[Q] Motorola Device Manager Problem - Moto X Q&A

Has anyone run into problems with the Motorola Device Manager utility not recognizing the Moto X? I'm trying to RSD Lite back to stock so that I can install the OTAs but Moto Manager fails to update itself. I know that my computer can see the X as I was able to run ADB. However, every time I try to run Moto Manager I get a message that says "There are no updates for your device at this time. Current Version N/A"
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the device manager but it refuses to detect my phone. I've also toggled USB debugging on and off but it does not appear to be making a difference. My phone is a CDMA Dev Edition running mostly stock with a few Xposed modules.
Has anyone experience anything like this or know of any way to fix this issue?
-------Edited---------
I have resolved my issue. RSD Lite was useless and I was unable to get it working. I eventually used mfastboot to flash the stock img provided by Motorola. Everything works great now.

Oh. then nevermind. There was another person on here who had a similar problem and it was fixed by going back to win8.

Yeah, I saw that.
I was looking through the XDA guide on returning to stock, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2446515 and it looks like the reason why RSD Lite won't recognize the device is somehow related to the drivers that Moto Manager is responsible for. It seems like the other person didn't have the Moto Manager issue that I'm having (does not even recognize the device).

Does any one have any ideas or recommendations for what I should do to try and fix this problem?

I've attached a picture of the Motorola Device Manager update dialogue. As you can see, it says that the current version is N/A which I believe is causing the problem. The RSD Lite picture shows how the device is not being recognized despite being put into fastboot and connected to the laptop.

I didn't use Motorola device manager to rsd lite to stock, I just put my phone in fastboot Mode opened a cmd windo2 in adb, plugged my phone in using the USB cord and started rsd lite, you should see phone connected in the rsd lite window

I tried doing this. Still doesn't get recognized in RSD Lite. USB Debugging is enabled and RSD Lite is the newest version but I still can't figure this out. Is there any way to get the newest Moto X drivers without going through the Motorola Device Manager application?
And just to reiterate, my phone does show up on my computer so the USB cable is working.

yes you can get the newest drivers without going through device manager. Don't know where but i see people post links to them so just search the internet. Another possible problem you might be having, is the phone connected via ptp or mtp. Moto device manager doesn't work when connected as ptp. Just pull down your notification bar and it will show you how it is connected. If it is ptp, change it to mtp. Then run moto device manager.

you guys on Win8/8.1, have you tried running Windows Virtual PC to trick MDM into working?

Cant connect to RSDlite with my droid x
Here is the story.
I could really use some help here. I had originally rooted my droid x and then tried moving the bin to xbin to keep root. But being that i am really new to this i did not know you couldn't update to 2.2 if you had anything custom installed. so i SBF flashed my phone to stock.. left root off, then updated. Being dumb i tried using the root program for 2.1 on my 2.2. says its rooted fine.. it didn't.. no big deal i hope. i don't know if this has any affect as to why this issue is happening but i figured its worth mentioning. Anyways... so now i want to downgrade from 2.2 to 2.1 so i can root and move the bin file properly but i cant. Every time i try to connect to my computer in PC mode, it fails to load/install the driver for my X. my computer recognizes that its the MB810 but fails... so i cannot connect properly to RSDlite in order to perform the flash.. i have tried connecting in all modes media sync... charge only.. PC mode.. etc.. and yes USB debugging is enabled.. i have been trying to figure this out for a couple days now and I'm going crazy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
BTW i am using windows 7 64bit
UPDATE:
I now have the drivers installed and the phone connects properly to my computer, not sure if i am connecting properly to RSDlite but it still will not allow me to flash the sbf. the sbf i am using is the phoxus -the gift- for the life of me i cannot figure out why it will not let me flash. i open RSD..select my sbf.. connect my phone.. and the start button will not light up.

I would delete the drivers and install the Motorola driver that you can get at Motorola. I have 2.2 which is running great but I still had to reinstall the drivers see that my PC could See my DX.
Before you can do anything your PC has to See your DX with no issues.
Hope this helps

Switch the mode of the device when pluggied in and the drviers should load fine. That said change it from PC mode to Windows Sync Mode and you should be good to go.
Follow this to get your computer to recognize your DX running Froyo, you need new drivers.
1. USB Mass Storage without Development Mode on.
2. MotoConnect will prompt; Install.
3. PC Mode with Development Mode on.
4. ADB activate again on leaked Froyo.
Thanks for all the quick replies. I really appreciate it. I will try all of this when I get home. Thanks again. I'll keep you posted.

I could do everything except "mass storage" on win 7 x64. I finally had to reinstall windows to get it working again. Hope you have better luck.

no sorry, i just did the downgrade and had no problems.
well as it turns out.. somehow i got it working, but i dont know how.. but i did. so yea. i guess installing a new copy of windows seemed to do the trick. I hope this thead can help others also. GOOD LUCK and thank you all for helping me out.
You can also go to ubuntu and get a copy of linux for free, burn it to disc, then boot into linux from the disc. No install needed. Once in, use SFB_Flash (google it) to flash the SFB file...P3Droid and Birdman both recommed this vs the RSDlite.

[Q] RSD Lite Won't Detect

Okay so I am having a little problem.
My phone when I boot it goes to a black screen after the safe system message becasue I didn't ever install a ROM on my safe system.
So I was going to go into RSD Lite to flash back or whatever, but my phone isn't detected.
- I have the newest Moto drivers, I've uninstalled fully and reinstalled
- I have the newest RSD Lite
- I have the original Bionic/Motorola Data Cable
- I can get into recovery/fastboot
- When I just plug my phone in while off, I see the little white LED
Any ideas?
My battery is about ~20% full, because when It was at 0% I couldn't get into recovery so I took it to a Verizon store and a lady there had a Bionic and she charged my battery for me. That's the only thing I can think of is that the battery has to be even higher like ~70% or fuller.
Thanks ahead of time

RSD Lite will only see my phone if I use the original cable that came with the phone.

It has a M on the cable. It wasn't the one that came with my phone exactly but I got it from the Verizon store not a charging cable a Motorola Data cable. So IDK.

Did you upgrade your windows OS recently? I've had a lot of driver issues since I've upgraded and haven't been able to figure out the solution other than reinstalling the drivers a few times. At one point I even needed to go into device manager to switch the adb driver to the moto fast boot driver.

Nope but I've built a new computer that should be up and running tomorrow, will be dual booting W7 and W8 so I can try on both of those and get back to you.
Make sure you get the motorola usb driver package that has version 5.9.0. That needs to be installed as well as the other motorola drivers.
Good luck

Thanks, do you have a link for that and the others? Just to make sure I'm installing the right things?
It still does not work..

RSD Lite doesnt see device, fastboot does.

Hey guys, trying to bring my ATT Moto X running 4.4. back to stock. However it seems RDS Lite doesnt see the device. When I check fastboot devices it shows up just fine. But nothing in RDS.
Running Win 8.1
Tried uninstalling and re-installing drivers, reboots, different usb ports. Not sure what to try next, any ideas?

Use win 8. Fastboot doesn't work for me on win8.1. I'm assuming why thats why that RDS isn't working for you. I would give it a shot.
use mfastboot or use fastboot in compatibility mode
MAKE sure phone is in USB Debug mode!
Was able to get RSD lite to see the device and flashed back to stock. I ended up needing to use a VM running windows 8 and not 8.1
Thanks guys!

[Q]ADB/Device Manager Issues, help please!

Hello all, first time poster, but I have been lurking for a few days absorbing what I can. I just recently got my first Android phone, the Droid Turbo. So far I love it. I am trying to use the awesome Debloater tool I found elsewhere, but I have a problem. When ever I connect my Droid Turbo to a computer in my house (desktop or laptop), I get an error in device manager. Neither the standard Google ADB driver, or the Universal ADB drivers seem to be working. I am not stupid when it comes to computers, but am I missing something? I have uninstalled, restarted and reinstalled both drivers a few times, I even tried using the SDK to install Google's drivers as well. USB debugging is turned on. I can't seem to find any USB drivers for the Droid Turbo at the Motorola site listed with Google. The phone is new, running 4.4.4 KitKat. I am running Windows 7 x64 on my PC, a fairly fresh install. I'm really at a loss to figure out what is going on, any help or a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated . I have already searched most of the relevant information and videos on this sight, but perhaps I missed something.
Please keep up the good work! My phone is just begging for a root/unlocked bootloader with a clean Android install, But I will settle for no bloatware for now.
I was going to include a screenshot of what I see with my phone plugged in, but I don't have enough posts yet. None of the options of "Update Driver" result in it working, its as if it sees my Droid Turbo there, but I just don't have correct the drivers for it, and I cant find the right ones.

Having issues with Moto G (XT1072) connecting to pc after flashing lineageos

Hi! Yesterday I installed LineageOs (XT1072 - thea) on my pc and I currently cannot get the phone to show up on pc when connected, it appears that a Moto G 2014 LTE is connected but It doesn't shows on the device list, it says it has some error the driver installed but I have uninstalled a couple times and I cannot get it to work. Maybe it's some issue with the software?
I'm using Windows 10 btw, and I also rooted the phone. Thanks!

Install Motorola device manager, you checked MTP mode inside notifications after connecting the phone on pc ? if you don't, you can only recharge the phone.
