So I bought a 32GB Nexus 7 like a week ago, and sold my 16GB one to a good friend because I found there wasn't enough space on it for my obsessive film habits, lol.
Anyways this problem didn't seem to manifest itself until I upgraded to 4.2.1. Now, the battery sometimes actually drains instead of charging, and this happens while doing anything but keeping the screen locked and doing something else (not easy!). Is there any way of fixing this besides unlocking my bootloader and losing all of my films and apps, then flashing a ROM? Thanks in advance, guys.

I think it's safe to say the community for the T-mobile Note is just about as empty as a legacy device from the old days. I don't really see much other then the Jedi Leader ICS and CM10 nightlies so i'm guessing people that aren't jumping up to the Note2 are sticking with some they consider stable.
So What are you running?
I'm running ParanoidAndroid 2.51. One of these days i need to sit down and learn how to properly build from source so I can keep myself somewhat amused.
I've been running liquid smooth rc9 for the past week and its been running nicely. I used paranoid also and really liked it, just not a big fan of the dual panel menu.
I've been messing around trying to learn to develop from source. I've been working on a kernel, but have been getting some errors when I go to compile. I haven't been able to figured out what I'm doing wrong yet.

why
I was just looking at this device... why so few using? My guess is that most people are on the phone rental plans so they opt to Note II or SGS3 or ???? on the Ebay market this one is still pulling a strong price . what is the base/stock rom for it anyway?

Are there any compatible Atat galaxy note ROMs for T-Mobile galaxy note since development over here is practically nonexistent?

Look at the WiFi and vibration fix thread in the development section...it tells you how to use all the att ROMs...I'm running the att AOCP rom on my Tmobile note right now

We ar all thinking/wondering, are you keeping youself amused with building a rom
there is surely a lack of love for the Note but why? its specs are very close to the overpriced note 2...
they sell fairly well [usa] on ebay - go fast, and price at about half the price of a clean note 2 ...
I don't know if I can call $325 a BARGAIN per se, but its competitive with other thingies in that range
I'm running with pan droid 2.5.6 on my T-Mobile note one...
Just follow directions.. easy
Thanks again

can someone check my assumption here: I need T-mo WIFI calling app to work with no issues - I'm dependent on it.
I am assuming that an AT&T version [unlocked] is a no-go, 'cause at&t really wants to defeat wifi so it will not have the app.
correct?
i'm 0 for 2 on unlocked at&t phone attempts with T-mo .... its enough of a challenge just finding ANY phone, including those T-mo pushes, that will handle wifi calling app smoothly.
luckily i have had several that do so
I just switched from Jedi 4 to Liquid Smooth rc 9. No complaints so far. Enjoying the liquid splasher options. I did take Gnote from the Paranoid rom and install it on this one though as I couldn't find an Snote substitute that I liked anywhere else.
Hi OP! I have an att note that I got by reupping my son's line- he hates smartphones and just recently started using a keyboard phone for easier texting- he's 26. I have had this phone for a year, didn't use it for the 1st 4 months since tmobile didn't work so well till the blaze modem was set up for this phone.
I tried the stock t-mo rom when it was available after tmobile released their note. Didn't work so well- had heat issues. So have been running ptmr3's padawan for i717 with blaze modem- on the monthly 4g plan for 6 months or so. Love that!
2 days ago I tried the tmo roms again. Stock still problematic, but tried ptmr3's Jedi4 with the new mixed modem of tmo and n7005. It's working really well with great data speeds- 10-14 mbps DL, and 1-3 mbps UL. Battery seems to be doing well and no heat issues with this modem.
I would love to get the note 2, but can't justify the $$ and no way do I want a contract with anybody. So, here I am with my note that I still love, and I flip back and forth between my GNex for a smaller phone when needed.
For the person who wants to flash the att roms, I read yesterday that all roms between the att and tmo notes are interchangeable with no flash problems.
I did it with Jedi 4 with no other prep. I wiped padawan rom and data, flashed Jedi, and then started testing modems after it settled in. So far, so good. There are still Note lovers here
I just upgraded to the note from my sgs4g. Currently I am running PA but I like to switch between that and CM 10. Don't be surprised if this phone gets a sudden push of users since Tmobile is offering it as a cheep upgrade phone, also Samsung's in general are safer to root and load custom roms on. Even though this is not a popular phone, it is gaining in ownership. ALSO I like how you can load all the 717(att note) roms if you want.

to me its a great device. I may start a Bloatware guide thread...it could help some. I would hope all of you pitch in.
hate to sound ignorant, but which is "PA" ?
for now I am sticking with leaning down the stocker, and looking out for a Jellybean push from samsung.
mine is pretty fast as it is with about half a dozen or more uninstallations of stock bloat. i have plenty of memory space.
I got to the Note 1 via Nexus 7. make sense? I was using a LG and, like you, SGS4G which we still have [need to REALLY skinny that one down], so I get the n7. after rooting and playing around with various mods and configs, I was thinking: I'd like to have this 720p but integrated with the handset since I can't figure out where the big tablet fits in with my habits... plus I wanted sd storage, wifi calling, etc. so the logical answer: Note! reading the specs, I don't see that the very hot-selling Note 2 [with apparently auto-cracking screens...] is worth nearly double what I paid for my note 1.
Pa is paranoid android.

Well Shane is correct it does stand for Paranoid Android. I agree that this phone is a bargain now. It us one of the few phones you can get for less then $400 with out an upgrade. Granted I used my upgrade. I used the upgrade, because the old galaxy s 4g was two years old she needs a new battery. It was time to pass her down to my son. So down graded her from JB (it wasn't quite stable yet) to ICS and gave her to the boy. I was able to catch this at Costco for $50 (with an upgrade) So I jumped on it.

I do the $30 monthly with t-mobile and rely on wifi calling a lot since my home office is in a dead zone. switching to the "unlimited" data plan [100min talk...i'm not a big talker] in a couple days - got the $30 window on that. [btw... the data allowance on the 30 talk-oriented monthly is very small, but I'm not sure they can calibrate it right via wifi because I have used data heavily but never come close to running over, and a lot of times when I spot-check it the meter shows Zero]
this is a good handset. keep it lean and its as fast as any non-gaming person can use.
and I see far fewer screen breakage reports on this one [knock on wood]. there are a lot of busted note 2's on ebay hunting a buyer.
Hello guys,
I just wanted to let you know that I've updated my phone, bought a brand new Nexus 4 and kept my Galaxy S2 in the closet
What do you thinks of this update? Worthy?
Here's some stuff I'll probably miss:
Removable battery
Expandable storage (I had 48gb in my S2, so my sd card has no use for now...)
Let me know what do you guys think.
Thank you very much, have a good day ahead.
That's funny, I'm doing the same thing and mine arrives today. I don't think I'll miss that stuff; I am not one to swap batteries, plus I only ever had a 4GB microSD. Perhaps you will get used to being more conservative with space.
Overall though, I think it's a huge update from the Galaxy s2, performance and looks-wise.

I'm sure you will miss some of those things in your s2 but it is actually pretty easy to adapt to not having them. Storage is not an issue if you have WiFi at home. The battery does last for a while on this phone anyway.

I had also S2. Only camera bothers me compared to S2.
@ korockinout13 I guess you are right, funny coincidence though.
@ eqjunkie829 I am quite a conservative person referring to "Storage is not an issue if you have WiFi at home." but I guess I will give it a shot!
Regarding the removable battery I will just miss it because whenever my S2 went buggy/crazy/laggy I just removed it and placed back again (especially when I had bootloops, if you know what I mean haha)
@ grisoxxl Isn't the quality better? Or the videos are just bigger in terms of size (GB)?
Thanks guys!
Years worthy

OT - Rise Against are an amazing band
Anyway, @ OP the N4 is a great device, you'll soon get used to not having those things or will find workarounds. You can simulate a battery pull by holding power down for around 10 seconds. You'll definitely need to manage your storage use quite carefully coming from a 48GB phone but it's not too bad once you do that. The video quality isn't better, it's one of the biggest downsides if you care about camera quality. The N4's camera isn't awful but it's far from being the best either. Regarding the most recent post I have no clue what you mean by WiFi being unstable seeing as mine is fine and it doesn't seem to be a commonly reported issue, but there is a patch to make it faster.
Great choice for an upgrade! and hope your going to love the nexus 4
i exchanged my galaxy s3 for the nexus 4
yes there will be a few things you are going to miss ( for me it was battery, sd slot, camera, )
buttttttt i grew to love this nexus
runs so much better and doesn't give me lag issues out of no where and the battery is amazing for the size of it also with this beast processor running inside this thing.
if you lasted with the s2 for a while im assuming, your going to hold onto this nexus for a while as well
congrats.
Is that an upgrade? I moved from Galaxy S3 i9300 and I say it was totally worth it. I miss USB otg though.
@ Nigeldg I already manage to sort out the store issue I will purchase a wireless sata compatible with android!
@ bodom_hc I want to keep it until Nexus 5 or Galaxy S5 comes out
@ Wololo7 Didn't get you with "Is that an upgrade?"..
Anyway, seems like I will be happy with it.
I went from an S2 to a N4 and I've never looked back. The camera isn't bad only time I've had a drop in quality is in really low light. No SD card doesn't bother me as I only have have basic games on my N4 and use my N7 for my mobile gaming needs.

I've upgraded from S3.
The cons everyone knows... SD card, camera, FM radio, etc. But I'm happy with it.
I also have problems with wifi speeds. When I try SpeedTest I get full speed (50mbps), but when I download something from browser or tapatalk I get a few kb/s. That's weird. Same behavior in nexus 4 and nexus 7. Cyanogen (n4) and Stock (n7).
maybe it is the server of the download service remember not everything is going to give everyone fastest speed

Me too. I bought a Oneplus One and used it for one month. But it was too big and the sound quality was really not as good as the GS1. So I sold it and I am back to the SGS1. Small, light, great sound quality.
If I earn cash i will buy a Lumia 630 or 820 ;D

I got a HTC One mini. It started to break on me after 3 months! Took HTC 3 more months to admit it was their fault. Then got a HTC One as a replacement, but after the crap service I had from HTC I sold that and came back to my 4 year old Galaxy 1 which is still working great! And compared to higher spec phones is still a beast! Long live the Galaxy 1!!!
Also S1 has a huge dev section and still kicking with some good devs pumping out some great work!
If I do upgrade again I'm thinking Galaxy S2 for the extra RAM. Really cheap to get off eBay. Spending 400+ £ for the latest phone doesn't make sense unless your rich or want to play the latest 3D games..

I am still running my S1 as my backup phone. It is 4 years old. I am using it now, as my main phone is broken. I have installed CyanogenMod 11.2 M9. It is a little slow, but still works fine.
im using a galaxy s i9000 too. its internal memory is dead, but i installed the ROM using a external memory card. everything works fine. running kitkat 4.4.2 . i love the i9000 display.
Use it as my wife's main phone. Running MIUI. Still works very well.
Started to use GS again. Bought Huawei Ascend p6 and its gps is worse . Dont know how they managed to do that. Huaweis kitkat roms are horribly buggy too, and thats why I switched back to the good old GS1. Might go back to p6 if they release a real update to kitkat. Got bored of the upgrade downgrade cycle.
GS1 CM nightlies work much better, no crippling bugs so far. And ive been using it for years.
I've started using my SGS phone again.. After installing Mackay ROM, everything feels much smoother.
About to update to KitKat now
I still use it as my main phone. I want to add the galaxy s2 or s3 depending on how one can run android L on them.
Honestly I stopped using it in April because I bought myself one SGS3 (rocking!!!) and gave it to my son. But it is running 4.3 and the kid is happy as ever with it. I had it since it was released and love it since then!
It is still my only phone, but the only reason I still do so is because I transitioned to small tablets (both Nexus 7 and now the Galaxy Tab S 8.4) as my main mobile computing devices. The only thing I do on my phone is calling as well as occasionally chatting (even though I do that mainly on my tablet too) and it provides data for the wifi only tablet.
Even with that limited use I gonna buy a used Galaxy S3 LTE (or better) before this year ends. The S1 is just to damn slow for me and a little more screensize will probably make me chat a bit more on the phone instead of taking the tablet with me all the time (even though the later will remain my main device).
Is my spare wheel
I am dissapointed with note 4 e.g battery poor fingerprint reader and lag. No update to themes. For almost a year been waiting for the problems to go. I didn't buy this phone to turn off its features to almost last a day. So give us a deal for being loyal. eg if you had 2 notes a 20 percent discount to upgrade to note 5.or get the note 4 working properly..
Otherwise I see more people switching to iPhone 7.the 6plus already has a better fingerprint scanner.,camera is as good and definitely a better battery and maybe less bugs.
I've had every note to date... I wish there was a better alternative with a pen.
Same here if you look at my sig.. I had every note generation except the note 1. And I had every galaxy S except the S1... I am going to use my Note 4 til it gives up on me then I will switch brand.

i think the majority of complaints about this phone are about the battery.....
Love to see something like that, but we know that will never happen. Me and my wife have had the Original Galaxy S, The S3 and now the Note 4. Only reason I personally didn't go with the Nexus 6 was the removable battery and SD Card.
They do here in Brazil. It's not much, around 65 us dollars, but it's good enough. Btw, I'm not sure you have the same phone as me, my SM-N910C, 5.0.1 BOC5 stock with v. 25 ultimate Kernel is just perfect.

I'd call the battery "decent", of course I'm coming from a Nexus 5 before, so anything would be an improvement. It definitely wasn't as amazing as I had thought it would be.
But lag, yes, so much lag. Pressing Recent Apps and waiting two seconds for anything to happen. Pressing the power button to wake the device and waiting a second for it to turn on. It got so bad that I switched to CM 12.1.
Unfortunately I will not be rooting my 910C because I use knox ...
