I would buy direct from Sony. There is a part in the terms and conditions that say if you do not buy it from a authorised Sony reseller, then the warranty may not be valid.
I bought mine off ebay. Its now been 5 weeks and its still not back. I'd never do that again!

If you're a student or college faculty member, you can buy from Sony for 10% off (I think). So it'll be around $585
EDIT: only on the Sony USA store...

New Zealand only offer apple discounts.. however often big franchise stores have more discounts.

well i am a student but i don't live/study in usa, just there for a visit... can i still get it??
plus the company who imports sony to israel (where i live) does not respect international sony warrenty, only devices bought directly from them... so it's no use to me either way...

Wheres reliable source to buy a c6906 in the US?

Amazon doesn't charge tax also, I have a like new Z1 white 6903 listed on amazon for 568+shipping
there's another idiot who has a NEW one selling for 579+59 shipping, giving customers the impression that a NEW one is that cheap but it's actually at least $600 new. Pisses me off, I remember when ebay was full of those listings where the price is low but the shipping is expensive

Disappointed with pricing outside google play

You may or may not have heard about this but if you live in a country where purchasing devices from google play isn't available(which is like 98% of the countries),you will have to pay a whopping 549 euros for the 16gb nexus 4(that's the pricing in Austria, dunno about the rest of the world but it will most likely be the same).I will actually have to pay more than double the original price of a phone that got 16gb non expandable storage. And if I bought it online,I will have to sacrifice local warranty. It just looks like google is doing their best to force me not to get their nexus devices. There's just a big hype about how cheap the nexus 4 is with cutting-edge hardware ignoring the fact that only people living in certain countries can get it for that price. Why can't google be fair ? Guess I might end up getting Gnote 2,at least it got a micro SD slot.
Wow. This sucks. Nice find! For that price, I'd definitely go for a Note II!
(My cousin is in the states so he'll order it for me and send it here to India through my uncle's shipping company - Win win for me!)

i am personally ready to be robbed by those retail stores. it sucks but then the price tag wasn't the deciding factor.
Maybe see if someone from another country can buy it from the play store and have them mail it to you? Providing the shipping cost is realistic?
I'll get one from Germany too.
If anyone wants to order for me send me a PM.
I am screwed, since I live in the Netherlands. No Playstore here. Hopefully the online shops will sell against Playstore prices, or less Sucks I can't order from European Playstores btw, so much for European 'shop integration'.
Yep, I can't but devices from the play store here either.... :/ just hope its at a reasonable price or else I'll have to ask someone to buy for me... its not there on expansys yet either

I think we should wait official pricing for other countries. However, if in Italy the prices will be so high, I'll buy it online from another European country.

Well, it's worth a trip to Germany.
But I have doubts this will really happen. That would be pretty stupid of Google. Look at the price if the nexus tablet. That's also pretty cheap for what it has to offer.

I completely agree, I live in Chile and the carriers here are just thieves, the galaxy nexus retails here for around 750 USD contract free.
Gladly my brother is going to USA on december and he might get one N4 for me there at a normal price.
Does anyone knows if you can buy a nexus product online? Becouse whenever I try to go to the website says its restricted to my country, I dont know if its possible to shop online outside the US. I wouldnt care not having warranty if I pay 300 box.

I think that Google is selling the product below the MSRP because they expect people to post some of those saved euros into producst on the store.
It's 549€ here as well, and also in Sweden as far as i know.
Thank goodness my girlfriend lives in Germany.
It would be awesome if some XDA peeps located in Europe and have access to Playstores could help out their fellow European members

Buying the XZ

As you might have seen me crawling around this forum, I'm seriously thinking about buying the z. As for credit check issues I can't get a contract so I'm going to buy it sim free.
Tbh it's my first time buying a sim free phone. So it would be nice if someone could give me some advice on where to get the device. I live in the UK (Nottingham) btw.
I've been thinking about buying it on eBay, has anyone bought it that way? Any risks or advice you can give me if I buy it that way.
Thanks in advance.

Ebay is ok but make sure it's a reputable seller and it's not imported (to avoid warranty issues)
Ideally buy the device unlocked - if you can.
Retailer wise, Expansys (owned by Dragon Peter Jones and based in Marlow, Bucks.) is a good retailer but at full retail the device is £519 - ebay 'unwanted upgrades' go for £370 or so.
I've just bought mine from someone local to me, and insisted on seeing it working with my choice of network. As it happens, he couldn't show this due to a handset fault so i've made him RMA the phone to Sony before i send any money. Just be careful if you're new to eBay.
Tesco Mobile offer the XZ so you can goto a Tesco Extra store to see one in person to have a play before buying - if needed.
Good luck and just make sure you're confident with the sellers reputation on ebay before buying

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2117909
I see, is there any risk with sealed units on ebay? I'm orange pay as you go.
Also if I get it from someone as an unwanted upgrade from Orange is there a high risk that the company blocks the device if he doesn't pay the contract or is it quite dangerous for someone to do that? Also what happens to the warranty when I buy it like this do I need anything from the seller in case I need to rma?
Thanks

If you worry about all of those things then I'd recommend buying it from a real shop.
But most of the times when you buy it from someone with a very high rating, you won't have any trouble/problems, not even when it comes to warranty. If the phone breaks the chance is very big that you have to pay either way, it won't matter if you bought it from a shop or a reseller.
You are right, so now the thing is to pick the right seller. So I should pick people with 500+ ratting then?
edit: Also you said something about the phone not being imported? so should I ask the seller about that? It needs to be from the UK or europe?

Uhm I don't think that matters.
I'm not sure which version you need in the UK, I think C6603, as long as the version is ok, there shouldn't be a problem where it from since it's an international phone.
People from the states also buy the phone imported because it's not being sold in North America (Not by carrier that is)
And no 500 rating is way to low imo.
This is a good rating
Link
(Not saying that you should buy that one, but just giving an example of a good rating.)
P.S. Please remember that when importing a phone you will have to pay VAT once your package has arrived.
I think you had to pay VAT when the device is from beyond Europe, but not when it's being send from another European country (Could be wrong on this one though).

Don't limit yourself to Ebay. I am selling a XZ on Gumtree because there are no charges and you get to deal with the person face to face. I am sure there are lots of things to be wary of. I don't buy or sell many things so I am not aware of all the pitfalls, though I am sure there are some.
Get more advice from other people if you are thinking of buying from Gumtree, but from what I have seen, (through watching my son-in-law), you show the buyer the item, the buyer gets to see it first hand, and they decide whether to hand over pound notes for it. If the seller seems genuine and the phone is as described, fair enough. If you don't feel right go with your instincts and run.
I personally am very wary of Ebay, but lets be honest, if everyone had a bad experience it wouldn't still exist.
phones 4u are cheap and unlocked
Dont buy it.. Screen is ugly and gets alot of dust also the buttons are very annoying. You have to remove the protectors each time to connect to power and headphone..:good:

Ebay are biased towards the buyer. If you get no refund from a seller within 14 days, ebay will give you your money back due to distance selling regulations.
Only issue i've encountered with the phone unlocked, is that with every wipe of the phone with SEUS , I have to add the orange APN for internet access. That's easy though.

I have simply ordered it via http://getpebble.com in the USA and they ship from Singeapore
After 2 weeks i got a message that it was delivered in the Netherlands. Now i'm waiting for the Customs and delivery.
So this should work for you too.

If there was an European selling point, it would charge you the VAT anyway. So just order on getpebble.com and pay 150 dollars and your VAT and handling fee, or don't order a Pebble if you feel those taxes and fees are too much.
Verstuurd vanaf mijn Xperia Z
I live in Slovakia. Ordered from getpebble.com. It costed exactly 109 EUR (150 USD) including shipping. Watch arrived from Singapore in 5 days.
Package was not intercepted by customs office.
The official site won't overcharge you. Only thing you will be missing is the standard EU warranty.
You have to pay VAT in Romania. Might be different in every country.

Anyone from Poland got it from getpebble.com? What range of VAT/customs can I expect? I've seen some very inconsistent comments on some polish forums. Some paid none (not even VAT!), some paid VAT and customs.
Also - how it looks like when it gets broken? Do i need to send it back at my own expense? I admit this is what is holding me right now for buying Pebble, and i strongly consider Sony SW2 instead (as i have it in my local brick'n'mortar shops, so if it gets broken i can easily put it back).

My experience buying out of the UE (from Spain) is that the delivery company charges a lot more than taxes. For example, for a tablet delivered from China, I paid: 190€ for the tablet + 10€ for delivery + 38€VAT + 90€ for administrative costs. A similar thing had happened years before with some books from amazon.com.
I never expected to pay so much but the trick is that they already have your product hijacked, you have paid for it and you can not complaint to the provider because he have already said you have to pay taxes... I have promised myself never to buy anything from outside EU again.
Ordered yesterday from Italy with free shipping ... I will see what happens and I'll report back ... in my previously experiences in buying from outside EU I've been lucky ... I never paid for VAT or customs ... finger crossed!

All should know too that many times "refurbished" only means it was returned to the store without anything wrong with it. They cannot then sell it as "new", so they have to call the item refurbished. In the case of the Gear, where we heard it had a high return rate late last year, I would take advantage of an offer like this if you see it come up again.

Yeah, that's fine, but I am just saying that's been the best deal for the Gear in the US so far from what I have seen. It's a good value purchase at $130 anyways. For $300, the original price, not worth it. I chose the Gear 1 for the functionality and price. The Gear 2 only has a heart rate sensor and IR Blaster, which cannot vouch for a $200 price difference.
Pricing update FYI
Just thought I would post for those that are interested.
Amazon has the original Gear for 120.33 they are listed as used but they are being shown as Amazon Warehouse inventory which very often are customer returns. Free two day shipping if you are a prime member as well. Also eligible for standard return and refund policies from Amazon. Also this is for Jet Black.

$89
just bought mine for $89 today on bestbuy.com. i figured its features are worth 89 for sure. free shipping I might add.:good:

Price in EU (<€1200 now).

It's now sub 1200 Euros in Germany, if you look around a bit. Nearing 1100 in a few places.
Price has cratered harder and faster than any phone in living memory.
Samsung must be pumping these out of the factory pretty quickly, and not intending for new models to take as long as Fold 1 to Fold 2.
I can see this going below 1000 around Black Friday, and definitely by the New Year. If it's not already replaced by the end of Q1 '21, I'd imagine the phone might see significant development and community involvement, below 1k.
You're insane.

Really, care to explain why? Lowest retail price has dropped over 700 Euros in less than 2 months.
Samsung are well known for front-loading pricing, and quickly tapering it to distributors and wholesalers, but it's never been quite like this. The device is clearly intended to sell in volume, and not be the flagship for anything like as long as the Fold 1.
Re: development, plenty of 800-1200 Euro devices see lots of development.

Some links as evidence of brand new / unused prices as per your post?
The €1200 price you mention is a scam. No one is getting the phone for that price.

In the next two days I am going to buy a brand new in box Z Fold2 for €1.000 or less in Germany.
Not from a shop (several are offering them for €1.150 already) granted, but in Germany a lot of Z Fold2 have been included in a subscription renewal package where people just keep their current phone and monetize the Z Fold2.
I see the prices going down almost daily. It's a simple matter of supply and demand.
Check out https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/
The same thing happened with previous Samsung flagships.
LG devices also depreciate very quickly, but that is because noboby wants them and LG has to lower the RRP to sell them.

I know it's probably a foreign concept, but supply chains and retail channels are relatively competitive in Europe .. particularly Germany.
Probably seems unreal to you when informal price fixing in a hugely non-competitive market rules in the US ... and you just got a Verizon Fold 2 for $$$$$$$$$$, with no hope of waiting for discounts.
Why do you think anyone with a clue in the US buys from European retailers? Price including tax in Europe (which you don't pay) is usually much cheaper than price excluding tax at US retailers, save for Apple. That's what no competition does.
And now you're mad and refuse to believe anything.

Those are pretty much all either used or branded / locked to a network.
Show me a link to a commercial seller who sells sim free new sealed box Fold2 including full 2 year official Samsung warranty ... if you can't then just delete this thread
Not true, as I have explained most of them are new in wrapped box with full Samsung European warranty.
And as far as I know no German provider sells these branded and/or SIMlocked.

Lol.
Are you really not able to use price comparison sites or enter search terms and use filters on Ebay?
Rhetorical question. Evidently not.

I don't think any contract phones have been branded / locked for 5-6 years in DE ... and he appears to be implying these are secondhand contract phones. I'm not even sure heavily subsidised pay as you go phones are branded anymore.
Lowest retail price for sealed NIB Fold 2 in DE is 1149.99 today. It has been lower. Trend is still downwards quickly though.
I bought one of these z fold 2 of Germany.
1215€ and came sealed... I activated Samsung care+
I dont know the reason of the low prize of those phones, but are real and legal.

I bought this Fold 2 for one month ago too in Germany ebay kleinanzeigen 1350 Euro) . some people buy buissness phone cards with a fold 2 and they sell the fold 2 and use the phone card.
Now it is sometimes a little bit cheaper but ok .... I use it for over a month now and I love this phone ! So great stuff Samsung did here ...
You can buy these used for around $1400 US off of Ebay (which is around 1250 Euro, which is what I see it for on the German eBay site). Hoping for a slight bit more of a price drop from Black Friday, but I noticed that Samsung is still selling it for its original price, and they've dropped the price of trade ins by around $200.
I don't know why anyone would have paid full price in the US as it was on sale the opening day at every possible outlet and you would have had to literally give them more money than they were asking for the device in order to pay MSRP; I paid 1600 directly from Samsung's site on pre-order for the unlocked variant and others did better. Day one the latest greatest is always going to be more expensive than it will be just a short time later; you all know that, I'm not telling you something you didn't know. You do need to put it on a level playing field though, you can't compare the MSRP here to the actual price somewhere else at a different time, you have to compare actual price at the same specific time in order to get a valid comparison.

I'm looking to buy it again, and I'm not seeing all these great deals. Samsung's site is $1999, unless you trade in a device. The deals on eBay are ok for a used device, but not great. Amazon has some refurbs for $300 off, which is ok, but again, it's a refurb, to which they only promise that you won't notice a problem "holding it at arm's length". I haven't seen any sign of a new unit coming down in price from $2k.

Be very wary of purchasing a phone tied to a network contract.
These phones may get blacklisted a few months down the line if the original owner doesn't pay the bill, or if they have insurance and claim a month or two later that it has been lost or stolen.
... I know this from experience ... you could end up with a 1000 euro "tablet" that cannot use a sim card anywhere in EU

It's good advice, and I am worried about it. I see a number of devices for sale that say they're on a contract. Kind of terrifying that someone decides to switch providers and suddenly my phone is blacklisted.
Starting to hope for a Black Friday sale!
