Headphone volume? - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all. Considering picking a note 3 up. I use my phone as my mp3 player so good headphone volume is important. How is the headphone volume? Is it loud?

I have never needed to adjust phone to max volume to drown out the subway noise, though with some headphones, I do need to increase volume past the point where it nags you about how listening at high volume is dangerous (because, apparently, it's dangerous to listen at 75% volume, even though that's not as loud as 50% on a different set of headphones). If you root, you can kill the warning.
However, this is not a unanimous opinion: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2541902

external speaker volume

can someone tell me if there is a way to make the volume louder when viewing a video or playing music when the sound is coming from the external speaker?
Amp up the system volume.
See this thread a day ago http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=354011 Ba aware that overdriving a tiny speaker, as used in the Kaiser, will likely shorten it's life so you may end up killing the speaker. If it's very loud video or music you want (eg to 'compete' with industrial noise in the background) then aside from wearing your earphones under a set of ear defenders, your best bet is to plug in a proper set of amplified speakers which are up to the task and give quality sound.

Sound volume?

Hey guys, I was wondering if the sound can be tweaked to go just a little higher. I find the sound coming from the 2X good, but it's too low in volume.
As for example, the Samsung Galaxy S has a much higher volume. Mine is hardly hearable when playing next to the Galaxy S.
I'm agree with this, the volume is realy too low.
Im using a app called volume boost. It only cost about 2 $ in market. The sound in my headset becomes alot higher
Heard about it, but when I'm using my headphones the sound is pretty good. The thing I'm looking for is the volume for the speakers.
If it's for a louder incoming ring volume. Either choose a louder ringtone or boost an existing ringtone file by a couple of decibels with a sound editor program, like Audacity on the PC. I think up to +5db should be OK before distortion sets in.

Music too loud trough headphones

Hi I have a problem I have extremely good hearing and when I listen to my music on my note with the volume on minimum my ears hurt like hell when listening because it is too loud I measured it with a decibel meter and it is 52 decibels is there a way to make it less loud
How can it be too loud when on minimum ? It will be like a whispering mouse.
Have a fiddle with the equalizer settings, you may be able to reduce it a bit, As for mods and apps, they only exist to INCREASE the volume.
Or better still, place some cotton wool in your ears before putting your headphones in.

It is quiet with ear buds but when my big as headphones are connected they are way louder possibly because of the 50 millimeter drivers
aaaaah, that makes sense I assumed you were talking about the stock in-ear headphones.
I have some beats studios and they are very loud too, But i like it loud so its no problem for me.....
Do you have DSP Manager installed ? you could try to lower the bars to reduce the volume, Or try the app, Fine volume https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=opotech.finevolumev2

OK I will try that I have some beats pro which I unfortunately could not use because of the loudness so I used them on my mp4 player from sony
I think the best solution for you is a hardware solution, means: Buy an adapter which includes a resistor (with +/- to increase/decrease the Ohm).
All other solutions will impact the sound too much.
Those adapters are cheap and should be available at all eletronic shops.

Get an app with pre amp so you can turn the signal down b4 it's amplified.

[Q] Samung ATIV S earpiece music volume

Anyone have a tweak to increase the music volume capability of the ATIV S through the earphones? I enjoy the phone but I find that it's not loud enough to listen to music unless in a fairly quiet envinronment. The HTC 8X certainly does the job in terms of loudness, but then again it has Beats Audio and a dedicated amp for that.
Whoa, seriously? What have you done to your poor ears?
Sorry, I don't have such a thing. But the music player at anything above about 20 hurts my ears when using earbuds, and at 1 it's still sometimes louder than I actually want in a quiet space (0 is fully muted). I normally have it at about 5-7 for things like the bus, which is pretty noisy. On the other hand, the internal speaker of the phone isn't terribly loud; if I'm listening to music through that I will usually crank it to at least 20.

Ahm... are you really talking about a Samsung ATIV S? Something does not sound right here.

Model SGH-T899M, yes indeed. It could stand to be louder sometimes, but with earbuds? The freaking keyboard tapping clicks are too loud for comfort if I crank it to 30!
It sometimes depends on the earphone. I always use in-ear headphones but some of them sound much louder than others.
Sent from my Samsung Ativ S
Specifically, it depends on the speaker impedance. Low-impedance speakers (such as the relatively cheap Samsung headset I usually use) work great; audiophile-grade stuff maybe not so much. Mind you, even doubling the impedance is only a 10dB drop; significant, but hardly likely to make it inaudible.

Volume unlock? (3.5mm jack)

I believe Sony is very aggressive in limiting volume for EU zone phones and DAPs in general. It's almost impossible to make them loud at all.
I don't generally listen very loud but some of my IEMs need the volume maxed out to be adequate, none of my headphones can be used in anything other than a very quiet room. Most of them it doesn't really drive at all.
So I guess my question is whether this phone is in fact limited in its EU variant, and if so, is there a way to turn the limiter off?
It's been like that since I remmeber on Xperia's. Very low voltage cpoming out of jack and low volume too.
