Hello, a couple months ago i bought this wonderful phone, i used it for some time and is the first cellphone that i really liked from day 0, i also have a Nokia N900, wich is an amazing machine, quite deprecated even with it's 32GB of internal storage and wonderful 5Mpix camera but this one took me some months to stop not wanting to throw it to the wall.
The Samsung galaxy Ace 2 i think is also a bit crappy compared with the LG 2x if we let battery life on a side. (3~4 days) And took me about 3 or 4 months plus several rom flashings to get it to work correctly and not annoy me with odd behavior..
Sadly a friend of mine lost his phone and as he liked the LG, really diskiiked the N900 and the Ace 2 was working really really bad i gave him this wonder of technology.
After about a month he bought another one for his wife, so now they both have an LG 2x and i am stuck with the Galaxy and a Nokia N900 photo/video camera.
I have not bought again an LG 2x because of this two issues that i think are really really important.
If i can't use HDMI, i really don't care to have the 1080p video recording capability, and if the bluetooth is not working i'm really not interested in go out listening music with a hanging cable around my neck and body.
So, i really like the idea to have EVERYTHING on one place and leave the Galaxy and the N900 inside a drawer at home.
I know if i stick to ICS i could get all working, but i'm now used to 4.2 and would'nt like to go back...
I know that these two things must be very complicated to fix, otherwise, someone would figure it out already.
But my question is... ¿Is there any chance that somewhere in time someone could fix this?
What's needed to fix them?
My dear friend
I fully appreciate your point....infact everyone does....everyone agrees that we should have everything for what we pay for
But just a small thing....you are not a newbie here...Have seen you have a reasonable number of posts....please ask the moderators to shift this to a relevant section.
I am sure we will get to the points which you are concerned about in the near future....until then we have to wait
Thanks

Hi there,
I'm not quite sure, for HDMI , developers are unable to fix it without something that's from nvidia,
For Bluetooth, I heard it is ..forgot what it is called, toolchain? The newer ones cause Bluetooth not working correctly on our o2x, need a lot of work to fix it. Our o2x is too old for now.

About HDMI... you can use ICS stock to have the HDMI rotation or you can use Ultimate app rotation to force the rotation screen on your device.
Bluetooth.. like others devices after the change by google from BleuZ stack to bluedroid a lots of problems have been found.
If you need bluetooth and HDMI use ICS rom

So yeah. title says it all. i got my hands on O2X and i kept it. but i also found a used SGS2 and i decided to keep it. try them both. and sell the one that i dont like. and i decided to sell the SGS2 . which i did and made a 100$ profit. but to that later.
the build quality :
without a question. the O2X had a much solid feel in your hand. heavier. felt like an expensive phone. the SGS2 is very light,. all platicy it feels like a toy not an expensive phone
Screen :
i loved them both. the super amoled plus is stunning. a joy to watch movies in it. the 4.3 is abit big for my taste. so it made the phone bigger. on the other hand i love the IPS display on the O2X. kinda remind me of the iphone 4 one. which is a good thing. both screens had good response. both screens had problems. banding/ grid pattern on low brightnesss with dark gray backfround on SGS2 and light leakege on top of the screen from both sides on my O2X.
Software/ Hardware :
this was the deal breaker for me. the SGS2 is super smooth. but thats as far as it goes. 60% of the good high end games cant be played on SGS2. and they need a software update. the Mali 400/ Oxynos whatever its called doesnt support the same format structure and texture all the other phones do " Nexus S, Galaxy S, Adrinao 205 whatever " so i found my self most of the new Gameloft games doesnt work at all.
they need a software update. and whatever this happens or not, its up to developers. hell even games like run ninja doesnt run very smooth.
Emulators. the N64, the PSX emulators. all run better on Tegra 2. not much of difference. but you can see the difference easly.
the GPU " as of now " lacks alot in the SGS2.
plus. i really love what Nvidia is doing with Tegra zone games. to get those awesome looking games is something very nice. with the SGS2, i found my self playing SGS1 games. that if they were able to run in the first place.
please note. i am not saying the SGS 2 is bad device. i am saying that as of now, the Tegra 2 devices are better " read : Atrix/ O2X "
and i think i will skip the SGS2 till they release the Tegra 2 SGS2. then i will consider switching.
but if you are a gamer like me, dont even think of doing it.
Not possible, the SGS2 is the best phone in the world and touched by the hand of God.
All those games that won't load up are just scared because of the awesome speed of mali.
tegra 2, wtf is that, that's ancient technology, good for a table coaster.

im sure my viewpoint would be the same as the OP if my O2X actually worked. The phone was nice but I cant be proud of a phone that randomly decides when it wants to reboot or freeze. I really had high hopes for the O2X and may consider switching back if LG gets off its butt and addresses/fixes the problems.
For the money that either phone costs they should just work.

i have lg2x for about 2-3 weeks and mine never rebooted even once!!!maybe you are unlucky about reboots..i had iphone 4 and i had all the times reboot..maybe 15-20 reboots per day!now i dont have even one reboot with lg2x!my opinion is to give to the repair service of LG and tell them to replace it with a new one!
as for the sgs2 i had it for 2 days and hmmm...lg2x gaming and web browsing is faster than sgs2...!!that is enough for me and guess what??
LG2X has still 2.2.2 stock rom and 1 ghz
SGS2 has 2.3.3 1.2ghz
wait for the official gingerbread for lg2x and see the smoothness and speed!

thing is Im in afghanistan and cant afford to take another chance that LG will repaor the phone. Im sure you have seen the threads of the wide spread issues with the O2X. I think maybe you are the lucky one to have a phone with no reboots/freezes as it seems the majority have problems with the O2X.
I did like the phone a lot but because of my location and the how long the shipping time is from the US to the military bases here. I just cant take a gamble. In my mind a 600.00 phone should work the first time.

I'm in love with my o2x also, without backlight bleeding and more ram it would be perfect. Also a different cover on the back would be nice.
Also i must say i had no reboots and freezes. But the screen has some response issues sometimes.

For more RAM, there is a kernel that frees up 64mb so you will have around 430, not 360 or so. It's still in development, dev made some errors and he will fix them today (probably).
I used Samsung before and i don't really like their support because they launch the phone then leave you to die, so now i am using LG2x and i like their support so far, besides, the tegra chip is damn nice for games.

i have the exact issue with the backlight bleeding but i am living with it. i figured if i decided to keep the phone for very long time, i can just order a screen. it costs like 50$ for the OEM version too. which is not expensive.

Topic about the 2x and the sgs2. It's of course in the sgs2 section
I still love my 2x, got no problems with it. LG is also working on the updates and gingerbread is also coming(hope the fix for people that got reboot problems really works). CM and Paul are also doing a great job, i still believe this phone rocks
so i was given a tab for fathers dad and the wife went to BB and they talked her into paying full price for a tab i think it was like 400+. it was what i wanted (a tab at least) so i played with it for a while but took it back because i felt she spent to much. while i had it though it was a bit sluggish on its performance and did freeze and the browser did crash a few times randomly.
so after i had it i knew i really wanted a tab so i began my search and for my use of one just to waste time on the net and send emails and maybe watch some youtube i just needed a cheap no high end tab. well i was going to buy the nook color and root it and call it a day but 249.00 was still a little high. so i came across an amazing deal and got 2 tabs for less then 300.00 so with that said i have a few questions
1. is there an app or do i have to root then get an app to correct the sluggish issues??
2. my tabs say verizon on the back is this a good or bad thing. just talking random people on the streets i hear that because of the carrier im restricted in certain capacities??
3.ive seen u can over clock these but its only by .2 is it worth it??
4. is upgrading to honeycomb gonna be worth it ?? like is there a performance benefit for this or is it just cosmetic
5. my wife does online classes with phoenix she says she needs to be able to write and save papers as word 97 format. will she be able to do this on the tab??
very excited to start playing with my tab thanks in advance guys
As far as a app to fix the sluggishness, its not one app fixes all, its a combination of alot of things, search the forums, see what people are doing. As far as verizin on the back. That just means that you can only hook them up tgrough a cdma network and at that price they may very well have bad esn's, which if they do, there's a high chance that they are stolen. Not trying to give a don't buy used speach. It just means that they will never work on verizon.

Honey comb will not come out for these devices. They use the phone version of the new software which is gingerbread and yes that is already starting to roll out in italy.
As far as a .2 over clock, it really depends on what you are doing. Some people say yes over clock some say no. Once again just browse the forjms and see what people say. Doesn't have to necessarily be just the tab. See what peoples results are with any device, that should give you a pretty good idea.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA Premium App
One more thing. As far as gingerbread, it does do something for performace. Don't quote me on this but I belive I read somewhere thay samsung was improving the video drivers for the hummingbird chipset so we may see better graphics after the update.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA Premium App
Having a CDMA tablet also limits you to the Roms you can use. Make sure, if you decide to upgrade firmware, that it is a CDMA rom you are flashing as the GSM roms will probably brick your device...
Ok so from the responses I need to make sure I use CDMA roms and not gsm. What is the difference?? Also I need to make sure I run gingerbread?? Not sure what that means but I guess I have some homework to do. Lol. Also I'm not going to be using these on the 3G networks just wifi. If they did have broken cs..somthings that was said above will that effect the wifi??
Hey whats up guys, I have a Galaxy Tab on the way from sprint.
It's my first actual official Android Device (Had a T-Mo MDA, Sprint Mogul, TP1, and TP2). I have a Touch pro 2 that I was able to put Froyo 2.2 on... But that device became too tedious and I felt it was way behind compared to most Android Devices.
So I have a couple of days between now and when I receive it.
I was doing some browsing on the capabilities but I'm 100% sure I haven't seen all of what can be done.
So I figured that everyone can chime in as to what capabilities this thing has, and other members can be informed of what their device is capable of that they didn't even know.
Rooted, and Unrooted.
I think this can help everyone being that it's all condensed in this thread.
Thanks guys

I was, at first, a Tablet hater. Not sure what possessed me to get the Tab, I think I wanted to see what the hype was about.
I honestly, don't use my laptop much anymore. It's become such an effort to turn it on, and browse the web, when my tab is near instant. 3G is a must. Its what's made it so useful. Its just a fantastic device. Games are amazing on the 7" screen, browsing is a delight (I use Dolphin HD) and its just so portable. It'll fit into some jean pockets and most back pockets of any trousers.
I would buy a 2nd version of a Tab instantly.

Does anyone know if the dock support mirroring now that we're on honeycomb? I know it didn't prior to the upgrade. I'd love to know. If not, what does it support, and would it be possible for any developer to write a video driver that would at least allow switching to hdmi (I have a broken screen, but still use my streak a lot with bluetooth keyboard/mouse).
51 views and no replies? Does anyone have the HDMI dock? It appears that the net has not 1 single review of the HDMI dock after the recent OS upgrade.

I'm using honeystreak r8 and just got a dock and get nothing? It charges and triggers "dock mode" my monitor has input sense & see something at the end of the cable (tried 2 different ones does this need a "data hdmi"?) but no hdmi from any app (stage. cam. various vid players, no dell sync) no usb, not even a failed usb install, any ideas on how to fix this?
I am running the same (r8). My docks hdmi works fine. Perhaps trying another TV or monitor will work. I use 2 different tv's and cables and I have not had that issue.

It just connects, there is no toast message or such.

Dude.... this device never had source code released and the strives that have been made in development are incredible considering the low number of knowledgeable people doing all the work from scratch.
I suggest you go buy a newer device with a wider range of development. Otherwise try to contribute to the streak development rather than complain that you can't find a perfect fit for your needs.
Stick withhoneycomb if you can't cope with certain variables and bugs. My dock worked on honeycomb for charging and hdmi output.
I don't mean to sound like a dyck, but you don't realize how you sound expecting everything to work perfectly and I have been following the progress of the development and offering help where I can from using and providing user feedback. It's not like I have made any type of major contribution, but I know the geniuses toiling over code for hours on end to resolve issues and bugs and sharing their work for the benefit of us don't appreciate comments that come across as whining or being ungrateful.... just try to hear yourself, my 2 cents
Giveens work can be found here and on tabletroms.com
Good luck

Dude, relax
You say you are running honeystreak, which has been dead for quite a while and had its set of quirks. It is a custom ROM. You are wanting everything to work? = you want stock!!!
Go rock honeycomb. You own a device that officially lost support from the manufacturer in 2011. End of story.
You could even go back to froyo and have a "fully functioning ROM". Read some stuff, then read more. And start off with the XDA rules... learn the appropriate place to ask your question (this thread is not relevant to development and/or particular to an actively developed ROM)

Why don't you donate it to a hardworking dev? I'm sure they could do something useful with the second phone.
The good first gen single core phones are starting to go off plan and turn up second hand. I picked up a Galaxy S Epic Sprint (the one with slider keyboard) last week at my favorite pawnshop for $60 mint, to mess with and use as a mini tablet. Apparently either the prior owner didn't deactivate it, or with Sprint (no sim card) once activated the phone works fine on wifi. First did factory reset, then rooted, now everything including GPS seems to work (other than the phone and cel data of course, at some point I'll install a Google Voice solution).
I'm using it as a middle of the night reader with a screen dimmer app. My wife has been bothered by the bigger screen lighting of the NC, so something smaller helps. Its a pretty good ereader/podcast player for this purpose. Lots of reader/news apps seem optimized for its WVGA screen, some have night mode. And I put a couple of games on it for the kids to use in the car instead of giving them my real phone.
Now I need to figure out something to do with the slider keyboard. Thinking maybe a remote keyboard app for the PC, anybody recommend an android app that will convert a slider keyboard to a remote computer keyboard through a network?
Hi,
Make a crach test movie
Regards,
I'd say put it away somewhere safe in case something happens to the S3 and you need a backup phone. That's what I'm planning to do with mine. My Galaxy S will be a backup and would be the one I would take on long hikes cause I won't be too bothered if I drop it, although I've kept it in mint condition.

Slaphead20 and skills have good suggestions.
Otherwise, I'd always planned that whenever I upgrade, I'd likely keep it for its amazing audio quality from its Wolfson DAC and Voodoo Sound; it's hands down the best portable music player I've owned. Plus, there was a good article on Lifehacker a ways back about people keeping older smartphones and iPod Touches with Skype on it to use as a 'house phone'.

You could send it to me lol I need a testing device but I'd say use for holidays and you don't want to risk the s3
