Hi all.
Unfortunately it looks like the other thread was closed and I would like to help out other Sprint users who want to flash custom Roms. The fix should be flashed during initial installation, so:
1. Flash ROM
2. Gapps
3. SU (if necessary)
4. Sprint APN Fix zip
Data is confirmed to work out of the box on the following Roms, meaning there's no need to flash the fix:
CM11 based Roms
Cataclysm
Slimkat
Nitrous
Kangakat
Beergang
I'll update this list as Roms developers add their own fix.
I do not take credit for this as I did not create this zip (Thanks to Motcher41 for creating it). I'm just passing it along to help other Sprint users.

The fix for data on custom roms is not in the apns file, its adding the missing proprietary need to "authenicate" your device to sprint which runs during the initial setup in the setup wizard. The developers need to add the missing stuff "OmaDmclient.apk" and thats it ....

Anyone know if this "Sprint" fix works for Ting users as well? Its an MVNO that uses Sprint towers (includes LTE). Still waiting on my SIM card, but just wondering if i'll be able to flash custom ROMs.

Did you flash it right after flashing ROM/GAPPS? The one thing I noticed is that the only way to get it to work is to flash the fix before the first boot. I'm using the fix on Ratakat Rom as we speak.
Psx?
Has any one tried this with Psx? I get no data going to try again when I get home..
Hurray lol
Yerp it works:victory:
I got my n5 for christmas and i've never had data problems on any of the roms i've installed. o_o
however, i haven't been been able to receive sms messages on anything but the stock rom.
Does this work for non-Nexus 5 devices? I installed a 4.4.2 ROM on my Sprint Galaxy Note 2 and am seeing a similar data activation issue.

Hello fellow vs980 owners. anyone wanting to flash a stock based/flex/gpro2 or aosp kk based rom from the other variants can now do so by flashing a patch in the same recovery session b4 1st boot,
instructions: download rom (id maybe stay away from d800 just in case cuz of the 3rd mic tht all othe g2's lack?)
wipe everything! data, cache, dalvik and system 3x
flash rom
If kk based stock/flex/gp2 rom flash the patch labeled 24a rotation fix, if aosp kk based flash the aosp kk patch. (If u have backwards rotation go back and flash the 24a rotation fix then REFLASH the aosp kk patch! (It wont boot otherwise)
If u get a error about it being the wrong device on aosp you'll have to unzip the rom then go into the build prop and updater script and change it to vs980 from whatever it was originally. Also if u have network issues u can try to go into the build prop and change any instance of "lte on cdma device=0" to =1 and default network=9 to 11. Another thing that may work if there is no option for cdma in network settings is to dial *#*#4636#*#* then go to phone settings n change it to lte, evdo, cdma there.
Note: I would stay away from any kk rom that says "recovery included" or anything similar as you definitely don't want it flashing the wrong recovery to your phone so ask in the roms thread for someone to clarify what exactly the zip flashes,
Note #2: this should be considered a beta so you flash at your own risk. But im 99% sure that the worst case scenario is that it wont boot n you have to manually boot back into recovery n flash a different rom cuz these patches dont touch anything that would mess u up too bad, also it works on my phone and I've got confirmation from a few others that it works for them as well
note #3: these patches include a vs980 kernel for stock or aosp depending on the patch, however you should be able to flash any custom kernel of your choice after the patches
Note #4: the aosp patch is from dr87's mahdi rom which i believe is caf based, idk what mokee or sokp uses but if its not caf based try unzipping the aosp patch and replace the boot.img in it with one from slim or cm or just ask in the roms thread which kernels are known to work for that rom then flash that after the patch,

really? the script in the 1st zip is supposed to inject all the necessary apn's bulid prop edits and other stuff for lte on cdma to work outta the box. both cloudyflex and rayglobe flex that i tested this on worked fine, well i did have to toggle airplane mode after switching to lte/cdma from global mode in settings on rayglobe but after that everything was fine. did you guys try changing from global to lte/cdma in settings before having to do the build prop edit?

what the post above mind said. the thing about roaming in the title is in reference to the fact that the initial ports of some of the flex roms you had to either do a bunch of steps involving flashing a 12b rom then dirty flashing flex then clear data from a laundry list of apps or you could clean flash but have to put up w constantly having the roaming symbol in the status bar. but then again the op was fairly clear about what this does so if you're curious give it a read
Thanks for the fun down.. I'll check it out

Oh yea my bad I forgot to put that in the op. All the flex ROMs don't work w MMS cuz the v/ls980 uses a different MMS apk. Its like lgusmms.apk or something and the other variants use just lgmms.apk. u could try replacing the MMS apk from any flex ROM w the one from a 12b based ROM n reboot n see if that fixes it. Also if just pushing the apk doesn't work try pushing APN.conf to system/ect I think it is n see if that does it. I'll try it myself to see if that works

I'm using twrp 2.6.3.3
So while we wait for the 'Development' area to start filling up with new Roms, I opened this thread for people to share what they have found it currently works from other S5 Forums.
So far I have tried and work:
* Alliance Rom (From the T-mobile Forum) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2748569
* Stock International from the International Forum ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2761682)
* X-Note from the International Forum also works (after removing the Aroma stuff and editing the META-INF folder, Thanks @Skizzy034 for the hint)
* Vision-X http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2797336
* Alvin's Stock http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2791067
You have to setup the APN after installing the Roms
*** IMPORTANT***
If you lose root on when installing International ROMS, use 'towelroot v1' to root v3 seems to not work sometimes.
I posted this in the safestrap thread. It will help out for this thread also:
(Aroma Based Roms)
You can. You just have to take the stuff you want out of the optional aroma install folders and place them in the corresponding /system folders such as /system/app. Then you have to edit the stuff in the meta-inf folder or, easier, replace the meta-inf folder with one from a non-aroma based rom, then just flash as normal.

I download a stock G900F rom , cook it with ArchiKitchen with ANCE modem.bin (need to specify boot and modem block). Modify others.xml for displaying NFC icon, disable shutter sound, and enable recording. Also modify customer.xml to make AT&T's default APNs (except FOTA and security strings) so data works right after the first boot. Disable Knox with Archi and no more annoying notification.
Totally stock.
Didn't check root yet but I believe it might have gone? I did not root my rom so I suspect it might have gone?
EDIT: Check with Root Checker and the it doesn't appear to be rooted.
I've been able to flash most ROM's from the international forums, as long as they have stock kernal and I take out the Aroma stuff, only problem I've noticed on every one of them is SuperSU binary fails to update, don't know if it has something to do with safestrap or what.

wow. You we're able to be on 5 minutes ? I think it was for me at least 3. Ugly system. Not disrespectful but I don't like the ui. It's an early stage version. Maybe they will implement good parts. Somwhere, sometimes.
Yeah, I gave it two more minutes just trying to get the time set. Its kinda bad all the way around. I spent more time in recovery backing up and restoring than I did on the ROM.
they had, and still have the best multitasking on a mobile device i've ever used. it was just so fluid and intuitive. some of their features they incorporated are still ahead of their time today
I have tested it, and I can't get it to work properly.
When I use the stable version, I have gsm signal, but I cannot make calls and have no wifi.(Disable sim pin otherwise It won't work at all)
With the nightly I have no gsm signal at all, wifi starts scanning but doesn't find any wireless networks.
without internet, not much you can do.
I wonder if it has to do with the radio versions?
As for the rest, it's quite buggy and laggy but doable.
I just don't like the way they implemented the pre's hardware button/gesture area :s
I've been chatting with the devs on irc (#webos-ports on freenode). They're doing all their builds off of android version 4.2.2. No one is quite sure if that matters, but they recommended starting from there as they used some hooks that may have changed. If you're having issues try flashing to android 4.2.2 then to luneos.

I just needed some free time to do it properly. Making an international gsm firmware work fully on Verizon is a pain in the you-know-what.
I also had the motivation of wanting to fully port the G3 camera driver which I never got around to with the initial G3 port I did with Cloudy and Tangjun. I'm happy to say it was worth it. Hope you enjoy it.

No need to...just follow the install directions above. The only reason you (or anyone) ever lost knock-on is because they had flashed a kernel (if it's included with the rom it's the same thing) that enabled knock code and consequently updated the touchscreen firmware. Knock code also has a framework component that LG/Verizon for whatever reason never included in their firmware...so when you came back to a vs980 stock rom you also lost knock-on due to the newer firmware not being compatible with that firmware. It's a simple as that. All that has EVER been needed to restore it is a simple 10 second procedure.
This firmware package DOES have framework support for knock-on, so I built my kernel to use it. If you switch back to a VS980 Stock rom after this, you'll need to do the touchfw update in one of the 4 different ways that have been detailed.

Edit: I serched for blastagator and found his thread for twrp. I updated to the newest that way.

The bootstack is the same one I had posted for my 26A rom. I didn't/don't want to confuse people with having more than one bootstack zip for now while everyone transitions from loki to bump. That said, if you had just continued on to install the rom you would've noticed that the firmware zip installs the new/bumped 2.8.1.2. Just follow the steps and you'll be fine.

@xdabbeb am I reading this correctly that it is bumped and not loki'd?

No, they're not compatible but all the newest Google apps are at the play store.

Another thing i notice is that the smart notice isn't working. Maybe that is why it was not preloaded on the screen.
If i want to restore my nandroid backup of CloudyG3 can i just flash cloudyfa's kk baseband then restore from twrp 2.8.1.2 or do I need to downgrade the recovery and/or bootloader?

Did you wipe data or did you dirty flash? Neither of those apps exist in mine.
Very cool! I think I will have to give this a whirl. Thanks XDABBEB!
WOW....awesome work!! I did verify that the 26a bootstack I had was the same in the OP by verifying the Md5.
Flashed this last night and nothing but praise for this ROM. Everything works great even Tap to Pay (Soft Card). This is the only G3 ROM where I have seen it work at all.

Did you need to install the RootCloak xposed module? I know that this ROM hides root, and I confirmed that in the settings, but when I start Soft Card it tells me it can't be run on a rooted device.

Yes, I installed xposed framework and rootcloak to get it to work. Also, if you are running ART you need to disable before trying to get xposed to work.
I'm so psyched this is finally coming out, I'd given up on ever seeing this ROM come out a few months ago and have been putting up with the roaming bug on CloudyG3 ever since. So glad I don't have to deal with that crap now. Thanks man.
For all those that are just craving a taste of a decently stable marshmallow experience for our m8 until GPE lands you can try the prereleased version on cm13 found herehttp://www.invisiblek.org/roms/cm-13.0/m8/ and use the slim gapps found here https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=41043 I'm running the 11/11 build of cm13 and the 11/11 mini build of gapps. Most everything is running flawlessly with a minor hiccup here and there. Remember all credit goes to @invisiblek for cm and @dankoman for gapps I'm just sharing to my sprint brothers and sisters till HTC gets to release the source that we need to hopefully get us up and running on GPE.
Remember all bugs go to the appropriate thread this is after all a GPE thread I'm just try to help the craving.
I'm using this on mine. Works pretty well, actually it's way faster than CM12 was, BUT there are minor glitches, but that's to be expected with alpha software...
bugs?

At the end of the CM 12.1 thread. Invisiblek said a new thread will be created once closer to nightlies.
tested it, basic functions working. Did not connect to my wifi (although it showed the wifi's in the area), did not connect to 3g data (was not able to switch network to wcdma). Anyways i was only testing it(for own pleasure), restored back after 2 minutes xD as i was in a hurry and required data connection.

Did you try setting apn manually?
No...
So the oddest thing occured, while trying to pair my bluetooth, the download meter started downloading something, so I went to my play store to see and I couldn't find anything until Gsam reported Cyanogenmod system was downloading some blank file.

I noticed a weird issue, where after some time, it will start connecting/disconnecting LTE indefinitely, making it essentially unusable.
However, I found a temporary workaround. I simply cause the Telephony service to restart. To simply do this from the UI, go to Settings->More->Cellular networks->Carrier settings. This will cause both com.android.phone and Settings to crash, effectively restarting the telephony service.
How do i install a SU app on this ROM. I have enabled root in the developer option but want an app to manage it.
I seem to be missing where you can download cm12.1 for the sprint m8? Just bought one for my daughter as a tablet. Really starting to get nervous that I messed up. Is it in another forum?

It's in the original android development section. Under regular m8 (not Sprint specific.) There's a new CM13 thread there too but I don't believe that's ready for day-to-day use yet.
