Hey dude,
Alright this is what you need to do:
I assume you're using At&t STOCK ROM (4.1.1)
1. Root Your phone (look in xda how to root it)
2. Download SQlite Editor from Play Store (it's a paid app but well worth it)
3. open SQlite Editor and Grant Superuser permission.
4. Now, you will see a list of all the apps installed in your phone
5. Scroll down until you find "SETTINGS STORAGE". The icon will be a wrench and a red hammer. click on it.
6. Now you will see "settings.db" click on it.
7. You'll see 3 items listed. Click on "settings"
8. now you'll see a list (an excel looking list). Find "ENTITLEMENT_CHECK" (line 57 for me)
9. you will see a 1 next to it. Change that "1" to "0" or "disabled" without the quotations. ( 0 worked for me)
10. Reboot.
11. Go into homescreen>settings>tethering&mobile hotspot
12. enable
13. ENJOY!

maybe not a video... but here is what you'll need to root it. It's called motochopper from Dan Rosenberg (djrbliss)
http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/topic/15208-root-motochopper-yet-another-android-root-exploit-412/
The Motochopper exploit is attached to this thread. It may be used as follows:
1. Download motochopper.zip (link above)
2. Extract the entire contents of the zip file.
3. If you are using Windows, ensure you have installed the latest Motorola USB drivers available for your phone.
4. Ensure USB Debugging mode is enabled on your device.
5. If you are using Windows, navigate to the extracted directory and execute "run.bat". If you are using Linux or OS X, navigate to the extracted directory in a terminal and execute "./run.sh".
As always, future OTA updates may remove the ability to regain root access, so proceed with caution when updating. Enjoy!

It seems that for carriers other than AT&T in addition to changing entitlement_check to 0 you also need to change dun_apn_changeable to 1 and add ",dun" to your APN type (or create a copy of it with ",dun" added).

Loki is an instance of being able to use a custom recovery w/o unlocked BL. Coming from an i337, you begin to assume boot loader unlock isn't likely.

did SRSRoot install the SuperSU if so check your settings "Application Manager" in settings, if SuperSU is installed as a user app it will be listed in the "Downloaded" section if it is installed as a system app it will be in the"All" section.
or run a file explorer like esfile explorer that will allow you to view the /system/app folder (you cant write to it but you can still read from it) check and see if Supuser.apk exists in /system/app, if it does that means that at some point the srsroot app is gaining R/W access to system.

I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR PHONE OR ANY DAMAGE INCURRED FROM APPLYING THIS.
Due to the popularity of my exploit for the Droid Maxx/Ultra on this line of phones, I decided to make one for you guys.
Prerequisites:
Rooted RAZR M on Kit Kat 183.46.10
You will not be able to do this on stock phones.
1. Download Root Explorer by Jrummy in the Play store.
2. Download the correct tether zip for your build attached to this post.
3. Go into Root Explorer and find System folder, find priv-app, inside priv-app long press VZWEntitlementServices.apk and VZWEntitlementServices.odex rename to VZWEntitlementServices.apk.bak and VZWEntitlementServices.odex.bak and back out to first folder.
4. Go to sdcard folder, download and find tether.zip that you downloaded from step 2. Extract the build.prop, copy it and back out to the home folder. enter the system folder. Rename the build.prop that is there to build.prop.bak, then paste the one you extracted from the zip.
5. Long press on the file and hit permissions in the menu. change permissions Owner: Read/Write, Group:Read, Others: Read (should show rw-r--r--)
6. Exit out of root explorer
7. Reboot
8. Check the tether it should work.
9. PROFIT! Thank baby jesus and buy me a beer lol
10. Donations are appreciated to TopSnake
confirmed
works, even in a different country without Verizon networks!
THANKS! i'm sure this will come in handy for so many people!
Thank you kindly for your time putting this together... I apologize for my ignorance yet I have to ask prior to trying this out... I'm sitting on 182 rather then 183 would I still be able to get this going?

Will it work only when a sim card is introduced?
I mean, for example I want to use SuperBeam app to send files via wifi, it works with all my devices without a sim card.

Use the phone without a sim card and try enabling hotspot.
This is what I did
1. I Downloaded Root Explorer by speedsoftware in the Play store.
2. Downloaded the 182 tether zip
3. In Root Explorer System/priv-app, I renamed VZWEntitlementServices.apk and VZWEntitlementServices.odex to VZWEntitlementServices.apk.bak and VZWEntitlementServices.odex.bak.
4. In download folder I opened 182 tether.zip, Extracted the build.prop. In the system folder renamed the build.prop that is there to build.prop.bak, then paste the one I extracted from the zip.
5. I set permissions to new build.prop to (rw-r--r--)
6. Exit out of root explorer
7. Reboot
8. Nothing happens, all options are unavailable as before.

Grab a logcat, it'll show the actual reason why it's failing.
You can also install it through ADB (or `pm` from a terminal emulator), that'll directly give you the exact error.
