Hey to all XDA Users, I hope you are in good spirit today!
I am back again!
When I was flashing my HTC HD2 everyday I was close to a Professor now I upgraded to Xperia Z1 and I am stupid again as F...!
The Z1 I think is an awesome device but I am really disappointed for many reasons.
I can't select Governors and Frequences for low consumption of energy.
I can't put data folders on External microSD and use the internal Storage for Apps ONLY. (I am already out of storage).
I can't use many app because the OS is not rooted.
I don't have many Option in Settings to improve the Phone.
It's slow.
Drain Battery.
...ecx....
So like any Android Phone the best way to make it fly is to flash some good ROM.
How?
I was reading in the forum about some tricks to put the phone in some condition to flash the available roms but I really will be glad if someone can explain to me all the process to How flash the Rom.
I know is a stupid question but flash the Z1 is not even close to what I was doing with my old friend HD2 and I want to be sure to do all well.
Thanx in advance.
You should post this in the QA section, anyway, root your device first - install recoveries - download preferred rom - push to SD card - Reboot to recoveries - wipe system, cache and dalvik cache - Flash ROM. You should be fine

before that I heard about UNLOCK BOOTLOADER, I heard also this trick have some issues like the camera will stop working. If after that I flash some rom the camera will working again?
Can you help me and send me the right links for:
Unlock Bootloader,
Root the device on Z1,
Recovery for Xperia Z1
I got many threads with recoveries, what it means recovery for 518 & 526. Where I have to look on my device to know the right recovery?
bootloader link?
Er no, you do not have to unlock the boot loader to root Xperia devices.
Please just read the several threads that are in the general section and the one in this section to find out how to get root on the latest firmware version

In the above post of your you did not mention flashing roms, just rooting and installing recovery.
ALl stock based roms do not require an unlocked bootloader, and with those there is a lot you can do

If you unlock the bootloader you can flash any rom
Download and install Flashtool from here:

(Drivers are also in this package in folder drivers)
Download the rootable ROM from here:

For rooting read this post:

Download recovery from here:

And install it like describe in thread.
But, the most imortant thread for you as a new XPERIA user is doomlords thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2440565
The best kernels you ca use are from doomlord. But so far I can see he did not make a kernel for the latest firmware version. In the past (on my xperia S) you where able to chage Governors and Frequences. But wait for this a while. Unlocking bootloader is needed only if you use non stock based ROMs like CM, AOSP and so on. It's your choice what you want. There is no generelly answer for any ROM and situation, it depends only to your own needs.

Hi all,
I bought an Xperia T recently and I discover my locked bootloader when I rooted it.
Today since 2 weeks of testing my official .195 rooted rom I found that the phone is an energy eater.
So I tryed to find an upgrade of my phone with a custom rom and a custom kernel.
Obviously it's not possible, or I am not able to do it. When I'm flashing a new rom via CWM + flash CWM flashable and RebootFix no rom start.
So I would like to know which roms are flashable on a locked bootloader ?
Is there a list ? Which types of rom can I put to my phone ?

You cannot use a custom kernel on a locked bootloader, so any rom that requires its own kernel you can not use (e.g CM, AOKP, PA etc)
There are a few roms you can use, one is mine and the other actually says in the thread title its for locked bootloaders. Its by hackitz. Look in the development thread.
As for a list, I currently have a list of all available roms for our devices in the all in one thread in the Q&A section, however, it does require a bit of reorganising and I am due to get round to it soon.
I will oranise it into
Device/LB or ULB/Version
Untill then I suggest you can try any stock based ROM. Follow the T/TX link in my signature to find mine.
EDIT, Now that I have ANSWERED your QUESTION, have a guess which section it should have been posted in

Hmm, Someone mentioned that ages ago in my rom thread, not sure what it is because I dont have it on my phone. Have a search in that thread. Which phone do you have? Try turning data on and off.
To centre the clock you need a new framework, you could look in the theme and app section for a new lockscreen, but I didnt bother to centre it as I dont mind it over on the right.
This is the 3g+ icon that is not correctly inserted (i think because france have 2g/3g/3g+ and H+ logos)
I try to get a correction or I change the lockscreen if I can't move the clock.

I have been looking around here the last 2 days since I purchased a new white LT30p (9.1.A.0.489 firmware, 3.4.0 kernel, 6.0.1.2 CWM, locked bootloader). Great screen and Fast. I wanted to know if there are any roms that I could flash that have the CM/T-Mobile theme chooser. I don't want to unlock it due to it having to be done through Sony, so unless there is a rom I can flash with theme chooser or another way to unlock it,I guess I'll throw it on eBay, take loss and buy an unused white Arc S. Thanks.
Hello developers and xda members!
Some months/weeks ago I asked about rooting and warranty.I got some answers that if I unroot it or use SEUS I will not loose warranty.
This time is about roms and locked bootloaders.
If I install a CWM Recovery then flash a ROM do I void warranty? If yes is there anyway that I can make it so it's like I never flashed anything so the warranty will still last?
If yes what is the best rom I can install for LOCKED bootloader(I don't want to unlock it)?
I want a rom with good battery life + camera (I don't care if it's not 100% perfect but at least better than the stock one!)
Any answer would be helpful!
Thanks

Even if you unlock your bootlader you wont loose your warranty (if that is the reason you are not doing it).Just make a backup of your DRM keys and the unlock code and keep it safe.

I don't generally want to unlock bootloader.
Even if I don't unlock it and just install a rom(e.x Existenz) would I need to backup DRM keys?
Also can you give me a SAFE tutorial about backing them up?
I also asked about a good rom that has a good battery life and camera than the stock one.
What's your opinion about roms? What is the best based on your opinion?

If you wont be unlocking the bootlooder, you dont need the backup. Here is the thread with anything needed to get started with your phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1701644
I've never used the stock or other based on it (I use 4.3+ ROMs ), but other forum members say that Existenz is the best one out there.Currently, I am using the leaked 4.3,but it is for unlocked bootloaders.

P.S. Im not sure but I think you will still have your warranty.Back in the days, when i had my xperia x8 and it got hardbricked, I lied to my operator that it got fully discharged and it never turned on again. The trick worked and it went to Sony with a custom ROM inside of it .Anyways..today i had to revert to stock, because the tutorial for the leaked 4.3 said so, but i encountered a problem - SUS said that my phone has modified software and it didn't complete the operation.I had to flash an .ftf image file with flashtool. But after all, It was successfull.
Ehm I got a question. At the install instructions of Existenz it says
Flash the rom.
Flash NUT reboot fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2317432
Flash 12.0.A.2.254 kernel only with flashtool (see FAQ).
As I see NUT reboot fix is for Xperia Z...Do I need to install this?Do I also need to install .254 kernel only again? At the FAQ it says about How to flash 6.2.B.1.96 Kernel with flashtool <- but this kernel is for Z...What happens?
Should I flash the rom then reboot my phone and OK?
Should I flash the rom then reboot my phone and existenz rom opens and then flash the NUT reboot fix?
Should I flash the rom then instantly install the NUT reboot fix?
Should I also install the kernel (12.0.A.254)?
I am kinda confused :/

1. Flash ROM
1.b Reboot phone
2. Use .bat from NUT (I used it after OTArootkeeper failed and I couldn't mount /system r/w)
3. Flash the kernel with Flashtool
Step 1b and 2 depend on what you prefer, flashing the fix or rebooting and let the computer do the fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317432
You can use NUT for the SP. About the kernel I'm not sure. I am on LB atm.
Hope this helps (except for the kernel of course)

Well, I've no idea how much longer.. Should have been here in December..
Hi All,
I recently upgraded to the Z1 from my old S2 where I was running cyanogenmod nightlies. At first I was very happy with the phone but after upgrading the firmware to 4.3 I keep getting errors on all of my Wi-Fi networks where it says "Assosiaction Rejected" and thus without noticing I am using my mobile data instead.
So today I decided to root and install CM on it. Only thing is I can;t really find any good tutorials online on how to do so.
I will be following the instructions on Sony's page for rooting purposes, but after that I am lost.
So my questions are:
1. Where can I find a tutorial on flashing CWM or TWRP onto this device?
2. Will the CM versions under "honami" work for this phone? (C6903 with 4.3)
Apologies that I could not post any links to Sony and CM as i am a new user.
Some help will be greatly appreciated as the Wi-Fi issue is a big one for me.
Thanks,
Chris
1) Follow the instruction HERE and you will get your Recovery. Watch the Video Tutorial for Root, it explain well what to do.
2) To flash CM on your phone you have to Unlock Bootloader, if you do that you Warranty will be voided and I recommend to Backup TA first.
BTW, is not recommended to cross over from other Models the Roms, it can damage your phone.
But if you don't care about Warranty and the Risk, is up to you, flash it and see if it will work.

I have just got my SXZ1 so I can share with you chow to manage it do get CM11 and how to do it correctly.
1. You have to make sure that you have right version of stock ROM to root it.
it is has to be: 14.1.G.1.534. If you have different please flash it by FlashTool like I had
the newest stock 4.3
http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=3277&task=get
2. Now when you have right firmware version you have to root it, forexample by vRoot:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45464115&postcount=2
3. When you are root'ed make copy of your TA to backup DRM keys:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598
4. Now you can unlock bootloader:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2440597
5. Now you have do download 2 files:
CM11: http://fxpblog.co/installation/cyanogenmod/cyanogenmod-11/
GAPPS for CM11:http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Google_Apps

Hi my name is John.
I had a account here before but it seems my account has been deleted.
when i had that account i had allot of info on how to install mods and such.
Now i have a new mobile Xperia V
I am wondering if some know where i can get a tutorial on how to flash my mobile and get mods in it.
I do not want to make my own mod just so u know so im wondering if there is a tutorial on it and if some knows a nice transparent look or something.
I really would like to get the bottom bar with transparent look and with pulsating lights on the icons like the back home and shortcut icons.
I hope some can tip me on some tutorials atleast but it would be even greater if some can say good UI styles to. I would be so thankful if some can help me. i really don't like the neutral look and lac of options in the stock versions..
- Root your phone
- Install Clockworkmod Recovery
- Install Xposed Installer
- Install Gravitybox and get more UI options you ever thought about
That will also help you to learn more about your device first. Afterwards you can still take your time and look around for some other mods that can be flashed or otherwise installed permanent.
Thanks.

I've searched the forum now on how to install clockworkmod and ive found 0 results on how to do it !
I've tested to trigger volume button to get in so i can install a rom but i cant get there it just shows a purple light for 3 sec and then continues to boot up !
So there's none here can help me ?
connect your phone to PC
enable USB debugging on the phone
unzipp the file attached
click on install.bat and follow the simple instructions
Well you must be using a ROM otherwise you could not root your phone. It is the stock ROM I assume. I hope 4.1.2.

You need a ROM that can be flashed via Recovery in the first place. All ROM developers will tell you in their opening thread about the requirements. Some require flashtool, mostly those that work with unlocked bootloaders. Some require a Recovery, usually those that work with locked bootloaders (these work with unlocked BL, too).

Don't know what you are talking about. I am not an expert, so I can not do absolutely anything.

If followed the instructions you'd know what this is for.

The file u attached is called CWM4XperiaT not CWM4XperiaV
and if you don't believe me that you can root with a FTF file then i can upload it so u can test yourself..
how i did it was used flashmod in flashtool and then sellected the ftf file called LT25i_9.1.A.0.490_Nordic.ftf
after that i flashed a kernel with Fastboot called LT25_SXV_Stok_Kernel_9.1.A.0.490_Dogsly.ftf
then i just used the tool root device in flashtool and then i got root..
now my problem is that i dont have any recovery like TWRP or CWM
ive done a new question thread asking for help on how to get it..
Install the CWM attached. Wow. Anyway, up to you.
Hello everyone. I have probably the most typical question asked on these boards. I would like to root and install a custom ROM. I think anything custom will outperform the stock update I've got from Sony right now. First, my phone:
Sony Xperia SP
C5306
Android v4.3 running stock kernel
Build 0.266
With a locked bootloader
I have read a fair bit of Doomlord's info re: ROMs on LBs. (Thank you Doomlord!)
From what I understand the steps look something like this:
1 - obtain root - I think I should be able to root using Towelroot (Thank you Geohot!)
2- make backup of TA partition? - but I do not plan on unlocking my bootloader, thus this isn't required?
3- flash custom ROM using Flashtool.
Am I totally out in left field? There is soo much information! Can anyone here point me in the right direction for 0.266? I don't care about Bravia engine etc, I just want a smoother ROM.
Please be nice, as so many people have been on these boards!
Thank you from Canada!
See bro, I've seen many people say this that I'm a noob. And I've seen the same kind of thread number of times. Please search before you ask.
Just root it with towelroot and install supersu and busybox and recoveries simple. You won't lose be and other stuff

Thank you for the reply. I will do a more thorough search. Question though - with a locked bootloader I would still be able to flash a custom ROM?

Many thanks to both of you! I now have root, will install custom recovery, do a nandroid backup, and then flash a custom ROM. I just needed the proper steps, so thank you! Unfortunately I cannot upgrade the FW because my cell provider (Rogers in Canada) hasn't given the green light yet My phone has run really poorly since the latest upgrade, hence my quest to flash it.
One question, and it may be a stupid one, but do I need to install the Sony drivers for my phone? I have installed adb, SuperSU and busybox.. are Sony's drivers required? Is fastboot required? Because when I run the install.bat script and select the '1' option it loads the daemon but just sits there - my phone never asks me for SU access. What am I doing wrong, o wise ones?
EDIT: I figured it out and now have TWRP making a nandroid backup. Am very excited. Thanks everyone!
