Hey, I have Galaxy Ace GT-S5830 and tried a lof of roms what was suspose to give "best performance".
I'm looking for ROM without any unnecessary widgets such like weather or other. I wanna basic ROM with excelent performance so I could use smoothly SwiftKey 4, facebook messenger and play music. So far CM 7.1 touchviz v5 was great but something happend and it just slowed down.
Do you know any ROM what can meet my expectations?
Please answer.
I had such as:
- Galaxy S2 ROM
- CM 10.1/7.1/9.2
- JB 4.2
- Apocalypse
- ICE Cream
- KitKat
- Pacman
and few others which I can't remember.
You can try SpaceCaker's AOSP 2.3.7. Very fast but data and mass storage connection to PC not working. Give it a try though

The fastest roms for ace are on GB base. Cm9 & 10 are much slower. Maybe you want to try out The Ultimatum from The A Factor. Great rom and great performance (CM7).
Btw, you surely didn't tried out KitKat on our ace

My bad, It wasn't KitKat, just mistaken it with PacMan and wrote it down with others, actually I'm on CM 7.2 Blackhawk Kernel as you suggested, works fine as far I can see but probably will change it in few days, don't know why CM's slow down after few days, maybe there's a solution to keep them in good condition with CWM?

In my opinion, stock GB ROMs are the fastest. CM7.2 is pretty fast as well. Any GB ROM with the right kernel should do
Also, please refrain from making such theads. While it may be a bit different, this is essentially a "Best rom" thread, which are against the rules.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1176927
its the best in my opinion for your criteria. though based on GB 2.3.6, it has lot of added features and works almost completely hassle free.
i have tried most versions of MIUI, CM 7/9/10 and chockobread.
Now, people will have different opinions based on their experience. So I'd recommend to try out the ROM after reading the comments in the respective thread, which suits your needs.

No ROM is perfect, if the ROM only have 1 bug, i would call it perfect. Search ROM that match with your criteria. If you want Super battery life, try Stock based Custom ROM, if you want a heavy modification try up CM7 based, if you want latest updates of your Mini try CM10 or AOKP JB Build.
If you already tried all of them, then... buy a new phone

Actually we have a newcomer for stable rom, the new cm7 by Mebitek, this guy is [email protected] Except for the classic cm7 notification bar (which i personally dont like the appearance), the rom is absolutely fabulous, a must try.

I used to have stock Gingerbread on my SGS I9000. Then I switched to DarkyROM ICS, which was okay. After a while I came across the SlimRoms website, which was still developing Slim ICS at the time, so I flashed ICS, which was brilliant. Shortly after the Slim team started working on SlimBean, and after reaching a stable version I tried it for myself, a decision I am glad I made.
SlimBean is by far the lightest, fastest ROM I've used so far. Give it a try for yourself and you'll see how amazing, lag-free it is. I'm using version 3.1 with the Semaphore kernel version 2.6.2s.
Hi,
I've flashed many roms on my i9000 : Miui, cyanogen 7, Cyanogen 9, Jelly Bean, ICs..... but for me the best one is the JW8 SAUROM.
Stable, fast, GS3 Theme and a very good battery life !!
Since i am on this rom i don't want to flash another one !
Slim 3.1 with semaphore 2.6
If someone help me i definitely HIT THANKS....
Your question must be more specific, and I'll try to explain...
In my opininon the are only 2 developers team which should be considered, first CyanogeneMod which leads because of it's bigger number of devs (so more supported devices). 2nd is AOKP, which I personally prefer because it's more designale and more good looking, but also very stable. I've tested hardly both, but 5th build from AOKP has best battery life, so I'm never going back to CM, only for new tests, making new statistics etc.
Hope I helped, greetings

But not alll stock rom 2.3.x can be flash with semaphore.. and not all i9000 can be flash with the same s/rom. But still semaphore 2.7.4 is the best way to get cwm. If flashi v semaphore causing boot failure, try to flash with other s/rom and re-flash semaphore.

The idea of two developers was what I was thinking as well when I was making a decision either to stay on stock 2.3.6 or flash something new. CM9 is more "readable" for me in terms of numbering and Stable/Nightly/Experimental. Even tough I do not understand how come there is a stable version followed by nightly builds.
When watching some videos and screens of AOKP I felt it might be even better but I got confused in the numbering (which of the builds is the most stable as I need a working phone not a phone to be flashed twice a week).
For me the best ROM is SlimBean with Semaphore Kernel!:good:

C-Rom Mix V9 here - it's a near perfect ROM. Stable, everything is where it supposed to be. Very smooth operating. My last phone - XPERIA ARC S was destroyed (and its hardware is superior to that of i9000) - Galaxy - being slower by half is faster when speaking about this system operation. There are some hiccups with number recognition sometimes (like 1/10 phone calls and only till i pick up - so no showstopper for sure ). The camera is limited to just basic functions - but is working perfectly fine. The calendar is more basic than in ICS modded ROM for ARC S. The battery last for a day or less - but here i cannot say if the battery in my phone is just old or is this ROM (i got the phone used and the battery is 2,5 yo). And these are my only complaints - not much I have MUUUUUUUCH more complaints on every other stock/modded rom for Galaxy & ARC S
It's my daily ROM more than a week now.

Sorry I know u ask for JB, but have you tried Democrazy CM7 ? Is pretty good.
Now I throw a question? Why would you use CM10 that is a lot heavier than CM7 which doesnt let much space to install things in it?
What is the point of having latest but super limited phone?
Is there something that I am missing?

I have a newbie friend with a GT-S5830 Galaxy Ace on stock 2.3.5. I want to upgrade her to the newest ROM available but I know that her phone is old and I don't want to put a 4.2.2 ROM on it that will make it slow/unusable.
Can someone here please advise the best combination of ROM, tweaks/mods that will give her the latest software but also keep her phone speedy and responsive? Nothing too crazy please- she is not at all tech-savvy, and she will only change her software this one time.
She does not use her phone for music. Just surfing the web, apps like Whatsapp, Maps/Navigation, browser (Chrome or will it be too slow?), etc...
Chrome won't work

Hi,
First of all, Chrome won't work on our Galaxy Ace, as it's a arm v6 device (which is not supported by google). Then for the ROM issue, I recommend you to install the Jelly Bean ROM from Marcin (maclaw). It's speedy, responsive and it supports overclocking if you install an app for it (I have it on my phone, has been great so far). Games work as fast as on the stock ROM. For the browser, I recommend you to use the stock Jelly Bean one or Opera browser.
Any further questions? Just ask. :good:
Hit thanks if I helped you.

Hi- a couple concerns. This is for a girl who is visiting from Australia who is not tech-savvy at all. Once I upgrade her phone, she will have no idea how to do it again. So it is extremely important that it be hassle-free and maintenance-free.
Maclaw has several ROMS: CyanogenMod 10.1 and AOSP. Which one are you referring to? I was reading that the AOSP one was slow- is that true? And what do you mean by "supports overclocking"? Do I have to install a new kernel or mod to set this up? Won't overclocking kill the battery?
So what exactly is the best combination of ROM/tweaks/mods that you suggest? Can you provide links as well?
Thanks again!

You just have to root the phone first, and then flash the ROM via cwm (the kernel is installed with the ROM). About what version to use, I'm using CM10.1 20130513 for three days now and it has been pretty fast for me. I always tend to use CM ROMS, as they're usually faster than the AOSP roms on the ACE (they're optimised for the phone, unlike the AOSP ROMS). Overclocking is not necessary, but it's useful if you're playing games.
So my hint it, just install the ROM i've mentioned without tweaks/mods. If anyone here knows some useful mods, please add them.
Site to get the rom: maclaw.pl/downloads/ (It's the top one).

hello, I'm sure everyone will have their opinion on a good rom (there is no "best" rom), from the several I tried, the more clean and free of problems, to which I return whenever in the period between ROMs is the one of themythteam (LastMyth).
Its simplicity is beautiful :good:
Cm10.1 or Jellybean 4.2.2 isn't fully stable yet. Go for AOSP ICS or some other cm9 rom

OK!!! Even in CM.10.1 i got problems with the stock browser.. and some videos cant play there... like wmv or compresed mp4. Why argues about the new 10.2 when even the old one needs upgrades. Can someone tell me what is the deference between this two roms.. for me it is just a number.
...i use GT-i9305 btw
and can someone offer me a good "composition" for LTE.. like rom, kernel... and stuff.

10.1 is 4.2.2 and 10.2 is 4.3,
There is no "best" rom its preference, i use ParanoidAndroid and Yank555 kernal if thats any help.
Theres a thread in the development area about what roms/kernals etc are out, so it offers quick links and you can pick which you want.

Try flashing Liquid smooth rom. It's based on CM 10.1 and I've been using it for several weeks but haven't found even a single bug yet. Everything's perfect with a lot of customization options.
10.1 has been around a lot longer so if you want a more bug free and stable experience I would go with that. If you just like playing with new things go with 10.2
