I was looking at two phones as my choices for my next phone. The S4 is my other choice and that one hasn't been revealed yet. Should I get this phone regardless of the S4 or should I look at the S4 to prevent buyer's remorse?

Honestly - I say wait.
Either way, we will know about the GS4 before the launch of the HTC One if I'm not mistaken.
As above, if you're not too sure, you're better off waiting for the s4 so you can test both out.
Also, please post any questions in Q&A from now on.
Depends. If you're like me who liked the HTC One on a design perspective then get it now. If you look on specs or features then better wait and decide.
I can make things Simplify its almost confirm that s4 will use 4.9 or 5" screen but dafinately never yet able to made phone using complete metal unibody Samsung is about 85% plastic, afaic I never pay premium price for plastic from now as off coz HTC increase the bar in terms of premium design I don't care at all if it look more or less similar that endless comparison will never end for me how I feel personally to it is more important
Another thing S4 will never have ultra pixel or similar innovation so quick as for now like on HTC one and duel speaker and irda remote and Zoe and complete unibody will surely differentiate HTC ONE from other
For me higher GHz, more mega pixel better benchmark larger screen, card slot or any type software which feature which can be easy to port across android devices and these things can't make phone better so even thought s4 equipped everything but not htc one's premium distinct feature like irda, metal body exact size, qulity cam, ois Zoe, duel and loudest sound
I see Z and One and withing 3 min I finalize on One coz Z got poor viewing angle slow interface, too big and can't take advantage of full 5 inch coz on screen is tricky to appear and dissolved some time and taking space
I suggest don't expect too high but suggest you 'ONE'

1. Yes you're right. But samsung will be adding little aluminum on the sides of galaxy s4.
2. Samsung will indeed never have ultrapixel as that is copyrighted by HTC. Plus on my own preferences I would still prefer megapixels over this unless they balance this out. And also! Samsung was the first with the IR Remote so don't say that HTC was first. Even Xperia Z/ZL introduced them earlier than HTC.
3. Just to be fair enough with samsung. Samsung will have irda, S-Pen, multi window.
4. Z does not have poor viewing angles. It's pretty obvious you never seen it personally I could say it's only average but no not poor. And yeah the UI is not slow I didn't encounter any UI hiccups even just once when I was testing it.
And seriously? Too big? Mind you the Xperia Z is only less than 2millimeter bigger than HTC One. That's almost like as thick as the cloth/textile on your shirt.
I am not trying to go against you but I don't really like biased comments.
The Droid DNA does very well in reviews and benchmarks. Check out the YouTube videos about its reviews and benchmarks.
I have a Note 2 and it is also a good phone if you like to watch movies/shows on the go.
Getting really bored of my Samsung Galaxy S4 and am looking towards the HTC ONE.
What do you guys reckon?
Whats the battery life and camera like?
Does the metal body chip or bend or damage easily?
I also switched mate. S4 is nice but the One is even nicer.
The quality and design feel alot more premium than the S4's design and the screen is absolutely gorgeous.
Super LCD 3 is waay better then S amoled in my opinion.
Be sure to convert it to Google edition
Just do it, you wont regret
I had the s4 it was the worst phone I ever touched. From lag to cheap plastic to unoptimized software and Samsung using half of the storage I couldn't deal with it. Switched to an HTC one and never looked back and I am on att.

Battery life is slightly less than S4. The edges will chip with rough use but the metal doesn't bend. You'll feel a performance drop [reduced framerate] when playing graphic intensive games like MC4. S4 is smoother with such games. Again, ever so slightly, but noticeable nevertheless. However, overall smoothness HTC>S4. Camera... it really depends. Check out some of the camera reviews here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2167592. HTC One screen >>> S4. If you're coming from the 16GB S4, you should enjoy the 32GB of space.
And oh oh Boomsound! You should hear the speakers on this thing man. They're on a different level... just amazing!
My verdict... wait for the HTC One Max.
Didnt samsung fix the lag in there latest update? Anyways this phone feels more high end all around, hardware and software wise and also things like the tv remote seem to work better and have cleaner interface

Main thing that concerns me is the camera
I've seen samples and the S4 is much better - is this really the case for those who have switched?
Also, I can root the S4 in seconds, is it the same with the HTC?
Go to a shop and try the One M7 in your hands and see how you feel, i bought an One M7 over the G4 for the stereo speakers for when i watch a movie and it is glorious, and the screen is so good amazing detail, but i would still like an S4 if i had the money

Rooting is very easy ..just unlock bootloader through HTC dev then flasha a custom recovery...simple as that takes three mins...then you probably want to do s off

My honest opinion on the HTC camera,,, with Sense its great in low light, but its nowhere near as good as the 8mp shooter on my missus iPhone on regular old daylight pics, id even say my old Samsung Droid Charge took better pictures..... and once i went Google edition i think its worse again, kinda grainy, why not just convert your S4 into a Google Edition, im seriously thinking about going down that route, camera has been a bit of a letdown for me on the One

there are plenty of sites comparing them both. they will give you much balanced review. and no most of them never gave you a balanced view. just 2 of them did .
The camera, in my opinion, is just fine for 99% of typical usage. If you're gonna print out copies, the One will not be as good... but if you just keep them on your phone to share, text them to other people, or upload them to social media sites, the camera is more than sufficient. The low light performance is a plus as well.
Battery life is pretty damn good in my opinion. I haven't done anything to optimize my battery life, and it lasts me a whole day of medium usage. With some tweaking, people are seeing 5 to 6 hours of screen on time. If you use your phone more than that in a day, it's likely you're in need of a new job or hobby, haha.
Hardware is simply untouchable. The screen is beautiful and converted me from a huge loyalty to Samsung amoled screens. The body of the phone is gorgeous and feels awesome in the hand. The dual front speakers are not just hype... they are truly astounding.
Software was a nice surprise for me. I've always hated Sense, and thought it made phones ugly and sluggish. Sense 5 is neither. Though I use Apex launcher, HTC really impressed me with their refinements of Sense. Like others have said, the phone flies through pretty much everything except intensive gaming.
Overall, in my book, HTC won this round of flagships. They won't sell as many, but it really is a much better phone.

Here's the skinny...
If you are shooting in anything but optimal light get the One. I have been amazed at the quality level with no noise. Sunny day shooting looks great as well but it does have the slightest bit Lower quality compared to the S4
Ex - incandescent lighting in a home, cloudy skies, restaurant......

If you happen to live in the US and also happen to have a T-Mobile S4, I will trade with you. Mine is 9.5/10 condition wise. Only reason I don't give it a full 10 is because I've used it. 10/10 for me would be unused.
Anyway, if you want to swap, PM me. It would have to be a T-Mobile S4, though.

They are very different phones in a lot of ways, so there is no one answer as to which is "best". It depends on what you use it for and how you use it.
I went with the One because I liked the look and feel much more. I just don't like plastic phones anymore. Playing with them side by side, I just found the One smoother and faster.
My phone is heavily optimized, but I have no trouble going 36 hours without a charge.
The camera issue is quite polarizing. It depends a great deal on what you use your phone for. If you take photos mostly for texting and social media, the One is superior because of it's better performance across all conditions. If you use it as a replacement for a point-and-shoot camera, or expect to be able to blow up/crop the shots, the 13MP camera on the S4 is a better choice.
This is a very tough phone. I haven't bothered with a case or screen protector, and it still looks out-of-the-box new. My screen does not have a single scratch. CNET threw their test unit out of a moving bus and it survived with no more than a ding on the corner.
You may be able to root the S4 faster, but the locked bootloader on some models has inhibited development. Development on the One could not be more robust--some rom threads see 200-300 posts a day.
So, as an owner of the HTC One i'l give you a honest thought.
FIRST OF ALL - I don't know how much money you have to spend and I'm not going to get into your life, but if I was in your situation I wouldn't recommend buying the HTC One if you have the S4. It doesn't even matter if the One is a bit smoother and has an aluminium body over the s4's plastic body, at the end of the day they are both top android phones with similar specifications. I moved from the old Galaxy S1 to the HTC One, Now its just amazing how different they are I cant even explain, the HTC One is probably the best phone I've seen out there, but at the end of the day? they are just similar, running the same OS and they both are used the same.
So After giving you my opinion let me tell you this:
1. First, the HTC One is definitely the smoothest android phone I've ever seen - including the Galaxy S4. and By the way the phone runs MC4 and whatever game you pick smoothly.
2. the HTC One has the best screen I've seen, comparing to the Iphone 5, the Galaxy S4 and others - its absolutely beautiful and stunning. Moving from the S1 was a shock to me.
3. The camera is pretty good, it has nice pics though I think I would pick the S4's camera - to me its not a big deal.
4. I know its all about opinions, but the HTC one is just the most beautiful phone ever, People see it and stay with their jaws down. The thing is I might be a bit paranoid, of course after paying alot for it, I cant go commando with it so I've put a protector that should protect it the best, so I cant see how nice it looks.
5. Speakers are just crazy, but seriously, who doesn't use their headphones? and If I've talked about the headphones already I must say that the headphones that come with the One sounds amazing using the phone!!!! I never thought that I could hear so good with the phone/heads.
6. Battery Life - I must say that the battery life is amazing for me!! I'm not a heavy user at all, but my Locations and 3G/wifi are on all day long I use facebook, play some games, whatsapp, Internet, waze and the battery won't end! I usually charge the phone every second day.
So after pointing all these out, the htc one is pretty amazing and its stunning, but If I were in your situation I would keep the money and stay with the S4.
Good Luck,
Thanks guys
I'll have to have a play with one to compare

I was debating and then I was like "what was I thinking" though the camera is mediocre, and speakers are Ok, everything else is fantastic.
I was going to wait for the HTC one2, and realized that more than likely no other phone soon will be able to last as long as the z1 with their battery saving software.
to be honest with you, as much as I complain about my Z1, overall there isnt one device out there for me that tops it. Just hope that the new update will do something to the Camera and 4K vid recording is something I really really wanted, but not enough to move be back to Samsung.
I have Z1, SGS4 and used the nexus 5 for a day and a half, I will compare them below
Nexus 5 best performance but lack features
SGS4 worst performance (too much lag and stuttering) but has lots of features (most of which are useless and no-one actually uses them except to show off)
Z1 excellent performance (almost identical to the nexus 5) and has some useful features like camera apps, small apps ...etc
Although the Z1 is not perfect (nothing is perfect), but it is the best overall phone out there. I will get chance to play with the HTC ONE for few days in a week or two then I will probably be able to say what is the best phone currently available (apart from the LG G2 which I haven't had the chance to play with).
Not even considered it, got it sim free and I'm happy with it
I returned mine because I spotted a dead (or maybe stuck) pixel on the screen. I hope I'll have better luck next time.
I am very very disappointed in the camera, the speaker is actually close to top considering its a tiny waterproof speaker but I love every thing else about the Z1 so no, I didn't return my device and I wont be doing so.

Actually I had the Note 3, it is the worst mistake that I made up until now!
now the problems I had with it are more philosophical than fair, so to make it fair I'll only point out the problems that "others" consider worthy!
1. Not so great looking even though its an improvement over the S4 and Note 2
2. Has A LOT of bloat ware
3. Cheap looking/feeling device (like all Samsungs)
4. Depending on what you do with it scales form lagging a couple of times a day to constantly lagging (I couldn't handle the lag so...)
5. Bigger than most people would want it to be (I actually where okay with it mainly because I didn't called anyone with it)
6. You would look Very-Very stupid talking with it on the street or anywhere else for that matter!

mostly personally preference but Im coming from a S3 owner, but here are some of the reasons
-touchwiz, hate it with a passion, actually got to play with a real note 3 today at the store and it actually still lag a little bit like seriously lol?! Checked the ram consumption it always over 1.2+ gigs after I clear everything it goes back up quickly no wonder why they keep added more rams for all the galaxy phones. My Z1 has to be on for a couple of weeks to hit over 1 gig and generally around 0.9.
-hate OLED colors, it has gotten a lot better with the pentile problem but still not enough to bring me back. Triluminos looks better to me straight on even if you have to sacrifice the wash out colors in extreme angles which I never look at my phone that way. Plus I see color shifting problems on Note 3, like yellow would turn green in a angle, so viewing angle is not a clear victory on the note 3 neither (same with Nexus 5 and G2 which have their own problems in extreme angle when I played with them today). Didn't get to do out door test with the note 3 not sure if it become unreadable under the sun.
-Built quality, I dont think I need to say much here, just personally when I pay hundreds of dollars for a flashship device I want it to actually feel like a flagship device.
the only features in the Note 3 that I want in the Z1 is the 4K video recording, downsampling 4K video to play on 1080p screen is a huge difference. You don't need a 4K display to take advantage of it. I used to think that the multi screen features from note2 and S3 is going to make me happy with my S3 again, but after the update came out I've never use it once.... Its all personal preference so those my not apply to others.

I'm coming from Note 2, Galaxy s4 and HTC one to Sony Z1, apart from note 2 (which I liked) the other's are disappointing s4 has lag and loads of stupid features you turn off, HTC One was boring and battery life was rubbish plus I was scared to scrape or dent the metal (best sound though) . I was wanting Note 3 but too expensive and cant believe it still has lag, plus Knox! (which totally put me off s4)
Sony Z1 feels premium has a decent enough camera and battery is probably the best with the note 2 I've had.
Before I had Z1 I was waiting for Nexus 5 and was going to sell s4, but after seeing it, Z1 is much better.
Thank you all guys you opened (again) my eyes. There are just few things that make me sad about the Z1.
- camera is not so fantastic. Unless you have the stone hand just pressing the hw button from focus to shoot makes the phone shaking and the picture a little blurry. This is almost not noticeable with high lights but as soon start to be a little darker things gets worse. Thus in low lights this camera is totally incapable to take decent pictures, what you see 'good' in your screen will be post processed and 'destroyed'. No manual mode could help ATM.
- freaking hardware buttons
I can't believe that my 5" real estate triluminus 400+ DPI 1080 **** should have a damn waste of space: soft keys IMHO are the android cancer. Now I'm using a pie (after gtm) it's okay but still annoying and uncomfortable. I'll be happy to pay one dollar more and have at least a central hw button. Note that I compared twitter, Google+ and Chrome with the iPhone and on the smaller 4" there is much more space!!! This piss me off!!!!
- unlock the boot loader. I used to pay the retail price in order to not increase the US mafia of carriers. After more than a month this phone isn't really unlockable. No official words from Sony about the fact they are working for a fix or a date. This scares me.
- 2013 and our display is not oleophobic. This makes me sad even more when a friend tell me: cool phone can I see it? And my screen is a finger print fest. Tried almost any good screen protector antifinger print. None of them really works without decrease the screen quality.

Just one tip.
Don't compare N5 and Z1 now.
Wait until Z1 gets 4.4 then you'll see what Z1 is capable to do.
As I said few times, it's better to have great camera (hardware) which is fixable than great software without hardware support.
Z1 has great camera and with 4.4 update we will have the best device money can buy...
Everyone compares N5 and Z1 now and all of them are unique in conclusion - these two devices are similar but remember we are comparing 4.2.2 with 4.4 - so you can just imagine Z1 with a KitKat under the hood
It will fly
Sent from my Z1
So I happen to have all of these devices right now either in person or on order and am really having trouble deciding which to keep. I use AT&T for all of them. I was wondering, I haven't seen any direct comparisons of these three in particular - so here are the pros of each that I've noted:
Note 3:
Sick screen size
Stylus
Battery life
HTC One:
Best build quality of any phone
Amazing screen
Incredible audio
Nexus 5:
Easiest to mod
Cool feel
Cheap?
Note 3 in particular has massive flaws like all the samsung garbage on it - and I have not yet been able to figure out how to safely mod the stupid AT&T version, which is crap. What are your thoughts on this and which would you stick with?
The Note 3 is easy to remove, so you can get rid of the bloatware. The only thing that sucks is that the bootloader is locked.

The locked bootloader? It's bad, but I've come to like the stock firmware on the phone. There's no law at all, and I just removed the bloatware I don't like with root. J just hope that the bootloader will be unlocked by someone down the road. The battery life and beautiful screen make up for the locked bootloader for me.

This is exactly what I'm struggling with. If I hadn't gotten to taste 4.4 on my One and Nexus 5 I probably wouldn't care as much but I KitKat. To make things worse, I got my brother a Note 3 from Christmas so if I get rid of mine he'll be constantly reminding me of it and shaming me. Might have to stick with it though and I'm sure eventually someone will unlock the Bootloader anyway.
Note 3 is superior of the three right now. Bloatware is removable with Titanium Backup and root. Have multiview, gorilla glass 3, sd card slot (up to 64gb), and removable battery. Only thing wrong with it is, it doesn't feel natural in the hand, or you have to use two hands. Maybe its just me.
HTC One has great sound, yes but thats about it, but most of it seems like a gimmick because you have to enable the beats audio. I had one and had to be very careful with it because the phone was painted with anodized aluminium. Regardless of how careful i was, the screen had one little scratch and the paint chipped off. Sold it two days after I got it. Also, some application lagged for some reason.
Nexus 5 was my choice, because of stock and kitkat, but looking at the flaws made me decide to get a note 3. Flaws were, battery, camera, no sd card slot, no removable battery.
Besides, i mod my note 3 to look exactly like a Neuxs 5 with KitKat, with launchers, icons, fonts, status bar, etc.

Note 3/ HTC One owner. It's a matter of preference and there will be trade offs with any device.
The more lag/stutter free experience - HTC One ( Sense and the One is by far and away the better experience as far as this goes)
Unique software features- Note 3, again by far, over the One and any other phone/phablet
Screen- Toss up, both are exceptional
Build- The One obviously feels sturdy, but I replaced a few of them due to the speakers relentlessly blowing. Still, Samsung puts fake chrome trim on the phones which chips, cracks and dents. The One is better here.
Updates- Both stink. They are trying to make money, plain and simple. That said, neither company will rush to update your phone to the latest and greatest.
Dev support/tinker ability- Samsung and at&t = locked bootloader, this alone is why I just signed with at&t when the Note came out, but will be leaving in a few months. It's unacceptable. One crushes here.
Sound- obviously the One but the speakers are such garbage that I prefer the Note. I use headphones when I wanna hear music anyway
Battery life- The note 3 would win, but there are a lot of people (myself included) that are suffering some sort of wakelock on unrooted notes. Something is crushing my battery and Android OS stays awake 4-5 hours causing my battery to die in 10-11 hours of almost no use. HTC One wins here. It is simply unacceptable to still have apps and bloat causing wakelocks.
Bloat- I was with Sprint on the One so I'll do a combo here. Sprint/One is by far the better choice than Samsung/at&t. Samsung and at&t have forced so much bloat, apps taking up space, things running causing wakelocks..there is just a mess of crap on this phone that does god knows what.
Camera- both are great, both are annoying as well. They take too long to take good pictures. They both have issues focusing at times. When they both work correctly, it's even as far as quality, but Samsung smokes the One in the features category
All that being said. I prefer my Note and sold the HTC One, partly due to the fact that I've rolled with HTC since the Hero but have grown tired of the issues they're having, partly due to the unique software features the Note has. They both have glaring issues. It's a matter of which ones you choose to accept.

All that being said. It's not just Samsung phones that at&t is locking the bootloader on. The one x had a locked bootloader and I'm pretty sure their htc one does as well as it would follow suite

It's funny I should stumble across this thread. I'm looking at my Nexus 5 right now, struggling to find a reason not to send it back. I just switched back to my Note 3 and it has been freezing on me for no reason. And I have seriously been considering buying another HTC One because I really liked that phone and regret selling it.
For me, it's like this:
Note 3
Apps/Accessories/Hardware compatibility is best - My fitbit, all new app updates, cases, etc.
Fast
Camera takes great photos and has great features
S Pen
Multi Window
Awkward to use one-handed
HTC One
Speakers are the bomb
Wonderful screen
Fast and fluid all the time
Love Sense as a skin
Camera is fast and has some great features, though not as robust as the Note 3
Good size for one-handed use
Camera does not produce great detail
Slow to charge
Nexus 5
Kitkat
Unlocked Bootloader
Fast and fluid
Great bargain
Camera is iffy. Camera app his horrendous. And I can't find a replacement app that I like.
Battery life has been disappointing
Screen is slightly washed out, especially compared to AMOLED screens and LCD screens like the G2 and HTC One
Speaker is pathetic
My current obsession is a phone that takes fast pictures. The Nexus 5 takes so long to focus and has such a slow shutter that every single picture I take of my dogs is blurry (they're always moving). The Note 3 doesn't have this issue and the HTC One snaps super fast photos as well. Also, the burst mode on the Note and One is great, second only to the iPhone 5s, in my opinion.
I have pretty much decided to send my Nexus 5 back to Google. I was set on replacing it with my Note 3, but then I started to get the random freezes and can't seem to pinpoint the cause. The One is looking mighty tempting right now, especially since I can land one in like-new condition for $300. I never had any problems with my One. I just wasn't thrilled by the photo quality (detail) and newer phones came out that caught my attention. I'm starting to think that I was hasty selling it.
I have the gs3. I love the phone. It is still a good phone just like I miss my old htc evo. I was thinking about upgade to the GS5. What better than specs. The look and feel is the same. I mean the software. It nothing different. What you think pro and cons. im iffy on picking another galaxy or might go back to htc.
I understand your situation, I more or less was in the same place as you. I had the HTC one S and it was a great phone, built quality and the ui was superb. I went then to the S3, good phone not as good as the one S( the lag ?) but it had more features.
I went for a upgrade last week and I was in between the One M8 and the S5, the HTC is more snappy and it looks beautiful but then again I choose a galaxy, why? Well.... The features and camera but essentially the removable battery...
I guess in the end you will have to go through the same process and see which features you value more, what fits me may not fit you and I guess there no right or wrong here.

I have the SGS3 too and am looking to upgrade.
The SGS5 feels more of the same Samsung experience, and I want something better.
I would choose another brand: HTC, Motorola, LG, Sony...
I hate the build quality of the SGS5, the AMOLED screen (I hate saturated colors), the hardware home button and capacitive buttons instead of on screen buttons, the annoying USB flap cover, the chrome bezel that will wear off and look terrible in 2 years just like in my SGS3, TouchWiz is still the worst skin (looks and performance and it takes a LOT of RAM compared to other skins), etc.
I'm looking to buy the X+1 or maybe Moto G2.
I had the S3 and S4, and now the S5.
I liked each one more than the previous one, and each one had better battery duration than the previous one.
I felt a better upgrate from the S4 to S5 than from the S3 to the S4.
I love the S5 camera, and the samsung software and apps.
I think you will like it a lot, personally i am already wanting the S6, (Hopping for at least 20MP camera, would love more ), i will keep my S5 as a tablet and spare phone, since i like it a lot.
I use it with touchwiz and havent rooted it yet, i will after i get the S6, since i will only need root for tablet functions i will use.

What are you talking about? GS5 has THE best screen as of today. If you choose the cinema mode, you get perfect color saturation.
If I want to get picky, then here it is...
HTC : hate camera and fugly internal build (they use too much tape)
Moto : also hate camera, old hardware (i don't care how optimized the software is, I'm not paying for old hardware), no sdcard, no removable battery.
LG : too large for my taste.
Sony : hasn't come out for VZW. no removable battery
G3 cons
Screen

Plastic body
No waterpoof
Lags
Pros
Thin bezels
OIS
S5 cons:
No OIS
PWM (240 ghz flickering at medium and low brightness) (perhaps fixed in LTE-A)
Not good calibration (In LTE-A almost fixed, in Galaxy Alpha even better than LTE-A)
Plastic body (fixed in Galaxy Alpha)
Oversaturate and rosiness in some situations in camera (fixed in Galaxy Alpha)
pros:
Oled (ideal response time (good in video), ideal black color, ideal contrast, ideal viewing angle, all much better than lcd)
Isocell (better detailing and awesome ideal colors if the firmware is normal (Alpha)
Waterproof
I have both, If you want FLUID, GS5 my S5 is as fluid as hell... Very nice experience, touchwiz is basically the same but speed and zappiness is much better, Screen quality is AMAZING, and camera\video? LOL you will laugh when you compare the S3 with the S5
I was in same place. Felt tired after my S3 with samsung. But in end wasn't impressed with HTC, windows options were pants and apple? Rather eat glass.
Got the S5 and haven't looked back. Faster, better screen and way better battery. As for the size. You quickly get use to it. Fits in my pocket fine. Holding S3 now, just feels tiny.
I've had the S5 since it came out and upgraded from the S3. The two biggest differences for me are the camera and screen quality. Those two things alone made me satisfied with the upgrade. Its also noticeably faster than the S3 and the water resistance is also nice. I haven't had a chance to play with any of the newer HTC phones so I can't offer any information there but overall I'm happy with the S5.
I have a sgs3 and the touchwiz is kinda laggy and also the preinstalled apps of samsung. My question is did samsung make any improvement in the touchwiz on kitkat? Did you see any difference? Is it any faster than the s3? Im thinking buying the note 4 but im worried about the touchwiz beeing slow and laggy

I think touchwiz definitely runs better on the S5 compared to the S3. I also rooted mine soon after buying it and removed most of the preinstalled stuff, so that helped as well.

I'm completely in agreement with santa_claws the touchwiz experience is much more fluid. I too graduated from the s2 > s3 > s4 > s5 and with each upgrade I've come to expect more from Samsung. To my surprise they outdid themselves with the s5.
Being a juice freak I am STUNNED at the battery life. The screen display? omg. The camera? Fagetaboutit. Upgrade bro. Trust me. It will alter your view of the universe.

+1 :good:
I love the S5 camera, and the fact that its waterproof
I had the S3 when it came out 2 years ago, I don't miss it at all. I'm coming from the Nexus 5 which was smooth as hell. You need some light mods on the S5 to make it even. Beside that, it's probably the best device I've owned. Awesome camera, waterproof, got plenty of videos underwater when I was in the south. Good battery life way better than the S3,you have air gesture, etc...

Yeah the camera and screen are pretty impressive. Before buying the phone I looked at some sample shots and didn't understand what all the hype was about. But then I realized that I was viewing the pics on my S3 with a lower resolution screen, lol. Once I viewed them on a decent quality screen I saw the huge difference.
And you are spot on about battery life. Much improved although I still carry an external battery with me for days of heavy use.
Lol yes that would definitely play a factor. Shoot I went a step further, I force fit an extended battery with an otterbox Defender case by cutting out a portion of the hard plastic. Works great and battery life is outstanding!

I usually carry the external to charge my other devices (bluetooth headphones, tablet) but thats only when I have my bookbag with me. For the times I'm without my bag I like your idea. Would you mind posting your battery stats with your setup? Maybe I'll give it a try.
