Hello all , I wanted to do some research on the Krait_variant on the nexus5 . The bricked kernel has the inbuilt Krait variant finder or the script.
METHOD 1 ( no root needed )
- Reboot the phone twice
- With a File Explorer (FX File Explorer works well)
- Go to system /proc/last_kmsg
- Search the last_kmsg for a string 'acpu' You're looking for the following
[ 0.359957] c0 1 acpuclk-8064 acpuclk-8064: SPEED BIN: 1
[ 0.359957] c0 1 acpuclk-8064 acpuclk-8064: ACPU PVS: 4
Alternative for ROOTED devices
You need to use a Terminal app, I use the following "Terminal Emulator"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...idterm&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd
Also Busybox must be installed for the 'grep' command
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsInN0ZXJpY3Nvbi5idXN5Ym94Il0.
1 - Open Terminal Emulator
2 - Type su & enter on keyboard
3 - Reboot phone
3 - Open Terminal Emulator and enter su (this gives the shell root access)
4 - Type the following
dmesg | grep acpuclk
press enter * hopefully profit
IF THAT DOESN'T WORK, a failsafe method is
1 - Open Terminal Emulator
2 - Type su & enter on keyboard
3 - Reboot phone
3 - Open Terminal Emulator and enter su (this gives the shell root access)
4 - Type the following
dmesg > /sdcard/dmesg.txt
With a file explorer check the sdcard for a file called dmesg.txt. Open it and search for 'acpuclk'. You're looking for 2 values listed below "SPEED BIN" & "ACPU PVS"
My friend @RockR172 's nexus 5 seems to have the snail variant .
It might be so all nexus 5s have the snail variant (to keep costs low?)
Or maybe it's just specific to India .
Many more assumptions can be made
So your feedback is greatly appreciated
Please submit your build 310x or 311x or anything that comes new , region and Krait variant

it could be just my phone which has turned out to be a Snail, but i was a bit inquisitive if all or most of the Indian versions had the Snail variants or what..
my earlier HTC One S which was imported from USA had 'Fast' variant..
310k, India, Snail

check my last post. I've totaled the numbers and added some excel graphs. You might want to add a poll up-top with regions and pvs numbers from 0-6
So PVS 3 is most common
I guess cant do that from tapatalk :-| (poll). Will do it tomorrow early morning .

There's no cost associated with it. Cut from middle of wafer is better than edge. Nothing to do with cost cutting.

There must be a setting somewhere on this because it doesn't work for me either.

Make sure you have the latest version of Google Search and your system language probably needs to be set to US English (although I am testing with UK English and it works as well.)

Yeah... I've changed language to english (USA) and the menu "magically" appears...
It IMHO doesn't worth the change.
You guys seen this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2481571
Hey there,
xplodwild here, I did the announcement session at BABBQ, it was awesome. Thanks for everyone who were there.
So yeah, we didn't prepare a lot of YouTube demo videos yet, but all the information about the philosophy of Omni are available on Omni website: http://omnirom.org/why-omni/.
We are a ROM different than others: we are focused on performance, cohesion, stability, innovation, code quality, community and open source. And the community more than anything else. You are using the ROM, you should be choosing what you want to have.
When we're taking a patch from another ROM, we're trying as much as possible to enhance it before merging it. When we're getting new features, we give you a way to give early feedback, early access to prototypes, early access to mockups, etc, so that we know immediately early on if we're doing it right.
All the contributions will be GPL licensed (at least we'll be pushing for it). People will be able to vote up and down on patches,
Some of the key features of Omni:
Flippable Quick Settings
Roadrunner mode
Multi-window(!)
Daydream enhancements
Integrated Performance Control
Multi-workspace
Color-changeable, 3D depth Phase Beam
And a bunch more
We're also pushing non-Android stuff, such as OmniInstaller (an all-in-one, multi-platform, open source, installer that anyone can plug in), as well as a Qt library to give Qt Android apps a native Android look, and have gorgeous and super-fast Android apps. We're helping users, and helping developers.
Everything is free, free as in money, and free as in liberty. And transparent.
Edit #1: Regarding device support, we currently support all the Nexus devices, as well as the Oppo Find 5, Xperia Z, Xperia Tablet Z. We have preliminary support for the i9300 as well as the Oppo R819.
Edit #2: We'll have a bunch of developer resouces up soon, giving a head start to newcomers in the Android development world.
I probably didn't cover much things but I'll add more things as they come to my mind. We're having beers here and I'm probably not fully able to do a comprehensive post right now.

I doubt it does, I googled it and couldn't find anywhere that mentions the Note 5 having a built in CPU temp sensor.
If it doesn't, then what you're requesting would be impossible.

I use cool tool from playstore and it can set custom paths.
So basically u can display any sensor reading in statusbar with it.
Just ask your kernel developer what sensor is giving the correct cpu reading.
No xposed needed.
