[Q] return to stock after rum runner - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am TMOB101 (the german t-mobile) i have successfully s-offed using rum runner.
There is no RUU for my phone as far as i know..
Is there a way to s-on again?
does rum runner backup my original hboot, so i can restore it to go back s-on?

You can flash the GuruReset ROM for your version: http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/guru_reset_m7_2-24-111-3-zip/
Make sure you choose to flash stock recovery and boot etc.
When all back to fully stock you are then safe to s-on again by issuing the following command: fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
Hope that comes in useful

Why do you need to s-on? And with s-off you can flash any RUU that you want. To s-on again, the command is "fastboot oem writesecureflag 3", but you need to be COMPLETELY stock before you do this, or you'll have a hard brick.

thank you for your answers.. I want to s-on to send back for warranty issues (purple tint).
I just want to understand how it works..
Rum runner installed an unsecured hboot. correct?
in order to s-off i need to go back to stock hboot first? people install RUU so they can install 1)stock rom, 2)stock radio, 3) stock recovery 4)stock hboot correct?
the Guru Reset rom just installs rom, recovery and radio (no hboot?)
can i just install any RUU and s-on? i thought i needed the one matching my phone

ok i found this http://www.htc1guru.com/guides/return-stock-guide/ and answered most of my questions.. except one:
As i said there is no RUU for me.. i will use a nandroid to restore most of the stuff. BUT there will be a mismatch between my stock Rom installed and the firmware (what is written in bootloader screen OS:XXXXXXX) How can i fix that?
can i just install the TMOB101 firmware from here http://android-revolution-hd.blogspot.gr/p/android-revolution-hd-mirror-site-var.html and fix the mismatch?

Once you flash the guru reset, and then perform the OTA, you'll be on the same firmware after install.

Yeah but that will be different than the one my cid is supposed to have.. won't HTC service notice?

[Q] Get completely back to stock for repair

Hi,
i need to get back to stock after i did
- S-OFF via revone (without unlocking via htcdev)
- Flash TWRP recovery
- Did a NANDROID of the stock rom
- Install ViperOne ROM
Originalbuild:
1.29.401.16 CL177101 release-keys
I think there are 2 options:
1) Run a RUU
2) Restore stock rom via RWRP and flash original recovery, then S-ON via revone
Is this right? What shall i do best?
And where do i get the stock recovery for 2)
And the 1.29 RUU WWE Europe is not available, can i just run the way older one and then OTA to 1.29?
Thank you very much!
Regards
Daniel

You mean this one
"RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.7_Radio_4A.13. 3231.27_10.31.1131.05_release_310878_signed.exe"
?
Is it possible to flash an older RUU when a newer version is installed at the moment?
S-ON is done with the RUU? Or do i need to do this seperately?
Then just OTA to get 1.29 (which they delivered)?

Yep, that one. With S-OFF you can flash an older RUU as it doesn't check the current mainver on the device. Once you have flashed the RUU and confirmed it's working you can then set the CID back to HTC__001 (if you changed it to Super CID) and then back to S-ON and you're good to go!

Tampered should not appear when i did not unlock via htcdev i thought?
Where do i find the traces of revone?
Hi,
here is my report of getting back to stock:
1) Flashed latest available RUU
2) Updated via OTA but did not get the absolute latest software (which was on the device before)
3) pushed revone to the device and locked it again
4) wrote secureflag 3 for s-on
5) deleted revone from /data/local/tmp (!!!)
6) flashed the latest OTA via fastboot manually (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42924796)
Done
Worked like a charm
Thanks guys! Thanks revone Team!

[Q]Reverting to stock firmware (three) and stock ROM (s-off)

Hey guys,
Right, I have a hardware issue with my phone so need to return it to Three UK.
Currently I have Android Revolution HD 11 on my phone and have updated to 2.17 firmware, s-off.
So I need stock, firmware to be reverted to 1.28.771 and to change my CID to H3G__001 (currently HTC__001). There doesn't appear to be an RUU for three.
First off I'm assuming the H3G nandroid backup in the "[COLLECTION] HTC M7 RUU, OTA, and Stock Nandroid Downloads" thread doesn't actually touch the firmware so it would remain at 2.17?
So my thinking is this:
Flash the generic europe RUU (do I need to lock my bootloader before doing this)? (RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.7_Radio_4A.13. 3231.27_10.31.1131.05_release_310878_signed.exe)
Change CID to H3G__001
Nandroid restore of H3G ROM. (M7 CWM Nandroid Backup / CID H3G__001 / 1.28.771.x )
s-off to lock and remove tamper.
s-on.
OTA update?
Will this work?
Or does anyone have a link to the 1.28.771 firmware?
Thanks for the help.

You don't have to lock the bootloader and you need s-off to downgrade.

Rest of the steps...well sounds good but unfortunatelly i'm not expert so dunno
I'm really interested if it works this way for you as i have a VF-uk one, and once i have to go back to stock this info would be really helpful.
Please let we know your progress
Good luck

Hey,
Yup this worked perfectly (almost). Reset your CID to your originally carriers before running the nandroid backup or it will be missing your carriers boot screen.
The only thing is the recovery seems to be missing. I'd expect the HTC recovery to load when selecting it from the bootloader but all I get is a red triangle. I obviously need to sort this before sending it back (Monday).
Any ideas?
I haven't s-on'd yet because I want to sort out recovery first. That should be pretty simple though.
I guess I just need a link to stock recovery.img.
Just tried and mine does same. I have stock recovery so thats fine.
Hope you get a nice new one:laugh:
Cheers
Stock recovery will display a red triangle..your all set

Yup. I just realised. Completely 100% back to stock now with s-on.
It's been quite a journey. Hopefully they can repair it quickly so I can get ARHD 11 back on.

If I ain't wrong,
1. Get the RUU's
2. Change CID to HTC_001 before flashing RUU
3. Flash RUU
4. Write original CID
5. Nandroid Restore
6. Re S-ON with Revone
Is that right?

Normally you would use the following command to install custom recovery:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Use this command instead:
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
That allows you to boot into custom recovery without actually installing it onto your phone.

[Q] how to downgrade firmware

I updated firmware to 2.24.401(s-off),but now I have a camera issue,I want to go back to 1.29.708.16(I can't find this firmware) then turn to s-on for warranty, there isn't update to 4.2 in HK(where I bought the phone),so how can I downgrade firmware to 1.29,and can I change the firmware number by change "mainver" in android-info.txt ?

If you are returning your phone for service then you can run an RUU if your phone has one.
It will reset everything back to stock, even the firmware. Check here:

If your s-off then a RUU can downgrade your firmware. (I did this on a phone I returned for service without issues) If you are still s-on I don't think it will.
You just download the RUU.exe and run it on your PC and it guides you through resetting everything on the phone.

That depends on the carrier/vendor. If you don't have a RUU you could also run an RUU for another area (Since your S-off) to downgrade the firmware and then root it and use one of the posted stock nandroids to restore to your proper areas stock config. Then do the stuff to re-lock your bootloader. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43458497

I can back to stock rom,but firmware version can't change, because there aren't ruu of HongKong, any ideas to change firmware version?
Since your S-off you can change your CID to use another RUU like this one:
http://bugsylawson.com/files/file/1...14325013-1033115001-release-311678-signedexe/
The RUU will set the device firmware back to stock. Then restore your stock ROM and you should be ok.
Also if you have it stock rom and setup now, you may just want to put S-on so that it says Locked and S-on on bootloader and your vendor will probably not care about the firmware version.

The red warning in hboot is from being unlocked. Once you have back to stock (especially recovery) then the red warning will be gone. For sure after re-locking.

how can I backup stock recovery?
because there are not ruu of HK,so I should use TWRP to restore nandroid backup from HK htc one. then back to stock recovery .
Yes you would TWRP to restore and then flash the stock recovery and relock.
Here is a post where I helped another and it has the stock recovery and instructions for flashing if needed.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43625746&postcount=17
Just an FYI that this method will not downgrade the firmware, but just get you back to locked and a stock look, but with the newer firmware.
Let me know if you need something else.

[Q] Just want to confirm if I can flash RUU when I"m S-OFF and CID11111111

All,
I have the Dev Edition with S-OFF and CID111111 running ARHD 13.3. With the latest update to the Dev Edition to 4.3, can I just flash the RUU for the latest of the Dev Edition? Will it work with TWRP custom recovery?
Thanks for any info.
Emh, the RUU isn't a zip, but an exe that you have to flash with the pc...
However, you can flash it
You can flash an RUU when S-OFF with Super CID, I've done it a number of times
The RUU is a complete update so it will overwrite the custom recovery anyway
Awesome guys....with that being said, I have a few more question. Since I'm S-Off and Super CID, you said I can flash any RUU, but it will wipe the custom recovery. That is fine, but when I want to flash a ROM in the future, I will have to reflash a new recovery correct? Will this mess with my HBOOT? I'm on 1.55 right now.
Also, I'm on the http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39588860 looking at the collecdtion of RUU's...do I flash the ZIP, EXE or the Decrypted RUU's?
Again, thanks for your replies!
Download the RUU from HTCDev directly so you know you've got the right file, then flash it with the phone connected in fastboot. It will downgrade the HBOOT and put the phone back to 1.29.1540.16 and be just like it was out the box (except you'll still be S-OFF with Super CID). You can then get the OTA to .17 and then the OTA to Android 4.3...after that, you can flash a custom recovery and do what you want (but I'd take a nandorid first of course)
EDDYOS,
Thanks for all your info!! I will do exactly that!
One last question, I promise...since I am on S-OFF I should not be worried that flashing the RUU and downgrading to HBOOT 1.54 and not be able to achieve SOFF again? Cause isn't 1.54 having issues with SOFF? Or does that not matter to me since I have the Dev Editoin?
Again, thanks for all your advice.
You'll stay S-OFF so it's irrelevant...the only way you'll go S-ON is if YOU make it. RUUs/OTAs don't touch it
Example:
I'm currently on 2.24.401.8, HBOOT 1.54 and have S-OFF (as I did it when I could ages ago). I recently went back to 1.28.401.7 using the RUU and was still S-OFF. I then got the 4 OTAs to get back to 2.24.401.8 and I'm still S-OFF

[Q] Back to Stock

Sorry if it is a noob question
I have a Rogers HTC One, 4.2.2 KitKat, S-On, HBoot 1.56, Software 4.19.631.9, Root, TWRP (unlocked at HTC Dev)
I don't have a Nanodroid Backup (Big error...)
I haven't been successful in getting S-OFF neither with Rumrunner nor firewater, I kind of disappointed, and maybe I'm taking the lazy way. I want to go back to stock so I can get future OTA updates. So... I don't care much about the Relock flag or anything, just the OTAs,
Can I just use a RUU and flash it right away? So get a fresh rom, unroot, and stock recovery? Or what can I do? I don't want to brick my device.
I see that in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2428276 there is the KitKat Rogers RUU, can I use this even if I'm S-ON?
Thanks for your help...

With S-ON, you can flash a ruu if its the same version or higher than what you have on the device, so yes, you can use the 4.19.631.9 ruu. You must also have a locked/relocked bootloader to use a ruu with S-ON.
