Hi. I just flashed Cyanogen mod 10.1.3 on my LG Optimus 4X HD. The problem is that now when I connect it to my computer, it doesn't read correctly what is on the internal memory and SD card. It's hard to explain but basically only certain things show on the internal memory and SD card. For example, I have a bunch of files on my SD card (I double checked by connecting it directly to my computer) and all the files are there, but when I look at the data on my phone, it either shows some things or none at all. And when I try adding something to the internal memory or SD card through my phone, it shows that it's there but it actually isn't. I'm sorry if I didn't explain it well, just ask questions if you need more information. Please help.

if u cant explain it better then show us with screenshots. " To be there but is not there " is hard to understand !
Check data/media and data/media/0 folders. All your data is in one of them (cm in 0,stock in data/media)
I don't know if it helps, but you can run "media scanner" from Trickester mod app. Sometimes it helps for me.

Hello and thanks for reading. This being my first android im a bit confused as to how the storage works. From what I can tell I have Internal phone storage of 1.66GB , Internal SD of 13.03GB and external SD of 1.84GB. Now I know the External SD is the one i placed into the phone. I recently did a factory reset and re-formated the external sd.
The problem im having is when trying to place pictures, music, ect onto the external SD card there is no files whatsoever. So I have no idea where to place the files. Also with the internal sd and phone storage I have no idea what files are needed and what ones are left over from apps ect I previously uninstalled. So does anyone know what files are supposed to be on the external sd and what files must be on the internal/phone storage? Thanks in advance.
Ok so i just changed the camera option to save on SD card...took a random pic, and the DCIM file was created. Still would like to know what the default files are on the internal and phone storage if anyone can help. Thanks.
It doesn't really matter where you place them, media scanner will pick them up.
[Q] Failed to move application. Not enough memory" when trying to move applications.
I've been using my google skills to try to figure this one out, but unfortunately, I did not find a single helpful post. I'm hoping someone can help.
When trying to move an application to the internet SD card, I get the error "Failed to move application. Not enough memory".
Problem is, I have 1.7GB left "On phone" and 11.3GB left "On SD Card". I'm using Apps2sd to report how much storage is left and to determine which applications can be moved.
I have read that if I had an external memory card, it would work. But I want to know if there's something that can be done so that we can move them to the internal SD instead.
From what I saw on a Nexus One, it appears that other Android phones don't have an internal SD card. So it would make sense that it moves it only to the external SD...
I just want input on this "problem", I'd really like to know why I can't use my 16GB of storage for applications! And also, enlighten other people that might come across this.
same problem here, any work around this issue?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Same problem. I don't want to use an external SD card. I just want to move the apllications to the internal SD card.
same Fu******ing problem...i've formatted my sd card...nothing, i get always the same message...failed to move application not enough memory

Anyone? C'mon folks! Why is this happening? How do we fix it? Could it be because of the lagfix? Using Froyo JL2 on a rooted and lagfixed (OCLF) I9000M.
Same here. As the previous posters, I am unable to move any app to SD.
When I try (through Manage applications), I get the dreaded "Failed to move application. Not enough memory" even if I have plenty of memory.
Is this a common problem? Are we the only ones experiencing it?
I am running JPY, updated through Kies after disabling the Voodoo lagfix and then doing a factory reset.
Please please help. At least let us know that it is just us and that it works for the rest of JPYs out there.

Received my replacement handset from Orange (UK) today. The GPS is locking on soo well, functions properly now.
I flashed straight to JPY via reg patch, tried moving an app to SD, get the same error message.
It worked on my old handset 2.2.1 JPY also but with subpar GPS. Today i receive a new handset with a different problem lol.
Any ideas...anyone??
Hey all .... the move to SD is only valid for EXTERNAL SD card, NOT internal.
I successfully moved some apps over after I slot in an external SD card for my SGS. Tried this after I read somewhere the 'apps2sd' tool is designed only for EXTERNAL SD.
Hope this helps....

So is the internal SD only for data storage, not apps?
I found a solution!
I had the same exact problem as you have, and after some rummaging around the interwebs I've found an answer -> SDMove
Just for the sake of information, make sure you don't have the phone connected to your PC via cable. Just like how it happened with me.
Also try SDMaid in market. It cleans the sd.
same problem
I have the same problem and I have an external SD card. Captivate ATT android 2.2 (for now)
i am using the cyanogen mod and have been installing apps to my sd card thru "managing applications". However, i found out that not all of the data is being transferred and some are still left on the internal phone storage. As u guys alr noe, the milestone has very little phone storage, so my phone storage are still quite full at times.
I've seen threads regarding partitioning the sd card so to install the apps to it. Does this really work? I mean is it better than the one mentioned above?
Can someone help with this? I'm new to partitioning so can anyone help by giving step by step instructions, or simply just justify whether this whole partitioning thing works.
Thx in advance
You may give Titanium Backup a try - it can force-move apps from internal memory to SD and vice versa. Long-tap onto the app-> move to sd (or similar, got a german one )
//EDIT: partitioning the sd card is called "app2sd" - there're scripts for this, but with memhack etc. I have enough memory for the moment, so I don't use it
I'm a bit of noob to all this, so please bear with me.
I was previously running Modaco FR19, when yesterday I decided I'd finally jump to GB and installed CM7 nightly 204 using Paul's kitchen. Everything is working fine, except that my internal SD seemingly isn't being recognised. Any time I try to launch my Gallery or ES File Explorer, it gives me the message "SD Card unmounted or not present". When I go to settings/storage then it shows up normally as '/mnt/emmc' and will let me unmount or erase.
External SD card works normally when I put that in, but I'm used to leaving it out as I never use much storage space.
Another funny detail: when I connect the phone to Windows via USB then I'm not given the option to turn on USB storage, however that option appears if I do it while the external SD card is inserted. In that case, the internal appears as drive H: and the external appears as drive G:.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this? I didn't look into if CM7 and FR19 have different file systems so I don't know if its to do with that. Or would a wipe help? Would appreciate any help.
Cheers.
edit: With ES File Explorer, I can still browse to the internal memory and it will display all the files as it normally would. Do I need to change a pointer to the default storage location somewhere? As my gallery still won't find my photos.
edit 2: I changed an internal storage setting in CM, and then later moved some of my photos to a different folder, and everything seems to be working ok for the moment. If nothing else is screwed up, then I'm good.
Hello!
You could also try using "stock mount fix" for CM7...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1341970
I would prefer to install a external SD-card since they aren't really expensive any more...
Greetings

Thats pretty neat, I didn't know about that, thanks. I'll give it a miss for now, as I don't want to risk screwing up my phone even more.
The only reason I haven't been keen on using an external SD card is because mine is only 2gb, compared to the 5gb+ that comes with the phone internally. But looking at prices, I might just go ahead and buy a bigger card to use.
Hello. I have just upgraded to marshmallow S228_160621_ROW. I changed my sd card to internal memory and it became invisible. Is there any way to move photos, vids or files to my sd card and also to be able to see them?

Yes... There is only one way... Which is... You have to make your SD card to portable storage.... Before doing this action take a backup of your SD card... After completing the process you will see your internal storage's contents again on file manager or explorer.

From your answer , I understand that if the sd card is internal storage, there is no way to move media files to the card and to be visible. Am I right?

Once your card is set as internal, then there is virtually no difference in the SD card storage and the 8gb internal storage. After formatting to internal SD card, the storage becomes "internal shared storage" and anything on internal or SD is treated as a single storage. So basically if any file is in internal or SD will then make no difference to the way Android will detect it.
However, I shall tell you a difference.
After formatting SD as internal, the internal goes to the location /data/media and SD goes to /sdcard

I don't understand. In the phone's settings-->storage and usb, I see internal storage and sd scan disc. Also in phone's file manager, I see only internal storage, which is the phone's internal storage and not the formated as internak storage sd card. Also in ES file explorer I see sd card and storage with emulated folder and self folder and nothing else in it. Also the only way to see the option to move media files from internal storage to sd, is when I connect a usb flash drive and after they moved to sd card they become invisible and the phone's media apps don't detect them.

Bro I told you all that is completely normal and is working just as it should.
Your SD card is now treated as a part of your internal storage.
I have a 16gb card as internal. See the ss below to see what the settings treat it as...
This means that if you have any pics, or videos, then it doesn't matter whether they are on SD or on internal, because they are basically the same.
As far as transferring stuff to other devices, lemme tell you that SD as internal won't work with other devices... So if you have a pic on SD and you remove SD and plug it in your PC using USB adapter to view it, then you will not see anything...
The only way for transfers is
1) Apps like ShareIt
2) USB to phone.
BTW internal SD will only help you if you want to install more Apps than allowed by the internal 8gb storage alone.

By that you mean that if the internal gets full from pics, I can move pics to sd and be also visible?

Bro. First of all :
After SD as internal format, all pics start going to SD card instead of internal. Internal storage is pushed with apps and data with the option of moving some apps to SD card too.
It's too simple but you seemingly don't understand it.
Look bro @SACS73 I already spent my time trying to reply to you and helping you when no one else was active.
The least you can do for me is to press the thanks button on my posts here.

The pics continue to go to internal storage. Its too bad that you are so aggressive. Obviously you behave like this because you are miles away from me.

I'm a bit in haste because this whole a7k forum is being run because of me and the devs rarely come online.
I do my best to stay away from posts that are too noobish. It would just waste my time. And if I reply to you, then I certainly feel that the post should not be ignored.
Also, I was not aggressive at all. I was just straight forward.
Your statement has left a scar though. I will never help you on this forum anymore. Best of luck getting help from other people who might come up once a while. It really hurts when you try to help but no one cares.
As the saying goes :
"Everyone seems to care when it's too late."
