Better than the bike apparently...
I was involved in a Motorcycle accident this afternoon. A Kia Sportage decided she wanted to take a left into incoming traffic even though I had the right of way.
Luckily I escaped with only a sprained wrist and some scratches on my arm (miraculously, as I flew off the bike and rolled several times). My bike was not so lucky. I don't know if it's totalled... but it isn't drivable.
My Tilt flew probably another 30 feet inside it's Seido Rubberized Case and Holster.
It appears to be virtually unscathed. The case and holster has a few small scratches on it. But until I do further testing it appears the phone is good!
I highly recommend the Seido Case if you plan on getting into any motorcycle accidents!
You're lucky that the sprained wrist is all you managed to get in your fall. Good that your Tilt is a-ok but if I had a bike accident it would be the last thing I'd be worried about! Were you wearing leathers or similar? What kind of bike were you on?
I'm a few months away from buying from a '08 Ninja 250 or an '08 KLR 650, depending on my budget. I'm a little reluctant because riding is inherently dangerous, but ah, so enjoyable, not to mention that my 11MPG truck + 120 mile commute daily = i die a little at the pump. daily.
Crash!

Certainly don't plan on it, but good to know about the durability of said items. Hope your body durability is equal. I had a similar accident once (going 70 mph when someone turned left across my path, skidded 127 feet before I hit him) - felt reasonably OK the first day, but was sore as hell after 2 days! So, my advice - get lots of rest, take lots of NSAIDS.
glad to hear you're OK; it must be a real nice case!
I am glad to know that youare OK. I got rid of my bike about two years ago after t-bone'n a soccer mom. Be careful out there and get some rest.

I also am glad you are ok with no major injuries.
When I read your post, I had flashbacks to 1976...when I had a car turn in front of me. I also flew, did flips in the air and the only reason I was OK was that I landed on someone's front lawn. I didn't have a helmut on and my Honda was totaled.
The next several days will be more difficult than today. Take care of yourself and rest. You are going to be sore--very sore.

Yeah. Thanks all for the support.
I was just in jeans and a t-shirt. so all the more miraculous how unscathed I am. At this point I'm waiting for insurance to investigate evertyhing and hoping the estimate doesn't come back "totaled" as that won't be enough to replace the bike.
Let me testify that a Tilt can survive a keg stand too ;-)

Screw the MC. I got rid of mine a while back. People cant drive anymore. They dont care if your on a MC or not. They dont even look anymore. I had a MC wreck and was lucky with minor injuries but I was sore as hell for at least a week. Once the adrenaline wears off, the pain creeps in. I highly suggest lots of Advil or Excedrin. Take the insurance $ and get a big as hell truck. That way, tho other vehicles reap the pain and not you.
Seriously, keep moving so the pain won't creep in too bad. If not, things will just hurt more.
Yeah, I refuse to drive my bike to/from work simply because I know i'll get hit... friggin people expect a bike to fly or something and they try to move right into you... even when you leave it at 4,000 rpm's and make lots of noise...

Yeah...I keep giving people too much credit. I'd like a big truck, but it's not too conducive to city living.
Luckily I was at the gym this morning and was stretched out pretty well which probably helped not strain anything else too bad.
If the bike comes back totaled and I just get a check I'm not sure what I will do. My g/f was right behind me on her bike...so she won't have a riding partner if I give it up.
Depending on how long it all takes with the insurance I might not need to make a decision until next summer.
HaHaHa, I bought a (not-so-big) truck after getting rif of my bike. I never bought the wife a bike because she could never get comfortable in traffic when two-up. Chicago is miles better that Baton Rouge though. You are sooo close to the home of Harley and people are just a bit more aware.

Seriously...My bike has insurance... but they wouldn't cover any personal property that was also damaged in the accident.
Even if the other driver is found to be at fault (which the should be...but we all know how that goes..) I'm sure the rinky dink insurance company they are with isn't going to cover it either.

Glad to hear that the Seidio rubberized case is such a great case. Even better to hear that you're ok. Get lots of rest Bengalih, you'll need it...
Glad to hear that you are ok, and the tilt.
But one thing I will never understand is why americans are soo fricking brainless when it comes to wearing protection gear???
Here in Sweden we have a law for it, and the insurance cost is much lower if you wear protection gear.
I my self got a Kawa ZZR1400 (ZX14-R) and I wouldn't even dare to drive it without my leather and helmet..
Anyway glad that you are OK, like the rest of them say rest alot.

Thats true. Bengalih, u have to be insane to not to wear any protection.
I once had a bicycle accident and I had scratches all over my body.
Happy to hear that u r ok and always remember: SAFETY FIRST!
Specifically, the screen on my hero. Had to wire 4 houses today and that **** got scratched up in the crawlspaces.
Any ideas on how to fill it?

Toothpaste vigorously applied with a qtip usually works. Make sure it's mint toothpaste, if it's tooth whitening that helps too.
can you report back on the method you use with before and after pics?
I don't have a camera, because i use my phone, but I'll try something this weekend and let you know.
As far as crawlspaces, it's actually quite warm under a house. Hell, I was putting a dish on a roof in 30degree weather yestarday. Roof was wet, cold fingers were cold.

Ok this is funny. I scratched my phone crawling through a crawlspace on Wednesday!!!! And I was running an extra Dual cable on a DirecTV KAKU upgrade... Tell me how the scratch fix works.. And you know what it is DEFINITELY warmer under a house then on the roof putting up a KAKU dish, or especially an international!!! LOL
I know how that is. I was supposed to up a KAKU and an International a couple weeks ago, but when I rolled up the KAKU was already there, so just had to get the International in. Sadly, it was a SWM setup so had to take it to SLIM and get a 6x8 in.
Speaking of SWM, have you had to do a a SWM 8 expander yet?
If you haven't, try to swap that **** with someone else. They suck.
after you fix it, just get a zagg invisible shield for your screen. they are awesome. i've dropped my phone on rocks and no damage

Ditto on glasses suck. They just get in the way of everything (ie, when dressing, showering, sleeping, swimming, etc)
But actually, my nearsightedness is not too bad; only about -3.00 or -4.00 diopters. So I admit I don't have it as bad as a lot of others.
To compound my problems, I can't wear contacts. I have a fear of eye-touching. (Remember in an episode of Friends, Rachel has this problem?)
I would totally go for lasik surgery. I've heard a lot of good stuff about it.
Oh, regarding the argument between lasik vs a nicer car...that's just silly. If you choose to go with a nicer car, you should sell it to do lasik and then get a cheaper car.
Tip on swimming: There are goggles with corrective lens. They look an feel just like regular goggles and don't cost that much more.
I am relatively new to wearing glasses (just over a year). I hate it, but I'm to much of a p***y to get contacts.

Ricer - (Ricer: from the latin word Ricarius meaning to suck at everything you attempt) A person who makes unecessary modifications to their most often import car (hence the term "rice") to make it (mostly make it look) faster. The most common modifications are (but not limited to): - Huge exhaust that serves no purpose but to make the car louder - Large spoiler on the back that looks like something Boeing made for the 747 - Lots of after-market company stickers they don't have parts from, but must be cool - Expensive rims that usually cost more than the car itself - Bodykit to make the car appear lower, usually accented with chicken wire - Clear tail lights and corner signals - A "performace intake"- a tube that feeds cold air to their engine usually located in areas of excessive heat (behind or on top of the engine) - Most of these riced cars (a.k.a. rice rockets or rice burners) are imports; Honda Civics, Accords, Integras, CRXs, RSXs, Del Sols Mitsubishi Eclipses, Lancers, Subaru Imprezas, however there are some domestics such as Chevrolet Caviliers, Dodge Neons, Ford Focus; small, slow, economy cars designed specifically to go slow. Please note that some Supras, Skylines, WRX's and other higher performance imports are designed to go fast, and are therfore not always considered rice. It really depends on the severity of the case. The "ricer" attempts to make their car "performance" by adding the modifications listed above. These ricers are not confined to any one ethnic group ...

you'll poke yourself in the face a few times the first couple of months, trying to adjust glasses that aren't there, but for me and my 20/400 vision, it was an amazing thing.
Had procedure about 1130am. didn't feel anything other that some pushing/pulling (had valium and numbing drops).
Got home about 1300. Wife decided to do some shopping while I was passed out in the car....
Woke up in car to eyes on FIRE. Immediately went into the house and took some motrin and benadryl and passed out.
Woke up about 8pm. Looked up and could read the clock from across the room (before I could not even see that there was a big "E" on the chart from the chair. Had to walk to about 5-10 feet to see it).
The next morning I went for my post op visit and was 20/20.
Now I am 20/15 in one eye and 20/10 in the other. Like I said best 3400 I've ever spent.
Came with free lifetime correction but 5 years later I am still seeing great!
When i didn't wear glasses, i cann't see clearly! I hate!
Chicks who wear glasses can be sooooo sexy
I don't really go swimming too often, I don't picture myself wasting $100 on something I will only wear once a month

Also the price of Lasik. For $3500 I'll be a few thousand away from this (camera not included) and yes, the money I spent on my photography gear can easily buy a ricer car...or a few Lasic surgeries.
I've worn glasses since I was 4 years old (I'm 17 now). I got used to it over time.
I started wearing contacts when I was 12 years old. At first, I was scared of poking my eyes. But when I really noticed how different I looked and how my peripherals were horrible, I became brave enough to start wearing contacts. Now when I look to my sides or up/down, my vision isn't obstructed by a frame (or no lens when looking up/down). I really love contacts now. It's nice not having this heavy frame on my nose.
I've actually contemplated on getting lasik surgery. It might actually happen next summer (when I get out of high school), but I'm not sure...(tough times in the economy right now).
BTW, has anyone gone swimming with contact lenses on? Or is that something that shouldn't be done? I remember swimming with some friends a few years ago and I had no glasses/contacts on, and I got smacked with a beach ball...
how can you hate glasses?! Get some nice ones and everyone around you will be jealous.. got some nice Bench. frames.. love em!!
haha lol loved this thread and guess what?

2.) oh I havn't seen you with glasses before. you look weird.

I know that a few of us ride, some of the guys I have seen here are on sport bikes and a few do track days. An HTC Rezound thread we were in had the topic of track days come up and rather than continue to derail Scott's thread I figured I would move the discussion here.
So, who here rides, and which of you do track days? What tracks? What kind of bike?
Have had a few myself... 2 Suzuki's, 4 Honda's, a Yamaha, a KTM, 6 Ducati's and now a Triumph. I live half an hour from Road Atlanta, and only a few hours away from tracks like Talledega, Barber, Jennings GP, Roebling Road, etc...
My girlfriend rides a 2011 Suzuki GSX-R600 and just did her third track day.
Anyone live around here also do them? Would be cool to meet up at one.
We try to do 1 a month if possible, but average more like every other month. Have a ton of videos on YouTube of the track riding, we have a real blast.
Anyone else?

Well, I won't suck up bandwidth posting pics of all 15 bikes, but here is my current ride, and a video of me on the track with it... The track video was from last July at Road Atlanta. The bike had not been tuned yet, was 18lbs heavier than it is now and was down on power with a leaking head gasket which I found out later to the tune of $1000. Was really bummed about that, but got it fixed, new exhaust and a tune and the thing is considerably quicker now, can't wait to get it back out on that track and see how much faster it will go.

I have not, but I would love to have one. An SV650 is not really a dual sport though. It's a naked vtwin sportbike. If you want to go off road a bit and hit some trails as well as tour on pavement, then you want something more like a Suzuki DR-Z, Kawasaki KL-R, things like that.

To be honest, I know people that have them. You can take them on some fire roads and things, but I would not take one on a truly off-road trail.
It all depends on the terrain. The VStrom is very capable and versatile, but if you want to actually hit mud and trails, the DR-Z400 with some semi off-road tires is the one I would pick, or a Kawi KL-R650 or something. Those are basically large dirtbikes with lights and blinkers, whereas the V-Strom is an SV650 with a little more ground clearance that you can sorta take on very limited off road stuff.
The DR-Z and KL-R are actually dirt bikes made to be street legal, so if you have mud, ruts, trails and stuff to go through, I would use that. You can blast down a trail in the mud, jump stuff and then hose it off and ride it around town and on normal streets. That is really the best of both worlds, and 70mph doesn't suck either! hehe
Here is the one that I would pick if I was gonna spend more time offroad than on...
http://www.suzukicycles.com/Product.../DR650SE/2012/DR650SE.aspx?category=dualsport
Single cynlinder, air cooled, very solid and simply motor. Not much to go wrong, like dropping and cracking the radiator or something. Just give it gas and oil and go. It's a 650 so it has nice torque, and you could take that on an MX track and jump it and hit muddy trails and stuff and still ride it around town.
If you are looking more for advanture riding or touring, then I would say that the VStrom is an awesome choice. You just have to ask yourself how much offroad time you think you will have, and will it just be dirt roads, or real serious off-roading?
I used to have one of them fast bikes but then I got old and bought me this one

Those are alot cooler, but I have dirt bikes. Not looking for something I can hit trails with and go into town. Looking for something I can load down with saddle bags and not look back for a few weeks. Head up to some national parks and be able to ride down the logging roads. I'd like the on road handling of the vstorm. That is where I'd have it mostly. I mean the trip up to Yosimeti sp? is mostly highway. But I'd take the smaller state highways and camp out the whole way. That's what I'm looking for. Plus the dr, you would have to re route the exhaust to fit bags on it. It's not really a tourer.

My buddy had a Virago 750, great bike!
I think that it is cool that today, you can be "old"(LOL) and get a fast bike that is comfortable.
There has been a surge of demand for fast capable sportbikes that don't require a trip to the chiropractor when you get home. So there are a ton of naked, upright bikes, that are light, agile, and have ripping motors in them.
Yamaha FZ1
Triumph Speed Triple 1050
Triumph Street Triple 675
Ducati Monster 696/696/1100
Ducati Streetfighter 1098/848
Ducati Hypermotard 796/1100 EVO
Kawasaki Z1000
Kawasaki Ninja 1000(amazing bike, very comfortable, a ZX10 for the street)
Honda CB1000r
You get the idea. Lots of demand for bikes that are lightning quick, you can toss on the track, or ride across the state on in relative comfort. With the economy tightening up, a lot of people cannot afford to have the cruiser for cruising, the race bike for the track, and a sportbike for fast street riding or the Mtns... They want one bike that can do very well across the board and there are some amazing options out there right now.
Best bang for the buck for a bike that is incredibly light, agile enough to hang with an R6 in the Mtns, can do a track day with ease, and let you tool around town all day long in comfort, is the Triumph Street Triple 675. Strap some soft luggage to it and go touring, and when you get there go tear it up in the Mtns with the sportbike crowd...

Here is the one that I would pick if I was gonna spend more time offroad than on...

That's it, just mostlly dirt roads and such. Not looking to trail blaiz my ass across country through mud and sand the whole way. Just if it arises that I's like to see that mountain from the view over there, I can do it.

Ah, then in that case your best bet is the VStrom for the money, they are meant for exactly what you are describing. If the money were available, I would probably go with a Triumph Tiger 800, but the cost difference is substantial, so while the Tiger might offer better offroad with the same on road capabilities, I think the cost difference doesn't make it as good a value. It costs a lot more, and that money could be spent on accessories, luggage, gear and a year's worth of fuel. LOL
Have a track day coming up, anyone in the Southeast that is interested, I can get you an invite. It's a private track day at Little Talladega on Sunday April 15.
Went riding with the girlfriend this weekend up in the Mtns. She overshot a turn and went wide and into the gravel. Ended up tucking the front and as it dig in to the dirt it sorta high sided her over the front. Just some bruises and busted plastic, she dusted herself off and continued the 100 mile ride home.
Hey guys, sorry if this is the wrong area to post a thread of this nature, and if it's even allowed. But I am trying to get all the help I can and thought maybe there might be a few people that live in my surrounding area that can help me and maybe know any LEO's personally that can also help. But basically long story short my friends 2017 Toyota Camry was stolen right outside my house, as we parked in the street to unload groceries and had the trunk popped open. My friend had left the car running since we were only unloading maybe 3-4 boxes of stuff. As we were walking to the door there was a Black/Dark Grey Chrysler 300 that drove by and suspiciously pulled halfway into our neighbors driveway and shut their lights off immediately. I thought nothing of it because the house they pulled into I've witnessed being drug related so I thought it was just another one of their customers. But as soon as my friend and I walked inside the house, one individual got out of the Chrysler and went to my friends Camry and basically got in the drivers side and sped off. My friend walked out as soon as he saw a man wearing a white hoodie get in his car and took off. I heard my friend from inside say "Excuse me!" and I knew something was going on and ran outside and saw them take off. The Chrysler was backing up out of my neighbors driveway and I was able to run to it and try smashing their back window out since that's the only thing I could think of doing in that moment but had no success. I had my car keys on me and ran to my garage to get in my car and had no success chasing them down. Cops were called, reports filed etc...the usual. Details were given about the Chrysler.
2 days later, my friend and I decided to drive around the surrounding areas in hopes of finding the car. To try and keep another long story short, we located the car that was on the corner of a run down ghetto convenience store called Chillies (not the restaurant) on the corner of Eddy Rd and St. Clair. For those who live in Cleveland are most likely already familiar with that area. So basically when we located the car, I turned around in a gas station and kept telling my friend to call the cops immediately. His stolen car turned out of that Chillies mart and recognized my car and took off speeding down St. Clair. I pursued after him. I lost him due to not knowing the area and he had an advantage. My dashcam captured the whole scene and where we spotted the car. They popped his plates off and the car is currently missing the front plate, and on the back they have a dealers plate which is the same one that was on the Chrysler the night it happened.
Now I keep trying to ask ask myself, how they knew my car and what it looked like when my car is stored in a garage. Which makes me believe our neighbors have something to do with it and they have seen my car parked in my driveway some nights. Granted my car is pretty recognizable as it's customized. And since my neighbors are known to deal drugs, it could've been one of their "customers" that might have been involved and have seen my car before.
I am seeking help from anybody in the surrounding Cleveland area, mainly East Cleveland and Eddy Rd/St Clair to look out for a 2017 Blue Toyota Camry. With black rims, tinted windows, and black trim all around the windows on both sides instead of the chrome. The thieves spray painted the front grill of his car black to try and disguise it more as well. So as far as we know, the car still has black rims, tinted windows, blacked out Toyota logo/grill. Missing front plate. Rear plate is a dealers plate beginning with 06 or 09. Image attached isn't his actual car but representation of what it will look like. Please excuse my crappy Microsoft Paint job and try to imagine the car with tinted windows. The car should stick out like a sore thumb with it's blue color which is why I'm hoping soon they will be caught, or have dumped the car somewhere as we know the location they were last seen at with it. Any help is greatly appreciated and a reward is definitely available for any sightings and assistance in finding the vehicle.

Stills from the dashcam footage are also attached. The last still is the closest I last was to the car because at that point he took off speeding away. As I said, reward is being offered and just thought I'd give this forum a chance as I do not use social media or the like. And I've seen a few Clevelanders on here who maybe live or drive by that area. The police already know everything and I guess now it's just the waiting game from them. But hoping to bring more eyes to the case. Thanks guys.
