Hi guys, need some clarification please
Have had my M7 for a few weeks now. I unlocked the bootloader and 'perm rooted' using the toolkit. It still has the stock rom on it.
I am trying to remove the root but I have read conflicting information.
1. I have managed to relock the bootloader (shows RELOCKED and TAMPERED) so does this mean I cannot put a stock ROM back on to unroot it? Do I need to unlock it, put on stock ROM and then relock it?
2. I looked at Mike1986's stock ROM but it has issues with installing paid apps. So, is there any other ROM I can use to return to stock?
I think that's why people don't like unlocking because you can't get rid relocked
I don't mind the fact that it says 'relocked' (have unlocked it again) but want to remove root if possible

You will have superuser on your phone in the settings it will say unroot after that uninstall superuser all done
I guess it's an issue of warranty. If it says 'Relocked', is it still void? I didn't know this to be an issue until I saw it, guess I was spoiled with the Gnex lines.

Tried that - pressed unroot, it closed and removed the app but it is still rooted
You sure you will still be unlocked get a root checker app and see
I am also facing the same problem. Tried the uninstall on supersu but after rebooting the phone, supersu is still there.

Yep, Tibackup and LP still have root access and SuperSU is back on reboot
Has anyone done this yet? Guide?
Unlock bootloader, flash twrp, reboot from bootloader to twrp, reboot system from twrp, when prompted swipe to root. Enjoy
Sent from my Moto X.
Wolf, might be worth mentioning if you unlock the bootloader your warranty is out the window. As of today there are no root exploits that work if you have the latest updates from Motorola so unlocking is the only way to go. Dev Edition phones have been shipping with the latest updates already installed so unless you were one of the first it's probably already patched.
I get this error when trying to unlock my bootloader. I have c6903 and rooted it before moving up to 4.3. I then unlocked my bootloader on 4.3 (or I think I did). However, when I try to install supersu it says my phone is not rooted. However, when I try to unlock my bootloader I get the message "error phone is already rooted". I attached a screenshot below. Does this mean my phone bootloader is unlocked and my phone is properly rooted to then install a recovery? I want to ultimately install ihackers rom but want to be sure I have everything ready for a proper install.
Thanks

I'm not sure why it says "rooted" in fastboot, but the commands you're sending are to unlock the bootloader, not root the phone. Your bootloader must already be unlocked, per the error you see. I hope you backed up your TA partition before BL unlocking.
Check out the Root on 4.3 dev discussion for more details on a 4.3 root (which is only possible with an unlocked BL currently).
Just try to use Flashtool to unlock the bootloader.
With unlocked boot loader and rooted mobile can I get update through OTA, Wthout re locking boot-loader and unrooting the mobile..?
Edit: whoops I thought this was the 2014 forum. My bad, I'm not sure how to delete, but will when I figure out.
I'm just trying to get stock Marshmallow on my ATT xt1097. Used kingroot for temp root, and sunshine SUPPOSEDLY unlocked my bootloader. During the "process", Sunshine erased itself from my phone and I had to manually reboot my phone. I got the message before boot that my bootloader WAS unlocked. But root is gone, and kingroot will not give me a permanent root.
Do I need root to flash the stock ROM? If so, is there a way to do this from my phone? I don't have access to a computer at the moment.
