Was installing Insert Coin 4.4 GE rom and when it finished it wen't back to CWM. It said something about loosing root and I hit back because I was scared it didn't flash right and it just rebooted by itself. Now its stuck in a bootloop between trying to load CWM and the ROM. I can get into Hboot and selecting recovery there makes the same thing happen. I am on a T-Mobile HTC One 32gb s-on with h-boot 1.44
I really need your help XDA!
Command promp cant recognize device!
I finally got drivers to install and ran the command " fastboot erase cache " in fastboot mode and CWM started working again and I was able to restore a backup. All is good now.
Close thread please

Hi
Due to a bootloop on my Inc S running Cyanogen 7 i wanted to flash a new recovery and a new os. But when I try to flash the image via fastboot, the message "FAILED (remote: Image update error)" appears. It's also impossible to erase partitions via fastboot due to an "erasing error". I tried to flash with adb, but the device isn't listed in adb devices .
I also tried to update HBOOT from version 6.13.1002 to 2.00.0000 using a PG32IMG.zip on the sd card, but it hangs on the "Dont power off" dialog.
I'd be happy if someone could help me out...
Thanks and greez

Since you have Rvolutionary S-Off, you cannot simply overwrite the HBOOT with stock 2.00.0000. You need to follow this procedure:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15732727&postcount=14
Then you would able to use the PG32IMG.zip.
I actually dont wan't to get S-ON, but do you think that it will be possible to flash a new recovery and rom after updating the HBOOT?
If your bricked than its definately worth trying. Sounds to me like your internal memory has some kind of error on it if you can't wipe. And it might not be hung when you try to flash the pg32 as it as it says don't power off and you did anyway you might own an unbrickable phone.

That depends on if you can update the HBOOT. In order to make your current HBOOT 6.13.1001 overwritable, you need to follow the procedure steps 1-2d in the procedure I posted.
If that doesn't work, then there is no sense trying to go on. As the previous posted suggested there is something wrong with your phone's partitions.
If it does work, then I would defintely run a stock RUU to get back to a known working state.
thank you for your answers, i just tried the procedure.
Since the first link is down i wasn't able to install the RUU, so i just tried the second step but i got again the "remote: image update error"
Does this mean my phone is definitely bricked?

Yes it appears that you are unable to flash any of the partitions on your phone, including the HBOOT partition.
Do you have another PC and USB cable to try just to rule out that those aren't causing an issue? If you do, make sure you have the latest HTC drivers installed.
didn't work but thanks for your help anyway

There's no harm in trying a ruu

try fastboot boot recovery.img
where recovery.img is the recovery image CWM or 4EXT
this wont flash the image..i will just push the recovery on your mobile and then would start it..then try to format all the partions
and can u provide us with all details..like exactly how the error happened..???
and is your phone under warranty..??
i just tried to boot the cwm via fastboot.
the phone vibrated 8 times, three android dudes on a skateboard appeared and the phone rebooted into HBOOT.
I tried also this RUU: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705913, but it results in a 171 USB Error...
The phone isn't under varranty anymore.
How the error occured: I was browsing around, when suddenly whatsapp crashed. So i rebooted the phone and it was stuck in a bootloop. Then i tried to flash a new rom and the error occured
edit: after following to this guide here http://community.htc.com/na/htc-forums/android/f/113/t/10043.aspx, i was able to flash the device using the RUU. But I couldn't use the phone due to crashing processes (mostly android.process.arcore), so I rebooted. Now the phone is stuck again in a bootloop...
try installing the RUU again...and if possible if you are installing a custom rom please wipe all partition ,cache and dalvik cache...
and try booting the mobile withouth the sim card...lets see if it works
i just tried it, with the same result
hello guys, i really need help with this last few steps of rooting my phone.
from here,http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1625841
in step 4. flash recovery downloaded aboved by using this command: fastboot flash recovery recovery_for_1.28
i get the error message as per the title
now before i tried to flash the recovery 1.28, i flashed another recovery from o' brian's. would this cause any problems that would lead to the error message above? i assumed that flashing a new recovery would just overwrite the old one.
when i flashed the recovery from o'brian's, it says waiting for device or something similar to that. then i proceeded to go into recovery as instructed. however, my phone simply turns off. when i have to turn it back on manually, nothing changed.
can any kind soul please enlighten me?

Note what kind of hboot do you have, check your bootloader, if you have Hboot 1.25 then the functional and recommended Recovery for you is by Paul O'Brien, if you are on Hboot 1.28 then the recommended one is bue unlimited.io, if you are lazy to search for them, you have them included in this tool, i really can't understand why people doesn't use this, as it is free and keeps you away from lots of searching, many threads are old, many procedures are old so the guide recommended by me for everything is the guide by stona15, this one
Hope this helps

I'd really be willing to help.. but I leave the internet for a week in a few hours... so I won't be able to help you anymore... so after this answer, I can only help you a week later again.
But secondly:
-Download HTC Sync(http://www.htc.com/www/software/htc-sync-manager/)
-Intall it with EVERY component!
-Then uninstall the HTC Sync Manager again, but DON'T uninstall the drivers!!!
-You may proceed a restart to avoid any registry etc. related problems...
-Then connect your phone to the PC and try to get fastboot working...
-Befor you flash a new recovery, type this command:
Code:
fastboot erase cache
-Then flash TWRP(2.6.3.3):
http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7
(Thanks to your awesome work TeamWin)
-Now you can flash a new OS.. or maybe you can also let a RUU do it's work if you have S OFF..
BUT FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY ONLY FLASH A ROM BELOW 4.4 KITKAT(BEST IS 4.3) BECAUSE 4.4 WITHOUT S OFF WILL OCCURE IN A SOFTBRICK
(Stock OS from here: http://android-revolution-hd.blogspot.ch/p/android-revolution-hd-mirror-site-var.html)
(Thanks to @mike1986. for your awesome work)
I hope this worked...
If not... I am back in a week...
A thanks if I brought you a step further would be appreciated

Hey, relax! This happened to me as well, and i found the solution to be very easy. While in bootloader, make sure you connect it to your computer (it should say "FASTBOOT USB", navigate to the ADB folder in the command prompt (on your computer). The easy way is to hold down ctrl and right-click in the ADB folder (assuming you are using Windows) and select open command prompt. Now type "fastboot erase cache". Your issue is now fixed, go into recovery and flash your stock rom if you don't have any relevant backups. And if you want to flash kit-kat, MAKE SURE TO USE TWRP 2.6.3.3 That's it, let me know if you need more help!

Sometimes we have to reboot our PC, shutdown all background/ auto start programs before windows will function properly.
Be sure you have updated your firmware and recovery to 4.4 compatible versions.
flash firmware in RUU mode.
flash recovery in RUU mode.
erase cache in fastboot.
powerdown.
boot into bootloader.
select recovery.
powerdown.
say yes to superuser inststall.
boot into bootloader.
select recovery.
WIPE !!
use OTG or sideload your ROM. then install
Wipe dalvek and cache.
powerdown.
IF YOUR ARE S-ON boot to bootloader once more and flash the boot image from your ROM.
reboot
DONE.

i was flashing my phone with a 4.4 viperone rom, and performed a nandorid back up prior to the flash.
Installation failed and i was forced to reboot the phone, now when it loads it brings up TWRP for a few seconds and loops.
is there anything I can do to resolve this ? i cant get into recovery itself to flash a custom Rom but can access HBOOT 1.44.
i have S-On.

First if you want help, change your thread title to something more specific like: ''Help - bootlooping after custom rom flash''
Did you wiped cache? What version of twrp are you using?

Thanks very much for getting back to me, after 12 long hours of research and getting my head around it, i finally found a solution!
In a nut shell this is what i did to resolve the issue:
installed ADB and Fastboot drivers
flashed a recovery img using fastboot
in recovery TWRP, used ADB to push a custom rom to my sd card
flashed with custom recovery and installed OS
What wasnt made clear was the fact that you need to be in a custom recovery (TWRP or CWM) in order for the ADB drivers to work. I was stuck for a number of hours troubleshooting why fastboot would detect my device (fastboot devices) and ADB wouldnt! It was only when i had my phone connected to my windows machine and phone was in TWRP, i could talk to my device and run adb shell, and adb push.
thank god that little cookie is over, heart attack and a loss of my Sunday, but all good now
Hi, I have tried being clever and rooting my HTC ONE Mini, which all went perfectly well. Unlocked Bootloader and installed TWRP.
I found a radio update on a website and tried installing it, with S-ON. As you can imagine I am not stuck in Bootloop.
I somehow managed to wipe all the data off my phone and sdcard too.
So I am stuck with a phone in bootloop with recovery from TWRP.
Everytime i try and fastboot flash any file even an Android ROM.zip it doesnt like it. I am novice at this so you are probably reading this and think what is he doing.
Can someone help me or guide me to getting my phone back and running again. Please??

You can't use fastboot to flash a rom.zip! It must be pushed to your phone (use either adb push or adb sideload from recovery) and installed from custom recovery.
Btw this is the wrong forum for your device. Htc one mini forum is here
