Does restoring your backup for a rom will restore the kernel that you backed up before flashing new kernel?

A standard "backup" in both TWRP and CWM will include the kernel yes
wow didn't know that thanks everyone for answering ...didn't know that the Kernel will be backed up too cause i'm coming from Xperia Arc so ROM and Kernel act differently

No need to do anything, just boot in cwmr and use restore option and select the nandroid backup file created while you did backup earlier.
boot into CWM > backup and restore > restore or restore from internal SD ( as applicable) > select the backup u want to restore...

Hydracore works for jb and ics both, flash it and you will be good to restore, after restoring backup, flash hydracore again if you want to.

yes u need to be on the same kernel in which u did the backup

I have tested and no prob at all. Although this work for me, it doesn't mean it wont brick your phone.
If you scare to perform nandroid using 6.0.1.2, i eill suggest you using speedmod k13-3 kernel ot abyss 4.2 kernel to perform nandroid backup and restore. Both suggested kernel has more faster speed in terms of perform nandroid action.

yes i have been using speedmod and i have done nandroid backups on it with no issues.. but still after reading the thread i was hesitant to do a restore in cwmv6.
so just wanted to know as hydracore is now pretty common so ppl mite have used it for wipes and all.. wanted to know their experiences.

Depends if your backup includes the boot.
If it does then yes, if not then no
But its not a problem, if your backup does not include the kernel then just flash the kernel you are on now...you know which one you are on,
I guess I am on stock as its the rooted stock rom I am on, where do I find just the kernel?

Just flash a stock ftf and exclude everyting except the kernel...I have one backed up somewhere, but not here...I can post it another time, but you can just do what i said.
Also, look in yout backup file. If it includes a boot.img you should be fine to flash that recovery image and it should restore the kernel
edit
http://goo.im/devs/cdesai/mint/sony/boot-20120224.img
thats a link to a stock kernel, its not mine, but it says its stock unmodified...
I was on DDULP8 Deodexed firmware, I backed it up with CWM and then flashed CyanogenMod 10 over it.
Now I want to revert back to it, should I simply use the restore feature in CWM or do I need to flash the firmware again via Odin.
A quick reply will be of great help.
Just restoring the backup will be enough
