Hello everyone,
As planned, this week we’re starting the software rollout for our first batch of Xperia smartphones Xperia T and Xperia V*, with Xperia TX following next month.
The new software brings Android 4.1 “Jelly Bean”, along with a number of different and improved Sony features – the rollout will continue to ramp up over this month and next.
We’ve been working to blend our Sony Xperia software with Google’s Jelly Bean release to create optimum user experiences – some of the cool functionality you can look forward to includes:
Updated, more intuitive versions of Sony Media apps: WALKMAN, Album and Movies
A slick, easy-on-the-eye library that lets you view and access all your snaps, videos and tunes in one place – not to mention the signature Sony audio and imaging tech that makes your content stand (and shout) out!
Increased options for personalization
A revamped homescreen experience for handling widgets, apps and shortcuts… With up to 7 desktop panes, widgets that auto-resize and actionable notifications, you have complete flexibility to create the interface you want / need with a few simple touches!
Improved app organization and search
Application tray sorting is that bit breezier – just press and hold on any app – move, add it to your desktop or create a folder within the tray by dropping it on top of another!
We’ve also added a new search function within the application tray that makes it easy to locate your local apps.
Improved camera functionality
One for both the budding photographers and all-action snappers amongst us – we’ve added a more intuitive viewfinder with the addition of auto scene setting, and the option to switch between front and back camera with a single touch.
Google Now
Combining the power of Google search and user profiling, Google Now helps you accomplish daily tasks more efficiently.
It brings you just the right info at just the right time – cards appear throughout the day as prompts or reminders, and appear as a notifications when they’re flagged as important! Now there’s no excuse to miss that all important meeting…
As soon as the Jelly Bean software is available for your device, you’ll receive a notification in your phone. In most cases you’ll have the option to download and update over-the-air, but in some instances the software package may only be accessible via PC Companion or Bridge for Mac.
Please visit www.sonymobile.com/update for more information.
As usual we will continue to keep you up-to-date with our progress, responding to as much of your feedback along the way as possible.
*Availability and rollout timing will vary by market and customer variants

Next month = march
Official release date of JB is Q1 for 2013
that means march is not late, but is actually on time.
Burst mode please, and all the features of Xperia Z on TX! Lol
That's enough.
I will sold it after Lunar New Year and buy V instead. No more ****, Sony, no more ****.
At least, we know it.
I'll stop watching it every hours.
But I don't understand why. It's certified.
Will still keep my TX but this is one of the main reasons I just went out and bought a Nexus 4!
By the time I get the JB update on my TX I will have my Xperia Z...booo

Certification does not gurentee release. Some FWs get certification and are never released
Damn, Xperia TX... is now probably my last Sony phone. way to stab your supporters in the back sony.

Why not just ftf...I don't see the big deal?

Can't FTF an official firmware that doesn't exist.
There's like barely any difference between the T and the TX in the software, how does it take an extra MONTH to do something 99% similar?????
I swear...if this update does not fix the web browsing and walkman bug, I guess I will be forever using my walkman Z to listen music.
Yep. This is my last phone with sony. I was having high hope for JB update since Feb

Where will u switch? It's just nexus or Xperia. I came from s3 and ics here is TX is much much better than buggy jelly bean and not really buttery smooth.
I rather wait instead of getting that half baked software from Samsung

Why not wait for Xperia Z?
Sent from my LT29i using Tapatalk 2
im waiting for the z at the end of the month too actually ill trade the tx in for it. wife will want it also she'll trade her tab 2 for it. I'd take the advice and wait for the Z I like the t tx v etc.. just for the camera.
After Xperia T and Xperia V, “Sleep Of Death” issue, has also appeared on the new Sony Xperia Z. There is nothing official right now, only some testimonials, from people who own the device, in forums and blogs. They experienced this issue with the Android 4.1.2 – Build 10.1.A.1.350 installed.
I have ordered Xperia Z and waiting eagerly for it.. but after knowing all these things.. I am very much worried.. :crying: I sold my beautiful Arc to buy this grand cell.. :crying: Who else has encountered this problem?
I think it is fixed with the 10.1.A.1.434 update
Coming from my Xperia Arc, now with the Xperia Z, I was wondering if someone can provide me the customization number for Generic Nordic firmware.
Those firmwares had minimal bloatware and the updates were a bit quicker in those regions (atleast the case with my Arc).
Im from India (1270-7186) so there's a lot of bloatware in my Z. It would be nice if someone could create a thread just like in the Arc forums.

We all know that there is google edition of samsung and HTC flagships but not for Sony. We hear in the past that there will be Xperia Z google edition, But here is the Z1 and yet we haven't seen any sign of the Z google edition. I have a feeling that google will announce Z or even Z1 google edition during their unveiling of the nexus 5. Some people think that this move will have an impact on the nexus 5 sales but remember that people buy nexus 5 for two main reasons ( fast updates and low price point) and these two will still be relevant even if there was Z1 google edition.
anyway, my question is whether you would like pure google experience over sony's UI. Sony Ui has its advatages such as small apps, camera app ... etc while google UI has its own advantages such as quick updates with additional features. So what do you think?
I really like Sony's ui, i think it is the best looking skin of android. Stock android is ugly to me
i would rather have a 4.2 sony skin than a 4.3 stock skin. The updates of android don't come with lots of improvements, so that isn't a benefit for me. The updates that sony pushes are far more interesting to me, such as the latest with the camera improvements. Sony's skin isn't flawless, but near perfection. I would choose a normal z1 over the google edition anytime.
After using touchwiz this is close to Google edition to me. I'm loving it. Was thinking of getting nexus 5 but this phone is much better.

I would keep the Z1 as is now...
Sendt fra min XPERIA Z1 6903
why have a whole phone just for that when u could just root and flash a rom on it lol
as available i will swap to CM
Sony announce Xperia Z release 4.4 late February or early March but don't tell what's news in 4.4
I need to know what's news in 4.4?
Where did Sony say this?

Earlier today, Polish carrier PLAY published a list of software availability for a number of smartphones. This included the Sony Xperia Z, which the carrier claims will receive Android 4.4.2 KitKat at the turn of this month i.e. somewhere between the end of February and early March.
The timing wouldn’t surprise us, given that yesterday we saw the Album app updated for KitKat support. We would expect Sony Mobile to detail KitKat rollout timing around MWC later this month, if not before. We’ll bring you official details as soon as we have it.

The Sony support page says that kitkat will be coming soon. No date.

Xperia blog is not Sony. Doesn't the fact that they're reposting an announcement from a Polish carrier as news about a possible release date give you a clue about that? If it was Sony's official blog they would have just told us the release date.
