UPDATE Reading some facebook page, I found that over december our device would get android 4.3 instead of 4.2
I know it's hard to believe, but waiting didn't kill anyone.

I don't know if there is already any official thread about it, but we could let this one for everyone to contribute with news and rumors about android updates from Samsung.
For what I've seen there is a bunch of people expecting JB 4.3. Seems more possible everyday!

It doesn't officially say they'll update our phones to 4.3, but I'm pretty sure thats what that tweet means.
when i see it here http://live.samsung-updates.com/index.php?device=GT-I8190
then i will believe it
until then i am not going to bother hoping, assuming or even justifying that this phone will get 4.3
Don't know if I wanna believe it or it just makes sense, but android 4.3 is not a really big update. Actually, it looks that google is releasing it in order to decrease the fragmentation problem. So it's not insane that Samsung wants to skip 4.2 and go straight to 4.3.
just chillax guys! ...the important is, we will have an update! .... why not enjoy rooting your phone, try all custom roms and themes while waiting for this update?

Sammobile is not Samsung's official twitter. It's sammobile, the Samsung fansite. Is there an official source for this rumour yet?

Theres a new one click root solution floating around called Kingo Android Root. The website states it works on all version up to & including 4.3. It also includes a good number of sammy devices in its supported list. Im wondering if it will work for the ATT note 3 which doesnt have a root solution yet. Im willing to guinea pig it when I get my device but was just wondering if anyone happened to try it on a different version?

If the bootloader is locked it isn't going to work until an exploit is found.
Looking into it on other forums its said to be working on several bootloader locked phones specifically the xperia z. I dont see how the bootloader would affect it as its not tryingnto install recovery or anything other then granting superuser access.

This root method works on the S4 with locked boot loader. Of we can't get recovery at least root access for ROM tool box will be nice.

I wonder if you can disable or force stop knox through the app manager and then try to do it. Hopefully mine gets here today so I can mess around with it. I live like 2 blocks away from an AT&T store if something goes wrong haha

SRS Root claims via their twitter and website that KOT49H.N900AUCUCNC2 is now rootable as of 1-April. Has anyone tried this method?

Same here. The app says successful but no root on the phone.
Tried to download it... Got this.... FYI
EDIT:
This is possibly part of the method the software uses to gain root access...
I have never heard of this before. Things like this make me nervous. I like recognized XDA developers showing me how to root. Got a screen shot of NC2 being rooted.

T-Mobile doesn't lock their bootloader. Is there some reason to believe that will change with Android 5.0? It certainly will undo root.

Ive been a HTC guy. new to Samsung and I have the at&t version, I want to return it and get T mobile again. I just wanted to know if this was going to be for nothing, after the lollipop update.
It's been so mush fun hex editing, s-off and all that stuff. and if it will continue after the update. from what I've read they are changing the way the kernel boots up.
thanks for the help.
again I am just a 55 year old fart who wants to customize my $700.00 phone the way I want not at&t's way.

there might not be any other way; after all, 5.0 encrypts your entire phone, so one could assume the bootloader has to be locked for that to happen..
we'll see in a few weeks, most likely

well, no one HAS to take an OTA update, and, if you are rooted, make sure you do NOT take the update..
If you are rooted and on a custom rom, the odds are you wont even get a notification that there is an update..

In past TMO Samsung phones, custom recovery changed the Current Binary setting from Samsung Official to Custom. That alone disabled OTA updates. I suspect it's the same on the N4.Perhaps someone who rooted prior to the NJ7 update can confirm.

t mobile bootloader is already unlocked
and yes ,you can still root after you take the update; all the new roms are based on the updated firmware anyways..

Just be sure to read the posts about s-health and private mode. If you can, don't use s-health until after you root and if you plan on using it, disable secure storage in wanam. Otherwise you're going to get some annoying lag.
Also if you're going to flash a custom ROM and want to use the fingerprint scanner, make sure you use the scanner on the stock ROM first. Folks are having issues on custom ROMs if they've never used the scanner beforehand.
