I grabbed the zip file out of /cache and uploaded it here:

For what it's worth, the last few times I've checked for an update, my phone says I'm up to date even though I'm still on 4.2.

Even without root this phone is amazing! This is coming from someone who used to flash a new rom daily. Now like you, I still prefer root for certain apps but this phone is so good it would be just as enjoyable without root. You might get lucky and get one that's been in the cabinet for a couple of weeks then you could root it. If not I'd still get it. I would bet we will have a way to root the newer software before long anyway.

There is an alternative root method, it is not going to get released before 4.4 though... If it get released now, then the exploit will undoubtedly get patch with 4.4... So the creator is waiting for the big update to release, then release his root method.

there is an exploit for the comera ota update now. It is not that complicated if you toy with your phone and know how to use adb and run some simple commands. There is a video for it and another thread that gives you instructions for windows for those that really don't know how to run things in cmd prompt.

I'm pretty sure the current root method won't work once the Flex is updated to KitKat. I know with the G2 a developer was able to make a stock KitKat Rom with Root quickly. Not sure the Flex will be so lucky since the Flex seems more locked down then the G2. I was a flash whore but I'm cool with stock for now.

there might not be any other way; after all, 5.0 encrypts your entire phone, so one could assume the bootloader has to be locked for that to happen..

well, no one HAS to take an OTA update, and, if you are rooted, make sure you do NOT take the update..
If you are rooted and on a custom rom, the odds are you wont even get a notification that there is an update..

I don't see any setting to not check for updates like there used to be going back to froyo. How do you prevent an update being downloaded if you're not rooted?
Great choice. T-Mobile is the way to go. Welcome.

Wrap it in aluminum foil. J/k...just be extra careful not to have quick fingers when and if you do receive an Ota.

In past TMO Samsung phones, custom recovery changed the Current Binary setting from Samsung Official to Custom. That alone disabled OTA updates. I suspect it's the same on the N4.Perhaps someone who rooted prior to the NJ7 update can confirm.

I am on the NJ7 and can confirm any update check comes back with the "custom software, no updates for you" message.
Well I returned the AT&T version and brought home a t mobile note 4.
What are your thoughts about taking the t mobile update. Can we still root and unlock the bootloader if we take the update

t mobile bootloader is already unlocked
and yes ,you can still root after you take the update; all the new roms are based on the updated firmware anyways..

Thanks brother. I thought I seen a couple people having trouble after the update.

its all good, super easy to root, to flash TWRP, and to flash a new rom...there are about 5 or 6 already, and they all run really well!

Just be sure to read the posts about s-health and private mode. If you can, don't use s-health until after you root and if you plan on using it, disable secure storage in wanam. Otherwise you're going to get some annoying lag.
Also if you're going to flash a custom ROM and want to use the fingerprint scanner, make sure you use the scanner on the stock ROM first. Folks are having issues on custom ROMs if they've never used the scanner beforehand.
