I´m just wonderinf if my set up is correcto or it's just not working.
After de .257 update, about 4 weeks ago, I've noticed that sometimes I have to manually change the display settings, remove the checke in "adapt to lighting conditions", otherwise it won´t change the brightness when I walk out of a biulding to the sun. And before the update I didný have the issue.
Has anybody has this happened to you? Or maybe my configuration is wrong? I don´t use the stamina mode, because I get plenty of battery for the day,
Also, does anybody know if using the phone for video, radio o anything else while charging on the dock, will affect battery life?
Thanks for the support...

I have been having some issues with the torch/flashlight LED programs recently. I didn't used to have problems and prior to this when I used the HTC torch it had the same problem. When I used older versions of MIUI I didn't have this problem with flashlight apps that I had. But now with the most recent versions (since December or so I think when they added the torch button in the notification bar) I am having the problem again.
The problem when using a flashlight app (or the button in the notification bar) the light will turn on for about a second and then turn off. It will still show it off in the app or on the notification bar. If it does not do this it does one of 2 other things. It turns on and then after one second becomes brighter and then after about 1 more second turns off. On rare occasions in an app I can turn it on and it will stay on... but then when I try and turn it off there is usually a delay of a few seconds before it actually turns off. Then it is back to turning on for a second then off.
I had seen this same problem when I used the HTC Torch previously but it went away when using different ROMs and such so it makes me believe it is some kind of software problem. Seeing that the LED does seem to work and if I use the camera it seems to actually work properly with the program I am pretty sure there is nothing actually wrong with the hardware. Has anyone else seen this problem or know what could be causing it? Is there some way or some test program I could use to find what exactly is causing the problem? If someone has had this issue before... do they know how to fix it?
EDIT: I tried manually turning on the flashlight via "echo 1 > /sys/devices/platform/flashlight.0/leds/flashlight/brightness" and it turns the light on but then after about a second gets brighter then after another second turns off. When I did a "cat /sys/devices/platform/flashlight.0/leds/flashlight/brightness" it seems something changed it from the "1" which I wrote to the file to "127". Also, when I tried to "echo 0" to the file... the change did not stay. After doing the echo and then trying to cat the file it was still "127". I then tried to the torch app in the notification bar to turn it on and then off. After I turned it off via the application, I check the file and it was then set back to 0.
EDIT: I have witnessed the issue on 3 seperate Nexus One phones... surely someone else has had the same problem and possibly come up wit a solution.
you have to be careful with the flashlight apps esp with the high brightness setting. the LED is not designed to be on constantly on the nexus one and i have heard of people burning out their LED's from leaving it on too long both in normal and high brightness modes.
i have found out while using mine esp in high brightness if its left on too long it will overheat it and flicker. ever sense i seen mine do that i never use high brightness in fear of burning it out and when i use it in normal mode i try to keep its use as short as possible and i have not had it shut off on me sense. if yours is shutting off in normal mode then i'm afraid you may have already damaged it too much and that is why its turning itself off. thats my opinion anyways.
(if roms matter, i've always ran CM6 and now currently have been running CM7 nightlies and RC's

Well... I would expect... if the LED was "burned out" then it shouldn't turn on at all. The simple fact that it turns on at all means the LED isn't burnt out. Also, I would suspect that to be the case if I had not witnessed it happen on a brand new Nexus One (Old one of a friends was replaced because it was stolen). Her's had to go in for repair (turns out a cable inside the phone going to the camera was loose) and I had reverted it back to an original ROM. Once it was reverted the LED didn't have problem. Another thing that indicates to me that it is a software problem is I have seen the exact same thing before on previous versions... and it went away when changing to other ROMs. Tonight I am thinking I will wipe and flash CM7 and test it with a light app and make sure... if that has the same symptom I will flash to a shipped ROM and test it. I am pretty sure it is a software issue though. I just don't know... what... is causing the problem.
EDIT: I also forgot to mention... when it was working properly... I never witnessed it overheat and flicker though I never had it on for long periods of time. One last thing, I only saw the symptoms after a flash to a new version. When it was working properly it was always working properly. When it was acting like this on a ROM it always acted like this.
UPDATE: I did flash to CM7 nightly and the torch app works perfectly as do other apps on the market. After being back on CM7 and with the advent of the theming engine for it... I think I may just end up moving back to CM for daily use. I would like to know if anyone else has run into this issue still and/or has a solution just in case I run into the same issue later. For now I think I will just chalk it up as a kernel/ROM problem... though it doesn't explain why others didn't have the same issue =/.
Ive been having an issue with my WiFi randomly turning itself on. Ill turn it off to save battery, then check it 30-60 minutes later and its turned itself back on. Ive scanned through other threads and most people say that its from dock mode and to go into dock mode, then go to the settings and disable "auto connect to wifi". I dont have a dock and have never had it in dock mode, but I manually went into dock mode to check check the settings and I dont even have that option in the settings menu. I didnt seem to have the problem (or at least didnt notice it) until after I upgraded to ICS using the OTA update. Is there just a setting that Ive overlooked someplace where I can fix the problem, an app thats got permission to do it that I didnt know about, or is it just a bug thats baked into ICS? Btw, my phone is Locked, Stock, and Unrooted.
Noticed this yesterday on rumfloat4 as well

I have the same frustrating issue, locked and stock here, upgraded to ICS with the RUU. Sometimes it will stay off for several hours, sometimes not even an hour. I haven't been able to pinpoint which app is causing this.
I believe that it maybe an ICS issue.
I have done a complete factory reset on the phone three times, and network and wifi turn on at exactly midnight.
SO far spoken to HTC customer support.....lol
They advised me yo take back to retailer and let them examine it...wtf???
Regards
Paul
Check your Wi-Fi settings. Drop the drop bar and enable Wi-Fi connection then touch the bar next to the off-on switch. Touch the icon next to the home icon on the bottom of the phone and click on advanced. See the screen shots.
Hope this helps.

Too bad. I noticed mine came on the first night after I installed ICS. Took awhile to find the settings I posted. When I found the settings and clicked on the one in the picture I never noticed Wi-Fi come on on its own since.
I am curious how ICS determines "sleep". Is it phone sleep of human sleep? I also wonder if it is somewhat tied into automatic time settings. Say for instance you lose your signal during sleep, does ICS re-set the time and that triggers Wi-Fi turning on based on going setting the phone into a different time zone momentarily?
Just throwing a couple things out there in hopes it helps to solve the mystery.

I believe in later versions of GB, there was a distinct sleep setting that was separate from simply turning off the screen after a certain amount of time. As far as I can see, ICS did away with this and just sets the phone to sleep after a certain amount of time, which inherently turns off the screen.
Is this happening on new phones as well as refurbished ones? Whatever the problem is, its becoming annoying enough for me to return this phone and keep my Inspire.

Yep, GB did have sleep time settings. That's why I was curious as to how ICS determines sleep.
Look at the permissions on HTC Sync. They're pretty intrusive as far as Wi-Fi settings. It may be worthwhile to go into each app and trying to force stopping each one one at a time that changes the Wi-Fi state at will.

Something else you can try is to go into the usage counter and clear the data from the wi-fi tab. Don't use Wi-Fi for a period of time then check if there was any usage and if there was it would be listed which apps used the data and how much they used. Some apps even allow you to access the settings from there as well.
Juice Defender or similar apps should be able to keep it off when you want it off.
The Airplane Mode also should keep WiFi turned off (as well as data) as long as you don't need to take phone calls while you sleep. Not to mention, it saves on the battery if you're not charging at night.
if anyone still interest on this , i found the solution !
on ics you go to:
settings
WLAN
Advanced
WLAN frequency band
and uncheck the auto set radio to use only 2.4 or 5gh
thats all

Don't know if it's gonna make any difference but...have you connected the phone to the pc to check for updates?
The French version did not come with the last version, 350 I think.
just done a full phone reset and made no difference.
the phone says no other update is available, if I connect phone to PC I guess the same will be said

Hello,
I got my Xperia this monday, it came from Germany. With the notification led it happened just the same until I did a factory reset and then the led started working perfectly.
Hope this helps.
The LED works for me when getting whatsapp messages. I have not yet noticed if it lid up when I got an SMS/email. Will report back when I have more info.
I'm on that latest update which ends with .350
I am on 350 as well

Really? Doesn't make sense!
At least for phone calls and sms it should notify you...
Got the same thing here, also did a reset and I'm not in stamina.
Must be a setting or something that we're "missing".
Done a full phone reset 3 times and still no fix
I am gonna just throw this out here, cause I dont actually have the phone, but are light notifications activated within the apps of themselves by default?
in messaging in you go into setting there is options to tick or un tick LED notification but in my case it is ticked.
tried unticking reboot and then reticking and reboot but made no difference
I should be one of the bugs Docomo has fixed today on their version - notification led not notifying during sleep, there's no Extended Stamina Mode
I guess Sony will do the same for operator-free firmware really soon.
hopefully its very soon, its very annoying not knowing if a sms or a missed call has happened
I had the same problem, but 'fixed' it by installing Lightflow...
Hope they will bring update soon.
My led is not working either, is there a option in settings to enable it that I haven't come across?

Factory reset will fix everything.

so strange, I installed light flow and still nothing no notification nothing.
I cant be a broken LED because it lights up when charging the battery
Heya everyone. I have noticed a weird issue on my Xperia SP. The LED's are acting weird since a lot of days. At first I thought it must be a temporary issue but it doesnt seem to go away. So let me state the problem exactly -
Whenever I play music, take a call or browse pics, the LED's turn on as they should. But the intensity of light is random everytime. Sometimes it is so dim that I cant see it and sometimes bright enough as I need it. Even when I am playing the same song at different intervals the light intensity is different. This is very very weird and bugs me. Any suggestions on how can fix this?
Try a factory reset.. It may help you to fix it but notice that every thing will be deleted

[Q] Priority notification mode turning off on its own, even on "Indefinitely"?
The last few nights I've noticed that when I wake up, my phone is no longer in priority notification mode. At night, I set it to priority only and choose "indefinitely"...even verifying that it's on that setting by going back to it...and when I wake up, it's in normal mode.
I have no "Down Time" hours set and see no other settings that seem to imply turning it off automatically...
Anyone else have this issue?
Thanks!

Yes I'm having the same issue as you described. Noticed it 2 nights ago and thought I was disabling it in my sleep, lol.
Any work arounds? I'm thinking of doing a factory reset but not until I've exhausted all possible solutions. Hope this is an actual issue and not just 1 or 2 stray scenarios

Okay last night I uninstalled Light Flow which seemed to have been the problem causing this behavior. It seems to automatically want to disable priority mode but I don't know what exactly is triggering it, but uninstalling Light Flow seemed to have retained priority mode all night long with no issues upon waking up.
I also updated my review on the Play Store to address the issue, hoping for a fix soon. Hopefully you figure out your problem, mine was caused by a notifications app from what I've tested so far. Will see if it holds up tonight as well.

Having same issue, no additional notification apps installed. Stock android on nexus 6 no root or anything yet. Thought I was loosing my mind thinking I never set it. Happens almost every night. Seems like a bug.
I'm having the opposite. On boot, priority mode is enabled even though it was off on shutdown. I turn it off then throughout the day I notice it come on again. I haven't been able to track anything down yet. I don't use lightflow.
Are there any logs that I can see that might tell me what is turning it on? There are no Downtime schedules.

So I finally got tired of Light Blow being buggy on the Nexus 6 and uninstalled it a few days ago...two nights in a row I set priority to "indefinitely" and when I woke up I found it had been turned off...so I don't think it's Light Flow causing the problem.
