Hi,
Will Nexus 7 (2012) get Android updates in future ?
If yes then how long Google will keep on releasing updates for it ?
I am planning to buy one as its available at very low price.
Thanks.
Yes it already had kitkat

Still no OTA update yet though, so you'll have to flash it yourself

YES.
Yes, it is running on my N7 2012 now - KRT16O or KitKat 4.4 was manually flashed/updated & rooted again with TWRP. A series of Apps updated via Play Store. Downloaded a 1.4MB patch/update - which should update it KRT16S "This software update ... improves performance and stability and fixes bugs." - with the prompt to "Restart & Install"
Interesting, my Nexus 5's build number is KRT16M and showing no newer update when I checked it just now.
go, get it!

It will surely get updates. If not OTA from Google, there are great Devs for this device who will support for long.
Btw Flipkart slashed price to 8499Rs for the 16GB one. Go, get one!

As I am getting a Nexus 6P on Project Fi, I will also be looking out for release. It has been a while since I have been able to root a phone (coming from Moto X / 2014), so I have a bit of an itch for customization and modification.:silly::highfive:
I was looking at the Nexus 6 factory images. It looks like it jumps from 6.0 to 7.1.1, then back to 6.0, then 7.1.1......is this an error or were the 7.1.1 beta builds ?
Also is Google still making factory images for the Nexus 6 ? I thought that development was over for it, but I am pleased to see not so.
Take a look at the "shamu" section: https://developers.google.com/android/images
It's all there.
EDIT: I think you are affirming that =P Yes, we're going to receive security updates from now on. 7.1.1 is the final Android version.
Google is releasing three builds per month. One build for android 6.0, one for android 7.0 and one for android 7.1.1
Development was over at android 7.1.1 And all build has security patches only.
Correct, I was just confirming that the security updates were being rolled out. Then after Nov that's it huh ? Only custom development ? This is my first Nexus where development will stop /

Well, every Nexus get software updates from Google during 2 years.
Seeing all the ROMs in development/original development, the Nexus 6 is far from being dead... :good:
Cheers...
Anyone know if and when we will get an updated version of Android N, like 7.1?
Nope. Hopefully soon.
Perhaps with the Daydream support update..
<sarcasm>When the S9 is announced</sarcasm>
I wouldn't be surprised if they won't update to 7.1 and just wait til 8.0. by then Pixel 2 would be running 8.1.4 lol
from the leak info it looks like the note 8 will come out with 7.1.1. so it means we wont get it until after note 8 release. since samsung likes to keep their latest update for their new flagship devices.
Wich to me makes no sense at all...why not push the 7.1 to older phones to work out all the bugs for the newer device??

I received info about Android 9 Pie OTA upgrade today. I'm not sure what to do? Is it worth to install upgrade or not? I've heard a lot of bad experiences about Pie. Any suggestion about install this upgrade or not...

The stock rom is on 7.1.2 and you can't downgrade it to 5.0.0 and you may need to add the max API level to 25 which is nougat
