Hi there,
If you guys don't know, some Nexus 4 units have an issue with touch sounds. Even when you are in silent or vibrate mode, sometimes when you touch the screen (to select something), it will make a light "popping" sound. Turning OFF "Touch sounds" in settings does nothing. It appears to be a hardware bug and can be pretty frustrating.
In 4.4, the bug is exacerbated. If you use an app like BetterBattteryStats, you will notice that there is something called "Audiomix" that causes a majority of your partial wakelocks. It does not matter if you are in silent, vibrate, or sound mode. It will go up every time you touch the screen to select something.
The solution? Turn off "touch sounds" in settings. When I did this, the Audiomix count in BetterBatteryStats finally stopped growing. The unfortunate thing is lack of touch sounds during your volume-on mode.
Hope this helps!!
I'm still getting this wakelock. After disabling the touch sounds.
And it is also present in nexus 5 :S
Looks like a 4.4 bug
Thanks now I know wat dis wakelock is for

Is anyone else having this issue as well I can get rid of it I've tried everything to what happens is sometimes when my phone is asleep tonight wake it up it's completely unresponsive, the screen turns on but I can't do anything other than hit the power button on and off and volume other than that I am stuck on the same screen. Also when I wake up in the morning after charging my phone overnight it is always frozen like this but even worse when it has been more than a few hours. Could this be related to using an alternative home? I have used both launcher pro and adw with the same results. I have never had this with any of my other android phones. Any ideas?

Take it to Verizon and get a switchout.
Before I do that I would like to make sure that it isn't software based otherwise I will just run into the same issue.

I haven't experienced that issue, but something similar. About once every 2 days my phone won't wake at all. The notification light seems to be working, but pressing the power/lock button doesn't wake the phone, screen stays black and I have to pull the battery. If I call the phone while it's in this state, nothing happens on the Bionic's side, but the phone I calling from hears 4 rings before going to voicemail. I've uninstalled Widget Locker and Home Switcher to see if either of them are the culprit.
awesome, thanks
I would do a factory rest and see if it was a software problem first.

Do you have in pocket detection on under settings? Try turning that off. I was having major issues like that when I was using that setting.

Good advice, the pocket sensor on this phone is borked.

Lately, my screen has been dimming very quickly after I remove my finger from the phone. Sometimes it's normal (sleep after 30 seconds) but sometimes it will dim after 1-3 seconds. I'm running a gummy nightly from a week or so ago. As you could imagine, it's very annoying. Anyone know why this would be happening?
This may be a coincidence, but the dimming started after I updated XDA premium to the latest version. I don't see how the app would affect my screen dimming as it's across every app and on the homescreen.

try to disable pocket mode in settings/screen
My apologies, I thought I mentioned what my phone was running in the OP. I'm running Gummy 1.0 (ICS) and as far as I know, there is no pocket detection.
I AM using Auto-Brightness, but that is because there is currently no way to enable keyboard backlight without it. The dimming occurs regardless of the light levels. It can happen when the light level doesn't change at all.
Try disabling then re-enabling auto brightness.

Try playing with the auto brightness settings.
Disabled and re-enabled autobrighness. We'll see what happens. My guess is that for some reason, my phone doesn't consider the small touches I do (small scrolling up and down) as actually touches and thus fails to reset the 30 second time out. If resetting my autobrightness doesn't help, I'll just update to a newer nightly for my ROM.
Thanks for the replies guys!
Hey on my Xperia Z stock rom nothing flashed, when it is in standby (screen off) randomly the screen glows and does not stop, like the screen is still off but it's like the back light has come on? is this normal? seems to be a power wasting thing to me. unless i look at it from a slight angel (during the day) i can not actually tell it's on, i'm assuming this is why my screen is using 60+% of my battery is there a fix for this?
Are you using any power saving mode?

Stamina mode.
I have the exact same thing happen, and it is definitely a pain as like you say you can only notice it when looking at an angle, and as I have a flip case on mine I only notice while charging. It is just a case of pressing the power button twice to turn off but that is obviously only when you notice it's doing it! lol
I use stamina mode on mine (which is great) but not sure if this is anything to do with the backlight being left on as it only does it sometimes?
I had this issue when i first got my phone ,and not anymore. Not sure how it solved cause i did lot of factory reset and flashing firmwares.
Are you using light flow or any third party apps?

I get this too. I get it when it's locked and it comes back on. Also when I unlock the screen sometimes this happens and I have to turn the screen off and on again to fix it.
Happening here also but not often. I thought it was low battery mode but happens when it's disabled as well.

No i'm not using any third party light apps, seems like this may be an actual bug if multiple people are experiencing it
I have only done one reset/repair to fix the LED notification light bug.
Hope this helps
I know how to fix this. I have an xperia z1 so im not sure if my problem is the same but i use my phone as an alarm so i notice at night the screen is glowing while its standby. If you go to settings or maybe you have it in quick settings go to brightness and deactivate "adapt to lighting conditions" then it should be a black screen woth no glow in standby mode
My screen flickers sometimes in the power saver mode n also when my brightness is set to about less than 40%. Should I be worried or it can be fixed in the software update? Anyone else with the same problem?

Can you check for me if changing to another keyboard solves this flicker? I too noticed this ever so slight flicker but only when using stock keyboard if I change over to Swiftkey then it doesn't happen for me. It looks like its the screen flickering but in actual fact it seems to be just the keyboard area of the screen.
Report back if it fixes the issue for you. If it does then obviously this is software and we needn't worry.
sprint htc one user here. stock not rooted.
ive seen this obvious abrupt dimming since day one (had since launch). i use swiftkey only and no other keyboard.
when the screen is not in use i still see the screen dim. it dims abruptly as opposed to a gradual dim. i chalked it up to software that may be included in an update.
does NOT do it ALL the time though....
Well I tried with SwiftKey it didn't work. It's not just the keyboard are that flickers. It's the whole screen like trying to adjust to a particular brightness. If the brightness is set to about 70% there is no flicker

Since updating to marshmallow, my longer notification sounds, especially Calendar Snooze, are cut off.
I read somewhere about an app setting to allow it to turn the screen on as a fix. I did that but now I can't remember what app I made the change in or where I read that suggestion. I thought it might have been Light Flow, but I can't find it in there.
Now my power button fails to wake up the screen the majority of the time. Sometimes the lock screen will flash for a fraction of a second and go black again. Usually it takes 6-10 tries before the screen finally stays on so I can use my phone.
Since the wake up problem started when I tried to fix the notification sound, I'm pretty sure they're related. Any ideas?

if youre using lightflow id suggest wiping the data in it and resetting your notification settings. it does tend to override the system so i can see that screwing with the duration of the notification, and starting fresh usually solves most problems
i have mine set to wake the screen for SMS but not MMS. it creates similar problems with the screen
Thanks for the info. I tried just toggling the screen on settings on and back off for all of the Light Flow apps, and it seems to have fixed my screen turn on problem, at least for now.

I'm having the same notification sound cut short problem, I have a nexus 7 wifi 2013 model running Mohamed rom v2.1
Whenever anyone calls me on google hangouts, the ring only lasts for a second before its cut off, this doesn't happen if the front cover is open, it happens only when its closed.
I didn't have this problem on kitkat, but on MM this problem started from day 1.
I don't see any light flow option anywhere.
Any suggestions to fix this will be very appreciated.
Thanks.

LightFlow fixed my screen problems, but it was just a coincidence that I installed Marshmallow and my sounds got cut off around the same time. I'm still looking for a solution to that issue. Similar to you, if my screen is on, the notification sounds work correctly. If the screen is off, they get cut off.
