Lost root, can't get it back. - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey people,
Maybe this is a newb issue and I'm just being dense, but I've searched around and can't really find anyone with a solution for this...
A couple of days ago I flashed my phone to Eragon, and no longer had root privileges. I've been on a couple of AOSP variants, and most recently Viper and Insert Coin, all 4.3 ROMS. Never had a problem with root before.
So I tried to reinstall SuperSU, even manually deleted the files and reflashed through TWRP, then deleted again and tried to install through the Play store. Upgraded TWRP from 2.6.0.0 to 2.6.3.0, tried to reflash Eragon and Sky Dragon again(with full wipe if course), even restored the TWRP nandroid I had made, but still no root!
I've got a Sprint One, unlocked but still S-ON.
Any help would be appreciated...

Ok so never mind, apparently I fixed it somehow between flashing viperboy's old "Sprint disable write protection" and attempting RUU to 1.29.651.7, then restoring ViperROM 3.1 nandroid. Don't know what happened, just works now. Thanks for taking the time to read this(if you did, which of course you would know, by the time you get to this sentence).

[Q] Heroc (Alltel) randomly factory resets itself

My Alltel heroc randomly soft resets itself. It's done this while unrooted and on the stock 2.1 ROM, and most recently again after I rooted and flashed CM7 on it.
The only change I can think of causing this behavior is that I installed the CWM Tether app on it, but I find it difficult to blame the app for this behavior.
I've perused other threads, but none of them seem to offer any help or solutions. What should I do? Thanks in advance.
Update!
The phone was originally S-on, this did not seem to affect flashing CM7 or anything though. I got the phone S-off, then changed recoveries to CWM from darthstar recovery. I had seen that CM 7.2 had been updated to RC3 for the heroc, so I downloaded it, wiped everything, and flashed it. I also formatted the SD card before and after the flash. I hope this will take care of it for good.
hopefully your issues are gone for good, but if they come back and you figure out what the deal was please let us know

Soft Bricked ... stuck in a loop =/

So sorry for having to ask ... I have managed to get my One (ATT) version stuck in a boot loop. I cannot seem to find anything to restore from in CWM and the only thing on the SD card currently is the custom ROM I was attempting to flash ... I really don't know how to fix this, if anyone could help me I'd really appreciate it. I did some searching around and haven't found a solution to my specific problem, even though others have soft bricked theirs, it seems their fix was much more simple than mine.
I'd love to help, can you explain what rom you were flashing and what went wrong? Did it get stuck in aroma installer?
You should always perform a nandroid backup before doing anything for future reference.

Thanks for the quick reply. I was flashing Android Revolution HD. However, when it was complete I attempted to use Titanium Backup to restore my contacts etc. Apparently the ROM didn't like some of the things I attempted to restore as it conflicted. Like Blink Feed didn't work any longer, just a blank screen where it once was. I decided I would try and re-load the rom again via CWM and went through the wipe process. However, before I went through that I believe I accidentially unrooted the phone by selecting fastboot? Before I got into recovery. Now, if I try to re-load Android Revolution ROM .zip via CWM, it will become unresponsive halfway through the installation. I am pretty sure CWM re-rooted my phone for me as I saw a message asking if I would like to do so and I selected yes. So as of now, I'm just stuck and unaware of what I need to do to fix it =(

Rooted and can't update..

Hello,
I rooted and unlocked my HTC Desire 510 (Cricket) ages ago and I have an update for security patches which I cannot run because my phone just keeps rebooting into TWRP recovery and therefore does not install the latest update. I heard you have to flash the phone back to stock ROM but I'm not sure how to go about doing that. I am willing to restore my phone back to 100% stock if anyone knows how I can do that.
Thank you.
You have to relook the bootloader
Flash stock rom
Apply your ota updat
And after you can unlook again and flash recovery

IMO.... Update isn't worth the time involved needed to install it. Installed on my wife's totally out of the box stock 510....esy,but couldn't really see a difference. Left my rooted nonsense ROM alone. It's been quite a while now and haven't noticed a difference. Your call, that's just my two cents worth

I ended up finding someones stock recovery image dump around here after doing some searching and it worked out fine. The only reason I ever actually rooted my device was to use Helium to do full backups of my phone such as Apps and App Data.

I screwed up and I'm on a Mac

Ok. So I am brand spanking new to rooting and flashing on the Turbo. I did it for a few years on the HTC Thunderbolt and the One. I followed the directions in the How To in the General subforum, used Sunshine, and then since I am on a Mac, I used Kingroot to root and then Flashify to install TWRP. I then did a full wipe in TWRP, installed the Brazilian ROM in the development forum, and then rebooted.
Then my troubles began.
It boots all the way to the "Select your language" screen, freezes, then reboots. Repeatedly. I can get into the stock recovery, but I can't find TWRP, so I figured that I had to install the linked kernel in the Brazilian forum. I installed it in the stock recovery, since I couldn't figure out how to boot into TWRP, but it didn't make a difference. Still freezes and bootloops. I've factory reset in the stock recovery, but nothing. I made a newb mistake and failed to make a backup of my original stock rom, and now I don't know what to do. I have a feeling I have to figure out how to connect to the phone storage via the Mac and load something else to install, but I don't know what. Help! Also, since I factory reset, I no longer have the Brazilian ROM on my phone. What the hell do I do?
Not a Mac person...
I'd find a Windows machine and flash the original firmware and start over. ... Never used it myself
But I believe the software is called rsd lite.
I figured it out!

Do tell?
I expect the OP followed the wrong instructions? They mentioned using Kingroot, which is NOT recommended for rooting these phones. Sunshine is all you need... I figure he had issues because Kingroot has issues....
The joke response I was going to give was: "I screwed up and I'm on a Mac"... yeah, I agree... that's one hell of a screwup.
You have to use King root if you want to install flashify. Sunshine no longer allows temproot outside of sunshine.
This might help future mac users:

Stock Roms

Hi,
I recently made the mistake of wiping my system partition trying to just do a factory reset. I was running a stock rooted 4.4.2 rom and TWRP recovery.
I've tried the latest RUU from HTC but it says it can't find my phone. Using the generic FUU and a 1.54.651.8 (the same version I was previously running) zip I found looks like it's starting to work - it finds the phone and everything but seems to be stuck forever on "Updating (0/7) Sending...."
I was able to get a custom rom installed, but some things weren't working quite right (couldn't send texts, kept making a weird sound, and a couple others) so I was hoping for a stock rom - rooted or not, I'm fine either way.
The bad news is that the old threads with the stock rom of that version seem to have broken links so I can't get them that way. I tried contacting a couple of people who posted them but they didn't hang on to them either.
Unfortunately, the SD reader on this phone has broken so I can't get to my old backup from before I originally rooted way back when. So what I had to do to install the custom rom was boot into TWRP Recovery, ADB push the .zip over to /tmp and flash it from there. Which seems to work fine as far as that goes, I just need a stock rom (or nandroid backup, I suppose) that is compatible with my firmware since the RUUs don't seem to want to cooperate.
As an alternative, is there a way of pulling just the rom out of that 1.54.651.8 RUU I have in some format that would be flashable under TWRP Recovery?
I know it's an older phone and I'm on an old firmware (once I was rooted I never wanted to do any updates for fear of breaking something), but any help would be greatly appreciated since all the links I can find seem to be outdated/dead.
