Hi all, someone know if is possible connect a stock gear with a galaxy note 8.0 3g ( voice call )?
I 'll receive the note 8 next week and just find a special offer for the gear (200€ for only few pieces).
I think this is the best pairing for these product
P.S. Sorry for my fantastic english
i am trying to figure out how to do it as i also have a note 8
It should be possible and most functions should work..
Gear manager will handle most of the connection stuff, so that won't be an issue, but i'm not sure about all the notifications..
I tried my gear with i9100 on 4.1.2, i9300 on 4.1.2 and 4.2.2 (which worked a little better than 4.1.2) and i9505 on 4.2.2..
most of the functions worked, as i could make phone calls, 4.2.2 even loaded my contacts ! had no problem using the camera and have pics uploaded to my phone etc..
since 4.2.2 for Note8 is released, you should probably update.. i noticed that 4.2.2 handled the notifications a little better than 4.1.2 (but it doesn't do everything.. you need 4.3 for that)
1. update N5100 (or N5110)
2. install gear manager (you'll need the apk probably as it won't be available in the store i think)
3. connect your gear manually (no NFC available)
4. try to install apps through gear manager ! some devices show apps, others don't.. i'm not sure if the note8 will show any applications
5. if no apps (of only a few apps) show, you'll need adb or Wondershare MobileGo to install applications, but there's plenty of threads about that

Yes it works, but as it was already mentionned you don't have all the notifications, especially no text messages notifications. It seems that you need android 4.3 for that...
Ok, i want use the couple for work, use the Note 8 for take drawings and Gear for answer to the voice call outside my car leaving the tablet in my bag .
Maybe i will needed a headset, i hope not.

When I save a voice memo from gear is there a way to insert a time and date to be reminded? I know you get a notification on the phone instantly but I'd like some sort of reminder if available.
Where is watch Styler? I have version 1.09 and I looked on playstore and Samsung apps but couldn't find the app at either place to see if there is an update. Even if no update I'd like to know where the app is (playstore or Samsung apps) ?
Beamed from my Galaxy Note 3
as title, I have just installed wondershare on my pc and sideloaded mx player, angry birds and a couple of other apk files. my watch and phone (s4) are both stock unrooted and running the latest gear manager and watch software.
now after about 5 minutes I get a notification on the gear that it has disconnected from the phone and the sideloaded apks have gone. they still show up on wondershare but have to be uninstalled and reinstalled to show on the gear.
The installed apps work fine after installing them, and I didnt I have this issue when I 1st played with it at Christmas on my wondershare trial , but the trail ran out and I updated things.
So is this a problem with the gear manager software? or the gear itself? or me?
Use an older version of gear manager

hi ,
first ,it is not a Wondershare "problem "but i think its just "Sammy" that not to happy to let us sideload on Gear ??
As this issue with apps, worked 100% on previous rom and Gear Manager software untill a" few " versions" back .
yes ,i have same problem ( using rom NA6 and Gear Manager v1.6.132701 )
but it does not worry me ,as i know apps are working ..etc
i use a workaround , Thus having benefits of latest software /ROM and gear manager (unless its really buggy )
if you want to ,all you have to do is reboot Gear and if you look in 'apps 'section on your Gear ,
all your sideloaded apps should show ( before they evenually disappear from "apps " section.)
i launch each app once and close it straight away .( the reason is that it is in memory of recent use app )
if i need to launch a sideloaded app i tap screen with 2 fingers on screen , and hold to bring up all recent used apps and select relevant app ?
(No need to reinstall etc .)
also yes,
you should get it right, with previous version of Gear manager
but you would have to go back 2 ..3 versions mabe to vers .1.5......?
(but you are going to lose other" improved benefits eg. like better bluetooth stability between phone and Gear ? etc.
just an alternative suggestion if you interested
Previous posters solution works however.....I have experienced the same issue tonight after the most recent upgrade to Gear software. Rebooting worked also. My fault as I wanted to restore to factory settings to remove QuickTwit from Notifications (a bug). The upgrade did offer a restore which I didn't take D'Oh!! I then did a restore via Wondershare.
I found that the approved Samsung apps like eBay for Gear and RadiOn although restored to the Gear via Wondershare had to be installed to Gear Manager by installing the apps from scratch.
Now all the apps don't disappear after 5 mins. Co-Incidence?
However, they do not appear on the list of downloaded apps, as they did with the previous version of Gear Manager.
Do also make sure the 3rd party app permissions box is ticked on the Gear Manager too.

Going back from Gear Manager v1.6 to v1.5 fixed issue for me. There's a nice collection of Gear Managers in this page:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2593066
I hope it was just a bug in Gear Manager v1.6, and Samsung is not really trying to prevent sideloading.
Running 4.4.2 on a rooted LGG2. After reading on the forums, I have my (completely stock) GG connecting to my G2 and it seems to work, BUT I don't get any notifications, music player doesn't work... facebook app doesn't seem to work and I get an error saying
"Samsung apps not installed"
My path so far has been to install an older version of watchmanager 1.6.132701, along with the apps.
The watch connected after that.
I then installed the updated watch manager 1.7.031004
My watch then updated itself, and rebooted twice.
I have since installed several apps (ebay and facebook) from the forum, but they don't seem to communicate with the watch properly.
So my next step is installing a custom ROM on the watch?
Will bluetooth conversations on the watch ever work?
If I could get ebay, mail, and text notifications working I'd probably be satisfied.
Thanks for any help!

null rom is about the only one available atm
nullproject.net
null rom has Bluetooth tethering profile which will allow apps on watch to connect to internet
check the themes and apps section for notification options
check other device threads in gear forum to see how they achieved best setup

Thanks for the replies guys.
So if I install the null rom, will I be able to use the bluetooth audio function of the watch to make and receive calls?
hello I have recently installed cyanogenmod on my smartphone therefore I had to install android wear on my gear 2 neo but that doesnt want to play sounds and is missing a lot of features. I would like to get the samsung gear live android version onto it is it possible? I'm looking at these threads: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53237481&postcount=1
Also is there a way to get the samsung gear app to work on CM? every time I try I get a error saying my OS is unauthorized.
Thanks in advance
did you get this figured out? Because this thread discusses it pretty well
I have been trying all the advice I can find for two weeks. It's an obsession now, it's not healthy. Any help would be life changing. I have a lot of experience flashing roms and tinkering, I've been doing this for several years... like since CM7 with multiple phones. usually I can follow some instructions and make things work but this has been an epic fail.
I have a galaxy s3 and an s4 I've tried gear manager on both.... connects fine with a touchwiz ROM on the phone(s)., but I despise touchwiz and I'd rather get rid of the watch if I have to. I almost always use AOSP roms... currently CM13. gear will not work. I've tried editing build.prop changing samsung to htc. I've downloaded .apk's for gear plugin and samsung accessory service and install before and after gear manager. I've tried multiple older versions.
the latest stumbling block is an error message that says, "check if your phone is compatible and if the samsung gear app needs to be updated"
has anyone seen this message, I can't find any similar problems on this site or anywhere else?
am I missing something. did they update the gear app and now previous solutions are not working?
Thanks for your help. XDA usually saves me! I have never had to ask for help before.
I had the same issue with my Galaxy s5 kltedv with AICP Nougat custom rom. I got the Gear S3 and downloaded the gear manager app but it wouldn't open due to it "detecting and unauthorised OS." In the meantime I've had to return to the stock touchwiz (MM) rom to get it to work. Seems ridiculous that the app won't open with a custom rom yet it can be used on non Samsung phones. I'm still hunting around for an answer/solution so can't help you out just yet.
Found a work around answer for you at https://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s2/help/samsung-devices-running-cm13-12-1-pair-t3290076
2Mecky: Try editing your build.prop and replace your make with "google" or "htc". I've been able to get as far as getting the manager to open on my S5, but I can't get it to detect my Gear 2. I just got the watch today, though so I haven't had a lot of time to mess around. I am kind of surprised that I was able to get this far, though.
