Nexus 4 Wifi Porblem Ubuntu Touch 13.10 - Ubuntu Touch Ports to Android

i just installed ubuntu touch and the wifi doesn't work. it is installed on my nexus 4. can anybody help me.

Wifi Problem in Ubuntu Touch (Trusty tahr) - 26 Nov 2013 build
I am currently dual booting ubuntu touch Trusty tahr and Kitkat(4.4) on my nexus 4...I had previously installed ubuntu touch trusty tahr build 22 nov 2013 and neither wifi nor the phone network was working.... They had an update on 26th Nov 2013 so i reflashed it now the network is working fine (though my 2G not working) but Wifi is still not in working condition.... Looks like they are correcting bugs one by one... hope to see my wifi working soon too...

The Wi-Fi isn't working because of some compatibility issues with MultiROM. If you install it as your primary ROM (don't, or you won't be able to dual-boot because the UT kernel doesn't have the kexec hardboot patch required for MultiROM), then Wi-Fi will work without problems.

I read that you need to flash the wifi radio from android 4.3. fastboot flash radio radio_adnroid_4.3.img
my problem is where to get this img file?

You can find stock images here: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images, just download the image required for your device, is a compressed file, uncompress and find the radio there...

Before messing with radio flashing ect just try calling wifi module I.e insmod dhd.ko
Other option is check your config. U can had the dual boot support I'm there and rebuild

Fix 'No SMS sending' problem when installing official CM ROM

A friend got the Motorola Droid 4 (maserati) and gave it to me to install a custom ROM on it, to get rid of the bloat on stock.
I installed the latest stable CyanogenMod on it (cm-10.2.1), but then the phone would not send any SMS, it did received them though.
I tried this guide but it didn't work (the SIM card did work in other phones). I then proceeded to install a snapshot version of CyanogenMod (cm-11-20140708-SNAPSHOT-M8) and followed this guide, that didn't help either.
When I finally gave up, I went back to stock and the SMS sending problem was fixed, but now a new problem came up with the cellular and the WiFi signals being very low and sometimes nonexistent.
Then I found this thread and did the following:
- Rooted and installed custom recovery using @mattlgroff's DROID 4 Utility XT894 Jellybean guide.
- Went into custom recovery and did factory reset.
- WITHOUT EXITING CUSTOM RECOVERY, I installed the latest CM again.
- Again, WITHOUT EXITING CUSTOM RECOVERY , I installed @Mentor.37's Patch to fully enable GSM on Verizon CDMA Android phones patch.
- Success!
SMS sending works now on other ROM besides stock and the low signals on cellular and WiFi, got fixed too.

What firmware do people use with this rom, and asop roms in general?
I am in the latest firmware available but get some WiFi issues on lots of roms. I wonder if my firmware is the problem.

Work without s-off?
Is there any chance this rom will work without s-off? I have like the newest version of hbboot and I can never seem to get s-off to work. Really wanted to try this rom out.

Well if you have twrp installed, why not backup your current ROM and give it a whirl.
Play service error
I've problems with Gapps. every time i reboot my phone i've a "google play service stopped working" error. now i cant connect to the store. some solutions?
Hulu issue with this rom?
I have tried this rom several times and I have found that everything works great except for Hulu. When I resume a movie or show, instead of starting where I left off, it starts to buffer then it starts back at the beginning. I have only had this happen with this rom. Has anyone else had this problem?
Gapps FC =(
Hello All, I just flashed TWRP 2.7.1.1, mounted system and cache, and Flashed this rom. Bootup was phenomenal. Once I got in, I got Google Location and Gapps FC. I dismissed them and proceeded into the rom. Everything else was perfect besides the occasional gapps FC popup. I attempted to connect to my google account in settings->accounts->google, but it keeps showing FC. Anybody have any idea what to do? Thanks a lot in advance, take care all.
How to install add-ons
I've installed the rom in my HTC M7, but I don't really know how to install the add-ons. In literally new in this, and I think I should flash the kernel using fastboot, but I'm not so sure. Could you please guide me through? Thank you
I don't see any option to customize lock screen. It's supposed to be on settings / lock screen / customize lockscreen, right?

I am running a unlocked ATT M7_UL on T-mobile's network with CM11S which is just a beautiful and stable rom, I followed the intructions on installing CM11S, I wiped date/calvik cache, etc and flashed it using TWRP and everything works perfect on it except sometimes I lose signal and I am unable to change the network manually. When I check the APN sometimes the list of APN's is visible and sometimes there are none listed. But, when I try to manually set it and save it, it wont save. Wifi works grea, but no mobile data or ability to make or receive calls or text. I have tried wiping data and reflashing ROM and again it only works temporarily and then I lose signal again. Sometimes it does not read my sim card. I have tried the sim card on other phones and it works great. So i know its not the sim card. I did not install a custom Kernel, I am just using what came with ROM. Any one else experiencing this problem? Any suggestions?

AGISCI - Thanks for creating this thread. I hope we will have participation from folks who will test and provide feedback. I also hope that hutchjim will also provide info on how this ROM was created and what changes he made.
I believe the ROM is debloated from most of the Verizon apps and installs TWRP 2.8.7 as recovery. All of the Motorola Apps are there and function as expected from my experience. My phone connected to Verizon for voice and data. I do not know what other changes were made.
My experience to date has been mostly positive with just a few issues. I'll list those in a message a bit later. For now here is my interpretation of hutchjim's installation instructions:
1. Perform factory reset/wipe. THIS WILL WIPE YOUR PHONE AND ALL DATA ON IT. Either the built in reset/wipe of using TWRP. I used TWRP 3
2. Flash ROM
3. Perform another reset/wipe. I used TWRP 3
4. Phone will boot to initial setup. Follow prompts. Hutchjim says not to setup wifi during this phase but I see no way to avoid that. I connected to my home wifi at this point and continued setup.
5. As soon as you can go into Settings go to Cellular Networks > CDMA and select RUIM. No other changes should be made in the Cellular settings. You can also go to Backup & Reset > Reset Network Settings and reset there. Verify that the CDMA > RUIM setting is still selected.
6. Reboot and verify network settings.
7. Continue setup/restore from previous backup from Google. Any apps that need updating for MM will do so during the restore.
Doing the above results in a phone running 6.0.1 which identifies itself as a XT1097. I'll post a screen shot of the ABOUT phone screens later.
To root I used the files from here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/development/root-root-moto-x-2014-android-t3249105
Flash using TWRP
1. root-boot-6.0-xt1095.zip
2. UPDATE-SuperSU-2.65.zip (there might be a newer one out there but this one worked for me. It should update later if needed)
After this I was able to install the latest Exposed framework and app, Gravity MM, XGELS and AOSPSignal icons modules with no problems.
I had been using this ROM with no real issues since last Friday. Legacystar reported that his phone was Roaming after he installed the ROM. Mine was not Roaming worked great - until this morning when it went into Roaming a couple of hours ago. Nothing I did could make it change back. I restored a backup of this ROM from Saturday but the phone is still Roaming. I've now gone back to my last 5.0 backup and will try to reinstall the ROM later when am back home. Will update then.
Here is a list of items I think we need more info on:
1. What was the base ROM for this? I think it is XT1097 based but it may be XT1095 since the XT1095 root files work.
2. What changes were made to get this to work wit the XT1096 radio and allow CDMA operation?
3. How do the Cellular settings work and how can they be improved for this ROM?
4. How to bypass the network setup screen during initial MM setup?
Hope this helps. I'll update more after work and when I reinstall the ROM. Until then I hope more testers chime in with their experiences.

1) It is based on xt1097, specifically on retla which is the retail latin america variant. I am not surprised that the root files for xt1095 work since the xt1097 and xt1095 are extremely similar.
2) He sent me a list of some of the changes, I will dig through the files modified to get more details on what changed.
I was sent a new version by @hutchjim, it is uploading to google drive now. Hopefully in the new version the roaming problem is fixed.

Alright, sorry for the long delay. My internet is messed up right now. I started the upload last night and left it running. I woke up to a failed upload message. I started it again and it took 5 hours to upload... anyway, I have updated the first post with the link to the new version. Please try it out and let us know if you have issues with roaming still.
I have had the roaming issue since I installed the original MM posted a few days ago but even though the R is showing by 4g it still allows me to access data through 4g. Hope I am not going to incur the financial wrath of big red. lol. I was reading this forum using it. Anyway, I want to say thanks for those putting in the work to try and figure this out and support a stock MM rom for the xt1096. I will test the new version as soon as I get it downloaded and report back if the roaming issue persists for me.
I have updated to the latest version of stock MM offered on first post and can confirm that the R roaming symbol is gone. I have rebooted several times and finished setting my phone up how I want it. The only issue I had during the process of installing and setting up this version of MM is that upon rebooting the first 2 times I had a pop up saying "Unfortunately, Verizon Login has stopped."
I rebooted into twrp and installed reinstalled the root and su zips and upon reboot the pop up went away. I guess I was wrong to assume that the order for installing the zips were 1)root boot for 1095, 2)Super SU and 3) MM Rom. After reading that in order it makes more sense to load the Rom then the root and su zips. Oh well, all is well that ends well.
Has anyone figured out how to bypass the wifi setup screen during setup?
Wrong forum.
i just loaded the new version and still getting the roaming. also having the verizon app crash on startup.
To skip WiFi setup, put sim card in on welcome screen so after boot put sim,
also roaming is gone for me but I just get data, no voice on some reboots voice aval even when it says out of service same last build.
Roaming was an issue older build new build fixed, voice still wonky for me

SM-T817W info for root and custom roms - INPUT needed please

I currently use the SM-817W version and using the following get root:
Flashed stock Android 6 image
Flash twrp_3.0.2-1_sm-t810.tar using latest Odin
Flash latest SuperSU sytemless
Boom everything works (lte, wifi, sound, camera)
Here are my questions:
Using the same recovery it lets me flash any 810 roms and they work fine (even Nougat versions) except the LTE since the 810 is a wifi only tablet. I see no problem here.
Now I flashed TWRP_3.0.0-1_sm-t815.tar so it would let me flash 815 roms that have LTE. Every rom I flash does not detect the SIM card. Just says it is not inserted. I can obviously get back to my initial setup and have everything work, but would love to use Android 7 on this thing.
Does anyone have any ideas on what I can possibly do to get SIM working?

gonna give it a try. but I have this issues only since the 4.0 update. no problems with 3.5.3
Been having the same issue. Tried turning smart wi-fi switch off with no change. Also cleared cache and cleared reset wi-fi connection. Tried changing settings on my router and can't find anything that makes a difference. MM had no issues and no other devices have any issues.
Only thing I think I haven't tried is a factory reset.

I'm entirely stock (so far) with the OTA 4.0 stable update (Canada) applied. So far, I have used both 2.4 and 5 GHz networks with WPK encryption. I have had no difficulty with WiFi that I have noticed.
I suggest you include details like specific phone version (A3000 vs A3003) whether you are rooted or flashed TWRP, or applied the update through a flash method so we can spot commonalities among those having the problems.

Owning a A3003, I have to admit, that I don't expirience any issues with wifi, at least not with my asus ac66u. n and ac works great on 5GHz; as well as n on 2.4GHz. On my samsung galaxy tab s (aka chagallwifi) I know those reconnects, when the country code of router and device mismatch (i.e. when router runs in european mode, but device is on world regulatory domain) I can't even see the routers ssid on 5GHz, and have lots of reconnects on 2.4GHz. Since oos does not come with settings for country code, you have to configure it in the config file (works only on rooted devices, since you have to remount /system rw):
The easiest way is using a root enabled file browser. Go to /system/etc/wifi and edit the file WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini after taking a backup of it. Find the line "gAPCntryCode=USI". Uncomment this line, and change "USI" to "EU" or "FR" or "UK" or "DE" and reboot.
Since I have no issues, I have not tried this, but I think it's worth a shot.
Of course you can do this without file browser (but not without root) via adb shell. When you are on the shell on 3t:
Code:
su
#on the device allow root for "adb shell"
cd /
mount -o remount,rw /system
cd /system/etc/wifi
sed 's/#gAPCntryCode=USI/gAPCntryCode=EU/g' -i WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini
#just to feed the paranoia check result
grep -i gapcntrycode *
#should give the line we changed
reboot[code]
I'm not sure about the reboot, peehaps switching wifi off and on is sufficient, but reboot definetly is.
OT: I'm very impatient to see the N source published: if we have the new kernelmsources and the N blobs (we have them since oos4), we will have quite some awesome custom roms - and I'm sure some of them will come with settings for wifi country code... (Before someone points me to existing N customs - I know they are around, but I'm looking forward to "native" customs, without shimming to fool the N linker to work with M blobs, without missing features and without castrated hals.I HIGHLY respect the coding jedeis making M blobs work with N, but I prefer native solutions for daily driver. And imagine: what will those devs get out of our devices, with native blobs and kernel source... I'm looking so forward to the new customs!!!

reboot[code]
I'm looking so forward to the new customs!!![/QUOTE]
thanks for your detailed explanation :) i'll give the file browser a shot and letting you know if something has changed or not.
Concerning the custom roms, i am pretty satisfied with the OxyOS, except the wifi issue (at least the disconnect/connect is not every minute but from time to time). I was a bit disappointed that the stable OxyOS 4.0 release has not the simple layout in the launcher included, that's why i've switched to the beta 1 which has it.
Oh by the way, while we are already talking about. Do you know if the betas will be continued? or was the beta 1 the only one, as they have published now a official and stable version of nougat? Just want to know if i can count on any (Beta) OTA's or not ;)
[B]Edit:[/B] To get rid of that god damn dm-verity issue while booting up the device i have flashed the OxyOS 3.5.4 firmware and radio. As i know the radio is responsible for the wifi and / or mobile data connection, isn't it? So i'll check how this works for me and let you know if this solved my issue.

I'm on A3003 128gb, unlocked bootloader but still currently completely stock, updated via ota to stable.
Closest I've come to a solution is to connect with a static IP. Still drops but reconnects quicker.
Tried different wi-fi networks and it happened on both.

Don't know about betas - I check ten times a day oneplusOSS git, but no update... So guessing from commits, if there will be a new beta in the queue is not possible.
For modem: I've seen this misunderstanding many times, but it's still around. modem is just for mobile connectivity (voice and date), it's in NON-HLOS.bin. The oxynos354firmware.zip completely contains the so called RADIO, which contains only NON-HLOS.bin and static_nvbk.bin. So flashing both is redundant. And its overkill: to get rid of the annoying message it's sufficient to downgrade bootloader to 3.5.4:

Hi,
anybody else has some trouble with the wifi connection since the stable OxyOS 4.0? It's connecting and disconnecting several times on and on, so that it switchs between wifi and mobile data. just wondering if it's only me?

I've got this issue too. I thought it's my router but it only happens on my 3T and not on my opo or s7 edge or laptop.
3T running Oxygen 4 with twrp and superSU
Where is this smart WiFi toggle people are talking about?
Think i may have fixed it for me.
Sideloaded the full rom instead of the OTA from https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/how-to/rom-oos4-0-nougat-op3t-leaked-t3523482
cleared cache, no reset and so far been over an hour without a drop.

Are you using the Wi-Fi router which supports IPv6 and runs on IPv6 mode?
I am also experiencing Wi-Fi issues. The phone randomly drops connection and reconnects. Screenshot attached.
I'm on 4.0, clean install, decrypted, TWRP 3.0.3.0 stable, rooted with latest SuperSU.
Issue was not present before the update at all.
I have tested changing the config to EU - issue persists.

Hi all. I am adding my thread in here to see if generates any extra help. It's not quite the same issue, as mine relates to a slightly different set of circumstances but hopefully someone will know.
Thanks.
To add: I dirty flashed 4.0.1
Issue persists, but it seems to be happening less. I do however noticed that on occasion WiFi is stuck in "!" state and I need to manually turn it off and back on.
