Where to discuss at&t? - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a beef with at&t and I'm not sure where to discuss it
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

Ok. I'll start here. About 3 weeks ago we had a bad windstorm. We lost service for a while. We had previously had a fair LTE signal throughout the house and also HSPA+ at about -87 dbM. Now we get no LTE in house and the HSPA signal is around -105 dbM. We now drop calls where we didn't before. A call to AT&T resulted in a trouble case being opened. An engineer supposedly checked out the system and said it was fine and closed the case. Obviously it is not fine and they refuse to fix it. Any ideas?

Thanks!Great idea

Leave At&t like I'm doing because they are not great anymore. Verizon or T-Mobile

Tell them you're going to leave AT&T unless they give you a free Femtocell, which is like a mini cell tower you hook up to your router.
If they try to charge you, then keep escalating up the food chain. Call back if you have to. They may ask you to pay for the Femtocell but refund you the price on your monthly bill. It's possible, though, and it makes a dramatic difference.

Verizon vs t-mobile? Cost reasons

how is tmobile reception primarily on east coast? Looking to get rid of big red.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using xda premium
If Big Red is crappy don't go to another CDMA carrier - it is even crappier. Sprint has no coverage in some parts whatsoever.
I had T-Mobile last year and it was way better.

Not that its garbage. Look to spend less then I am for three lines. I am at around 150 for one line with an unlimited data smartphone and two regular lines.

Anyone else? Even if not on long island.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using xda premium
Ymmv with any carrier. I live in Jersey City, NJ. T-Mobile's coverage where I live rivals that of Verizon. (I should know, I have accounts, with both companies and a Rezound in my house) I also have a multi line account with T-Mobile. As far as I'm concerned, the only reason I even haz Verizon is Sparky wanted a Rezound.

Good feedback. Thanks! If I could just unload Verizon with nine months left on contract, it would be nice.

I'm in he same exact position as you. I wanna leave this ass backwards company. And around Philadelphia T-Mobile is strong. Constant 6-7 megs down. It usually smokes my lte on my thunderbolt unless I'm standing next to a tower

The only option barring a move to T-Mo is obvious....set up a tent under a Verizon tower.

Occupy VZW Tower!
I can't say much about the east coast, I live in Hawaii, on a rock in the middle of a huge pond. Service here is varied but all carriers here have equal amounts of coverage, but varies in different places based on who got priority on that tower location. Also, no HSPA+ or LTE here for anyone

(WIP) [$1400+ BOUNTY] Port T-Mobile WiFi Calling for Nexus 4

What is this about?
The Nexus 4 launched without WiFi Calling support for T-Mobile USA customers. I'm starting this bounty to encourage people to port this feature to the Nexus 4. It has been done in the past, and there are even claims that the N4 was being tested with WiFi Calling support before launch.
For more read this: http://t-mobile-coverage.t-mobile.com/4g-wireless-broadband-service?uid=Coverage_3
Why should you care about this?
WiFi Calling will give all T-Mobile USA customers who use the Nexus 4 the ability to use their T-Mobile phone number to make/receive calls and text messages over an active WiFi network. As well, post-paid T-Mobile customers could avoid using their minutes, if they are on a limited or pooling plan, while using WiFi Calling. Customers need to ensure they have the "Free WiFi Calling" SOC attached to their line and a valid 911 address on file. The 911 address requirement also applies to pre-paid T-Mobile USA customers.
How can you help?
Simply reply to this thread showing your support to have this awesome feature ported to the Nexus 4. Optionally, you can let us know how much you personally would be willing to put up to see T-Mobile WiFi Calling come to the Nexus 4. Personally, I am staking $50 for this feature; however, you can stake any amount you wish, or absolutely none at all. You being here and reading this is good enough for me. But if it is at all possible, please at least reply to this thread. The more exposure it gets, the better our chances our of getting it accomplished!
Presently, the bounty is valued at $1400. The value of the bounty changes frequently as more people enlist their support towards the completion of this project. So, please consider helping out the entire community by showing your support in this thread. Even if it doesn't affect you at all, there is a vast amount of people looking forward to using this feature as soon as possible.
Thank you!
- Korey N.
I don't yet have one. I would be willing to pay for it (around $20) though if I get one. The thing making me doubt getting it is the OTG issues. Might get one anyway.
I'd toss in $10 (not the richest guy) because I get don't service in my house.
T-Mobile isn't too terrible here where I live, but not having WiFi Calling is a disappointment when you trace to places without coverage
Bounty
WiFi Calling would be great :-/
$10
Guys, my suggestion is to use Vonage. Uses your number and doesn't use minutes from existing T-Mobile plan. Works over WiFi and 4G/3G
If you don't mind having another number, there's always Google Voice and VOIP.

Back when I had T-Mobile, developers got Wi-Fi Calling working on the Nexus One and I think I had it on my Nexus S but root access was required because the kernel had to be modified. Don't know if getting it enabled without root would be possible.

But why pay for something like Vonage if I could keep my number and have reliable service via WiFi for free with WiFi-Calling? (Free with my current plan)

Dang, common misconception
Vonage Mobile is a free app that uses your current number and calls out via 3G/4G or WiFi.

I made a call to my dad who doesn't have the Vonage app... it worked...
And I used it on an unactivated phone
Just checked the app info... yeah idk why it says they need the Vonage app, maybe they mean for picture messaging and texts?
Also Vonage has 3000 minutes a month, so maybe if you get more friends the 3000 minutes will be raised for free?
Probably just an issue with wording...

My only question about Vonage's is when they call you will it go thru wifi! The only reason I want WiFi calling is because I get no reception in my house
I put up $10 for this bounty.

In your case, Vonage wouldn't be a solution because you can't receive calls with it.
See, a normal fix to this would be to reject the call then call them back with Vonage, but if you don't get service you won't even get the call.

Lte frustrations

I'm in austin, had the galaxy note 2 before the 3, and I've noticed that the 3 just doesn't want to stay on LTE. The note 2 would always connect to lte immediately but with the 3 it likes to stay on 4g. Has anyone else experienced this? I already exchanged my first one thinking it was just defective but the new one is doing the same...
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You can set it manually to lte only via the service menu however when you do that gsm (phone calls) will be sent straight to voicemail. There are a few threads on this issue already as well
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using xda app-developers app
yeah mine is less likely to say LTE when i wake it up for whatever reason.
but if i cycle airplane mode on/off, i'll come back into lte.
but i don't normally have a problem in general.
I know that AT&T's LTE in the Tulsa area is messed up currently. Speeds are crazy slow in spots. I do not know how he knows but I know a guy who works at AT&T and he told me that AT&T knows of the issue and is working on it. Of course. I guess it could also be a Note III issue.
I'm just curious if they are truly working on it, don't get me wrong, I love the power of this phone!

Anyone know how to become un-throttled on Note 3?

Those who have the old unlimited smartphone plan with AT&T, do you know how to un-throttle your speeds? I'm now getting 0.50 down and 0.50 up on LTE. Changing the APN's doesn't help. And dialing *#2262 and changing it from LTE/GSM to GSM only then back to LTE/GSM doesn't work either.
Ay suggestions would be great.
Using T-Mobile branded Note 3.
This is likely to be region specific. I'm on an old unlimited and I don't have any throttling in Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Fort Myers, or Manhattan.

It use to be, however, within the last year they made it regional. Unfortunately I must be in an area with low capacity or something, because every month I get throttled at 5GB. Many people don't get throttled on LTE anymore, and use about 10GBs.
Same here I'm in austin and they don't even bother warning me, I find out when I can't use my phone anymore lol
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Think it has to do with how 'fast' use the data. Got my first warning ever (6 years unlimited) when my son ran off 3 GB in less than hour last month. I did go over 5 gb and not get throttled, but I had curtailed my mobile data use considerably after the warning. Just wondering if I am on a watch list now. Think I will run mostly LTE for this period and see what happens.

Yes, having AT&T change your data plan. It resets your usage and your unthrotted. I know about that.

That is the only way to do it. Give att an ime for a 3g device. then call back and give them the imei of your lte device and you will be unthrottled. also upgrading your phone will unthrottle you.

How do I get the CellSpot at the time of signing up for service with TMo?

How do I get the CellSpot at the time of signing up for service with TMo?
just call customer service and say you are getting poor reception in your house. They will ask what phone you have to verify if your phone has wifi calling capable. Ask you a series of questions to see if you qualify (ex: do you get at least one bar of signal in your home?). They may ask you for a $25 deposit but depending on your customer service rep, you may get it waived.
You would have to have service first to say your in a dead spot. I could be wrong but some of the reps are the police and gonna grill ya .

Have both as I smart phones and flip phones. The WiFi range is OK sucks if you have a 2 story house. At the edges I loose signal.

Just visit your local T-Mobile store and let them know you want it and that you have bad reception in your house, pay a $25 deposit (refundable when you return the unit) and it's yours for free as long as you have T-Mobile service. I got mine almost 2 months ago and it works really well. The range on this thing is amazing!:good:
I have the rs3 cell fi signal booster. The psu was dead out of the box luckily I swapped it out with the rs2 PSU and its all good now.
T mobile won't give me a cellspot router now as they say I already have one of their signal boosters. According to them customers can have one or the other.
Anyway of getting the router also except for paying $100?

Is there an "X" number of days you need to be having service with T-Mobile to be having the deposit waived? I know some stores giving it for free without deposit when you buy a Note 4 on easy installments.
Can I get both the Signal Booster and Personal CellSpot? I get virtually no coverage in my basement. And the CellSpot would be great on traveling. What do you all think?
