Hi, I'm using Xperia TX with .197 firmware (unlocked BLoader). I noticed that after downloading images from the internet to my phone, the "album" didn't show those new images. I had to reboot the phone for them to show up. Is there any way to make the library auto-update or any magic button to update it?
:fingers-crossed: Thanks

Have you tried stopping the app, then relaunching it? I believe this will force a media rescan.(settings, apps, force stop)

thank you Baz, for reminding me of this workaround, I haven't seen this problem since my x10 days.
But it feels weird to be doing that everytime I download media from the net. It's a $500+ phone after all. Do you have this problem at all or is it just me?

I must admit I have not tried it yet, but I did notice that when I deleted a few images I had on my ext sd card they still showed up in album, perhaps it is unavoidable, otherwise media's scan would have to run constantly!?

MY XZ keeps pulling pics from whatsapp into the ALBUM app on XZ..how to stop that?
There'll be a bunch of folders on the storage area, you need to put a blank file called " .nomedia " in there to stop it from looking in that folder.

**** man..i really need this..some random 'adult' pics turn up in my albums
Download quickpic from the playstore and use that to place the nomedia file as suggested by gemdog. It works.

It only work if you using quickpic to view picture, stock album apps still showing the content from whatapps.
This is a big security bug from SONY..Why does no one complain about it?
No one is complaining because it's not the fault of Sony. Whatsapp is the problem here not Sony or the lack of complaints.

is there any other solution to this up to date???
its really annoying...
I wish there was some way to exclude folders from view in the stock album viewer also.
You can download a hacked version of whatsapp and it has an option to disable that. On top of that, the photos you upload are not compressed, so it's the full hd photo when others download it.
I think it's called whatsapp plus or +

Just for the record the problem also happens on Galaxy phones, this isn't a sony problem it's a whatapp problem.
Bless, did you clear media storage app data after creating .nomedia file and restart the phone and wait again to do the scan?? Obviously if you create the file and not reset the media storage index of filed I'll keep loading them.

just copy the .nomedia file from whatsapp\video and try https://play.google.com/store/apps/...1bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS51YmVydWxsdS5yZXNjYW5zZCJd
I think he means that the phone auto download sended pics... Its a whatssapp issue and not a very cool one if you ask me, i downloaded whatsapp plus from androis hacking/apps threat and ticked auto download off!

I had tried to make my Keyguard go off when I'm at my home wifi, and it simply doesn't work. I'm using tasker and I'm using the same profile as I did on my SGS2 and that was perfect but the HTC One is a bit more trouble some with this setting. If anyone has done this and got it to work successfully please include it. Much appreciated to sharing your time.

I am having the same problem with tasker, I am gonna try older version of tasker!!
I just started using Tasker... and it really works funkily. I have used Tasker itself and Secure Settings, both, to disable the keyguard when I am connected to my WIFi... And sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes while I am using the phone and hit the Android Home button, it actually goes to the Pattern input lock screen.
I am using CM10 with Action Launcher on a Samsung Galaxy Nexus 16gb GSM
For the past week or so, my Media Server keeps acting up and I really couldn't find a way to stop it. I don't know if it's a corrupted file or aoo that's causing this issue.
I have deleted Google Currents and Google Drive. Turned off Google now. All I have syncing is contacts, app data and keep.
What could be causing this? I took out my SD card and formatted it, didn't seem to help, I have not inserted my SD card since.
Please help me stop my Media Server from eating my battery
Are you using sonys stock rom? If so its normal to have it running... But it shouldnt be a real battery hog.... Some apps use it if im not mistaken for other processes. How many screen on time are you getting?
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app
I'm having 3 hours of screen on time and screen takes up 51%
Media Server takes up 20% and can sometime go up to 30+%
Battery at 41% at the time of measurement
I'm using RomAur 8.0 with doomkernel.
I had the same problem with media server, and yesterday I deleted the xperia facebook account in the settings. Today media server seems to be normal.
Maybe the facebook integration was causing this behavior!
...but maybe this was just a damn coincidence...
Sony Xperia ZL C6503, rooted, 4.2.2 Stock
I don't have Xperia Facebook account in my settings under "All"
if u go into settings to uninstall it, is there not a tick box to stop it running?
Nope, its an android process I think

I have always used sound feedback, never saw any problem there :/ But does it really help?
Just try it....many people fixed the problem this way

Should I turn off touch sounds also?
Yes, it is the plan

Try freezing the Mirror Link Service, that works for me.
...Sent from Zed
I do not have Mirror Link Service in my all tabs, I think the dev removed all the bloatware
disable all haptic feedback (sounds and vibrations), copy your media to pc and delete form phone than copy back to phone. might not help but worth trying

For me it helped to put .nomedia files in all folders that weren't for pictures, music or videos.

I had my phone on full charge watched YouTube videos for awhile and I noticed mediaserver was consuming more battery than my screen, is that normal?
Edit: After using the phone for awhile, media server is still taking a big part of my battery
Install better battery stats or wakelock detector and post some screenshots.

In the 3 hours of screen on time what are you doing?
I have been searching everywhere for a flashable zip preferably that would change those foolish water droplet sounds when you dial a phone number to the regular (DTMF)?? Tones I believe its called. My setup is in my Sig.. Anybody that knows how I can do this is elite, amazing and awesome!!! Lol.
Subscribed, old school.
And get off my lawn!
Me too, without luck. I finally gave up and installed Swipe Dialer, which has the DTMF tones. But its functionality is a bit different than the stock dialer, so I hope some sharp developer can help out here. My guess is you have to decompile and edit the secphone.apk (but that's just a guess)

Swipe Dialer looks useful, but it doesn't seem to have call-blocking, and shows previously blocked calls in the logs tab.
I'll give it a try for a few days, though. Thanks.

Close, it's actually the SecContacts.apk... I found this but I don't think it will work..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1361687
I've been playing around with dialers in the Play Store, and my new favorite is exDialer by modoohut. It doesn't have the blacklist option, but you can copy the undesired number to the clipboard thru the share function and then simply paste it into your call settings as a rejected number. Everything else about the app, however, is fantastic, including, of course, the DTMF tones!
