When I'm at home I automatically connect to a WiFi with an SSID like hgfyHjHjhffGgcyT557. Really dodgy. I have to forget this network then the phone auto connects to my own WiFi network.
Any ideas what this SSID is or why I auto connect to it even after forgetting it.

Hi guys,
I have this problem - I use wifi at home for a while. Then go outside and the phone connects to my 3g ISP and then when I get home with wifi available I can disconnect from the 3g network, but I can't connect to the wifi without resetting the device. I can see that it connects to my home wifi, but it is not using it and the wifi icon in not shown in the taskbar (until reset).
Any idea what is causing that?
Anyone know of an APP that auto connects to remembered Wifi?
For example
At work my SSID = GUEST
At Home my SSID = HomeWifi
I also have my EVO at "SJEVO"
Is there an App that auto connects to whichever is in range?
Thanks
Steve
When you attach to a wireless network, and configure it if you have to, you have the option to remember it. I have 3 stored in my list of remembered routers, my droid phone, my home network, and my church network. It will auto-connect to any of these if it sees them, at least I think it does? I am running stock 3389 with the enhancements package, if that makes any difference.
There is an app called Y5 in the market which I use for my Evo. It remembers all of my WiFi that I have accessed such as at friend's or home or work, and it auto connects when my evo is in the range. It disables wifi when I am not near any known wifi access points, and helps me save the battery and effort to keep turning on/off the wireless on my evo.
hello guys.
My HD7 cannot connect to wifi router. After putting in the password, it keeps trying to connect and after one min throws an error that sorry couldnot connect to the wifi connection. I am using a simple wifi router and not any N router
Authentication type is WPEA2
Thanks in advance
I found this article ( i am not allowed to post link) which says something about a bug in HD7 and venue pro which doesnot allow them to connect to wifi. Any workaround guys
Wifi problem...
Hi,
What is your network SSID name?
I had the wifi problem with my HD7 while my network SSID name had mixed capital and lowercase characters like "GedikNet"
Try to change your network SSID name to all capital or all lowercase characters. (like "gediknet").
Good luck.
Bye.
ssid is SHARAD. still unable to connect
can't have hidden ssid
Hi, if your network is hidden, unhide it. The darn thing cannot connect to a hidden network. I know it is extreamly annoying but that is what Bill-ware gave us.
Hopefully, they will fix it in the update.
Initial connection to my home Wifi was unsuccessful. I had to restart the router and all went fine. Setup: WPA2/AES, b/g/n mixed and SSID is not hidden. It is a Linksys/Cisco device. Check your MAC filter if it blocks your device. DHCP server has to be turned on.
Regards,
Cina.
i did not have an issue with the wifi router... all i had to do is get my mac id as i filter my pc, notebook and pda by mac id..
i heard the ssid must be visible it cant connect to those hidden ones...
maybe lowering the security level will help as well..
HAVE YOU resolve the problem? i can not connect my home wifi as well.
thanks
Seen an app in the HTC hub called hidden wifi but not sure if it helps

Due to the fact that our router is in the basement and we're located on the 2nd floor Wifi wasn't strong enough and we had to install a repeater on the 1st floor.
I have multiple Wifi devices and none had any issues with the repeater and the fact that I disabled to SSID broadcast.
Then I bought the Galaxy Tab... after some hours of trying different options I came to the conclusion that it's not a problem of the Galaxy Tab to connect to SSID off networks (at least when the name is like that xxxxx xxxxx), but it won't connect to the network if a repeater is repating the ssid off network.
Is there any known solution to this issue without turning ssid broadcast on?
All I can tell you is that. Repeaters cause alot of issues especially with SSID broadcast turned off. All I can suggest to you is that if you are using a custom ROM and you can connect to adhoc networks. You can always connect via adhoc to any device that is connected to the signal. There is a computer application that can turn you w7 computer to an AP. Connectify
I also have the problem of not being able to connect to my router with the SSID off, but very good with SSID on. Also cannot see adhoc networks at all.
I am currently on Overcome 1.4.6 which is otherwise giving me no problems what so ever.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Tried this last night and it worked well. Would use lots of data though.

It is really not "without wifi" - it is using the phone's hotspot as a wifi access point. So, instead of connecting to the home network, it connects to the hotspot wifi network. (or am I overlooking something?)
