Hi guys,
Have you experienced that your volume bar when changing volume for media gets stuck (volume still changes but not the onscreen bar)?`
Happens for me for example with Spotify and Youtube.
Any solutions?
Thanks!

Hey everyone. I have an issue with my phone. When i go to change my ringtone volume from the homescreen, it changes the media volume. I reboot the phone and it adjusts the standard volume for the ringtone. After a while, it goes back to only adjusting the media volume from the homescreen. Even after i use advanced task killer to kill all applications. Is there any way to fix this issue? It is becoming very annoying to have to reboot my phone 3 times a day. Thanks again!
if you have headphones in then it will change media volume, do you have your heaphones or any other device connected to you phone?
nope not at all. I mean i love the phone but this is getting crazy. I still have a worthless GPS after flashing the new files and this issue going on. I think its software related because the media volume doesnt get stuck after inserting any headphones in the jack. So i really have no idea.
same here.
Was about to post the same issue.
Somehow I get the "media volume" instead of "ringer volume".
If I reset the device it gets fixed.
If a play a game, and then exit, it gets screwed again.
Checked for any app in memory but its empty.
Whats wrong?
Thanks in advance.
The volume rocker checks for what activity you're doing currently. If you're using media player or Navigation or games, the volume will be 'Media Volume'. If you played a game and exited, and your volume stuck with the 'Media Volume', it is probably the issue with that game who didn't properly reset the environment when exited.
Note, even if you're on Home screen, if you still have those apps running, your volume will stay that way. If you want to change ringer volume, just lauch phone dialer and change there.
Thanks for your reply foxbat
Thats what I thought too. That there should be somehting in the background still running so the phone still thinks its on it so the volume would be set to media.
However, I have 0 active apps running and even when I go to phone mode the control buttons on the side still shows media volume instead of ringer.
Thanks again for your time mate.

Your issue seems to be related to a particular game you played. That's the issue with game itself.
Gonna test it out a bit more.
Hi!
Wonder if this is a software bug or not. When I change the in call volume on my Nexus 6 the volume changes but the volume meter on the phone doesent show the change until it has dissapeared and i press the volume button again.
You have this aswell?

Mine goes up and down with each key press. I am pretty much stock but rooted with Light Flow and double tap to wake. Motorola 64GB on Verizon running 5.0.1.

Never faced such issue
Hello.
I've had this problem for a while now but can't fix it.
Basically my volume buttons can change the volume of my phone even though the screen is off and "locked" (just lockscreen).
I can't imagine this is meant to be like this? It means my phone goes to full silent all the time when it's just in my pocket.
I think the problem came with lollipop because this introduced volume change from vibrate to silent mode by pressing the volume down button.. apparently in my pocket only the volume down button is pushed - and why I never noticed it on kitkat.
Thanks

So you have this 'problem' as well? It's not a bug on only my phone?

its not a bug just the option that you can control the volume even if the phone is locked
You should not wear those skinny jeans!
Never ever had this kind of problem since the Zs` volume buttons are quite unlikely to be pressed unintentionally.

Why would you ever want to control the volume if your phone is locked? It only allows for unwanted volume change

For example if you are listening to music and you dont want to pull the phone out of your pocket.
Maybe there is something with the vol button sensitivity

Ok sure but that's media volume not ringer volume. They are separate.
Anyway I wrote a tasker script to force lock my volume when screen is on but locked. And it disables this force lock when screen is unlocked. Tasker to the rescue once again

what the vol buttons depend on is what you are currently using for example: If you are using the Music app then the control the media vol and if you dont use anything then they control the ringer vol but nevertheless I am glad you found a solution

Exactly.
So it should be: when using music, allow volume buttons. If no music: lock buttons.
volumes increases whenever I press power button while playing music using headphone. I am facing this issue very often. Any update from anyone...?

I have a similar problem.
CM nightly
I had this problem but i solved it
Setting-> Lock Screen-> disable display music visualizer
Is anyone else having the same problem? I will launch YouTube or any music playing app or even the ringtone but the volume will play at normal volume for like 10 seconds then automatically level down drastically. Any solution will be greatly appreciated.
P.s its nothing to do with the buttons bcoz the volume slider still displays full volume. and if its the android volume protection feature how do you disable it on the device?
