I have a bootloader unlocked Moto X and I've flashed a custom splash screen to my device. However, I'd like to reset the splash screen so it updates so it'll match the seasonal boot animation (currently the spring animation has a green moto logo). Does anyone know the command to wipe the custom splash screen and return to the default/seasonal one?
Thanks!
Browse through the themes and apps section, I'm sure its posted there.
When the phone starts up, you first see the static bootlogo (default is the Moto "M")... after that you see the boot animation. So what do you mean by "splash screen"?
If you have never unlocked the bootloader, the bootlogo is the CLOGO.BMP. If you have an Unlocked bootloader, or you've unlocked/relocked your bootloader, its the LOGO.BIN file.
The Motorola Boot Services app replaces the the bootloogo via replacing the CLOGO.BMP, and switches out the boot animation file on its internal schedule depending on location. You won't see the CLOGO.BMP switch if your bootloader is unlocked (because you'll be using the LOGO.BIN instead), but you will see the boot animation switch just fine.
So if you have an unlocked bootloader and want to replace the boot logo, you'll have to manually flash the logo.bin via mfastboot. See -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/themes-apps/moto-x-boot-logos-t2417961 and start around post #140 and post #150 of that thread for info on making your own, as well as a ZIP containing some premade/converted (including the Spring, Fall and Winter from Moto Boot Services, and the defaults), and there is some good discussion later in that thread (starting around post #300).

Right, by splash screen I meant the boot logo. For some reason my boot logo is still the default Moto X logo, rather than the seasonal one, even though the bootanimation is the spring animation. I wondered why the Motorola Boot Services didn't overwrite the old one with the seasonal logo. I'll keep trying to figure it out.

Because. As I said.. since you have an unlocked bootloader, your phone uses the LOGO.BIN for the boot logo... BUT Moto Boot Services only replaces the CLOGO.BMP which is the boot logo for LOCKED bootloaders along with changing the boot animation (which is the same for locked and unlocked).
Moto Boot services does not touch Logo.bin. So if you have an unlocked or relocked bootloader, you have to flash logo.bin with mFastboot yourself if you want to change the boot logo.
I've converted the Moto Boot Services CLOGO.BMP files for stock, winter, spring and fall to Logo.bin's, and they in the ZIP attached to post #150 of that other thread.

Yup! I've used those and they look really nice, it's just too bad that I'll have to flash them on my own rather than have the app do it automatically. It's kind of an inconvenience. Oh well, small price to pay.
Hello,
I have a VZW Moto X with an unlocked bootloader through SunShine. I just FXDed to 4.4.4 but I cannot get the phone to take any recovery image. I've tried TWRP latest and the one before, Hashcode's custom Safestrap, and CWM touch and none work. When I attempt to boot into recovery, the phone either boots normally or just turns off. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm at a loss for what to do. I'm really looking for root on 4.4.4; that's the only reason I left my 4.4 rooted locked rom.
Thanks,
Nick
EDIT I figured it out. I was hitting power instead of volume up when trying to select recovery. Now I feel like an idiot.
happens to everyone. you would think the power button would select things..
is there any hope to get it booting again

You had Android L originally correct? Did you know that in the changelog for the OTA that it says you CAN'T downgrade to another version of android after the update? I'm not 100% sure but I don't think you can flash a 4.4.4 system image anymore. So now you might have to wait for the System Image of Lollipop for the XT1064 to be released. I don't know how long that might be.
What were the failures you faced when you tried to flash the system images? Do you remember if anything flashed at all?
Also, the root method for the XT1064 causes takes it's time to boot past the unlocked bootloader warning; as NiekoNieves said. If you know nothing was flashed then you could leave it on for a few minutes and check if it boots into L.
I have a Verizon Moto X that even after flashing 4.4.4 with RSDLite it is still stuck in a boot loop. It tries to boot, but it never boots up beyond the green Motorola logo. After staying like that for some minutes it goes blank for a few seconds and shows the boot logo again. I have the 4.4.4 stock file and I have used it with RSDLite yet there is no change. Can anyone help with any ideas?
Thanks.
